5 Ways to Accessorize Pearl Jewelry with your Wedding Dress

Pearls and wedding dresses are a match made in Heaven – or at least this is what ancient Greeks thought. Our ancestors believed that wearing pearls on your wedding day will bring good fortune, loyalty, prosperity, stability, and we tend to believe them. After all, what other natural gems look more delicate, more feminine, more elegant and shining than veritable pearls?

Today we will talk about five different methods to accessorize pearl jewelry with your wedding dress, leaning you in on a secret: no matter what style, type, and color of the dress you choose, you will undoubtedly find pearl jewelry that matches it and enhances your beauty. Also, remember that not all pearls are white and that they are so incredibly versatile, you can wear them any way you like!

Are you ready for a glamorous “wedding of the year” look?

1.      A Multi-Strand Pearl Necklace for a Flowy Boho Dress

Flowy boho wedding dresses in simple, yet feminine cuts, work best with similar flowy, loose, deconstructed pearl necklaces.

When you go out to buy a real pearl necklace for your upcoming wedding, you should look for a multiple-strand one. Such a deconstructed natural pearl necklace features natural pearls in various sizes and shapes, set in a delicate design that creates the illusion that the pearls float around your neck. If you want a bit of glamorous shine for your boho look, pick a baroque necklace with colored gems inserted here and there: pink, champagne, or gold.

Another tip, when you match the pearls’ white with the dress’s white, would be to make sure the nuances match. Go ivory for ivory and crisp white for crisp white to avoid any nuance clash between the dress and the jewelry.

Moreover, for such a fairytale-like boho bridal attire, consider small diamonds as well (the earrings or the wedding ring) to add the exact amount of shiny glam your look needs to make the difference between a rustic wedding and a boho one.

2. A Pearl Feathery Hairpiece for a Retro Wedding

Source: Deposit Photos

We love retro wedding themes and vintage wedding dresses, as it is already obvious for everyone, so we will, of course, favor all the pearl accessories that can complete and compliment a retro-style bridal outfit.

Pearls and feathers have something surreal to them when they blend in the same bridal accessory. Call it the Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, call it the Great Gatsby Glam, or the Tune of the Sixties – it does not matter. Such a feather-and-pearls headpiece (with or without a veil) is something to die for if you plan a retro wedding party with a retro wedding dress.

3. The Illusion Bridal Set with Diamonds for the Glam Wedding

Source: Deposit Photos

You want to look like a queen on your wedding day, and this is precisely what happens when you pick an illusion bridal set. The “illusion” is a new design style in pearl jewelry these days that makes pearls look like they are loose against your skin.

A blend of white pearls and diamonds in a designer’s necklace around your beautiful neck is probably the most fabulous thing people saw since Princess Diana’s 11-strand ruby pearl necklace.

An illusion-style bridal pearl set is an excellent choice for a fabulous dress and hairdo. First of all, if the gown is strapless, the illusion becomes flawless.

Secondly, if you intend to wear your long hair in a complicated updo, get your hands on the matching illusion pearl and diamond earrings for an unforgettable effect.

The diamond pins in your hair will complete the look, and you will need no other accessories, because the pearls will steal the show.

4. The Oversized Glam Earrings for the No-Nonsense Bride

Source: Pinterest

Some wedding dresses come with a sweet mix of modern and retro for women who love straight and straightforward cuts, soft lines, and no bridal pizzazz whatsoever. However, such a dress can look rather simple if you do not pump up the volume with some fantastic pearl jewelry.

If you were worried about the newer pearl earrings designs, do not be. They are not all flowery and girly, going against your sweet tomboy attitude. In other words, you are free to pick a white dress looking like a business suit as long as you add the wedding glam in the shape of postmodern, chunky, and fabulous pearl earrings.

You cannot go wrong with some designers’ creations, as they mix pearls, metals, and beads in unique shapes and colors. And, because we know you are the type of practical, no-nonsense girl, rest assured: your bridal earrings will make exquisite jewelry for anything casual, formal, or glamorous you will wear from this point on.

5. The Massive Statement Pearl Necklace of the Postmodern Bride

Source: Pexels

Did we mention that pearls do not come only in shades of white and ivory? We did. Let us put this example to good work. Some bridal pearl necklaces have nothing of the discrete feminine suppleness of your mother’s pearl strand. Oh, no!

Some new designs feature chunky oversized pearls (South Sea and Freshwater are the sizeable ones) in a multitude of glamorous and statement-like colors: white, South Sea golden and South Sea silver pearls, all in the company of chunky ghetto golden or silver chains.

For such an outstanding piece, you only need a strapless wedding dress and an updo. Leave everything else to the necklace, as it will make you shine bright like a movie star on her way to getting the Oscar statue.

Such a piece – being massive and flashy – does not need further styling or adorning. You can wear your wedding band and call it THE DAY.

Conclusion

The moment you get your hands on natural pearl jewellery, the world is your oyster. You can comfortably wear some pearl pieces with casual, business, or street-smart outfits for the rest of your life without the pearls looking boring or outdated for a second! Remember that pearls are making a huge comeback and all you need is a bridal piece or set to build your look around them.

Body shaming can happen to women of any size or shape, and can happen on a public platform when you work in Hollywood.

Actress Chloe Grace Moretz has spoken out about her firsthand experience with having her physique criticised, and at a seriously young age.

Chloe spoke to Variety about a horrible instance of body shaming, which happened to her when she was just fifteen.

A post shared by Chloe Grace Moretz (@chloegmoretz) on

'This guy that was my love interest was like, ‘I’d never date you in real life,’ she began.

'I was, ‘What?'” she said. “And he was like, ‘Yeah, you’re too big for me’ – as in my size.”

He was 'one of the only actors that ever made me cry on set,' she continued, declining to name the culprit.

A post shared by Chloe Grace Moretz (@chloegmoretz) on

'I went bawling to my brother and he was like, ‘What happened?’,And I was like, ‘He told me I was too big.’ And my brother was like, ‘What just happened?’ My brother was so angry.'

'I had to pick it up and go back on set and pretend he was a love interest, and it was really hard.'

'It just makes you realise that there are some really bad people out there and for some reason, he felt the need to say that to me.' she continued

A post shared by Chloe Grace Moretz (@chloegmoretz) on

'You have to kind of forgive and not forget really, but it was just like wow. It was jarring. I look back on it and I was 15, which is really, really dark.'

Chloe went on to describe another occurrence, in which she was ostracised from her film crew due to the actions of her male co-star.

'They have this inferiority issue and I’m like, ‘You are completely equal to me, you are no different than me. I just happen to be the lead in this movie, and I don’t know why just because you are kind of the smaller character that you’re pushing me into a corner to try and put me down.'”

Kudos to Chloe for speaking out on the dual issues of equality and body shaming.

At this stage we all know that Instagram is not the most reliable of sources if you're looking for raw photography.

In fact, it's probably the last place anyone of us would look if we wanted an authentic depiction of a person or a place, and yet time and again we find ourselves coveting the lives of others as presented in a carefully-filtered upload.

Eager to remind us that something as innocuous as a good pose can alter your perception of a person, fitness blogger, Lauren Tickner, uploaded three shots taken 30 seconds part which prove that the images we are exposed to on Instagram are not a genuine depiction of reality.

I wish someone would look at me the way I look at my @pescience shaker…‼️I was 'supposed' to train today. But instead… I LISTENED to my body. I am taking a rest day It won't ruin my progress, and this caption explains why(P.S I uploaded a new YouTube vid this morn, the link is in my bio) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've been feeling exhausted, sluggish, grumpy… and just not myself the past few days! I have been EXTREMELY irritable, overeating every evening… and it occurred to me last night: it's because I am so goddam exhausted! This has caused both my stomach and my anxiety to flare up, too⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ‼️I know that this extra rest day will NOT damage my progress. Why? …OVERALL TRAINING VOLUME Sure, I usually train 4 days per week. But this week, I'll train 3 time & it won't ruin my progress whatsoever! The most important thing throughout the week is total training volume: if you are still hitting the reps and sets at the weight you 'should' be hitting (with good form), you WILL progress, despite how you choose to split that up.This is the beauty of the #StrengthFeedGuide: it teaches you how to do this & gives you options for training programmes (yep, three programmes in one guide): you can get it at: www.strengthfeed.comIt also teaches you HOW to create your OWN training plan (aka you get to select from over 100 exercises & slot them in, in the most optimal way) Sunday I will be sending out three days worth of workouts taken from the guide for you to try, if you're on my email list! Sign up by swiping up on my story! I LOVE training so incredibly much – it is why and how I have been doing this whole 'fitness' thing for so long. It truly is my passion, as well as helping others. However, at this moment in time, I don't have the option to take a nap or sleep a little longer at night: I get home at around 7:30PM. After cooking, eating, doing any chores (washing up, tidying), it's time for me to sleep so I'm not tired for work the next day! I wake up at 5AM to train, before I get the train at 7ish…so, my only option was to ditch the gym, jump out of bed& dash to the train. I feel SO much better for it #StrengthFeed

"POSTURE changes EVERYTHING! Posing is SO powerful: what you see of people on social media is NOT how they look 24/7 in real life!" she began in a post which has been liked more than 32,000 times.

"I know that if I arch my spine and pop my hip, I can make my stomach look flatter & my butt look bigger. Of course, some people DO have big bums & flat stomachs."

"Similarly, slouching and 'letting go' of my stomach after a big meal makes it appear more bloated: it's just how it is!" Lauren continued. "Tucking your spine will make your butt look flatter: you can literally make your body look SO different, just by standing differently!"

Tucking your spine will make your butt look flatter: you can literally make your body look SO different, just by standing differently! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ People will always speak negatively about others: it's horrible, but sadly it is just a fact of life. I receive all of these comments all the time, but thankfully for the more negative ones, I have thick skin. I used to even say these things to myself BUT now I have learned that if I see a 'bad' photo of myself, it is OKAY!!!!! It doesn't matter!!! As we see here, angles and posture are eveeeerything! Similarly, IDGAF if other people want to comment mean things, because I have learned to accept my body and love it for what it is. Your body is so incredibly powerful: give it some credit I also know how to pose to make myself look 'best'. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don't care how 'overdone' people say these photos are: I think they are SO important. I sometimes still stumble across a photo and think "agh, I wish I looked like that…" BUT, they uploaded that photo for a REASON! They probably took 10000 others and chose that ONE photo. (I know I'm guilty of taking looooads before having ma money shot) PLUS, for all I know, they photoshopped that photo! Take EVERYTHING with a pinch of salt! #StrengthFeed – EDIT: this photo is to prove a point- sometimes one may see a photo of themselves and think 'agh, I hate how I look' …but then you have to remember that you may just be MOVING & caught off guard, so your body isn't looking 'normal'! Yes, I know I am overemphasising each 'pose'- P.S, purchase my training/macro-tracking guides at: www.strengthfeed.com

Three years ago, all I cared about was 'fitness'.. I would go to the gym for 2.5 hours every single day, eat only food that were my definition of 'clean' (v limited handful of foods), and neglect my friends and family in order to pursue my unrealistic goals. I wanted to reach a number on the scale that was simply unrealistic for my body (it was 8 stone, and in the pic on the left I was around that). On the right, I'm almost a whole stone more than that. But weight is irrelevant, it's the mindset shift that matters. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ …what I refused to admit was that my idea of 'fitness' was making me unfit. Mentally. I was lying to myself and telling myself that what I was doing was making me better, making me stronger. But it was making me weak and frail, not only physically. I didn't understand how people loved themselves and I said things to myself that I would never DREAM of saying to anyone else. My panic syndrome was awful and debilitating, causing me to even have to leave school early almost every single day. (This is something I still struggle with today but VERY rarely). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was constantly comparing myself to others (especially my 'idols' on social media). But remember, you can't compare your chapter 3 to anyone else's chapter 300. Let alone a whole different book! I have been weight training consistently for the entire time between these two photos, and I have learned a LOT along the way. I have now realised that you CAN eat a LOT and maintain an athletic frame – your body NEEDS the fuel for training! I now track macros and eat 2500 calories per day, and train just 4 days per week!#StrengthFeedGuide #StrengthFeed #FitnessJourney

Also acknowledging the backlash Lauren received since sharing the post earlier this week, one Instagram user wrote: "How can such a positive post cause so much hate?"

"Thanks for showing me I'm not the only one and that's normal,"added another.

No matter how many times we're reminded of the disparity which exists between reality and social media, it never hurts to check back in and see for ourselves.

As far as we’re concerned, the best time to reach for an alcoholic drink is when you’ve officially had it up to here with life, and need a quick sip to take the edge off.

And that, ladies, is why we let the experts tend to the scientific research because we are, in fact, a little short of the mark on this one.

According to research compiled by the health and wellbeing firm Forza Supplements, the best time to chill-out with the first drink of the day is 6.10pm – four hours before we go to bed to maximise liver recovery time.

And it’s not just alcohol that our body clock has a specific response to, either.

The recent findings suggest that there exist optimum times for a number of activities, from work and sex to exercise and sleep.

The best time to have sex is at 7.30am – around 45 minutes after you wake up because energy levels are at their highest after a good night's rest which means you have more stamina.

The rush of endorphins sparked by sex lowers blood pressure and stress levels and makes us feel more upbeat for the rest of the day.

And once you’ve gotten down and dirty with your other half, researchers claim the individual is best suited to work-related tasks.

Apparently, our concentration levels peak three hours after we wake up so the best time to do the most taxing jobs at work is around 9.45am as your memory, focus and creativity levels are at their best.

And now to exercise.

Studies have found that strength is at a low point in the morning and gradually climbs until it peaks in the early evening.

So, if you’re a gym bunny with a focus on weights, you’re likely to do your best work in the early evening.

And where does sleep feature in all of this?

Well, researchers assert that the best time for sleep is at 10.10pm – allowing for 20 minutes to get to sleep and 90 minutes of the most restorative non-REM sleep which is most likely to occur prior to midnight.

Commenting on the findings, Forza Supplements managing director, Lee Smith, explained: “What we set out to do was to find out the absolute optimum times to work, rest and play.”

"While no two people are the same, these were found to be the very best times for the average person to do the key activities which make for a healthy and happy life.”

You heard the man.

Okay, so we have good news and we have bad news.

The bad news is, Disney is fleeing the comfortable confines of Netflix by severing its deal with the streaming service.

From 2019, US Disney fans will find that their favourite new fairy tales will no longer be part of the service.

The good news is, Disney is taking the opportunity to branch out, and create a Disney streaming service of their very own.

As well as playing host to classic Disney films, the service will host TV shows and ESPN-branded sports.

There will be separate streaming channels for the various TV genres.

Old movies may remain on Netflix, but upcoming Disney movies will probably go straight to the Disney-owned streaming programme.

The service is expected to follow the available on-demand business model, with a monthly subscription service.

Disney previously launched its own service, called Disney Life, in the UK in 2015.

That is why our latest discovery has us feeling super giddy!

Ladies, there is a Lilo & Stitch inspired eyeshadow palette… and it's ON SALE (we're sweating!)

The palette is currently available online, thanks to the gorgeous folks at Hot Topic, and yes, they deliver Internationally.

The description on the site reads : "Enjoy the island life wherever you are with this eye shadow collection inspired by the warmth and joy of Hawaii and Disney's Lilo & Stitch.

Apply each colour alone or blend shades to create a signature look. Layer for a bolder look, or sweep lightly for a hint of colour."

It is literally a summer holiday in makeup form – and we are all over it!

The Ohana eyeshadow palette contains twelve gorgeous colours, including tropical shades of blue and green, and more neutral shades of taupe and brown.

Oh, and did we mention that this palette is super affordable? Because it happens to be on sale.

This handsome cosmetic kit is currently on offer for just $13.52 , which is roughly a tenner – no excuse really.

Falling out with a best friend if never pleasant, in fact, it's kind of awful – and it's even worse when you're the one in the wrong.

However, no matter how broken things seem in the immediate aftermath, there are steps you can take to put your friendship back on the right track.

After all, it was Saint Francis himself who famously said “a quarrel between friends, when made up, adds a new tie to friendship.”

1. Admit you were wrong

If something you said or did was to blame for your falling out, admit you're at fault and deal with the consequences.

Don't make excuses, apologise sincerely, and grovel like your life depends on it.

2. Don't get other people involved

Some people might suggest finding a mutual friend to mediate the situation, but in reality, this is a discussion that needs to happen one-on-one.

The more people involved, the messier it gets and the last thing you want to do is fall out with anyone else.

3. Be honest

Tell the the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Once everything is out in the open you can begin to move forward  – and who knows, maybe it'll all just be a funny story one day.

4. Let her be mad

If you're in the wrong, suck it up and don't retaliate.

Sure, she might call you some terrible names or bring up every nice thing she's ever done for you, but just remember that emotions are high and she (probably) doesn't mean what she's saying.

5. Sort it out ASAP

After letting the dust settle for a day or two, don't waste any time before sitting down to hash it all out.

Leave it too long and you'll run the risk of entering that awkward state of friend limbo when you're both too afraid to text each other (even though you both want to).

6. Laugh it off

If there is any funny side to the situation, take it and run.

And if not, try a private joke and wait for the reluctant smile to form before you both break out in a fit of giggles that'll leave you gasping for air.

Pretty soon you'll have forgotten what you were fighting about in the first place.

Unless you have been living under a social media-proof rock these days, you may have noticed that Gucci is having a major moment.

From that double G belt to bee-embellished everything, the designer label has never been more popular among celebs and bloggers alike.

Unfortunately, the high end look comes with a high end price tag, but thankfully the high street is stepping in with some Gucci-esque pieces for a fraction of the luxury price.

Penneys is flying the flag for savvy shoppers everywhere, and their latest offering is saving us big bucks when it comes to obtaining a designer look.

This bee embroidered bag is selling like hot cakes, thanks to its couture colour scheme and lavish look.

From the cute cross body shape to that golden bumble bee, we seriously need this in our lives.

And at only 10 quid a pop, you really cannot go wrong.

The bag is available in all Penneys stores, but you better act fast.

According to Penneys HQ, there are less than 1700 left across Irish stores.

A post shared by Katherine Atkinson (@ginger.pickle) on

Sharpen those elbows, we'll be nipping to Penneys after work for this bag alone.

In typical Penneys fashion, we'll probably be leaving with a whole new autumn wardrobe, a new bed set and a coffee mug, though.

See you there!

There is even more reason to head down to Stradbally this September if you are a fan of 90s tunes.

Electric Ireland, the official energy partner of Electric Picnic, has announced that it will be bringing 90s nostalgia to the masses in the form of our favourite cheesy pop tunes at the Throwback Stage.

S Club Party

If the thought of bopping to 5ive and S Club Party gets you going, then head to the Throwback Stage where both acts are headlining.

If icons Don Conroy and Dustin the Turkey bring back major memories, then prepare for a trip down memory lane.

Free tickets to the three-day festival could also be on the horizon with the help of the artist and the UNICEF ambassador(yes really).

The pair are to star on a Facebook Live game show called the ‘Electric Ireland Throwback Show’ which will air on August 23 at 8pm on the Electric Ireland Facebook page.

In response to a male politician's suggestion that a stalking victim had placed herself in danger by choosing to go out alone at night, women in India have created the #AintNoCinderella hashtag.

And Twitter users have wasted no time circulating it far and wide.

Refusing to contribute to the ever-present victim-blaming dialogue, countless young women have supported Varnika Kundu, who was reportedly chased and harassed by two men, by sharing photos of themselves on nights out alongside captions which denounce BJP state vice president Ramveer Bhatti’s recent remarks.

"Dear Regressive India," wrote one Twitter user. "We ain't damsels in distress. We are independent & we don't need you to curb our freedom. #AintNoCinderella here!"

Challenging the troubling narrative that suggest women are in some way to blame for a man's threatening attitude or violent behaviour, Twitter has been awash with images, anecdotes and slogans which contradict the illogical theory.

We love these women.

Remember the last time you were offered a discount on your meal based on the size of your bra?

Yeah, us neither, but that's probably because we don't have the misfortune of living in the vicinity of a restaurant named Trendy Shrimp.

The eatery, which is located in the Zhejiang province of China, has been on the receiving end of considerable backlash after they chose to objectify their female customers with a hugely insulting promotion.

According to the BBC, the restaurant advertised the sexist promotion with a cartoon illustration of women with varying bust sizes.

"The whole city is looking for BREASTS," read the advertisement alongside guidelines specifying the discount a woman can hope to 'enjoy' depending on her physical appearance.

While the backlash resulted in the removal of the posters, it seems the criticism barely touched the restaurant's general manager, Lan Shenggang, who insisted that those who participated in the promotion were proud to do so.

"Once the promotion started, customer numbers rose by about 20 per cent," Lan said. "Some of the girls we met were very proud – they had nothing to hide".

Well, as long as your sales rose by 20 per cent, right Lan?
