90’s

Sunday is a day for relaxing. We’re sure most of the country has spent the day at the beach, sunbathing in the park, or enjoying a barbecue at home.

Don’t get us wrong, we love the sunny weather, but we must admit that it can leave us feeling exhausted.

After spending the day working on tanning our pasty pale legs, all we want to do is curl up on the sofa with a glass of wine and a classic rom-com on TV.

Thankfully, RTÉ 1 have got our Sunday night movie covered as they are streaming one of Julia Roberts’ best movies tonight.

This 1990 classic has a strong female lead, the dreamy love interest, a kickass soundtrack and a complicated love story, what more could you ask for?

Pretty Woman is one of the most iconic romantic comedies and there’s no doubt that we’ll be tuning in tonight.

The film follows the complicated love story of a millionaire and a prostitute. Gere’s character decides to hire prostitute Vivian, who is the perfect partner to accompany him to lavish work events. Much to his surprise, he starts to develop feelings for her. The pair come from completely different worlds, but as the saying goes, opposites attract.

Pretty Woman has a stellar cast with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere taking on the lead roles. It also stars Jason Alexander, Laura San Giacomo, Ralph Bellamy and Hector Elizondo.

You can watch Pretty Woman on RTÉ1 tonight at 9:30 pm.

So, the weather is slowly getting better, and sure, there's a grand stretch in the evening.

Typically, this is the time of year where many of use make a little change.

Weather it be a hairstyle, signature scent or even a lipstick colour – Spring is a great opportunity to try something new.

With that, we noticed that loads of famous faces have been getting the chop lately, and opting for a nineties bob.

We LOVE it.

Anyway, this kind of haircut is totally synonymous with the glory of the nineties.

A blunt, short bob, that was rocked by everyone from Drew Barrymore to Winona Rider (usually paired with a choker and some form of velvet).

There are a number of ladies giving this chop a go, and we applaud their boldness.

I genuinely wish on a daily basis I had a face that could pull of a bob, but lord in heaven I do not.

You know who does though? These fine females:

Yes! This week is all about the revival of the cult '90s TV show. Just as we're getting ready to welcome Sabrina the Teenage Witch back to our screens in a Netflix reboot, a modern re-work of a similarly beloved show is also (maybe) about to return.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, US network Nickelodeon is in "early discussions" to bring back the famed TV series with original star Melissa Joan Hart. Imagine!

Happily, Melissa would reprise her role as Clarissa Darling, but according to the report, the new show would make Clarissa the mother of a what we presume is children as sassy as she was back in the day.

The original Clarissa Explains It All aired between 1991-1994, then went into reruns for what was essentially the whole of the '90s (similar to friends but without quite the same staying power).

Hart herself previously hinted at a Clarissa reboot in an interview with Us Weekly. “There is some talk about Clarissa,” she said, “so we’ll see which way that goes."

She went on to say how much her character had meant to her, as the series hit its 25th anniversary.  Clarissa taught me a lot," Hart told Variety in 2016. "If she could stand up to a bully or date the bully, break boundaries and stand up for what she believed in and be smart, sassy and likeable, then I could be those things too."

The series launched Joan Hart's career. She even called her 2013 memoir Melissa Explains It All, so she obviously still has some strong nostalgia tied to working on the series.

And there's good reason to think that will actually go past the talking phase; in 2015, show creator Mitchell Kriegman wrote a novel called Things I Can't Explain, which followed a twenty-something Clarissa as she navigated life as an adult, so there would be at least some source material there as a jumping point.

Let it happen!

2018 is the year of the TV reboot, and frankly we're here for it.

From our childhood favorites to the sitcoms we watched on the sly, some of the best TV shows from the 90s and early 00s are making their way back to our screens one way or another:

Will & Grace

Beloved sitcom Will & Grace is making a return to our TV screens with the original cast signed up for the reboot.

My Super Sweet 16

The infamous MTV show it's making its way back, and we cannot wait.

And better still, it's not going to be based around ludicrously rich 15-year-olds anymore, and will instead focus on people "coming of age."

"MTV cordially invites you to My Super Sweet… and extraordinary television event featuring the most important day of your life marked by the greatest of celebrations – Sweet Sixteen, Quinceanera, Debutante Ball, Debut, or any other coming of age milestone event – if it's going to be lit, we want to know about it!" said a MTV press release.

Fancy sweating it out in a pair of lycra leggings and a leotard? Then look no further.

There's a 90s themed fitness class being held in The Bernard Shaw on February 24, and Discmans are definitely optional.

The class is by Fearless Moves, a fun fitness initiative that combines epic tunes with an energetic work out.

With a playlist full of absolute 90s whoppers, the exercise event is right up our alley (who wouldn't want to aerobicise to the dulcet tones of The Spice Girls).

A post shared by Fearless Moves (@fearless.moves) on

'It's a fun (slightly sweat-tastic!) HIIT class with brunch served afterwards,' reads the event description.

'The session will feature a live DJ and instructor who have been challenged to come up with a PUMPIN' 90's themed class.'

'No need to be a fitness freak to come along, it's about the chooons and chats (and eating afterwards, obviously!)'

Best of all, the ticket to the class includes a super healthy brunch which will be served after.

Tickets are priced at €31.97 and are available here

It seems that the fashion world's obsession with all things 90s is never ending.

The latest item to be resurrected from the sartorial graveyard might surprise you, and for any 90s kids,  it will definitely remind you of your secondary school days.

Platform school shoes were a staple for 90s teens, if you could get away with them, and they matched our chunky highlights and Backstreet Boys hoodie.

While we definitely envied our peers who were allowed don those platform, clunky heeled school shoes, there is no way our mams were letting us head off to school in any shoes higher than a sensible half inch.

This is why when we saw these platforms on Gucci's website, our inner teenager begged for them immediately.

The shoes themselves are a platform adaption of the classic Gucci loafer, but they are distinctly reminiscent of the clunky school platforms we needed in our lives in 1998, but with a majorly modern update.

A post shared by Zig Metzler (@ziggy_shoots) on

Unfortunately they are slightly out of our price range at €1,100.00. Just slightly…

Vintage shops are a hot bed of the original versions of the school shoes, so we know where we will be looking if they officially make a comeback.

Now, all we need is some roll-on body glitter and our old Spice Girls C.D…

Calling all 90s fans!

TLC have dropped a new single Way Back, and the nostalgia is nearly too much

The song is from their upcoming album, which has yet to be named. This album is reported to be their last.

iHeartRadio premiered the track on yesterday, and the smooth, 90s vibes are strong.

"It's been a long, long time coming," are the opening lyrics to the track, which seems pretty apt.

The girl band turned to a Kickstarter campaign to fund the new album, raising over €405,041.00 for the project.

"The album date is firm, June 30th is the release of the new TLC album that you made happen," reads a statement on the Kickstarter page.

The band are also taking to social media, to ask fans what the album should be called.

So, while we have you; don't forget to have your say in the inaugural SHEmazing Awards this May! It's time to vote, and you can do it right here!

A quarter of a century (yes, we went there) after forming their sibling triad of a band, Hanson is going on tour to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

The brothers enjoyed fame and fortune with their break-out hit MMMbop, and we've been bopping away to the tune ever since.

A post shared by Site Lizana Lima (@sitelizanalima) on

"Making music together for 25 years is a milestone that we had to acknowledge, and what better way to do it than with an anniversary tour," Taylor Hanson said

“This year is not only about the two decades of music, it’s about celebrating the incredible community of fans who have been with us, singing along year after year," Isaac Hanson added.

The band isn't coming to Dublin (rude) but if you want to MMMbop the night away, the closest the brothers will be coming to our Emerald Isle is London on June 10.

So if you're a major 90s fan, this gig might be right up your alley!

Back in the mid nineties, there were few items more coveted than light up runners.

You would have traded all of your Beanie Babies just to own a pair of luminescent sneakers for five minutes, and a flashing pair made you the coolest kid on the playground.

Well, light up runners are back in a big way, and Penneys is serving up a little slice of nostalgia for just €20.

Penneys showed off the glowing kicks on their Snapchat last night, and we are officially obsessed.

Available in sizes 2-8, these runners definitely aren't just for kids.

Similar styles are currently going for €128 elsewhere, so these "Penneys finest" pairs are a real bargain.

Maybe don't team them with butterfly clips and dungarees though, just in case anyone accuses you of living in a time warp.

The shoes are available in selected stores now, see you in the (well lit) queue.

From its Starbucks-scented Christmas collection to its Better Than Sex mascara, Too Faced is well known for its quirky approach to cosmetics.

And not being one to shy away from an eye-catching trend, the beauty giant has released a holographic lipstick shade named after everyone’s favourite mystical creature.

In stick form, the ‘Unicorn Tears’ lip colour appears baby blue, but when applied, it dresses the lips in a shimmering state of iridescent pink.

While ‘Unicorn Tears’ debuted as part of the brand’s La Crème collection this time last year, it has been impossible to track down ever since.

Because the hype surrounding its recent return to market is gaining pace, we’d advise making this purchase ASAP.

She might be best known for her teenage roles in A Cinderella Story and Lizzie McGuire, but Hilary Duff actually landed her first major movie role way back in 1998.

The actress took to Instagram last night to share a nostalgia inducing throwback of herself dressed as Wendy from Casper Meets Wendy alongside a pic of Wendy in her grown up form.

The 29-year-old mother of one captioned the post: “Well just in time for Halloween @snapchat gave me this little treat of a filter #caspermeetswendy #wendythegoodwitch #20yearsago?! #ahhhhhhh.”

Fans are loving the 90s feels with social media users coming out in droves to comment on the share.

One fan wrote: “I didn’t know I wanted this until right now”.  While another said: “20 years ago???!!! That’s still one of my favourite movies!  I use to want to be just like Wendy (sic).”

Almost two decades on, Hilary is the spit of her childhood self!

It was the explosive celebrity breakup that no one saw coming. And in the immediate aftermath of Brangelina's high-profile split, Khloe Kardashian has firmly aligned herself to #TeamBrad.

Indeed, the reality TV star has sensationally admitted that she has a major crush on the Oscar-nominated actor.

Seemingly wasting no time in stately publicly her attraction to 52-year-old Mr Pitt, she positively gushed about him in her newly-released Just The Tip column, which runs on her site khloewithak.com.

"He's handsome in the 90s and today," Khloe stated – putting Angelina Jolie's estranged husband at the very top of her Would You Rather – 90s Stars Then and Now list.

She added: "I loved him in Meet Joe Black, but didn't like him when he was super young, like in Thelma & Louise."

The California-born star makes no mention of Brad's recent domestic woes.

Meanwhile, Ms Kardashian is currently in the midst of divorcing Lamar Odom. More recently, she has been dating 25-year-old basketball star Tristan Thompson.
