Rita Ora has taken to social media to share her despair at the tragic Grenfell Tower fire, which has claimed the lives of 12 residents so far.

The singer showed up at one of the help points for the tragedy yesterday evening, to assist the residents and volunteers.

The star took to Instagram stories to share her efforts with her fans.

The singer can be seen among the local community helping them sift through bags of what appear to be donations.

Rita had previously taken to Instagram to say that she had played in the tower block as a child while growing up in the area.

'Shocked and devastated to hear this terrible news,' Rita said in a tweet.

'My heart goes out to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy in west London.'

In honour of Pride Month, Skittles have ditched their signature rainbow colours and have instead opted for a more monochrome look.

The black and white sweets are displayed alongside the brand's message: "During Pride, only one rainbow matters. So, we've given up ours to show our support".

Parent company, Wrigley, said that since the Skittles brand and the LGBT community both share the rainbow as a symbol, "Skittles has again given up its rainbow colours in order for Pride's rainbow to take centre stage".

The flavour remains the same, but given that all the sweets are the same shade of white, it's impossible to tell which combination you'll get.

Although it is great to see a major company offer support to such a worthy cause, the campaign hasn't been entirely well recieved.

Some have labelled the move as racist, with some asking “Why should whiteness mean equality?!”

At the moment these special Skittles packets are only available at Tesco stores in the United Kingdom.

Adele made it her mission last night to help the residents of the horrific Grenfell Tower fire, which has so far claimed the lives of 12 people, with many more still missing.

The Grammy Award winning star made an appearance at the 27-storey tower block last night.

The star was there with her husband Simon Konecki, comforting and hugging those who needed help.

'Adele was going around and hugging everyone she could to comfort them,' an Adele fan account wrote on Twitter.

Her appearance came less than 24 hours after a blaze destroyed the building.

Other celebrities such as Jamie Oliver and Jeremy Clarkson have paid online tributes to victims of the tragic fire.

Jamie Oliver invited the now-homeless residents to come to his restaurant for a comforting meal on the house.

'You are all welcome to come hang out in my restaurant and be fed and watered by my Jamies Italian team,' reads his Instagram post.

'We are in the Westfield just around the corner. Food and drink free of charge so just go and speak to my manager Juan and we will sort you out and give you some love.'

There's nowhere quite like Ireland on a hot day.

And because we so infrequently see the sun, there are few among us who don't bask in every second of its glory when it does actually appear.

With that in mind, you may need to prepare yourself for some serious basking as Met Éireann has forecast an absolute belter of a weekend.

With temperatures set to peak in the mid-20s, the entire country will enjoy warm, sunny spells across both Saturday and Sunday.

"A fine and dry day everywhere with warm sunny spells," reads the official forecast for Saturday.

"Cloudy at times in the north and northwest, but the south and east will have long spells of sunshine. Temperatures peaking in the low to mid twenties inland, but fresher near coasts due to sea breezes."

Of Sunday, they say: "Another fine and dry day for most. Long sunny spells generally, and very warm. Light variable winds."

Throw another shrimp on the barbie, ladies…

There are a plethora of gin festivals taking place in Dublin this summer, but one gin gala stands out among the rest.

The Dublin Bay Gin Cruise sounds like complete weekend goals, so if you're not hitting up Taste of Dublin or The 1975 gig in Malahide Castle, this could be an option.

The cruise involves an amazing gin workshop on board.

The private boat will coast around around Dublin Bay, while revellers indulge in crystal, strawberry and rosé gins.

Unfortunately, tickets for this epic endeavour are sold out, but there is still a chance to board the gin vessel.

According to the event managers, if you want to be in with a chance of being on board this weekend, you need to sign up for the waiting list.

'To get on the waiting list, or to hear about our next event (we run loads!) fire off an email to admin@jcisouthside.org with your name and phone number with the subject line "Waiting List for Gin Cruise"' advises the page.

Everything – yes, including the gin – is included in the ticket price of €40.00 if you manage to get past the waiting list.

If there's anything New Yorkers have in abundance it's creativity in the face of adversity.

Nothing will get in their way, not even the Metropolitan Transit Authority, capiche?

Last October, a new NYC transit rule came into effect prohibiting any animal from riding the subway, with the exception of service dogs and animals small enough to fit in a an enclosed container.

The new rule states: "No person may bring any animal on or into any conveyance or facility unless enclosed in a container and carried in a manner which would not annoy other passengers."

And of course, being the upstanding, law abiding citizens that they are, the people of NYC hav obeyed this new rule down to a tee.

Just take a look.

Pet-lovers of New York City, we salute you (and your four legged friends).

Following last month's horrific Manchester Arena attack, concert venues across the world have been cracking down on security.

Malahide Castle is following suit, with new rules surrounding what you can and cannot bring to gigs.

On the list are backpacks – a festival and concert staple.

A post shared by David Ramalho (@dramalho) on

'Backpacks and large bags will not be allowed in to the Malahide Castle Concerts, only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 (8.27in/21cm × 11.7/ 29.7cm) will be permitted into the event,' according to a statement released by MCD, so get measuring.

Attendees are advised not to bring a bag at all, as all bags will be searched on entry, and the venue hopes to avoid lengthy queues.

The venue is also introducing stricter searching tactics on entry, involving full body pat downs and the use of hand held metal detectors.

You will also be refused admission if found to be in possession of anything that can be perceived as a weapon or which could 'cause danger or disruption to any other persons at the event.'

MMA icon Conor McGregor is set to fight Floyd Mayweather in a boxing showdown of epic proportions.

Former boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather confirmed the fight via Twitter last night, uploading a video giving details of the upcoming boxing match.

The fight is scheduled for August 26 this year, and will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It will be a standard, 12-round boxing match with 10-ounce gloves

Conor McGregor also took to Twitter to confirm the fight, but in typical cheeky McGregor fashion.

The national treasure uploaded a side-by-side snap of himself and Mayweather's father, with the caption 'THE FIGHT IS ON,' which fans are speculation is a dig at Mayweather's age.

This dig comes two years after  McGregor told Esquire that he would 'kill' Mayweather in 'less than 30 seconds.'

It is reported that both fighters stand to earn $100 million from the fight.

To be fair, for 100 million dollars, even we would try to fight McGregor…

Hurray!

As of today, excess mobile roaming charges have been banned across the EU.

Phone users will now pay exactly the same price to make a call or send a text from anywhere in the European Union, and the same allowances you enjoy at home can now be used abroad without penalty.

According to the European Commission website, “your communications (phone calls, SMS, data) made from another EU country will be covered in your national bundle… Contrary to the past, you will not have to pay anything extra. No bill shock anymore.”

However, consumer bodies have warned that this information may not be entirely accurate after it emerged that the new laws don't cover data allowances for many Irish customers.

Prices vary from network to network, but it seems that Irish mobile phone users will only be entitled to a small percentage of their usual data allowance when travelling between EU member states.

Once the user has surpassed this allowance, a charge of €9.50 per gigabyte of data will then apply.

According to The Irish Independent, recent figures from Ireland's telecom regulator show that Irish customers are now using their phones more for internet access than calls or texts.

Many have criticised commission officials and Irish politicians for their failure to highlight this loophole, leading to fears that many Irish holiday makers will be hit with huge bills upon their return after they were led to believe they could 'roam like home'.

Most Irish mobile phone operators say will limit their customers data packages as much as possible, as roaming charges are a huge source of profitable income for the companies.

However, Vodafone users need not worry as the operator has promised to offer its customers the full amount of domestic while travelling the EU.

A woman has fallen in love in Lidl, but the man got away.

The unknown woman had been shopping in the supermarket in Deansgrange yesterday, when she noticed a man behind her in the queue.

She let the man in front of her in the line, and said that they spoke for a minute before he left the store.

And now she wants to find him.

Posted on Twitter by Rachel Kavanagh, the message was first shared in an admin group on Facebook, and Rachel thinks more people need to know about it.

The screen-shot message said: "Were you in Lidl, Deansgrange today, Tuesday 13th June at approx 2:15 (sic).

"You purchased cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and water? I'm the lady that let you ahead of me in the queue & we exchanged a few words," she wrote.

"I wish I'd had the courage to find out if you were single without coming across as completely deranged.

"If you know who this man is, please get in touch with Admin (sic)," the noted ended.

We'd love if these two Lidl shoppers found their way to each other!
