Mark Salling has reportedly died at the age of 35.

According to TMZ, the former Glee actor is believed to have taken his own life.

The actor's attorney Michael Proctor confirmed his death to People, "I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning. Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment. He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother."

He added, "The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected.”

His body was found at the Los Angeles River in Sunland.

He was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.

Two Irish holiday-makers have been killed in separate incidents abroad.

20-year-old Alex McGourty from Sligo died after his group were caught up in flash-floods while kayaking in the River Abanico, Eucador.

A search is continuing for three other kayakers, while a fifth has been found alive.

Meanwhile, police in Thailand are investigating the circumstances around the death of a Donegal woman.

Louise Furey, 27, from Glenties who had been living on the Channel Islands, was holidaying in Koh Samui when she fell from a hotel balcony.

The Glenties Community Development Group said on Facebook the town is "numb with shock".

“On these saddest of sad days in our wee town we offer our sympathies, condolences and support to the Furey family and friends on the tragic news of Louise, “ the post read.

"The town is numb with shock after the news came to town on Saturday about Louise’s accident. Sympathies to Brid, Daniel, Aine, Celine, Rosaleen, extended family,friends and her boyfriend Sam."

The Department of Foreign Affairs says it is aware of both cases and is providing consular assistance.

The search for the gunman involved in a fatal shooting in Dublin continues this morning.

A 27-year-old man was shot multiple as he sat in his car at the Brideview Halting site in Roanstown yesterday afternoon.

He was discovered by two friends who returned to the vehicle after hearing gunshots.

The State Pathologist and members of the Garda Technical Bureau attended the scene yesterday evening and a forensic examination is due to continue today.

A second scene has been preserved on Crag Ave where a car was located on fire shortly after the incident.

It's understood the victim was aware his life was in danger and had received a formal Garda information letter warning of threats made against him.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact the incident room which has been established at Lucan Garda Station.

Tributes are pouring in following the death of an Irish teenager who was killed in a tragic accident while on holiday in Lanzarote.

Stephen O'Gara, from Ballaghaderreen in Co Roscommon, died after the quad bike he was driving collided with a car in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 19-year-old was visiting the region with his mother Maureen and his grandmother.

According to The Irish Independent, local TD John O'Mahony described the incident as a “terrible tragedy.”

“He was a young lad just starting out in life. A few of the family were away on holidays and for this to happen is such a shock,” he said.

“In a small community something like this affects an awful lot of people. When it happens abroad it is even harder because the community is not able to offer the same support to the family,” he added.

It's understood that relatives have now travelled to Lanzarote to be with Stephen's mother and grandmother.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said: “We are aware of this case and providing consular assistance to the family.”

Gardaí in South County Dublin have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body in a public area earlier this morning.

The body of the man, believed to be in his 30s, was made by a woman in a laneway in Dalkey.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8am.

The deceased has yet to be identified and the cause of death is still unknown, however reports suggest Gardaí are treating the death as suspicious.

Emergency services are currently at the scene while the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Burea have been notified.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for information following the discovery of a man's body in Co Limerick city last night.

The body of a man, believed to be in his forties, was found in a flat on Little O'Curry Street at around 6pm yesterday evening.

The scene has since been sealed of pending a forensic examination and the State Pathologist has been notified.

Investigators say they are investigating “all the circumstances” surrounding the man's death.

A young man has died following a road traffic accident in Co Longford in the early hours of Saturday morning. 

The single vehicle collision occurred at Lissagernal outside Newtownforbes shortly before 1am. 

The 22-year-old man was the sole occupant of the vehicle nad was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Local diversions remain in place.

An Irishman has died in a kitesurfing accident in Thailand.

The 43-year-old, who had been living in the country for a number of years, got into difficulty shortly after midday at the beach Hua Hin district.

It's understood that officials in the area had warned against watersports due to the dangerous conditions brought about by an approaching storm.

According to The Irish Sun, the man's kite-board control line became entangled with a lifebuoy and he subsequently drowned in heavy surf.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the situation and is providing consular assistance.

Shelbourne FC have released a statement following the untimely death of 16-year-old Izzy Dezu, who died after collapsing during a Dublin and District Schoolboys Under-16 match against St Kevin’s Boys last night.

It has been established that the teenager became unwell during the second half of the match and was treated by paramedics from Dublin Fire Brigade before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital .

Tragically, Izzy lost his fight for life and was pronounced dead at the Dublin hospital.

Paying tribute to the teenager, Shelbourne FC said: "We are heartbroken to have to confirm the news that our Academy U16 player, Izzy Dezu, collapsed and died during a match last night."

"The thoughts of everyone at Shelbourne FC are with his family and friends who have been devastated by his tragic loss. May he rest in peace."

St. Kevin’s have taken to Twitter to remember the young footballer, writing: "We at St Kevin’s Boys Fc would like to pass on our condolences to the family, friends and everybody at Shelbourne Football Club after their young academy player Izzy Dezu collapsed and died in a game last night."

"Very sad news. Rest In Peace, young man," they added.

A 20-year-old woman has been charged over the death of Irish teenager, Jacob Cummins.

Aya Hishmeh, from Perth, Australia, was behind the the wheel of a car when it struck a group of people on Eucalyptus Boulevard, in Canning Vale, last Thursday afternoon.

According to reports, the driver mounted the path and drove at speed towards the teenagers.

17-year-old Jacob was killed in the incident and four others were seriously injured.

Appearing before Perth Magistrates Court over the weekend, Ms Hishmeh was charged with Jacob's murder as well as the attempted unlawful killing of four others.

She was remanded in custody and is due to appear again in January, 2018.

Jacob's friends and family held a beach vigil in Scarborough in his memory on Saturday morning.

The bodies of two men, both aged 22, have been found in Dublin in the last 24 hours.

Emergency services were called to a house on Woodville Avenue, Lucan at around 3pm yesterday afternoon, after a young man was found with a suspected gunshot wound to the chest.

The scene has been preserved overnight pending the arrival of the Garda Technical Bureau this morning.

It's understood the man, who was training as a plumber in Co. Limerick, had been out with friends on Saturday night, though no motive has yet been established.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Meanwhile, a second man was found with a head injury at a Luas stop on Ranelagh Road shortly after 4.30am on Monday morning.

The 22-year-old was rushed to St James's Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination and Gardaí are reviewing CCTV images of the area.

The body of a woman, who is understood to be a rough sleeper, was discovered in Cork city centre at approximately 11am today.

According to a report in The Irish Times, the woman, who is believed to be in her 40s, was found on Lower Oliver Plunkett Street in the city.

She had been availing of homeless services in Cork for a number of years, and her body was found in the vicinity of a shelter run by Cork Simon Community.

Gardaí are not said to be treating the death as suspicious, and the woman's body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem examination will be conducted later today.

The woman's death brings to to three the number of rough sleepers who have died on our country's streets since last week.
