Yearly Archives: 2016

Whether you're in a new relationship or have been dating for years, it's natural to feel a little lost and uninspired sometimes.

Panic not though, as thanks to the wonderful world of stock imagery, there are thousands of visual cues out there to remind you what a truly great relationship should look like.

Here are a few activities you'll regularly see all *normal* couples partaking in, according to stock photos…

1. Using a vacuum cleaner to extract cash from each other's pockets
'Can I borrow a tenner?' *waves Hoover nozzle menacingly*

2. Lying on the couch, upside down, with empty cardboard boxes in their hands
Who needs Reformer Pilates?

3. Sitting in the middle of an open stretch of road for a kiss
Lost that spark? The risk of getting mown down by a passing car should liven things up.

4. Performing complex acrobatics on their wedding day
'I love you too honey, but it's really hard to breathe with you planking on top of me.'

5. Sheltering under their favourite umbrella while indoors
Nothing beats a good snuggle under the umbrella, as any healthy couple will tell you.

6. Having a relaxing lie-in while wearing surgical masks
Too cautious? Not cautious ENOUGH, we say.

7. Sitting on the couch back-to-back during an argument
It's the only way to have a blazing row, really.

8. Or alternatively, dressing as mimes and screaming at one another
Are they really screaming or just MIMING screams? Hard to know.

9. Going all out for Easter
Make sure he holds on tight to that basket of eggs, or Aunty Sheila will never have you over for dinner again.

10. Taking a blow-up bed to their favourite city centre lunch spot
'Look honey, I've found the perfect patch of stained concrete for us to get comfy on.'

11. Rejecting gym sessions in favour of at-home workouts
Just a chilled out evening on the couch.

A student from the UK has had a homeless Ian Beale inked onto her thigh.

The 21-year-old told The Tab that she has no regrets of getting the Eastenders character tattooed onto her, but she can't even remember why she got it.

Amber-May Ellis swears she is happy with the design, which shows Ian wearing a beanie hat, a scruffy beard and cuts on his face.

The Reading University student is a self-confessed Eastenders fan but this isn't her first inking – she also has the word "banter" tattooed on her arms in Wingdings font.

"Basically it was a drunken bet – but it was so irrelevant no one can remember what it actually was," Amber-May said.

"All we know was that I lost and I was getting the tattoo. It was a crazy night."

Everything in Kardashian land is very obscure at the moment and we're not really getting it… at all.

First of all there's the whole Kim K and Amber Rose selfie thing… and now Rob Kardashian has joined Snapchat.

On one hand, it seems he's finally coming out from the hermit life he's been living the past few years; but on the other hand, his first snap is very, VERY strange.

It's so strange that we can't even really explain it, so have a look for yourself:

And to make matters even more weird, Blac Chyna also shared a snap warning women to back off her man:

Can you make out what he's saying? Is it just mumbles? Is she being serious between all that laughing? We're not sure.

One thing IS for sure though, we can't wait for these events to air on Keeping Up With The Kardashians

The international meet-up of a controversial "pro-rape" online group will include an event this weekend in Co. Kildare.

Return Of Kings, a site which calls itself a "blog for heterosexual, masculine men" and states that "a woman’s value significantly depends on her fertility and beauty" is planning 165 meetings across 43 countries this weekend.

Ireland's meeting is scheduled to gather in front of the main entrance of Naas Courthouse at 8pm on Saturday, with the site adding that protests will be "likely."

The website also lists a bizarre question ("Do you know where I can find a pet shop"?) and answer which participants can use to find their "fellow tribesmen" at the event.

Return of Kings is led by a blogger named Daryush Valizadeh, who recently pledged for rape to "not be punishable by law" once it took place on private property.

His views led to a 50,000-signature petition aiming to prevent Return Of Kings gatherings taking place in Scotland.

Other meet-ups have been scheduled for various US states, Australia, China, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Austria, France, Germany and the UK among other places.

Today, George Shelley shared a video admitting that he's dated both men and women, and asked his fans to support him and not label him.

However, when George was on I'm A Celeb, he grew particularly close to Ferne McCann, with many speculating that they were an item.

As their time in the jungle ended, it became known that they are just really good friends and nothing more.

So, when George shared his emotional post, Ferne was the first to offer her support on social media.

Less than an hour later, the reality star posted a photo of the pair with the sweetest caption.

"Feeling very proud of my lil jungle fwend today 'happiness is letting go of what you think life is suppose to look like & celebrating it for everything that it is' I love you bubs," she wrote.

The jungle queen, Vicky Pattison also shared her love for George on Twitter.

Two of our absolute FAVE Irish presenters are coming back for a reboot of Robot Wars.

Dara O Briain and Angela Scanlon have been announced as the new presenters for the BBC2 show.

The bubbly pair will be filming in a new purpose-built arena in Glasgow which will see them get up close and personal with the teams and of course, the robots.

Speaking about the show, it was clear that Dara is excited to be a part of it.

“I am thrilled to be presenting Robot Wars,” Dara said.

“For too long, the schedules have cried out for a show in which dedicated amateurs, toiling day and night, handcraft sophisticated automatons built on the delicate interplay of hand-wired servo motors with custom-built circuit boards and fingertip motion control," he told VIP.

“Just to see them get smashed to pieces by a dustbin carrying a massive hammer. It’s war, and how I love it so."

Angela also seemed thrilled to be joining the reboot of the popular show.

“I’m so excited to be joining such a legendary show that, after all this time, still manages to make people squeal with joy,” she said.

“I cannot wait to see the robots in all their metallic glory playfully destroying each other!”

And we can't wait either.

Huddersfield Train Station recognises hard work and dedication in its employees, be they train drivers, cleaning staff or… cats.

Meet Felix, Huddersfield's new Senior Pest Controller. After starting out as the station's Official Mouse Catcher, Felix worked her way up through the ranks for five years, awaiting her time to shine.

Felix was just a few weeks old when a staff member donated her to the station to help control a rodent problem, and she's since made herself indispensable as the fluffiest, hungriest member of staff.

"Her daily duties include begging for food from passengers and colleagues," one employee told Love Meow.

"Patrolling the platforms, occasionally making an appearance in the concourse. And chasing off the odd rodent. She has been known to wander down to Domino's Pizza when bored."

Felix's new role comes with much responsibility… and a high-vis jacket, of course.

"She still thinks she’s in charge of the whole station like always," a human colleague says.

Follow Felix's antics over on Facebook, where she already has over 2,500 likes. All in a day's work!

George Shelly has come out in a very emotional Youtube video.

The singer decided to come out to his fans to clear up speculation that has been surrounding the media lately.

"I don't feel that I should hide anything. I've been reading a lot of speculation online as to whether i'm straight or gay or bi," he said.

The 22-year-old revealed that he has dated both women and men in the past, and said that he doesn't want to be judged for who he dates in the future.

"I've been on a personal journey and I want you to be part of that journey from now on. I want to start 2016 with a clean slate.

"I've had girlfriends that I've loved. But I've also had boyfriends. I want you to know that whether I decide to be with a girl next or be with a guy next it's because I love them. It shouldn't be a big deal."

After her infamous arrest last week, Blac Chyna has admitted to being drunk at the Austin International Airport, but according to TMZ, pills were found in the model's luggage which she is claiming weren't hers.

The police found two pills with designs on them in her sunglasses case and a field test revealed that it was MDMA.

Sources close to Blac say she has no idea how the pills ended up in her case and she didn't even pack her own bags for the trip to London.

She also claims that her usual assistants were not with her, and a "different person packed for her," which is leading to her framed theory, reports the website.

It was also claimed that Chyna is bewildered about the drugs because the type of pills that were found are uncommon. She says that nobody has used that type of ecstasy for years, and favours the powered form instead.

The model also alleges that she would have no idea how to get access to that type of drug and she plans on using the "it's not my drug" defence if she's charged with possession.

Ah, Chyna, what have you got yourself into.

There are just four days to go until the American football extravaganza that is the Super Bowl, but we're always more interested in the ads (and the half-time show) than the actual game.

Budweiser generally goes all out for its Super Bowl ads, but this year they've taken a different slant.

Rather than promote beer-drinking to viewers, they're instead warning people of the dangers of not drinking and driving. And in a genius move, they've employed Helen Mirren to get their message across.

"Hello, I'm Helen Mirren, a notoriously frank and uncensored British lady," she begins.

"If you drive drunk you – simply put – are a short-sighted, utterly useless, oxygen-wasting human form of pollution."

Tell us how you really feel, Helen.

The ad is part of Budweiser's #GiveADamn campaign, which is urging drinkers to never drive while under the influence.

It's been nearly 50 years since the original ad of the Milk Tray man aired in 1968, and now Cadbury's has found a new handsome guy to take on the roll.

After the chocolate company launched the search last year to find a new hunky fellow, a fireman from Liverpool has won the role.

Patrick McBride fought off more than 20,000 hopefuls by impressing the judges with witty banter and performing a fireman's rescue lift.

The 39-year-old was so determined to clinch the title that he wore his full firefighing uniform to the London auditions.

Patrick also has a history of modelling and TV ad work, as well as a 14-year career in the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service – so it's safe to say he ticked all the boxes.

"My wife's so happy for me. She's made up. I think it will sink in when the billboards are up and the ads are on TV. I think she'll be pleased she's married to the Milk Tray man," said Patrick.

But, even though his wife will be happy, he's not too sure about his fellow firefighting buddies.

"I'd expect some playful banter… maybe the odd poster up. Maybe they'll come to work wearing black polo necks."
