Disney movies are staples of so many childhoods, right?

Who doesn't remember sitting in front of movies like Peter Pan, The Jungle Book and Bambi as a kid, totally engrossed?

However, what you might not have realised at the time was that there were lessons we were absorbing, all thanks to these stories.

A new study has discovered that Disney films help kids to process and deal with grief.

While this might sound a bit morbid, it is actually beneficial for young children to learn about tough subjects like death.

While you might think of Disney movies as happy stories filled with wonder, but there are many dark themes in some of your most loved childhood classics.

Take Bambi – we all shed a tear when his mum was shot by the hunter or when Claude Frollo was dropped from the rooftops in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and let's not forget when Simba desperately tries to wake Mufasa.

Being exposed to the topic of death is not all bad though – the study says that it has some benefits.

Study leader Professor Kelly Tenzek says, "These films can be used as conversation starters for difficult and what are oftentimes taboo topics like death and dying.''

She continues, "These are important conversations to have with children, but waiting until the end of life is way too late and can lead to a poor end-of-life experience."

It makes sense – so dig out the old faves.

Any excuse, right?

The co-founder and chief executive of the HQ Trivia app has been found dead in his lower Manhattan apartment yesterday morning, according to police.

Colin Kroll was found facedown on his bed after a woman rang 911 and asked for a police check-up in SoHo. Cocaine and heroin were discovered in his home.

Kroll also co-founded the formerly popular six-second video app Vine, which he sold to Twitter in 2012.

The app then closed down last year, and Kroll went on to work for Twitter before being fired for 'poor management' following allegations of inappropriate workplace behaviour towards women.

When HQ Trivia debuted in August 2017, the app became a viral sensation after millions of people came together for a livestreaming-interactive game which inspired numerous imitations.

Anyone who participates has the hope of winning money from answering trivia questions on their phones.

Rus Yusupov founded HQ Trivia alongside Colin Kroll, and has yet to respond to his death.

The norm is that comedians host the game show on their phones, and the difficulty of the questions increases by the round.

The company raised $15 million in venture capital funding, but Mr Kroll's workplace history deterred many investors, yet Mr Kroll has always denied that he ever sexually harassed women at work.

In a statement to Axios, he said;

“It was a painful experience, but an eye-opening one that served as a catalyst for professional development and greater awareness in the office.”

He continued;

“I now realise that there are things I said and did that made some feel unappreciated or uncomfortable. I apologise to those people. Today, I’m committed to building HQ Trivia into a culture-defining product and supporting the dedicated team that makes it all possible.”

In an interview with The New York Times last year, the entrepreneur said the company preferred to be based in NYC instead of San Francisco.

The Detroit native said that;

"Our inspiration is more from media and TV than it is from technology.” Livestreaming gaming platforms such as Twitch inspired the creation of HQ Trivia.

Kroll had previously worked as an engineering manager for Yahoo from 2007 to 2009, and then as chief technology officer at Jetsetter from 2009 to 2013, so had a wealth of technological and software engineering knowledge.

The cause of Colin Kroll's death has yet to be revealed.

Death is pretty much a given when it comes to Game of Thrones; whether it's the Red Wedding (RIP my heart), the Battle of the Bastards or just any kind of royal gathering, you're guaranteed to see bloodshed.

That being said, the upcoming and much-anticipated final season of the show will be pivotal when it comes to character killing, because the last one standing LITERALLY wins Game of Thrones.

*deep breathes* We're going to need a stiff drink to handle the tension and grieving which series eight will inevitably bring…

A new study published in the Injury Epidemiology journal tries to decipher the likelihood of characters meeting their bloody end, and has recorded data on 330 Game of Thrones personalities.

The data takes circumstances such as religious beliefs and social status into account based off each episode of the HBO smash hit show.

'What influences the chances of a character death?' we hear you ask. Author of the study, Reidar Lysad (he sounds like a character himself…) has said;

"The risk of death is high among characters in Game of Thrones.

By the end of the seventh season, more than half of the characters had died – 186 out of the 330 characters we included in this study – with violent deaths being the most common by far.!

Apparently, switching allegiance makes you a lot more likely to survive in the show, but sticking to your morals and principles increases the chance that you'll reach the end.

Probably because it's always the sneaky snakes who can con their way into staying alive…

Women and 'highborns' are also more likely to continue with their lives, rather than poor, male characters.

Which means… Queen of Westeros and General Nutjob Cersei Lannister might end up being the last gal standing. *gasps* but her prophecy??

Jaime Lannister, Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister all have higher chances of survival because of their tendency to switch sides, and their high status.

One in seven characters actually died within the first hour of their introduction, and the fastest end to a character was just 11 SECONDS. Good God, no one is safe.

The regular character is alive for roughly 29 hours, and only two deaths were from natural causes.

In Westeros, anything goes. They could all die, TBF, and the throne will be left icy and barren.

The outcome of the show is always unpredictable, and aims to be different than the expected.

As the saying goes; “When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die”.

Sarah Hyland has left social media following the bullying she experienced online in the aftermath of her cousin's tragic death.

Her 14-year-old relative lost her life in a heart-breaking car accident over the weekend.

The actress uploaded a Go Fund Me page to her Twitter, stating that a man named Jeffrey Eggerling was the driver who hit her uncle's car, and he tried to run from the scene.

"Jeffrey Eggerling is a murderer. May he rot in hell."

She also asked if her fans could donate to the page to help pay for funeral expenses of her 14-year-old cousin, which backfired.

The backlash came when Twitter users angrily stated that she could afford to pay for the funeral from her own salary, and that there was no need to ask others to contribute.

In a series of tweets, the Modern Family star explained the sense of grief and pain which her cousin's death brought, which was exacerbated by online trolls;

She continued; saying "your horrible negative ignorant words have broken me. Happy? Staying offline for a while."

She presumably has contractual obligations to promote her TV show, so the exception to her social media hiatus is for this purpose only.

Some Twitter users declared that because her net worth is roughly $9 million, she should pay for the funeral herself rather than asking her fans for money which they may not have;

Others claimed that we don't actually know what her assets are, and presumably she has already contributed to the funeral costs, which is no one's business.

Many fans rallied behind her during this tough time, and we agree that when someone is mourning a great loss, attacking their net worth is just a low blow.

We hope she can get through this difficult period in her life, and offer condolences for her cousin's death.
