What do you get an 81-year-old for her birthday? A nice cardigan? Perhaps a scented candle? No, you get her a tattoo, OBVIOUSLY. 

Dame Judi Dench took her birthday celebrations to the next level, through a particularly daring gift from her daughter, Finty.

The James Bond actress, who turned 81 in December, recently revealed a tattoo of the words 'Carpe Diem' on her right wrist.

Judi told the Mail Online ‘That’s my motto: “Seize the day”. Finty gave it to me for my 81st birthday – she’s wonderful with surprises.' 

Dame Judi spoke to Good Housekeeping in 2015, and expressed her interest in getting permanently inked saying: ‘I am tempted to have a tattoo to mark my birthday. Finty’s very keen on me having one.' 

The Oscar-winner went on to tell the Mail Online that her tat is not all she has planned in her bid to stay young.

‘I have macular degeneration, which means treatment every six weeks, but you just have to settle for it. It's ridiculous, it's a farce, but I am not going to give in.' Good woman!  

Judi Dench is currently in the middle of filming for her new role in upcoming feature film Victoria and Abdul. 

Keep doing your thing Judi, you're bloody fantastic!

The range has already landed in select Lidl stores, but it's being rolled out nationwide shortly.

We've all suffered our fair amount of make-up fails through the years, but one we all totally dread is going out with lipstick on our teeth.

Unfortunately, that happened to Jodie Marsh when she appeared on This Morning earlier today, and fans of the former model were quick to point it out.

She was on the programme to talk about how embarrassed she is about her past dating life, and how she plans to have a baby via sperm donor in the near future.

While we adored the relationship between Jesse Pinkman and Walter White in Breaking Bad, the dynamic that existed between Walter and Saul Goodman had us totally gripped.

Offering some very welcome comic relief in a show which generally had us gnawing on our nails, Bob Odenkirk's character was destined to have his own spin-off show, and when Better Call Saul hit Netflix, Breaking Bad die-hards were all over it.

And it looks like the show, which has enjoyed two seasons so far, has one pretty famous fan in the form of Bob's former co-star, Bryan Cranston.

Commenting on the possibility he might make a cameo in the show which documents Saul's life and career before crossing path with Walter White, Bryan was all OVER it.

"If they were to call me and say, 'We have this idea, we'd like…' I would say, 'Yes, you don't have to finish the pitch, I'm there. What do you want me to do?"

Acknowledging that his cameo must fit in with the producers' broader vision, Bryan continued: "I'll do whatever they want."

"I know how careful they are and proprietary they are with those characters and storylines, and it wouldn't be something like, 'Oh, isn't that kind of a stunt casting kind of thing?' It would be something kind of unique and obscure and creative, and I'm all in," he said.

The show was renewed for a third season earlier this year, and we can't WAIT for the moment a certain Mr. White pops up!

In a number of instagram videos, women can be seen letting go of they're super long hair, through the use of an electric razor. NIGHTMARE. 

The salon's 10,000 followers on instagram have reacted with both shock (so fair) and awe, one comment even describing the process as 'oddly satisfying' to watch. 

According to a number of the salon's followers, after getting their perfectly symmetrical hair-cut, they opt to donate their left over locks to charity.

Typically hair can be donated charities in order to make wigs for people undergoing chemotherapy.

This is for a good cause, but absolutely terrifying

Actress Ruby Rose is well-known for her edgy look and Bieber-esque haircut but – just like the rest of us – pre-2009 the actress looked a whole lot different.

A recent throwback snap revealed that the Orange Is The New Black star used to have long sleek hair with a full fringe and, although it is quite the transformation, Ruby was still well able to pull off the look.

Seven years ago the Australian model made the brave decision to shave it all off and it seems – apart from a brief experiment with fair extensions in 2012 – she hasn’t looked back since.

Ladies, we're gonna just say it – we deserve medals for soldiering through this week's weather.

Between sheltering from sheets of rain to swelthering beneath your sensible mac in the space of 15 minutes, this unpredictable weather is really – and we mean really – trying our patience.

And unfortunately for us, it doesn't look set to plateau any time soon, with Met Eireann advising us to brace ourselves for more of the same over the coming weekend.

According to the good folk who help us choose our outfits most mornings, Friday looks set to be cool with windy showers – sideways rain, anyone?! – while the north of the country can expect heavy thundery showers.

Saturday looks set to be a total sh*tshow apparently, with forecasters predicting a heady mix of sun, showers and wind with a max temperature of 18 degrees.

And Sunday? You guessed it. We can expect high temperatures mixed with scattered showers.

Oh, the bloody joys.

While discussion surrounding the gender pay gap continues to rage in Hollywood, it's easy to become disillusioned by the whole damn thing.

With that in mind, it's refreshing to see that despite the inequality so regularly highlighted in the movie industry, female stars are still kicking ass at the box office, and being recognised for it too.

Step forward Scarlett Johansson who has just been named as the highest-grossing actress OF ALL TIME.

In a report compiled by Box Office Mojo, it has been established that 31-year-old Scarlett has raked in a staggering $3.3 BILLION since making her first foray onto the silver screen in the 90s.

According to Vogue, Scarlett, who starred in Lost in Translation, The Jungle Book and The Girl with the Pearl Earring to name but three,  is the only female star – not to mention the youngest – to feature in the report's top ten.

Scarlett previously commented on the gender pay gap which was again brought to the fore again recently when word got out that Jennifer Lawrence was being paid less than her male co-stars.

"I am very fortunate, I make a really good living, and I'm proud to be an actress who's making as much as many of my male peers at this stage."

Scarlett, you're killing it.

Jack Rowe might be an 18-year-old Twitter hit now, but back in 2007 he was SpongeBob SquarePants’ most committed fan.

The Mayo lad recently found a SpongeBob diary written by his nine-year-old self and, naturally, took to Twitter to share the news of his hilarious discovery.

The diary contains epic quotes like “Dear SpongeBob, I wish I was yellow like you and have holes in my body just like you” and “I would like to see [Squidward] nice to you and Pat but I think that will never ever happen.”  Bless!

And as it turns out Jack wasn’t alone in his obsession with the porous cartoon character as he was actually part of an epic three-person SpongeBob-loving crew.

He told Buzzfeed his friend Fiona had a Sandy Cheeks diary which she used to update in the bathroom so her family wouldn’t see.

Madison de la Garza, who is Demi's half sister through her mother, is an actress and vlogger who stole our hearts as Juanita Solis on Desperate Housewives.

14-year-old Madison has faced a lot of ridicule and bullying in the past due to her weight, and has even received death threats, but luckily, she has a super-famous sister, who has endured her own fair share of cyber bullying, to stick up for her.

In an interview with Seventeen, Madison spoke of her sister's reaction to the cruel comments online, saying: "Demi freaked and direct-messaged people to yell at them, and she tweeted at her followers to stand up for me."

"I think when people say they wish Demi Lovato was their sister, they don't realise how hard it is to be related to someone who's constantly away on tour. But she's good at making time for me" the teen told Seventeen back in 2015. 

Madison, who has over 460,000 followers on Instagram, recently starred in Caged No More, a movie by Lisa Arnold. 

And it definitely looks like this girl's star is on the rise, and we're pumped about it!

While we're all for the standard munch that normally accompanies our trips to the cinema, sometimes it's nice to channel the sophisticated grown-ups we know we are deep-down.

And it looks like the good folk at Dublin's Light House Cinema are with us on this one and have pulled out all the stops for their screening of Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie this weekend.

On Sunday July 3rd, Patsy and Edina fans are invited to get their boozy brunch on in the much-loved Smithfield cinema while checking back in with everyone's favourite BFFs.

The idea of ditching our standard popcorn for smoked salmon, cream cheese, and hummus, while opting for a Bellini over a Diet Coke is appealing to us so much right now, so grab the ladies and 'sweetie darling' all over yourself this weekend.

With a two brunch bundles coming in at a very reasonable €20 to choose from, our Sunday is definitely set!
