Boots

Gigi Hadid is popular in the style department here in Shemazing!, and we are totally loving her new collab with Stuart Weitzman.

The model has designed a collection of identical boots with three colour options; bronze, silver or black snake-print.

The Gigi Hadid boots are here! Yep, she helped design them

According to Glamour, "the hiker-inspired high heel combat bootie was designed by Gigi and reflects her sleek street style and fashion-forward flair."

However, they're going to set you back over €500 so you might want to start saving.

James Franco (we know, weird one) directed the two-minute ad for the boots where Gigi is seen boxing in them.

We have to say, even in heels, the girl's got some moves.

Boots has recalled one of its very popular skin care items due to an outbreak of skin reactions.

Botanics All Bright cleansers in 250ml bottles have been removed from the shelves and the retailer is asking you to stop use immediately.

Boots released a statement on its website, saying: "We have recently discovered that a batch of Botanics All Bright Cleanser 250ml (batch 1H) does not meet our stringent quality standards and in rare cases may cause a localised skin reaction.

"As a precautionary measure we are recalling this batch of product and ask you to stop using it and return the product to your nearest Boots store where you'll receive an exchange, alternative product or a refund.

"The batch code number can be found on the base of the product." The recall number is 01005441.

Flip flops and gladiator sandals are all well and good, but come Autumn/Winter there’s nothing quite like a new pair of boots.

And while we are loving this year’s backless loafer trend, with plenty of rain guaranteed for the coming months, we think a decent pair of boots would fare the Irish fashionista that bit better.

On that note, here are three of our favourite boot trends for Autumn/Winter.

The Sock Boot: Sock boots are everywhere this season and with every colour, texture and heel height to choose from, there’s bound to be a pair to suit all tastes.

The Trophy Boot: Why not let your feet do the talking with a pair of on point trophy boots?  From soft floral embroidery to stand-out animal prints, the trophy boot is one of A/W16’s best trends.

The Over-The-Knee Boot: This style was everywhere last winter and with The Guardian dubbing it the “footwear [trend] of the decade” we don’t think it’s going anywhere fast.  Whether worn with a short suede skirt or over a pair of jeans, the over-the-knee boot will have you Autumn/Winter ready.

We've all had a Monica from Friends situation. You spend all your wages on a brand new pair of boots (that you have been lusting after FOREVER) that you plan on wearing everyday, but in reality you struggle to wear them until lunch time.

It's a truly horrible situation, so here's a few tips to save you from hobbling your way through the winter:

1. Look for soft leathers and suedes. You should pay attention to where the seams are inside the shoes and if they will rub across the sides of your toes.

2. Opt for a boot that supports your natural arch and doesn't feel too flat. The more support you receive in the shoes, the longer you will be able to walk.

3. Look at the shape of the shoes in the front, if it's narrow and shallow in depth it can squeeze your toes which can cause corns and blisters. So test the shoes by moving your toes to see if they are too restricted.

4. Avoid cotton socks, as they can be abrasive when moisture is absorbed. Nylon socks reduce friction.

5. To keep your feet dry, powders like talcum and corn-starch are effective. There are also tapes you can apply like moleskin and zinc oxide tape to prone areas.

When you think of UGG boots, you probably think of the year 2003.

And that's fair enough. The Australian company basically took over the footwear market (as far as teenage girls were concerned) in the early noughties.

If you remember correctly, Juicy Couture and Von Dutch trucker hats were also a pretty big deal at the time.

Today however, they have basically become a taboo in the fashion world. They don’t even make it into that ironically vintage category yet.

Except the brand is evolving. In fact, over the last number of years, Ugg boots have been getting a serious makeover. The results? Not the fluffy contraptions you had come to know so well.

In January, Vogue was all about embracing the "ugly shoe". They look great with a vintage dress and chunky knit, and according to the fashion bible's own Laura Weir:  "That's how I wore mine in the South of France last summer."

Quite a change from how we have come to view the fuzzy boots since they first arrived:

Below are just some of the samples we found on their website, and we have to admit, they're not half bad.

You can’t really deny that Ugg boots were a real winner in the comfort department, so we shall have to wait and see how the new and improved versions fare.

Not a hint of fleece to be found here (€190):

Not just boots anymore either (€160):

The UGG take on the over-the-knee trend (€230):

These might be our favourite pair so far (€190)

This pair are fully lined with sheepskin… such luxury (€420):

While we enjoy sandals and summer fashion as much as the next girl, there is something about winter boots that we kind of love.

To be fair, kicking around piles of crunchy leaves doesn't have quite the same appeal if you're going to end up with soggy foliage stuck between your toes.

This is why we get very excited when seriously stylish winter boots appear in the shops. We don't love the possibility of blisters or sore ankles however. To avoid any unnecessary aches we put together some clever footwear hacks to keep your toes comfy.

Deodorant FTW:

That Achilles' heel gash is not pretty. To prevent your shoes from digging into your skin, take a stick of clear deodorant and rub over any problem areas. The deodorant provides a barrier between you and the shoe.

Time for tea:

And if, despite your best efforts, you still find yourself home with painful blister-covered feet, rest assured, there is a cure: Fill a pot with cooled green tea and soak your swollen feet. Its anti-inflammatory properties will work wonders on tender areas that are achy and inflamed.

Sand your shoes:

Those new Mary Janes are adorable, but sliding down a flight of stairs is…not. Grab a piece of fine-grit sandpaper and gently scuff up the bottoms before wearing them in public.

Invest in insoles:

Sometimes even flat boots can hurt us.  A pair of slim cushions won’t take up room but will work wonders on that stiff pair of flats or heels.

Heel caps:

For the times when you just can’t make it to the cobbler, this genius invention is all you really need. Pop a cap on the end of worn-down heels and no more rolled ankles, or embarrassing stumbles.

Tape your toes:

Tape your third and fourth toes together with medical tape. There’s a nerve located directly between these two toes and wrapping them helps minimize any strain. Extreme, but if you're set on wearing your favourite new shoes despite the agony they cause, maybe you will give it a go.

Taken from her own collection with Bourbon (natch), the black ankle boots sport gold-zip detail on the inside, as well as contrasting textured suede.

The 8cm block heel (hello, comfort) make them especially suitable for the a/w season, keeping your stylish footsies snug and dry.

The boots are priced at €130 and are available from 80 Bourbon stockists nationwide or from bourbonfootwear.com.

Amy, 36, who is currently finishing off a movie script and is also shooting a new feature-length film, has two young children with her former rugby-player husband, Brian O'Driscoll.

She furthermore has a total of FIVE shoe collections to her name, the first of which was unveiled back in 2012.

Fans include the likes of Pippa O'Connor and Ms Huberman launched the most recent range just last week.
