Today, Steven Avery remains behind bars at the maximum security Waupun Correctional Institution in Wisconsin.

He is currently serving a life-sentence for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach, who was killed in October 2007.

However, now his nephew Brendan Dassey has had his conviction for his role in Ms Halbach's death overturned – and inevitably people are asking what this means for Steven himself.

Kathleen Zellner began representing the Netflix star in January when a fresh appeal was filed at the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and she is working on his appeal case.

Avery's legal team said in a statement following the news that a judge had overturned Mr Dassey's conviction:“We are thrilled for Brendan Dassey that his conviction has been overturned.

"We fully expected this outcome from an unbiased court that carefully examined his confession.”

Ms Zellner continued: "I was just visiting Steven Avery and he is so happy for Brendan. We know when an unbiased court reviews all of the new evidence we have, Steven will have his conviction overturned as well.”

In June, Avery's appeal case was delayed by 90 days after Ms Zellner requested an extension. That extension runs to the end of this month.

Steven was previously jailed for 18 years for the 1985 rape of Penny Beernsten but was exonerated after DNA evidence proved it was not him.

It was later revealed the real rapist was Gregory Allen and that there was evidence the Manitowoc County Sheriff department were aware he could be the perpetrator during the initial investigation.

Two years after being released from prison in 2003 he was arrested for the murder of Ms Halbach, whose remains were found in a burn-pit outside his home.

The makers of Making A Murderer reacted to Brendan's planned release with a statement: "Today was a major development for the subjects in our story and this recent news shows the criminal justice system at work.

"As we have done for the past ten years, we will continue to document the story as it unfolds, and follow it wherever it may lead."

Previously labelled as sinister folk not to be trusted, left-handed people these days are somewhat more celebrated.

That and, despite living in a world that is very much designed for their right-handed counterparts – they have some pretty high-profile compatriots.

Yup, from Barack Obama, to Prince William and Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates – if you're more inclined to use your left hand then you're certainly in good company.

Here, SHEmazing brings you the FIVE really great reasons why it's actually the best:

1) You earn more money (if you're a man):

According to studies, left-handed males who have gone to university earn 13 percent more than their right-handed counterparts.

Although oddly the results are quite different for women: they earn 5 percent less than women who are right-handed.

2) Half of all cats are left-handed:

Anything from 10 – 30 percent of humans are left-handed (depending on where you are in the world and what research you look at) – but not so for felines.

Yes, 50 percent of cats are left-pawed, according to studies.

3) You're a natural leader:

Five of the last seven US presidents – Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George HW Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford – are or were left-handed.

They're well-represented in royal circles too, examples include Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Prince William.

4) You have to overcome adversity:

From birth, you're being trained to think outside the standard right-handed box – something which helps you develop all sorts of skills that in turn encourages you navigate better the challenges of life.

Indeed, a combination of environmental forces and neurobiology combine to make lefties predisposed to be trailblazers.

5) You see better underwater:

Bizarre but true: when you’re underwater left-handed folk see better. It's not quite clear why this is so, scientists think it has something to do with a different part of the brain being dominant in left-handed individuals.

Video footage of a out-of-control Johnny Depp has now emerged – with the actor seen throwing a wine bottle and a glass months before Amber Heard filed for divorce.

In shocking footage – filmed prior to the May 21 incident in which Amber claims Mr Depp struck her – the duo can be seen in their kitchen.

Obtained by TMZ and seemingly filmed by Amber herself, she can be heard asking Johnny if he drank a bottle of wine as she tries to calm him down.

The footage begins with 53-year-old Johnny shouting "mother f**ker; mother f**ker," as his now-estranger wife asks him what happened.

The 30-year-old actress furthermore says she is sorry for something – although she doesn't specify what she did.

And after throwing a glass and wine bottle across the room, he seemingly becomes aware that she is filming their tense conversation – making a swipe at Amber's phone, trying to get it from her.

Johnny's people are now claiming that the content is a "set up," and is "heavily edited." The also claim that there are portions where Amber is seen smiling and egging him on.

The pair – who met on the set of 2011 film The Rum Diary and were married for just 15 months – split in May.

His controversial conviction sparked countess debate when Making A Murderer was released late last year.

But now – in breaking news from the US – it has been confirmed that Brendan Dassey will be released from jail within a matter of weeks.

A federal judge sitting in a Milwaukee court has just now overturned Mr Dassey's conviction.

According to court documents, Brendan should be "released from custody unless, within 90 days of the date of this decision, the State initiates proceedings to retry him."

Netflix's Making A Murderer documented Brendan and his uncle Steven Avery's trials following the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach in October 2005.

Brendan's trial lasted nine days and on April 25, 2007—after the jury had been deliberating for four hours—he was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, second-degree sexual assault and mutilation of a corpse.

At the time Brendan was still just 17, but was both tried and sentenced as an adult.

He is currently imprisoned at Columbia Correctional Institution.

We were all shocked and saddened when Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney ended their engagement.

They're a bad-ass couple, and we were really rooting for them.

However, if this is anything to go by, there might still be a chance.

An insider close to Taylor told Us Weekly: "There is absolutely still a chance they can get back together."

The website also claims that even though Gaga has moved her things out Taylor's Chicago home, she kept her sparkling engagement ring.

The insider added that the break-up is also taking effect on both families.

"Both of their families are upset. And his co-stars tell him that they miss her. Everyone is hoping they get back together."

We are too!

If you – like us – have been accused of spending far too much time in the shower, then you're going to want to hear ALL about this incredible new showerhead which actually measures how much water you've used.

According to Look, Hydrao's smart showerhead attaches to your shower and an LED light changes colour the more water you use.

The showerhead will be green when you begin your shower, but once you hit the ten-litre mark, the showerhead will turn a shade of blue.

So far, so helpful, right?

When you hit the 30-litre mark, you'll be bathed in an orange light and when you hit the 50-litre mark, the showerhead will flash red reminding you that other people in the house have a right to hot water too, you know.

And not only will this innovative creation reduce the number of rows that take place in homes up and down the country, it also gives you the opportunity to keep an eye on the effect you're having on the environment.

Connecting the Hydrao to your phone will allow you to track you water usage and set goals for water conservation.

We know ladies, it's the future.

When a celebration rolls around, there's nothing better than a bottle of champagne to toast your good fortune with.

However, come the end of the year, there might not be any champers to drink.

According to Decanter, with a mix of bad weather, mildew and rot, French bubbly is going to have a shortage this year.

Frost that came late in the year has caused some wine and bubbly makers to lose around 70 percent of their crop. Not good.

There were also hail storms later than expected, and to make everything worse, that was followed by a mildew epidemic in July.

This means that the Champagne region, which usually has around 10,700kg per 100 acres, now only has 3,000kg per 100 acres.

I think it's time to stock up, lads.

The Kardashian / Jenner family have been incredibly accepting of their ex-husband, step-father and father as he transitioned from Bruce to Caitlyn, but there's no denying that the announcement had a profound impact on all members of the Calabasas clan.

And while millions of people are under the impression that the former Olympian's news came as a total shock to her family, many of her children and step-children were aware that she was hiding a secret.

Opening up during an extremely candid interview with Vogue, Kendall reflected on the numerous occasions she questioned her father's secretive behaviour.

"My whole life we would, like, catch her, and we would be like, What is going on here?" she recalls. "I think we know, but do we?" she asked.

"At one point Kylie and I thought he was cheating on my mom, because he had makeup and nail polish," Kendall remembered.

"One time we found those squishy boob things. We found wigs. And then one time I actually ran into her. In this house. She had no idea."

Recalling an incident when she saw Caitlyn making her way around the home in the early hours of the morning, Kendall said: "One morning I woke up at 4:00 a.m. so thirsty, came downstairs into the kitchen, and grabbed a bottle of water."

"And as I was coming back out, my dad was coming down the stairs in, like, a wig and makeup and shoes – the full nine. And she didn’t see me. I literally froze," Kendall admitted.

"Please don’t turn left." Kendall remembered thinking. "Because she could either turn left or turn right. Thank God she turned right and – to this day! – has no idea that happened. "

"That was the first time I had ever seen her," Kendall admitted.

We wonder what Caitlyn will make of that revelation.

We all know there's no love lost between Zayn Malik and Azalea Banks.

But after tearing into the Pillowtalk singer earlier this year, the 212 rapper was faced with considerable criticism and even found herself dropped from festival line-ups as a result of her racist and homophobic slurs.

And, unfortunately, it doesn't look like the singer has learned her lesson if her recent remarks are anything to go by.

Commenting on Zayn's highly-anticipated spread for GQ, the 25-year-old New Yorker cast aspersions on Gigi's bae.

"He legit looks like he used to be a girl," she wrote of the 23-year-old's recent photoshoot. "He gives me transman teas."

The comments have come as a surprise to Instagram users who were quick to remind Azalea she had recently professed to having turned over a new leaf.

"The amount of people that get hurt when I use the word vs. the amount of people I’ve said it to are just not worth it,” she wrote at the time. “This isn’t a cop out, its just me realizing that words hurt."

By the looks of things, Azalea's back to her usual tricks.
