There is a scene in the season one finale of The Bold Type that is one of the most captivating TV moments I’ve ever had the honour of watching. That one scene proved to me that this show is going to make a massive difference for women everywhere.

The empowering show is set at Scarlet magazine and follows the lives of three employees- Jane, Kat and Sutton.

Complicated love lives, financial struggles and health woes, the show is full of gripping content, quite like the magazine the girls work at.

In the past, the magazine world has been portrayed as bitchy and competitive. In the Devil Wears Prada Andie has to put up with the catty and dismissive assistant Emily, as well as her awfully harsh editor Miranda.

In 13 Going on 30, Jennifer Garner’s character Jenna works alongside her supposed ‘best friend’ who ends up sabotaging her and sending her work to a rival publication, just so she can get to the top.

Sex and the City exaggerates the glamour of being a journalist. Carrie writes one column a week, yet manages to afford a lavish apartment in New York, mountains of designer shoes and gallons of cocktails.

The great thing about The Bold Type is it shows the industry in a positive yet honest light. The editor of Scarlet magazine is attentive and caring, but constructive and strong at the same time. She isn’t cruel to her employees or controlling, but supportive in her critique.

The girls' friendship itself is one of the most uplifting things about the show. Forget about the days of catfights and competitiveness, because this show is all about just how wonderful female friendships are. Jane, Kat and Sutton are there for one another come rain or shine. Forever meeting in the fashion closet to discuss their latest dilemmas, the trio’s friendship is a breath of fresh air.

The storylines are serious. They’re problems many of us have faced at some point in our lives. In a mere ten episodes, they managed to highlight topics including getting checked for breast cancer, sexual identity confusion, forbidden love, online trolls, immigration laws, racial abuse, sexual assault and online dating.

The way the show's creators treat their female characters says a lot about how far we’ve come in recent years. The likes of the Me Too movement proved to Hollywood that it is time to listen to women, it is time to respect women and it is time to portray their lives in a truthful way.

The female characters make mistakes, they express their feelings and are ambitious in their careers. They’re real women. They’re you, your best friend, your sister, your work wife. They’re the female characters we’ve needed on our screens for longer than we even realised, until now.

You can watch The Bold Type on Amazon Prime.

It feels like forever since the season two finale of Riverdale aired. We miss the drama, the relationship struggles, the creepy phone calls, Archie’s eyebrows…

There is a Jughead shaped hole in our hearts, but fear not, Betty, Archie and co. are returning to our screens VERY soon.

Season three is set to be better than ever with creepier storylines, new relationships and more trouble for our beloved gang.

Fans of the show have been waiting for it to return for what feels like a lifetime but Riverdale will be hitting Netflix sooner than you think.

Netflix announced the Riverdale return date and we’ve already got it marked on our calendars.

The teen-drama series will be back on Thursday, October 11. Yes, that’s right, we only have two more weeks to wait until Riverdale is back.

We are beyond ready for season three to air. It sounds like the upcoming season is going to be more gripping, dramatic and cheesier than its predecessors.

One of the biggest season three storylines will be Archie’s arrest. Judging from the most recent trailer our fave Riverdale hunk is in jail, and we’re not impressed.

Our love for KJ Apa and his bushy eyebrows is so strong, so we don’t know how we’ll cope if he is stuck behind bars for half the season.

We’ll also be introduced to the cult Polly is a member of, which is bound to be interesting (and extremely scary.)

Also, prepare yourself to see pretty much everyone hook up in the smalltown this season, from Alice and FP to Cheryl and Toni, love is certainly in the air in Riverdale.

Don’t miss the first episode of Riverdale season three on Thursday, October 11.

The story of Cystic Fibrosis campaigner Orla Tinsley is one that captured my heart, as well as the hearts of the entire nation. Orla shared brave updates from her hospital bed as she waited for a lung transplant in New York for a harrowing nine-months.

Watching Orla’s journey unfold from the screen of my iPhone was surreal. I constantly checked her Instagram for updates, hoping and wishing she would receive that life-saving double lung transplant.

There was a point when Orla was put on life support at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. The inspiring activist wanted people to see every aspect of her journey. Despite her deteriorating health, Orla continued to let the cameras document her life, even though there was a chance she may not survive.

Speaking of the documentary, she shared: “My dream is to raise as much awareness about organ donation, transplant and CF as possible.”

“It was extremely important for me to continue this in the most challenging time of my life. I share my transplant story in the hope it will help others going through transplant or situations like it all over the world,” she explained.

Orla hopes her documentary will encourage people to become organ donors. “I owe all things to my donor who has given me a second chance at life.”

We have been longing for Riverdale to return to our screens for what feels like forever. The teen drama series is one of our guilty pleasures so it’s safe to say we were delighted when we spotted the season three trailer today.

The upcoming season looks more dramatic than ever before, and awfully creepy.

There is a lot going on in the trailer so we had to watch it a couple times to take everything in.

First of all, it looks like Archie is in prison and to be frank, we are not one bit impressed. Our love for KJ Apa and his bushy eyebrows is so strong, so we don’t know how we’ll cope if he is stuck behind bars for half the season.

One of the biggest things we noticed in the trailer is basically everyone in Riverdale is hooking up and falling in love. Veronica and Archie, Kevin and Moose, Cheryl and Toni, Jughead and Betty.

Love is certainly in the air in the small town.

One couple we were slightly concerned about is Alice and FP. The pair clearly share a strong history, but will their potential relationship affect Bughead? We hope not.

The trailer also features a glimpse at the cult, which Polly is a member of. There are fires, demonic figures and a lot of screaming, and to be honest, we’re just not here for it.

The Black Hood spooked us out enough, but it looks like season three is going to be even creepier than before.

Nonetheless, we cannot wait for the show to return to our screens. Luckily, fans don’t have too long to wait.

Riverdale will return to Netflix on October 12.

We adored every character in The Crown, from Queen Elizabeth herself to the dashing Antony Armstrong Jones. We even had a soft spot for Tommy Lascelles.

However, there was always one character who stood out from the crowd, the one and only Princess Margaret.

Vanessa Kirby dazzled as the rebellious royal during the first two seasons of the show. We were completely captivated by her performance, but what really grabbed our attention was the troubled life of Margaret herself.

We were stunned by just how devastating Margaret’s love life was, especially at such a young age. Our hearts ached for her when she was torn apart from Group Captain Peter Townsend.

Margaret always felt outshone by her older sister, Queen Elizabeth, and longed to be in the spotlight.

The princess will now have her moment, thanks to the BBC. They are producing a two-part documentary series based on the ‘life and loves’ of the monarch’s troubled sister.

According to The Telegraph, Vanessa Kirby’s successful performance in The Crown inspired this documentary series.

The programme is set to feature interviews with various acquaintances of the late princess, including Basil Charles, who once owned a bar on the island of Mustique, where the princess often holidayed.

He comments: "She was a trailblazer, she was a little bit of a rebel. She wanted to have the [royal] life but she also wanted to have a normal life.”

The series will look at her forbidden love, her rebellious ways and her struggle with living in Queen Elizabeth’s shadow.

Sunday is a day for relaxing. We’re sure most of the country has spent the day at the beach, sunbathing in the park, or enjoying a barbecue at home.

Don’t get us wrong, we love the sunny weather, but we must admit that it can leave us feeling exhausted.

After spending the day working on tanning our pasty pale legs, all we want to do is curl up on the sofa with a glass of wine and a classic rom-com on TV.

Thankfully, RTÉ 1 have got our Sunday night movie covered as they are streaming one of Julia Roberts’ best movies tonight.

This 1990 classic has a strong female lead, the dreamy love interest, a kickass soundtrack and a complicated love story, what more could you ask for?

Pretty Woman is one of the most iconic romantic comedies and there’s no doubt that we’ll be tuning in tonight.

The film follows the complicated love story of a millionaire and a prostitute. Gere’s character decides to hire prostitute Vivian, who is the perfect partner to accompany him to lavish work events. Much to his surprise, he starts to develop feelings for her. The pair come from completely different worlds, but as the saying goes, opposites attract.

Pretty Woman has a stellar cast with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere taking on the lead roles. It also stars Jason Alexander, Laura San Giacomo, Ralph Bellamy and Hector Elizondo.

You can watch Pretty Woman on RTÉ1 tonight at 9:30 pm.

Have the long-weekend festivities left you feeling drained already? Or are you aching after taking part in the Women’s Mini Marathon? If you’re in dire need of a lazy movie night then we’ve got good news for you. One of the best Irish movies is on TV tonight, so make sure you’re well stocked up on popcorn and wine.

This Irish drama is based on one of Maeve Binchy’s best books and is the perfect Sunday night movie.

TV3 are showing the brilliant Circle Of Friends at 10:05 pm tonight, and you just can’t miss it.

The drama is set in Dublin during the 1950s, where we meet Benny as she starts a new chapter of her life at university, along with her two friends- Nan and Eve.

The movie follows the girls as they try to adapt to their new lives in Dublin after growing up in the small Irish village Knockglen.

We see the trio grapple with their desire for love and their religious upbringings. Benny falls for Jack- the charming rugby player, but her friends aren’t as lucky.

Circle Of Friends stars Colin Firth, Minnie Driver, Saffron Burrows, Geraldine O'Rawe and Chris O'Donnell, with appearances from Aiden Gillen and Alan Cumming.

The heartwarming tale will certainly leave you feeling nostalgic (and no doubt, you'll be cringing at those awful Irish accents.)

Tune into Circle Of Friends on TV3 at 10:05 pm tonight.
