So, in the eyes of the law, we're full-on, card-carrying adults.

And while we longed for that day as children, the reality of the adult world is very, very different; full of responsibilities and commitments we'd rather our parents or, you know, 'real' adults would deal with on our behalf.

Considering this, it's no surprise that many of us get a secret thrill out of performing an adult task or duty without requiring help or, indeed, encouragement from another adult.

And here are just 13 'grown-up' things it's OK to feel smug about totally nailing… every once in a while.

1. Ringing the bank over a statement query instead of hiding under your duvet and praying for the end of the world.

And hanging up feeling informed, placated and mature.

2. Doing a 'big shop' so your meals for the week are sorted in plenty of time, and you don't have to rely on the goodness of co-workers to feed you.

Don't mind me…or my Tupperware, guys.

3. Tending to your laundry BEFORE you run out of clean clothes, and have to wear bikini bottoms under your work trousers.

Three pairs of knickers left and yet here I am loading this drum like a good thing.

4. Cleaning out your handbag and removing every random receipt, frayed Boots voucher and empty Fruit Pastilles wrapped you find.

Eating a fluff-covered Fruit Pastille does not take away from your adult endeavours in any way, shape or form.

5. Buying a packet of treats and getting them to last an entire week instead of eating them in one sitting.

I might not even eat one today at all because I'm the boss.

6. Knowing when your next electricity bill is due, and setting aside the cash in time.

Excuse me while I transfer funds from one account to another like an absolute pro.

7. Cleaning your home from top to bottom despite the fact you're not actually expecting any visitors.

I'm cleaning, and I'm loving it.

8, Replacing the toilet roll, emptying the kitchen bin or putting the J-cloths through the washing machine… of your own accord.

I am holding this house together and no one can take that from me.

9. Setting up a savings account, and actively refusing to remove money from it because this is your time to shine, damn it.

I will not dip in. I will not dip in. I will not dip in.

10. Opting for the second cheapest wine on the menu instead of the cheapest because you're not an animal.

I'm officially going up in the world, people.

11. Bumping into a friend of your parents, and managing to hold an impromptu conversation without feeling awkward.

Look at me asking about their husband's health. My mother would be so proud right now.

12. Cleaning out your makeup bag because you felt like it, and not because there's mould growing on your brushes.

I'll be a renowned MUA at this rate.

13. Checking items off a to-do list you wrote because this whole adulting thing will not get the better of you.

OK, so I may have checked that off even though I haven't done it yet, but I know it'll be a cinch.

Ed Sheeran and Rupert Grint probably get mistaken for one another all the time, especially after the insane Lego House doppelganger video.

Ed has been having a very exciting year thanks to the success of his new tune Shape Of You, and now Rupert is trying his hand at the lyrics.

Sticking to his acting roots, rather than singing the tune, Rupert is acting them out through a dramatic reading.

The results are as funny as you would think, especially when it comes to reading the multiple  "Oh, I" refrains in the chorus.

How Rupert held it together so well, we'll never know.

We thought we'd seen it all when the gin and tonic Easter egg came into our lives, but clearly we were mistaken.

Now, an off-licence in Northern Ireland has come up with a Buckfast Easter Egg, for those who aren't partial to a G&T.

The Bucky egg is the unique endeavour of D-Bee's offie, and it's quite an entrepreneurial feat.

D-Bee's Off Licence/Facebook

Inside the yellow box, you’ll find a chocolate egg, which unfortunately is not Bucky flavoured, and a miniature bottle of the tonic wine.

There is also an array of Buckfast emblazoned merchandise, including a lighter and a pen.

There are plenty of Bucky fans that we can think of who'd love to get their hands on this egg.

You can order these Easter eggs from the off-licence, located in Lurgan, Armagh by giving them a ring or email.

Excuse us, we have a quick phone call to make….

While we may all be moaning about how long it's taking to build the new Luas lines, we can't deny that the Luas is an oh-so handy way of getting around the city.

However, if your Leap Card often pulls a Houdini and escapes from your clutches at the crucial tag-on moments, you may be partial to paying by card at the machine.

Since the dawn of the Luas era, there has been a minimum spend on card transactions, which has forced people to pay for a full line route when they only wanted to go a few short stops.

Now, the Luas is doing away with the rule and we're definitely happy about it.

"There is no longer any minimum limit for Credit or Debit Card transactions at Luas Ticket Machines," reads a statement on the Luas information page.

"You can now use Credit or Debit Cards for purchases from €0 to €150 at any Luas Ticket Machine."

There are always some weird beauty hacks doing the rounds online, but the latest one is completely bonkers.

Beauty blenders have become the makeup application tool of choice for MUAs and mere mortals alike, but some beauty bloggers are mixing it up with a very unexpected tool.

Eggs are a pretty versatile food, but now they are being incorporated into our beauty routines.

A post shared by NADI (@officialnadi) on

According to a few in the online makeup community, hard-boiled eggs are the newest way to apply your foundation, contour and even eye shadow.

The experiment (or should we say, eggs-periment) was first undertaken by MUA Nadi, of Pop Luxe.

In a YouTube video, the makeup fan applied a full face of makeup using the protein-filled snack, and it went surprisingly well.

"Oh my gosh, this is actually working really, really well," he said.

"This kind of feels like a really cold SiliSponge but it smells like sewage, like eggs, so that's a turnoff — but it's actually doing a pretty good job."

Another beauty blogger, Esther Gbudje, also attempted the look and had a similar experience.

"The egg did give me the flawless look I was going for, and it doesn't absorb any product at all," she told Allure

We're not convinced that boiled eggs are about to take over from beauty blenders, but this experiment was pretty unique.

We just hope that their faces didn't have that distinctive eggy scent after application…

Every now and again, a fashion item comes around that divides the nation.

From Juicy Couture track suits to those plastic Topshop jeans, sometimes the weirder side of fashion can cause a major debate.

This week, the fashion world is trying to pass of some very amusing looking tote bags as haute couture, but the bags reminded Twitter of something a little closer to home.

Tweeters have been comparing the €2,900 Balenciaga bags to those plastic zip-up containers that duvets come in, and they're not wrong.

The only difference is, instead of having Balenciaga stamped on the corner, those plastic blanket bags probably say "king-sized" or "single."

Balenciaga Blanket Bag €2,900.00

There are probably about four of them stacked in your parent's hot press, so if you want to be totally on trend, ask you mam if you can borrow her guest room throw.

The bags are getting quite a bit of ridicule online, but we're sure the world of couture won't be paying any notice.

Lindsay Lohan has been flying relatively under the radar for the last few years, after her party-girl lifestyle became problematic for her public image.

The red-haired actress has been cleaning up her act, and is clearly making moves to return to the spotlight.

The actress recently revealed her new fashion line, and this morning the Mean Girls star took to Twitter to reveal her latest project.

Lindsay is heading up a new show called The Anti Social Network, in which she hacks people's social media accounts in order to make them do a series of dares.

The video, tweeted by the actress, shows Lindsay making one poor soul act as a nude model, perform last minute stand-up comedy, and seduce their boss.

If they complete the challenges, they win cash, so there's the incentive to get them to hand over their social media log-ins.

"I love social media. I mean, I am social media. Everybody knows you should never leave your phone lying around, especially near me," says the star in the promo clip.

We're actually kind of excited for this show, but as if we'd let Lindsay Lohan near our Facebook!

A petition has surfaced online to have a Fair City storyline scrapped, because honestly, everyone is a bit tired of it.

And we all know which one it is. Yep, the Katy kidnapping story.

Even if you're not a fan of the soap, you'll know that this story has been going on for nearly a year, and there still seems to be no resolution in sight.

While the soap's bosses may be thinking that this situation happens in real life, fans are calling out for the narrative to be over, as the kidnapper, Ciaran, is now moving on with his life, while Katy is still staring at four walls in each and every episode.

The online petition, which has gained thousands of signatures, reads: "Last May a girl called Katy O'Brien went missing in a soap called Fair City in Ireland. We eventually found out in September she was being held captive by a masked man and then it was revealed to be the most obvious person called Ciaran.

"Ciaran was introduced a few episodes just before Katy went missing and almost became part of the O'Brien family.

"He instantly became part of the community after getting a job off Paul Brennan. We later found out he also rents his own garage where he fixes motorbikes.

"He also rents a house in Dublin. For a singal man this is a lot of money. Whilst feeding/clothing a girl he's keeping locked up. Anybody who watches the show knows how tedious this is becoming.

The petition ends with: "I could write so much more. Ciaran got a woman pregnant and is living with her and her brain damaged sister who knows about Katy but she can't remember."

Katy is now sick from an unknown illness, and many of the Fair City characters seemed to have forgotten about her disappearance.

Hopefully a resolution will come quickly, however, RTÉ has yet to comment on the petition.

Anna Wintour's daughter, Bee Shaffer, has announced the great news that she is now engaged to Francesco Carrozzini, the son of the late Vogue Italia editor, Franca Sozzani.

According to People, rumours emerged that the couple began dating last autumn, after they attended a documentary about his mother together.

However, today Vogue confirmed the news of their engagement exclusively to People.

Even though they were both brought up by the most fashionable women of the twenty-first century, they took on different careers in the entertainment industry.
