Microwaves are our best friend and our worst enemy. Handy to reheat some leftovers, it is also said to strip food from its nutrients so should be used sparingly.

Yet, this noisy, often ugly and space consuming appliance can help busy girls save some precious time in the kitchen.

*Warning: these hacks are not for purists, just an easy to cut down some cooking time when you are in a rush.

1. Scrambled eggs

To make scrambled eggs for one, break two eggs in a small heatproof bowl, whisk, add a dash of milk, then microwave for 1 minute. Scramble, then if there are raw bits left, microwave for 30 more seconds. Scramble one last time, add a small knob of butter and enjoy!

2. Caramel sauce

Place a tablespoon of butter in a small bowl and microwave on high power for 30 seconds or until melted. Add 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of cream, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine, and microwave for about 30 seconds. Stir again and finally microwave for 20 seconds. Stir and serve or store in a jar in the fridge.

3. Mug cakes

This one is already quite famous but let's not forget that one of the best uses of a microwave (or so we believe) is to deliver some super tasty cakes in about a minute, with only a few simple ingredients.

4. Bacon

Now this one might be a bit controversial, but the microwave can be a hassle-free option to cook your bacon.

Lay two paper towels on the plate, then spread the bacon out in a single layer and lay another paper towel over the top. Cook on high power for about 5 minutes to get a nicely crispy rasher.

5. Bring honey back to life

When your honey is cristallised, you can bring it back to a liquid state if you carefully microwave it.

Using burst of 30 seconds, place in the microwave on medium power and microwave until the honey is nice and melted. Be careful when removing it from the microwave though as the container might be very hot.

6. Baked potatoes

Save LOADS of time by "baking" your potatoes in the microwave.

Scrub the potato and prick several time with a fork. Place on a plate and cook on high power for 5 minutes. Turn over and cook for a further 5 minutes.

When the potato is soft, remove from the microwave, cut in half and add desired toppings (cream, cheese, bacon, herbs…).

There are few things in life more frustrating than waking up after heavy night only to realise that your brand new suede shoes have been scuffed beyond recognition.

It's a sure-fire way to put a damper on an otherwise great night, but thanks to one clever Twitter user, we'll never have to mourn a pair of killer heels ever again.

Kiera O'Hagan shared her genius tip after realising that an everyday product worked wonders at removing stains from her nude sandals – and it's very likely to be sitting in your bathroom cupboard.

“Micellar water has just took [sic] all the stains out my suede heels. Everyone needs to try this,” she wrote.

Genius!

And it's not just for heels. Apparently the brilliant trick works on suede runners too.

May users have thanked Kiera for sharing the 'life-saving' tip, with one even crediting the hack with saving a pair of heels she was about to throw out.

We'll definitely be trying this!

We love a good life hack at SHEmazing.

Little tips and tricks that make our lives just a little bit easier.

Well, we’ve got some great beauty hacks for you that we think everyone should know about.

1. Matching your foundation

We know that everyone always tests different foundation colours on their arm or hand but if you want to get a true match, try swatching the colours just underneath the jaw bone.

Never may you buy the wrong shade again.

2. Foundation shade a little bit off

So this might not be for everybody but it’s been tried and tested and it does work.

If you’re finding your foundation is looking a little pink or yellow on your skin then try adding a drop of food colouring.

Add yellow if you’re looking too pink and add a drop of red if you’re looking too yellow.

3. Tailored face masks

So the most common skin type to have is combination so why would you only use a mask for oily skin all over your face?

Yes, you’ll be looking like some kind of tribal warrior but you will get a whole lot more from your masks if you use different ones for different zones.

This also goes for primers, if you have an oily t-zone but are dry everywhere else you should be using two different products to get the best results.

4. Brighter eyes

So while white eyeliner was said to be the go-to product for brightening up your eyes, it can sometimes look quite obvious.

Nude eyeliner looks so much more natural and does a much better job.

There are some great nude eyeliners on the market so you should have no trouble in picking one up.

5. Cleaning your makeup brushes

So the new it-product when it comes to cleaning our brushes are these new brush cleansing palettes.

We love the idea but hate the price tag.

Try using a silicone pot holder instead which you can pick up in the supermarket for a fraction of the price.

6. Use tape for the perfect wing

An oldie but a goodie.

Place a little strip of tape under your eye at the angle you want your flick to be.

Then be as messy as you like with the security of the tape.

Then peal it back and reveal some truly beautiful peepers.

7. Get lipstick-ready, smooth lips

Give your lips a quick exfoliation with your electric toothbrush before bed

Getting rid of all the dead skin and cracks, you’ll be looking like Kylie Jenner in no time.

Remember that time you missed an AMAZING photo opp because your iPhone had finally hit its storage quota and you were forced to commit that cute dog to memory rather than your mobile?

Well, thanks to a new hack offered by Reddit user, eavesdroppingyou, those days may soon be a thing of the past!

Whether your phone is chock-full of selfies or bursting with screenshots of your BFF's argument with her fella, this amazing storage hack will have you sorted in no time.

In words which were like music to our ears, eavesdroppingyou wrote: "I have an iPhone with 16 Gb so I'm always dealing with low storage. A trick I do to get back some storage is to try to "rent" a movie with a big file size (something like LOTR: Two Towers)."

"Just go to iTunes and search for the movie (with a bigger file size than what you have left on storage), click rent and soon you'll get the message saying you don't have enough storage and offers you to go to settings."

And now for the best bit.

"Click that and magically you will get some storage back (probably it erases some useless data from different apps to try to download the movie)," they continue. "Repeat the process 4-5 times and before you know it you recovered 1 to almost 2 Gb."

Not convinced? According to Reddit users it really works, with one writing: "That's actually clever. I just went from 800 MB to 4.9 GB free space."

Ladies, we're prepared for anything now.

There's nothing really better than a Netflix binge, are we right?!

Whenever we have the time off, it's good to know that Netflix will be there for us, no matter what time of the day.

But these eight hacks are about to make your relationship with Netflix even stronger.

The Netflix Enhancement

This is an ingenious bundle of Netflix add-ons for Chrome that will change you life for the better. With a very quick and easy installation, you can get IMBD profiles, trailers, and pop-up ratings from Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes. Did we mention it's free too?

It costs the same as the standard subscription, so why not get it? See your favourite actors up close and personal.

Watch Netflix from other countries

You can use the free site, Hola to access the Netflix programme lists from other countries! Who knew?! Our Netflix binge just got serious.

Create multiple profiles

If your tastes differ from action to rom-coms, you can make different profiles to suit each one. Or say you don't want to mess up your profile with all of your boyfriends weird TV shows, just make two separate accounts so he won't ruin your suggestions or ratings.

Instant Watcher

This tool keeps you up to date with what's coming and going on Netflix. Which, as anyone who's gone to watch something and had it not been there can tell you, might actually save you from a meltdown.

Flix Roulette

You use your general tastes – favourite director, actors, or even keywords – to narrow down your search and then Flix Roulette chooses something for you based on what you're into. You will discover so many shows you never even knew existed!

Goodbye Buffering

While playing a title, hold down Shift+Opt (Shift+Alt for Windows) and left click, to open up a hidden menu (called the Stream Manager) with buffering fixes and some other ways to help you out.

If you are using Chrome, press Ctrl+Shift+Alt/Opt+S to access this menu.

Shaving can be the biggest chore EVER. You miss spots you can’t see, your skin can get irritated and you realise at the last moment your razor is rusty and unusable – gah!

Here are some shaving hacks that will make shaving your legs easier and leave you with soft, smooth skin every time.

1. Skip the shaving cream and grab your hair conditioner or baby oil
Many of you may already be aware that using hair conditioner to shave your legs will leave you with super smooth legs at half the price. For those who didn’t know, you need to get on this! Using baby oil is said to make smoothness last even longer.

2. Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate
It may seem  like a lot of effort to exfoliate your legs before you even get around to shaving them, but it will be worth it in the long run. Exfoliating your legs will ensure you avoid any unwanted ingrown hairs as well as decreasing the risk of cutting yourself.

3. Double shave
If you have a bit more time on your hands – then this is the tip for you. This isn’t just a tip for any old Saturday night, this is for the weddings and weekends away on your calendar! In a bowl, mix olive oil and sugar, exfoliate your legs with it and then shave. Then, apply more and shave again. Also, do this somewhere you won’t slip on any oil if it accidentally gets anywhere.

4. Moisturise
The importance of moisturising before and after shaving cannot be overlooked. You can use oil or cream – just make sure you do it. Moisturising before shaving can prep the skin and help avoid ingrown hairs. Afterwards, you need to moisturise to ensure your skin doesn’t dry out.

5. Dealing with razor burn
Those red, bumpy marks on your skin after a shave can have you reaching for the tights. To avoid this in the first place, the key is to exfoliate and moisturise. But if it’s too late for that, try holding a warm, but not hot, facecloth on the area and then moisturise with a natural product, such as coconut oil.

Yesterday, we showed you some simple and easy hairstyle hacks for long hair, but fear not short-haired ladies – we haven't forgotten you!

If you think there is less you can do with your hair just because it is short, think again!

Here are some simple and easy hairstyles you can easily do before work or college that will look cute and stylish.

1. The fringe plait
This doesn't necessarily have to be a fish-tail braid like the one seen here on Carey Mulligan. To make things faster and easier – just do a regular plait! Plait your fringe along your hairline and back, gathering more hair as you go. When you've reached as far as you like, simply pin in place with a bobby pin and place some hair over the bobby pin. Done!

2. The cute mohawk
If you have a pixie cut, it looks super cute to make some messy gather it and make a simple and trendy mohawk-ish 'do. Yes, you will need a lot of hairspray, but the name of the game is mess, so play with it a little!

3. The pop of colour
If you're not good with messing with bobbin, bobby pins and accessories – why not try putting a pop of colour in your hair? It is bound to be super trendy (unless you accidentally put in a purple rinse that is) and many of them are not permanent.

4. The curled short bob
If you're stuck for time why not make like Taylor Swift and grab the curling tongs for a few moments. In no time at all you can create soft waves, like Taylor's before. Grab larger pieces of hair and wrap them around the tongs for a few moments until you're done.

5. The high ponytail
Kelly Osbourne proves the high ponytail isn't just for those with long hair as she ties hers up in this cute pic. Simply gather your hair at the top of your head and secure with a bobbin. Cute and simple!

As every woman knows, a waxing appointment is not exactly a cause for celebration. Yes, we leave the salon silky smooth and oh-so-super-sexy, but we also have to deal with a hell of a lot of discomfort in the meantime.

If you dread your appointments, but adore the results of a good wax, then you should definitely consider some of the following hacks to make sure your beauty regime is as agony-free as possible.

Hell, we don’t have time for pain, we’re busy women.

1. Refrigerate some soothing lotion the night before your appointment and turn to it in case of an emergency later.

Future you will thank you for it!

2. Pop an over-the counter painkiller about half an hour before you’re due to hop up on that table.

You, girl, are ready for this.

3. Do NOT schedule a waxing appointment when you’re due your period because your sensitivity to pain is heightened at this time of the month, however your tolerance to pain is at its highest a few days after your period!

Bring it ON!

4. Apparently our pain threshold is at its highest between 3 and 5pm every day girls, so get booking an afternoon session!

No, a morning appointment doesn't suit me unfortunately.

5. Avoid using scented body creams, working-out or wearing restrictive clothing for about 24 hours after your waxing session.

You do NOT want your perfectly smooth skin ruined by an eruption of pimples due to misuse of lotions or excessive sweating from a tough work-out.

If you follow these tips, you will have done everything in your power to make the appointment as painless and stress-free as possible. Go you!

We all know it’s great when you’re flush and can afford to splash out on expensive brands and luxurious beauty treatments, but let’s face it that generally doesn’t happen on the daily.

We’ve all gone through periods (looong periods) of being broke, strapped for cash or frugal with our money, but that doesn’t mean we have to settle for less when it comes to our health and beauty regime.

Swapping some products for an alternative can make the world of difference to your purse, but most excitingly, may actually remain a permanent change even if you start splashing the cash again.

Some times the simplest options are the best, girls!

1) Swap brand name shaving foam for a cheap hair conditioner.

It does exactly the same job as the foam and when applied liberally leaves your legs feeling silky smooth.

Why shell out unnecessarily?

2) Swap make-up remover for coconut oil.

Can’t afford to splash out on expensive brands, but still rightfully demand top results for your skin? Just pick up some coconut oil from your local supermarket!

Experience the wonder!

3) Swap pretty ‘female’ razors for a basic male one.

They do the exact same job except you’re shelling out more money for a splash of pink!

Why bother?

4) Swap expensive hair treatments for ice cold water.

If you’re really searching for shine, then the cheapest and most efficient way of achieving this is to rinse your hair in cold water after you wash it.

Healthy, glossy hair for nothing!

5) Swap female oriented tablets for gender neutral types.

Don’t feel pressurised into buying a certain types of tablets because they seem to be geared towards women; the standard brand will generally do the job just as well!

We’re no fools!

Girls, these little tweaks to your shopping list can make a huge difference in the long run and you never know, some of these swaps may not just suit your purse more, but may suit YOU and your body more.

Worth a try, right?

The kitchen is definitely the heart of the home. It's where we eat, chat, cook food, make incredible cakes (most of the time!) and spend a whole lot of time.

These five hacks will ensure your time spent in the kitchen is worthwhile:

Dinner for one
Cooking for one can often mean that food goes to waste because, well, basically there just isn’t enough people to eat it. So, when it comes to freezing your sauces or leftovers, pop them into ice cube trays and put it in the freezer. This way, all you need to do is take out one or two 'dinner cubes' to use that night.

Chill wine
Pop some grapes in the freezer and use these as ice cubes in your wine – it keeps your drink cool without watering it down. Genius!

Wooden spoon
When you are boiling food, simply pop a wooden spoon across the pot to stop the water boiling over. It has to be wooden though as metal spoons don’t work for this.

Opening jars
Opening jars can be a nightmare especially when you don’t have a strong handsome man nearby… So, to open it, put on a rubber glove and voila!

Cleaning your fruit
If you really want to give your fruit a good clean, mix a little lemon juice with baking soda and water in a spray bottle, give it a good shake and spray on your apple. Clean in seconds.
