So, who said dogs and babies don’t mix?

Research has found that the unlikely combo may actually be beneficial for your baby’s health!

According to a recent study conducted by The University of Alberta, babies who are born into a house with furry friends are almost twice as likely to have two useful types of gut bacteria.

The study, which looked at 746 mother and babies over 3 years, compared the health of babies who had been exposed to pets (70 per cent were dogs!) either during pregnancy or at an early age and those who had not.

The surprising results found that babies who shared their home with a pet had an abundance of Ruminococcus and Oscillospira – two types of bacteria linked to the decreased risk of obesity and childhood allergic diseases.

It is thought that the gut-friendly microbes, which live in both humans and animals, may be passed on by stroking the fur or simply being in the same environment.

The findings are so significant that we may even see a supplement, or 'dog-in-a-pill', containing these microbes in the not-so-distant future.

Anna Kozyrskyj, researcher and paediatric epidemiologist explained: “It’s not far-fetched that the pharmaceutical industry will try to create a supplement of these microbiomes, much like was done with probiotics.”

So, there you have it, babies and dogs can live in harmony after all!

If you're one of the millions who still knows the lyrics to My Lovely Horse off by heart, you may need to sit down before reading on.

According to emerging reports, the people behind our beloved Fr Ted are not adverse to the notion of bringing Craggy Island, and the folk who populate it, to the big stage.

Speaking to the Sunday Business Post, the show's creator, Graham Linehan, acknowledged that the transition would have to facilitate a fairly whopper storyline.

"It would have to be about Ted becoming Pope, or some weird succession thing that means Ted’s next in line. It would have to be substantial and big," he argued.

"I think there is an argument you could make a Ted musical where you really go for the jugular and you get all the things people loved about it, all the innocence and all the sweetness, but introduce a harder edge."

Anyone else see Graham Norton reprising the role of Fr. Noel Furlong for this one?!

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are undeniably one of Hollywood’s cutest couples.

Although the pair are known for keeping a relatively low profile, Ashton has never been shy about letting everyone know just how loved up they are.

Over the weekend, Ashton, who has been known to work closely with local schools and communities, was presented with the Robert D. Ray Pilliar Character Award for demonstrating "good character as a role model" at a ceremony in his native Iowa.

Ashton began his 16- minute acceptance speech by joking that he was probably the only person to ever receive the award who was once "pulled over by a state trooper while tripping on mushrooms".

The actor then quickly turned his attention to his children and wife Mila, who was in the audience at the time. In an emotional tribute he praised Mila, saying: "I mean, I'm telling you, this morning, I woke up and she kicked my ass on character,"

He continued: "I thought I was awesome because I got up early and helped with the kids before she woke up and I let her sleep a little bit and then she's like, 'Well, now you're gonna act tired? I do it every day.' But it was a character moment, right? Because she's right!"

The actor also spoke fondly of his parents saying how he actually felt lucky after they got divorced because they ended up marrying ‘’amazing’’ people.

"As long as you have love and kindness and optimism and a pursuit of something greater in your heart, you're the lucky one"

"So this award is for you. It is for my family, it's for all four of my parents, it's for my wife, who kicks my ass on character every day."

Ashton and Mila first met on the set of hit comedy series That '70s Show back in 1998, but romance wasn’t on the cards for the couple until 2012.

The pair have been happily married since 2015 and have been our ultimate couple goals ever since!

Like father, like son, hey?

Well, Ronan Keating and his son Jack were very much alike this weekend while celebrating their birthdays together.

The singer turned the big 4-0, while Jack celebrated his 18th in style.

Ronan's wife, Storm, took to Instagram today to share some pictures from their yacht party (yep, they partied on a yacht) and it looked deadly.

The soon-to-be mother captioned the pictures: "Best night ever celebrating father and son milestone birthdays on the Silver Sturgeon yacht with family and friends.

"Just got a couple of sneak peek pictures, and can't wait to see the rest."

Meanwhile, the former Boyzone star took to social media to send a heartwarming post to his son.

He wrote: "Happy Birthday to the best son a father could dream of. Can't believe it's been 18 years since the day you came into my life.

"I am so proud of you and the young man that you are. You are the coolest cat I know. Love ya son."

"However if you dance in the lifts they will stop moving and you will be stuck in here until we can get an engineer to come and rescue you."

The picture of the notice was shared on Twitter last night by @LianneReddy and it has been retweeted more than a thousand times since.

Some celebs have such notions…

And the latest that needs to come back down to earth is James Arthur.

The former X Factor finalist recently came back on the music scene with a new album… yet, he thinks Justin Bieber and Zayn Malik (to name a few) have copied his style.

“I think Justin Bieber and Zayn have both been listening to me a lot and they basically wanna be me,” he told The Sun.

A post shared by James Arthur (@jamesarthurinsta23) on

“There’s a couple of tracks of Zayn’s where he ad libs. I asked Louis Tomlinson whether he’s been listening to me and he said ‘Yeah, he’s been lurking’,” he claims.

And he didn't stop there.

Oh, no. James suggested that other musicians are only where they are now because they come from a wealthy background.

“I’m not saying none of these guys are talented, but people think Ed Sheeran crawled off a couch and lived on the street or something but him, Ellie Goulding . . . they all come from Suffolk, Surrey, Richmond.

"I think Sam Smith’s dad got a huge loan or something to help his career. Those things can help artists get attention but I guess my song Say You Won’t Let Go proved it’s about the song."

Lad, come on…

Ah, science. How we love you.

We particularly love science today because it has just figured out that drinking wine is good for your brain.

According to new research in the field of neurogastronomy, our brains have to work super hard to process the taste of some delish vino.

Wine Glass Bottle

In fact, it would be a similar intensity to listening to music or solving a maths problem.

One of the lead researchers, Dr Shepherd, says that wine molecules are harder to break down than other alcohols and actually don't possess an inherent flavour.

So, when we drink wine, our brains have to become stimulated and forced to create the flavour we're tasting.

Glasses of Rose Wine

The research, which was carried out at Yale, also said it's worth noting that 'flavour creation' is only triggered when we take the time to sip on a glass of wine.

If we just knock it back (as you do), the taste won't resinate, and that's why sometimes good wine doesn't taste so great.

So, there you have it. Drink the wine.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Channing and Jenna Tatum, Kimye… we all have our favourite couples that we think are total #Goals.

But, if you've been in a long term relationship then you'll know it's not all sunshine and roses 24/7.

So, instead of giving a shout out to #CoupleGoals, we thought we'd search through Twitter for #CoupleProblems, and the outcome was pretty damn funny.

You're bound to relate to one or two (or all) of these tweets:

Ah, lads. If you just love making your way through a lovely pint of Guinness then we have a bit of bad news for you.

Apparently, Brexit could effect the pricing of our beloved stout as prices are set to rise due to the UK's departure from Europe.

But, how? We asked ourselves the same thing. It turns out that the booze makes quite a few trips around the country before it's actually sent on to bars and pubs.

According to The Guardian, cans of the good shtuff cross the Irish boarder twice before being shipped to their various destinations.

It's first made in St James's Gate brewery in Dublin, and then it's pumped into tankers and driven to east Belfast.

When it hits Belfast, it's then canned, and sent back to Dublin Port for distribution.

A spokesperson for Guinness and Diageo confirmed that a harder boarder cross could cause delays for more than an hour per Guinness truck, which would end up costing around €100 per vehicle.

Add that up and the travel implications due to Brexit could cost the company around €1.3m additional costs a year.

Crap.
