Some people live life at their own pace and actively disregard society's attempt to pigeonhole them into certain roles at certain ages.

And others adhere strictly to a timeline, checking off certain milestones at certain ages.

If you're firmly in the latter camp, you may be interested to hear that a recent study has claimed to have established the perfect age to tie the knot in order to ensure a successful marriage.

Using data collected in the National Survey of Family Growth, American sociological researcher, Nicholas Wolfinge, established that the best age to take those vows is between 28 and 32.

Further to this, the findings concluded that couples who got married in their late thirties had a lower chance of splitting than those who wed in their late twenties.

Focussing on divorce statistics, the researcher learned that couples who wed as teenagers had a 38 per cent chance of divorcing in the first fve years of marriage in comparison to those who married in their twenties who stood a 28 per cent chance and those who married over the age of 35 who had a 17 per cent chance.

But apparently if you wed your significant other between the ages of 25 and 34, your chances of divorcing are much slimmer than at other times in your life.

Good to know… we think.

Parents in their 50s have been shot and are currently in hospital – after trying to protect their son.

The man and the woman refused to hand over their child to a Northern Irish gang, and were subsequently shot in the legs by the gunmen.

It is understood that the perpetrators of the attack are paramilitaries based in west Belfast.

They arrived at a house in the Turf Lodge area of the city yesterday evening at around 6.15pm, but the boy's parents bravely fought them off.

A police source told RTÉ News: "The parents wouldn't give the son over so they were shot instead. There are a number of other lads in Belfast under similar threat at the minute."

The parents are currently in a stable condition at Royal Victoria Hospital.

A local Sinn Féin politician, Pat Sheehan, was adamant that none of the family are involved in any criminality.

"There can be absolutely no justification for these type of actions," he told RTÉ. "Whoever is responsible needs to stop these barbaric attacks immediately."

Once the summer rolls around, most of us would step over our own mother to get our hands on tickets to our favourite music festival. (Sorry mam.)

But we'd draw the line at signing up to a weekend with a man who sounds like he's one Craigslist ad away from being on the FBI's Most Wanted List.

In a posting which was circulated widely before getting deleted, 56-year-old Gordon requested the company of a young woman for a weekend at Stateside festival, Coachella.

And while ostensibly the 'lucky' gal would be getting the ticket for nada, Gordon had, according to Some Life, a few stipulations which he would expect his guest to adhere to.

And this is where it gets very, very creepy.

We'll let Gordon take it from here…

"Ok here’s the deal. I have a VIP Pass for Weekend 2. I’m willing to give it away for free to the right person. I’m looking for a travel “companion” that can enjoy the festival with me and just have a good time," he wrote.

"I left my job as Supervising Manager at Soup Plantation and subsequently divorced my wife of 11 years. I cashed out my 401k and decided that moving forward, my life is all about having fun!"

And with that in mind, Gordon is all about finding the 'right one' to share in the 'fun'.

Here are just 20 guidelines Gordon would need you to stick to if you want to spend a week soaking up the sights and sounds of Coachella…with him.

1. Must be female between the ages of 19 and 25.
.
2. Must be comfortable traveling [sic] in a Recreational Vehicle (Vintage Shasta Chinook 3100 – pic attached.

3. Must have fashionable sense of style in the vein of typical Coachella goer (i.e. cute indian headband, small ripped jean shorts, lots of colorful bracelets, etc).

4. Preferably have a playlist of various Coachella artists on phone we can listen to on ride over.

5. Must keep hands and feet moisturized at all times.

And he doesn't stop there…

6. Must be open-minded and opportunistic.

7. Must be ok with periodic hand-holding (perhaps during certain sensual songs and while walking into the festival initially)

8. Fingernails and toenails must be nicely painted and harmonious with general color scheme of outfit.

9. I will provide snacks such as beef jerky and peanut butter sandwiches but if you have additional snacks and/or drinks…BIG BONUS!

10. Being social is fine but no excessive fraternizing with other male festival-goers, and male festival-goers, and most definitely NO PUBLIC AFFECTION with other festival-goers (violation of this rule results in immediate removal of Tropic Motor Motel room privileges and maybe even return ride).

Oh, there's more…

11. Periodic moments of extended eye contact.

12. Allow me to brush your hair once per day (not mandatory, but encouraged).

13. Must not be into drugs, pot ok.

14. Must take a minimum of four photos of us together and post them to your Instigram [sic] account.

15. Any personal grooming such as toenail clipping, eyebrow plucking or lipstick application must be done in my presence.

And the final (most terrifying) five…..

16. At least once during festival, you must allow me to carry you on my shoulders so you can see stage better (perfect time for instigram photo!)

17. At least twice during the festival you must tell me in a playful manner that 'I am naughty'.

18. At some point in time during the festival you must tell me that 'you didn’t know how this would go, but you’re actually having a really good time'

19. At least once during our stay after your shower, you must use the steam to write a cute message on the bathroom mirror for me to find later when I shower.

20. Must be ready to party and HAVE FUN!

Thanks Gordie, but we're going to have to pass.

James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff met on the set of Shameless and had the perfect on-screen relationship.

That transformed into a real-life relationship for nine years, only for them to separate last year.

They kept up appearances, but filed for divorce during the summer of 2016… and admittedly, our hearts were broken.

And now, James has opened up about how his life has changed since the break-up.

Speaking at the premiere of his new movie, Split, the actor said, "My life has changed massively.

"At the same time, so much has stayed the same. Even separated, we're still respectful of each other and committed to doing that publicly and personally."

It's good to see that there's no horrid fights or nasty jabs being thrown around. Still, we'll miss these two being together.

Unicorn everything blew up in 2016, but if you thought the trend was over, prepare to be mistaken.

Tasty, unicorn-themed treats have been all over our instagrams, from macaroons to doughnuts, but the latest confectionery invention is beyond dreamy.

These unicorn ice creams are the creation on baker Raymond Tn, a baker and food decorator based in Melbourne, Australia.

Ray is a self taught baker who comes up with the most whimsical, adorable sweet treats we've ever seen.

Raymond actually does giveaways of these pops over on his Instagram, so if you're not in the mood to fly to Melbourne to get your hands on some, an Instagram add might be a better option.

We're still kinda down about Pretty Little Liars coming to an end this year.

Yep, April will mark the last ever season of the show (possibly), but that doesn't mean our girls are leaving our TV screens forever.

In fact, one of the girls is hopping right back on it with a new reality TV show.

According to Variety, Shay Mitchell, who plays Emily Fields on PLL, has landed herself her own show and looking at the description, we're going to be obsessed.

Named Shades of Shay, the series will give "an intimate look at [Shay's] life and the next phase of her career," now that she's finished filming Pretty Little Liars.

Reports suggest that the show will not only cover her professional life, but also her personal life.

We're going to be glued to this.

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian just finalised their divorce in December, but it seems that Lamar is regretting his choice.

Appearing on talk show The Doctors, Lamar was asked: "Going forward, when you look at your life ahead of you, what are you looking forward to?”

"“Umm, honestly, I want my wife back,” he responded after a pause.

The former NBA player just completed a month long stint in a rehabilitation centre, which is why he was appearing on the show.

The 37-year-old is set to discuss his life after rehab, and clearly he wants Khloe to be part of it.

Looks like that whole Revenge Body thing is working, Koko.

The pair tied the knot in 2009, but split almost four years ago, amid rumours that the basketball player had cheated on his wife.

The divorce was delayed after Lamar fell into a coma after an alleged drug overdose in a Nevada brothel.

The two have remained friends, with the two a attending Kanye West show together and Khloe seeing over Lamar's hospital recovery.

Barack Obama surprised his right hand man, Joe Biden, yesterday by honouring him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Obama called Joe "the best vice president America's ever had" and also a "lion of American history."

The emotional ceremony saw Joe shed a few tears, and when Joey sheds tears, so does the whole world.

SO EMOTIONAL.

Here's the best reactions on Twitter:

We're not crying, YOU are.

If you've just endured a hellish day at the office, this recent footage may help to put things in perspective.

Australian news anchor, Amber Sherlock, went to town on her colleague, Julie Snook, when she realised they were both wearing white tops for the next segment of their live show.

Sounding like the girl everyone was afraid of in secondary school, Amber demanded that Julie change before expressing disbelief that she hadn't covered her white top on her first request hours before.

Looking like she's no stranger to Amber's attitude, Julie attempted to placate her co-anchor while the psychologist invited to participate in the segment looked on in discomfort.

And while Amber may have gotten her wish (Julie was given a jacket to wear), she has lost a lot of fans in the process.

Commenting on the footage which has amassed thousands of views on YouTube so far, one member of the public wrote: "For someone wearing white she really has shown her true colours."

"What a moron. please tell me she's been fired." added another.

Ladies, this makes for some seriously awkward viewing.

It’s staring us in the face, day in and day out, but it’s the last thing on our mind when it comes to cleaning.

The thoughts of sorting out the contents of our prized make-up bag, or washing brushes is just a painful thought; and, as our good friend Kimberly "Sweet Brown" Wilkins saidain’t nobody got time for that.

Even with the glorious brush cleaning devices that have swept the market, we still find the task as off-putting as any other chore.

But, spring is in the air, so perhaps it’s time to clean out that make-up bag sooner, rather than later.

Think of all those facial oils that absorb into the bristles of our much-loved brushes, and then think of all the bacteria that is now breeding on them – EUGH!

Taking into account their daily use, your make-up bag and applicators should at least get a weekly clean, or a wipe at the very least.

What you will need:

Brush cleanser

Cleansing shampoo

Hand towel or kitchen roll

Cleaning mitt or rubber gloves (optional)

1. The bag

You cart that bad boy everywhere, it lurks at the bottom of your handbag and your dirty brushes live in it, so washing it once a month will keep it in pristine condition.

Handwash it, or throw it in the machine if machine washable. You could use face wipes or baby wipes in-between to give it an extra spruce.

2. The Brushes

You slather, set, contour and make your face glow with these babies so treat them with a bit of TLC.

To keep them in good condition, your brushes and sponges should ideally be washed once a week.

Wash them individually using warm water and a cleansing shampoo. Don’t soak the brushes as this loosens the bristles, causing it to fall out over time.

Rinse well, pat dry with the towel, and leave to air dry on the hand towel or kitchen roll.

3. The Make-Up

Firstly, get rid of any out-of-date make-up or make-up you never use.

Mascara needs to be changed every three months, while lipsticks should ideally be changed every 6 months – anything over a year old is just bad.

Powder and eyeshadow containers get grubby too so, get a wipe or clean damp cloth, and wipe inside and out.

We all have our favourite shades of eye shadow or lipstick, but make up trends are forever changing and they also change with the season.

Updating your make-up colours with the seasons will keep you looking radiant all year round for example, bronzer looks great in the summer but out-of-place in the winter.

Go forth and clean, ladies

Of all the Kardashian sisters, Khloé is probably the most candid, so we've been waiting with bated breath for her to appear on James Corden's Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,

But, surprisingly enough, it wasn't actually Khloé who dropped the biggest secrets this time around.

After being asked to reveal who he considered the rudest celebrity, James admitted that our very own Pierce Brosnan was far from gentlemanly after bumping into him at a U2 concert.

After explaining that Pierce left the venue, James revealed that he and the people he was with attempted to move into that space before being removed by the Irish star.

"And literally, I've never felt anything like it. This arm went on here and just pushed me out of the way," James admitted.

Oh, and when Khloé decided to defend him? James was having none of it…
