For professional athletes, there's nothing more rewarding than winning an Olympic medal.

For many competitors, years of hard work and determination go into competing in the Olympic Games, so you can understand the utter joy that this woman felt when she received the news she won a medal… nine years later.

Yes, British heptathlete, Kelly Sotherton, discovered today that she has been upgraded to a heptathlon bronze medal after testing revealed that Russian athlete, tatyana Chernova, was using steroids at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Kelly retired from competing five years ago, but left the Olympic circuit with two medals to her name.

She first won a bronze medal in the 2004 Athens Games for the heptathlon, which is a track and field combined event made up of seven courses.

And now she has been upgraded to a bronze medal for the 2008 Olympic 4x400m relay.

The accomplished athlete took to social media to share the moment she found out the news, and fans have been congratulating her since:

Spin the Bottle was one of those games that we were sceptical of playing, but took part in nonetheless.

Between the excitement and thrill of the game, most people ended up having an oul whale of a time.

And now, a new dating app has been inspired by it.

Spin the Bottle is the new exciting dating app which has recently been rolled out worldwide. Instead of a message being your first encounter with a potential love interest, Spin the Bottle uses video, so you have a more meaningful and authentic connection.

However, you need to be quick, because the live interaction video only lasts 30 seconds, and if you're interested in the person talking to you, all you need to do is give them a 'kiss' to see if you're a match.

We spoke to the founder of the app, Matt Cohen, about the origin of the Spin the Bottle journey, and of course, it was down to a few lousy dates.

"It all started with a few bad first dates. With online dating today, you don't really know who you're meeting until you show up for that first date. You don't know how they act, how they sound, or what their personality is like," Matt explained.

"As someone who has tried online dating myself, I've found that profiles and photos are often misleading and aren't the best representation of who the person really is. That's why we created Spin the Bottle."

Most of us know what it feels like to arrive on a date, only to regret it five minutes later. That's why Matt believes the video connection works to your advantage, as you can get a good idea of what the person is like the first time you see them.

"We believe that when it comes to online dating, video is better because it allows for face-to-face interaction right from the very first contact.

"By using live video as part of our matchmaking process, we are able to create better connections, better dates, and hopefully eliminate that awkward first date experience," Matt said.

When asked if he uses the app himself, the creator said, "I try go on every day. It's not only a great way to meet people, but it's also a lot of fun!"

If you think you'll be a bit shy on video and wouldn't know what to say, Matt believes that you should give everything a try because "you'll never know who you'll meet!"

We're loving the sound of this, and can't wait to give this new dating method a try.

Ivanka Trump was booed and jeered during her first international outing as a White House advisor following comments she made praising Donald Trump’s views on women.

She is in Berlin to participate in talks aimed at encouraging women’s economic empowerment, but it wasn’t long before to topic of discussion turned to her father.

In a video obtained by The Independent, a reporter can be heard asking the first daughter about the President’s attitude towards women, to which she replied, "I've certainly heard the criticism from the media, and that's been perpetuated."

She continued to defend her father’s actions, insisting that her own personal experience, and the experience of ‘thousands’ of other women did not add up with the media’s portrayal.

"He encouraged me and enabled me to thrive. I grew up in a house where there was no barrier to what I could accomplish beyond my own perseverance and my own tenacity."

The panel discussion was also attended by German Chancellor, Angel Merkel, and IMF director, Christine Lagarde.

This is not the first time Ivanka has been the subject of public criticism.

Just last month she was impersonated by Scarlett Johansson in a Saturday Night Live sketch

We don't usually get to see things like stretch marks or cellulite on the perfectly airbrushed Instagram feeds of image-conscious influencers and celebrities, which is why body positive accounts like the one run by Kenzie Brenna are so important.

Kenzie has committed her Instagram page to being one of celebration of all body types, and a place where the negative thoughts about our bodies are exposed.

The self love promoter recently posted a snap to her Instagram showcasing her stomach stretch marks, and had some words of wisdom to share about them.

A post shared by Kenzie Brenna (@omgkenzieee) on

'Does this affect the quality of who I am? No,' she captioned the post.

'Would it make you a better person if you got rid of these marks? No.'

'Would it make you kinder, more generous and a better lover if you had the money to erase them? No.'

'Then you're perfect. I don't feel perfect.That's cause perfect isn't a feeling.'

A post shared by Kenzie Brenna (@omgkenzieee) on

The YouTuber has posted a number of Instagram snaps celebrating her body and the bodies of other women, and has called out the double standards of sizeism and body shame numerous times.

'I love how people see me in full clothes and comment on how 'skinny' I look in them in comparison to these types of photos where the comments I get 'you're so brave. (Which I am) But, bravery requires an act of courage.'

'Courage isn't a characteristic we find in ourselves unless we are doing something out of strength, where the odds are stacked against us.'

A post shared by Kenzie Brenna (@omgkenzieee) on

'You don't tell a Victoria's Secret model that "they're so brave" for showing off their body or someone who is sculpted from a type of athleticism.'

'Bravery requires an acknowledgement of fear, possibility of loss, where chances of failure are high,' she said.

Posts like Kenzie's on social media are so necessary and important to remind us that flaws are in fact beautiful, and the things that we perceive as a negative don't actually affect who we are or the value of ourselves as women.

It’s no secret that Harry Potter has some pretty hard core fans.

The books and films have combined to become the most successful franchise of all time and even though the last film came out six years ago, the hype has never really died down.

You may identify as a Harry Potter super-fan, but in reality, you’ve got nothing on this girl.

Rebecca Sharrock, from Queensland, Australia, has memorised every word to every book.

Yep.

The 27-year-old is just one of 79 people worldwide to have a Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (HSAM), giving her the ability to remember just about anything.

Back in 2015, Rebecca appeared on the Austalian TV show, 60 minutes, to have knowledge about the series tested.

She proceeded to shock viewers when the presenters asked her if she knew the opening line of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, chapter 17.

She then shocked viewers by proceeding to effortlessly recite the story word for word.

"Chapter 17 is the man with two faces, and it starts on "It was Quirrel. You? gasped Harry,"

…. And so on.

Rebecca has recently been back making headlines after she uploaded a blog post where she claims to remember being a newborn child.

She wrote: ‘’My earliest memory of which I can date is from when I was twelve days old. My parents carried me to the driver’s seat of the car (my father’s idea) and placed me down upon it for a photo.’’

"As a newborn child I was curious as to what the seat cover and steering wheel above me were. Though at that age I hadn't yet developed the ability to want to get up and explore what such curious objects could be."

According to Cosmopolitan, Rebecca is now working with a team of researchers the University of California, the University of Queensland, and the Queensland Brain Institute, in order to try to find out more about how her truly amazing memory works.

It has been 10 years this month since Madeleine McCann, who would now be 14 years old, disappeared while on holidays with her family in Portugal.

Her parents Kate and Gerry McCann have posted an emotive message to the public to mark the moment.

Taking to the Official Find Madeleine Campaign Facebook page, her parents had this to say:

'Ten years- there's no easy way to say it, describe it, accept it.'

'I remember when Madeleine first disappeared I couldn’t even begin to consider anything in terms of years.'

'Shawn Hornbeck abducted and kept hidden for over four years, Natascha Kampusch for over eight years. I couldn't go there. And now here we are…Madeleine, our Madeleine- ten years.'

'Most days are similar to the rest – another day. May 3rd 2017 – another day. But ten years – a horrible marker of time, stolen time.'

'We are bracing ourselves for the next couple of weeks.'

'It's likely to be stressful and painful and more so given the rehashing of old 'stories', misinformation, half-truths and downright lies which will be doing the rounds in the newspapers, social media and 'special edition' TV programmes.'

The McCanns also expressed a feeling of hope for themselves and their family moving into the future.

'The two themes that seem most appropriate to me as we reach this ten year mark are perseverance and gratitude.'

'We will go on, try our hardest, never give up and make the best of the life we have.'

The police investigation into the disappearance of  Madeline McCann is ongoing.

Courtney Smith has been a style maven in Ireland for close to a decade, and last year she released her first collection with Shoe Lab.

We didn't think it could get any better, but Courtney is gearing up for the launch of her second collection and we're totally in love with it.

Speaking to the Style Icon nominee for the inaugural SHEmazing! Awards, she said that she wanted to keep the campaign very authentic: "The vibe for the shoot was to truly show people that kinda rock'n'roll vibe we were inspired by.

"Bring it back to music as the main influence which is why we shot in a recording studio," she explained.

The new campaign is staying very true to Courtney's unique style, and she wanted to show how she would style the boot collection with her own clothes.

"This season we felt it important to showcase my personal style more which is what inspired the collection in the first place, so all the clothing is actually from my own wardrobe… showing how I would style up my own boots."

And when asked about how she feels to be launching a second collection, she said that she couldn't be more over the moon.

"[A] second collection for me is a huge deal because it's only off the back of the success and demand from the first collection.

"We decided to be even bolder this time and kick it up a notch with the fabrics and styles too so I hope people will love them for summer, for festivals and in general really."

The Rock Luxe collection introduces The Bolans, The Stardust, The Blackhearts, The Richards and The Iggys. Fans will also be delighted to know that due to a huge demand, the Suzi Q boots are back from last season with a new green leather and suede combo.

The collection launches online and in store on May 2, and we basically want every single style available.

Is the word 'fat' offensive?

Technically, no. But the meaning we, as a society, have attached to that little three letter word has made it synonymous with shame and self-hatred.

Bethany Rutter, fashion blogger and writer for Red Online, has spoken out about the issue. In an article posted on the website, Bethany poses the question ‘’why would you be offended when someone considers you plus size?’’

She argues that phrases like ‘curvy’ or ‘plus-sized’ have become the ‘socially-accepted euphemism of choice’ when describing fat bodies and is rejecting the idea that these terms should be seen as polite or non-offensive.

She wrote, ‘’Describing myself as ‘fat’ is not an act of self-hatred, but an act of self-love. It took a long time for me to own it, but I got there, and remain there with defiance and aplomb.’’

Bethany admits that she never hated being fat, in fact she always liked the way she looked, but other people were not convinced that she could actually feel confident about her body.

‘’The problem was everyone else. It was films, magazines, books, my parents, PE lessons at school that made me wonder if I had got it all wrong.’’

It took a while, but Bethany was eventually able to take back control of the word that so many people had used in attempt to hurt or shame her and now uses the word with pride when talking about her body.

‘’I say it with respect and a refusal to participate in a hierarchy where thinness is aspirational, and fat is shameful.’’

‘’I say it to describe a body, to celebrate a body for what it is, not to wound it or treat it with shame.’’

Bethany signed off by asking readers to drop the politeness and simply call her body what it is, fat.

She’s okay with it and you should be too.

Esteemed astronaut Peggy Whitson has just set a major world record from the International Space Station.

The incredibly brave and admirable woman has been commanding the ISS for a total of 534 days, breaking world records for the longest amount of time spent by any human in space.

No big deal, just casually living in space for a year and a half.

This is her third long-duration space stay in her long and well-established cosmic career.

'It's actually a huge honour to break a record like this but it's an honour for me to be representing all the folks at NASA who make the space flight possible, who make me setting this record feasible,' she told POTUS Donald Trump when he rang her to congratulate her on her feat.

'It's a very exciting time to be at NASA. We're excited about the missions to Mars in the 2030s,' she said, referring to Trump's earmarking of a Martian exploration in the NASA budget.

'We actually have hardware on the ground being built for the SLS rocket for the test flights, which will eventually take us there. I'm so proud of the team.'

While residing in orbit, Dr Whitson and her team are attempting to understand how microgravity affects the human body over time.

'Peggy is a phenomenal role model for young women, and all Americans, who are exploring or participating in STEM education programs and careers," said President Trump, according to a NASA statement.

'As I have said many times before, only by enlisting the full potential of women in our society will we be truly able to make America great again.'

My torturous four weeks of not spending any money are finally drawing to a close, and frankly, I couldn't be more delighted.

Having free reign over my financial choices has always been something I've taken for granted, frittering away my wages on exorbitant rental prices, ordering in, and glasses of gin that are much too fancy for the likes of myself.

Embarking on the 30 Day No Spending Challenge was definitely no walk in the park (though I took many of those, seeing as it's free), but I definitely learned quite a bit about my personal spending habits during my fiscal fast.

For those who don't know, the 30 Day No Spending Challenge focuses on benefiting your bank balance through a tight budget for four weeks.

Most adventurers into this monetary management challenge stick to a budget of about €50.00 a week, to spend on groceries, transport and socialising.

The challenge omits things like rent and utilities, as it is all about making the most of your disposable income rather than getting you evicted.

The most difficult part was willing myself not to give in to my random splurges.

Seriously, the list of things I didn't buy this month because I was embarking on the challenge includes a gold coin festival bra, a faux Gucci belt (I was looking at too many bloggers' Instagrams that week) at least eight takeaways, a series of ASOS items and a selection of cacti.

As someone who takes Carrie Bradshaw's famous quote about liking to see her money hanging in her closet quite seriously, not purchasing clothes for an entire month was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be, but hey, the gold coin bra is still available so once pay day rolls around, it's mine.

Not caving to my food cravings was also pretty hard, and I'm not going to lie, there was an occasion where I did order in, completely blowing my weekly food budget on one delicious but ultimately unworthy meal.

The most valuable part of the whole venture wasn't the money I saved (though we will get on to that later) but the realisation and clarity that the challenge gave me when assessing where my money would have been going.

I kept a record of the things I didn't buy, a hangover from my oh-so frugal life as a student when I used to jot down all my expenses in an Excel sheet on my laptop, and I saved around €400.00 just by not giving in to my random coffee cravings and willing myself away from the computer screen during the ASOS sale.

To anyone considering taking on the challenge, I strongly recommend keeping track of everything you do spend and everything you don't spend on the way.

If opportunities come your way that you know are out of budget, jot them down to give yourself a better idea of how much you are saving per day or week as you go along to help keep you motivated.

My only other tips are to get used to public transport and make budget supermarkets your second home, but for a lot of people, those are very normal aspects of their lives anyway, myself included.

The trick here was to plan your journeys to be as cost efficient as possible, and also prepare your meal plans in advance so there is no opportunity to get side tracked at the supermarket.

Honestly, one day I had an intense longing for a pain au chocolat, and had intense separation anxiety from the bakery section after my trip, and that was because I hadn't quite prepared well enough for my grocery shop.

Avoiding the junk food and bakery aisles like the plague is a must.

As soon as I finish this final week of no spending, I'm buying enough pain au chocolats to block out the memory of my pastry-free month.

So, the big question, how much did I save and what am I going to to do with my freshly stashed dosh?

Well, if you must know, I saved €800.00 over the course of the month, most of which I'm going to put straight back into my student loan and get three or four months ahead in those loan repayments.

The rest is going on a good hair cut, a trip to my eyebrow technician, a packet of pastries and an absolute vat of gin.

Was it worth it? Absolutely.

Would I do it again? Well, as a means of saving for something big like a rental deposit or a holiday, this challenge is ideal, so I'd never say never to undertaking another fiscal fast in the future.
