Following the death of his Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher yesterday, Hollywood heavy-hitter Harrison Ford has released a statement paying tribute to the much-loved and highly-regarded actress.

In words which are bound to strike a chord with countless fans of the film franchise, Harrison acknowledged Carrie's joie de vivre, and sent his condolences to her family.

"Carrie was one-of-a-kind, brilliant, original," he told People magazine.

"Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life, bravely," he continued. "My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her.”

Speaking to E! News, Star Wars creator, George Lucas, also paid tribute to the actress who played Princess Leia in the iconic films.

"Carrie and I have been friends most of our adult lives. She was extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colourful personality that everyone loved."

"In Star Wars she was our great and powerful princess – feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think." George added.

60-year-old Carrie died after suffering a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

If anyone knows how to get people talking about their love life, it's Drake.

From public declarations of devotion (oh hey, Rihanna) to social media postings, the rapper can send his fandom into a tailspin with little to no effort.

Case in point: Drake's most recent Instagram upload.

Appearing to confirm rumours that he is currently dating 47-year-old Jennifer Lopez, the singer shared a snap of the pair looking pretty cosy.

And not everyone is impressed.

Despite racking up more than a half a million likes in just two hours, Drake has been inundated with sarky remarks from his fans and followers.

"You'll never find a girl like Rihanna," wrote one while another added: "Weirdest couple ever."

"They both hoes! Drake and JLo have literally been with mad ppl. Drake is a nasty dirty hoe and so is JLo," remarked another.

Oh, and if anyone is interested, Rihanna unfollowed JLo on social media in recent days…

It's all kicking off now, ladies.

Carrie Fisher, best know for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars, has died at the age of 60.

Just days ago, she suffered a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

A family statement issued this evening on behalf of Ms Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, confirmed that the star had died this morning, Tuesday.

"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8.55 this morning.

"She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."

As well as starring in other hits such as The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally, Fisher also wrote four novels.

She was just 19 when she shot to fame via Star Wars. As the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds, Carrie spent a lifetime in the spotlight.

When she was just two, her father left her mother for Elizabeth Taylor – also her mother's close friend.

In an autobiography published earlier this year, Carrie claimed for the first time that she had a three-month long affair with a married Harrison Ford during the filming of Star Wars.

On December 23 Ms Fisher suffered a cardiac arrest on a flight from London to LA.

It was later reported that she had stopped breathing and that a fellow passenger had to perform CPR on her.

She has spent the last few days in intensive care at the UCLA Medical Center.

Marnie Simpson was partying yesterday – and footage captured in the early hours of the morning has some fans seriously concerned.

The Geordie Shore star was out in Shropshire's Inferno nightclub and at one stage piled into a toilet cubicle with a gaggle of three mates.

A fellow reveller spotted the reality TV personality and filmed over the top of the door while Ms Simpson was locked inside.

The resulting footage seems to show the 24-year-old Celebrity Big Brother contestant holding a phone with a line of white powder on the back of it. As she realises she's being filmed, she quickly hides the item and screams "Oh my god!"

The video was originally posted to Facebook along with a caption that claimed: "We saw Marnie off Geordie Shore sniffing the beak," but has since been removed by the original owner. The Mirror is carrying the footage here

Marnie's people are refusing to comment on the matter, but the star herself did take to Twitter to acknowledge that she was suffering after a night of partying.

Inferno was at the time packed to capacity with Miss Simpson making a personal appearance alongside boyfriend Lewis Bloor, Towie's Chris and Jon Clark, and Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson.

The popular event had been promoted as a "Boxing Day Reality TV Special".

It's been an interesting year – from Brexit to Trump and numerous terrorist atrocities, globally we face increasing uncertainty.

But it hasn't all been bad news. In fact, we've crowned eight celebrities our 'heroines of the year' for being shining lights in a lot of darkness…

Michelle Obama, 52:

From speeches that captivated the world to her head-turning fashion, the First Lady will be sorely missed from the White House. No wonder there's already a campaign underway to have her run for US president in 2020.

The Duchess Of Cambridge, 34:

Sure she's privileged, but being married to a royal means a life in the harshest of spotlights. Arguably the world's most photographed – and thus, critiqued – woman, we applaud Kate for just getting on with it. She has evidently embraced being a mum too: far from being royal brats, George and Charlotte are impeccably behaved in public.

Annalise Murphy, 26:

The Rathfarnham sailor nabbed a silver medal for Ireland at the Olympics – but in the two years prior to that incredible achievement she struggled to perform at her best. She finished a frustrating fourth in London 2012 and in the aftermath her confidence took a knock. For getting back in the saddle and not giving up, we salute you, Annalise.

Iskra Lawrence, 26:

A plus-sized model with A LOT to say on the fashion industry, Iskra is also an ambassador for the National Eating Disorders Association in the UK. And a time when a lot of social media stars feel compelled to edit their posts, we (and her 3m followers) love that Ms Lawrence refuses to do so.

Hillary Clinton, 69:

Agree or disagree with her policies – there's no doubt that she's broken down a lot of boundaries for women in politics, still very much an industry where women struggle to be heard. That and her concession speech was nothing short of inspirational.

Alicia Keys, 35:

We love her for her no-nonsense attitude; during the summer she announced in a letter that she had reconsidered her approach to cosmetics. Since then, she's turned up at a load of high-profile events and appearances entirely fresh-faced and makeup free.

Saoirse Ronan, 22:

Being nominated for an Oscar aged 13 would set a lot of actors up for tabloid-infused, wild-child future. Not so Saoirse – who earlier this year nabbed her second Oscar nomination for Brooklyn. Still just 22, she continues to change the way Hollywood considers young female actors.

Winnie Harlow, 22:

Winnie hasn't allowed her vitiligo to dampen her dreams. Indeed, the Canadian model is now one of the industry's most recognisable faces. She's also a valuable contributor to discussion on the self-esteems issues young people today face.

The partner of George Michael has now, for the first time, described the moment he found the singer's dead body.

Fadi Fawaz took to Twitter to express his shock at the events of the last 48 hours, and to say that he will "never stop missing" the former Wham! star.

Fadi claims that he found George in his bed at home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, on Christmas Day afternoon.

The award-winning singer's manager said he died of heart failure.

Mr Fawaz, who is based in London and is a hair stylist, tweeted: 'Its an xmas I will never forget, finding your partner dead peacefully in bed first thing in the morning…I will never stop missing you xx'

DailyMail.com says that the pair had been in a relationship since 2012.

The 53-year-old musician famously broke up with long term partner Kenny Goss a year before.

Today, rumour surround the circumstance of George's death continue, however, his manager was at pains to stress that there was "no foul play whatsoever," adding that his death by heart failure was unexpected.

Police are treating the death as 'unexplained but not suspicious'.

Tiredness: the problem that we ALL battle all too regularly.

Whether brought on by the likes of cramming for exams, partying, work, or Netflix binges – folk these days are constantly exhausted.

But beyond the basics of coffee (and LOTS of it) there are various tips and tricks that will help you power on through.

1. Stay hydrated:

Especially if you're downing cups of caffeine, you need to make sure that you're hydrated too – so ensure you're having plenty of water to aid better focus and concentration.

2. Get active:

Getting your heart pumping: a brisk walk, a dance around the sitting room to your favourite tunes, or skipping in the garden – working up a sweat will do wonders to keep you awake.

3. Don't overheat:

Keep the central heating on low (or better still, turn it off altogether) – being too warm will only make you more sleepy.

4. Stay away from sugar:

It's tempting to hit a chocolate vending machine if you're working shifts or travelling early/late. But while sugar might give you a temporary hit, studies show it will only make matters worse longer-term. So choose your snacks wisely, opting for slow-burning carbs or protein-fuelled nibbles to keep you going.

5. Chew gem:

Bizarre – but apparently true: a study published in Nutritional Neuroscience shows that chewing gum can increase alertness.

6. Sing a song:

The Journal Of Music Therapy says that singing a song will help perk you up – so pop on your earphones and blast out a tune!

Well, if anyone was going to send Christmas cards depicting their very own naked body – it was probably going to be Emily Ratajkowski

Yup, the 25-year-old US model has now showed off a sneak peak of the card itself on her Instagram account.

And – unsurprisingly – her bod looks pretty amazing in a we'd-rather-not-see-that-when-we're-in-a-turkey-coma kinda way.

Emily told The Sun that she only had five of them made explaining: "The cards are far more than just a holiday greeting – they’re a gift in and of themselves."

We couldn't agree more, Miss Ratajkowski!

She added: “With everything going on in the world this year, my material gifts seemed to stop short at feeling special and full of love, so I decided to do the collages.”

Emily is currently spending Christmas in Venice.

Look, we absolutely recognise that celebrity-types have rather different Christmas Days than the rest of us.

From ridiculous gifts to increasingly outrageous selfies (we're looking at you, Mariah) – we're hazarding a guess they probably don't end up lounging around in their jim-jams scoffing the end of a Roses tin while shouting at the television.

Still, even we were taken aback at just how completely OTT Kylie Jenner's Yuletide celebrations were.

From ponies, and puppies, to cars and furs – if you're a teenage multi-millionaire, a social media queen, and a cosmetics entrepreneur your festive season is as bling as they come.

Here's a round-up of what Kylie gave and received:

1. She gave a pony to her boyfriend Tyga's four year old son, King:

2. She gave an all-white puppy to her model sister, Kendall, 21:

3. She received this large picture of herself:

4. She gifted a red Mercedes to her grandmother, MJ:

5. She gave her sister's boyfriend, Scott, a watch from Patek Phillipe [it cost around $35K]:

6. She got personalised Gucci luggage – emblazoned with her initials [Kylie Kristen Jenner]:

 7. There were classic Ford Thunderbirds for her grandmother, MJ, and mother, Kris:

8. She received a Hermes Birkin crocodile bag [value – tens of thousands of dollars]:

9. She received a huge pile of red fox fur:

10. She received these pressies from Tyga – but we don't know what's inside:

If you feel like you have turkey coming out of your eyeballs today (yup, us too) you mightn't feel like sitting down to another roast dinner with all the trimmings feed-fest.

Still, if there's a load of good meat left over from yesterday, you don't want to be chucking it out either.

So here are five delicious recipes that prove you CAN make scrumptious meals from roast turkey.

1. Turkey Club: Loaded with pecans, mustard, and cheese, this is just the thing to hit the spot on Stephen's Day. Alternatively – try an avocado, turkey and bacon bagel.

2. Loaded with veg – Jamie Oliver's turkey con chilli definitely doesn't feel like leftovers. Complete with home-made guac, this will be devoured!

3. Roast potato, stuffing, sausage, and turkey pie: if there are any sore heads or delicate souls that need a great dish to pick them up today – this is it. A great recipe to use up stuffing, potato, and gravy too.

4. If you don't have a load of turkey meat left, but still don't want to see what you do have wasted, turkey noodle soup is ideal for using up the remaining slivers. Warming and nourishing too.

5. Turkey curry on Stephen's Day has a bad rep – but this Thai twist on the old cliche is fabulous.
