It’s Friday night and the last thing you want to do is sit in front of the telly watching The Late Late Show. Again.  But you’re broke. So what’s a girl to do?

Well you don’t need to be flashing the cash to have a good time with your friends – here are a few things you can do that will guarantee a good night:

Have a movie night
Get everyone to bring a bag of something and order a pizza. Instead of heading to the DVD store to rent a movie, just get one off Netflix. Even if you don’t have it we’re pretty sure at least one of your friends does…

Have a natter
Invite the girls over for tea or a glass of wine and a natter. You don’t need to go out and spend a fortune on an expensive bottles of wine either – Lidl have very reasonably priced ones. A few crisps and you’re sorted for a night of girly gossip.

Board game night
When was the last time you sat down and played a board game with your family, never mind your friends? It might sound a little cheesy but we guarantee you will have a laugh – just make sure you keep the competitive streak in check.

Bake off
Be a little creative and have a bake off. It doesn’t have to be anything really complicated – biscuit cake is always a winner.

Just don’t drink
If your friends are heading out and you’re really sick of missing out on the fun just be the designated driver. And the best part? You wake up without a hangover!

A rapper, known as Big Paybacc, was gunned down yesterday while eating at a Palmdale branch of fast food giant, McDonalds in California. The rapper, whose real name is Habeeb Ameer Zekajj, was known for his YouTube videos and 2011 hit 'Gangster Luv'.

The incident which took place at lunchtime yesterday is currently under investigation, but witnesses have said that no altercation took place prior to the murder. Speaking about the gunman, the LA County Sheriff's Department Lt John Corina has said: "He had something against the individual. It wasn't like he shot up the McDonald's. He just shot him and left."

Big Paybacc's girlfriend Jessica Jefferson expressed her outrage at the nature of the killing, saying: "For them to be that bold to run up to someone in a McDonald's in daylight, in front of people, kids you know, and to just take some kind of vengeance on somebody, it’s, it’s inhumane."

The 38-year-old father-of-three had plans to move in with his girlfriend and Jessica said of her deceased boyfriend: "Everybody loves him and he's a good rapper. He has so many followers and people who stand behind him. He really is a good, solid person."

What a truly shocking incident.

It looks like Nick Grimshaw of Radio One fame really knows how to create a romantic atmosphere for his guests if today's announcement is anything to go by!

Interviewing Andy Jordan and co-star Binky Felstead of hit reality TV show Made in Chelsea, Nick was witness to the first MIC marriage proposal!

Discussing the longevity of the show as well as the romantic up and downs experienced by most cast members, the 30-year-old host suggested that Andy and Binky should tie the knot, and neither were too thrown by the suggestion either!

Andy told the stunning brunette: "I would marry you. Of all the girls on the show I think I would marry Binky first. Oh my god, should I propose on Radio 1? Binky, I've been thinking about this for a while and I'd like to marry you. Will you be my wife?"

We're sure listeners were on the edge of their seats waiting to hear her response, so may have been a little disappointed by the 24-year-old's nonplussed reply of " Ah yeah, go on then."
It's still a yes though, right?

The 24-year-old went on to serenade his wife-to-be with a rendition of his recent song 'Flirty'.

Ok, so we know they were ony messing around, but we think there may be more to this than meets the eye as the pair looked very cosy before going live-on-air with Andy placing kisses on Binky's cheek while also indulging in one or two selfies together, and Andy HAS been saying he's on the look-out for love.

It looks like we have another X Factor romance on our hands.

While reports have claimed that Lauren Platt has her eye on One Direction star Niall Horan, word on the street is that love is in the air for her and fellow contestant Charlie George.

An insider has claimed that there is definitely more going on here than friendship, despite the fact that Lauren is already in a relationship.

The source told the Daily Star: “I wasn’t shocked. I think that everyone around could see that blossoming.”

Romance rumours emerged last week, with a separate source claiming that Lauren and Charlie had been seen sneaking into each other’s rooms at night.

While the pair slammed the rumours, stating that their relationship was nothing more than a “supportive friendship”, it seems like there could be more than meets the eye.

So Lauren Conrad has graciously shared just about every detail from her amazing wedding to William Tell – but there was one thing we were missing: the ring.

Well, we can at long last tick that off the list!

The former reality star took to Instagram last night to share a picture of her freshly-painted manicure from a photo shoot, but no one was looking at those nails!

Indeed, we were transfixed on that stunning rose-gold band, decorated with pretty pavé diamonds. Wow.

“Sheer nude nails and faux fur at yesterday’s shoot,” wrote the 28-year-old newlywed.

What a stunning ring, and it complements that gorgeous engagement rock so perfectly.

Lauren and William exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony in September, with fashion star Lauren going on to share photos of her Pinterest-perfect wedding day.

Amazing!

French reality star Nabilla Benattia has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing her boyfriend.

Nabilla, who rose to fame on Les Anges de la Téléréalité (The Reality Angels), is suspected of causing serious injuries to boyfriend Thomas Vergara in the early hours of Friday morning.

Authorities were alerted after the staff of a Paris hotel reported a “major argument with lots of screaming” from a room upstairs.

Vergara was then discovered with stab wounds to his chest and throat, and was rushed to the Georges Pompidou hospital, where he remains in a serious condition. Benattia was also treated for shock.

Police went on to arrest the 22-year-old reality star on suspicion of attacking her boyfriend.

According to reports, Benattia has denied the charge, claiming that Vergara was attacked by three men outside the hotel. The hotel staff, however, have no CCTV evidence to back up the claim.

Benattia is being held by police and will be formally questioned as part of an “attempted homicide” investigation later today.

Every visit to Amanda Bynes’ Twitter account leaves us sadder and sadder.

In the latest controversy surrounding the troubled star, she was photographed sleeping on a couch in a shopping mall amid her claims that she cannot afford a place to stay.

The 28-year-old took to Twitter to explain the situation, while simultaneously blasting her parents for holding conservatorship over her.

She tweeted: “I was not given money for a hotel so I have been staying with friends and I didn’t get enough sleep last night so I feel asleep on a couch…@ the Beverley Centre, and a paparazzi snuck in and took pictures of me FYI!”

The actress was back to bashing her parents as she continued: “I hate my parents for still not giving me money for a hotel…What is wrong with them?”

Amanda then vowed to fight with her legal team to regain control over her finances.

Meanwhile, reality star Heidi Montag has made a rather generous offer to Amanda, tweeting that she could stay in her place if she so wished.

“You are more than welcome to crash in our guest house in Santa Barbara if you need somewhere to stay! DM me!” wrote the former star of The Hills.

We wonder if Amanda will take her up on the offer?

I think we’ve all grasped the fact that various magazines, websites and newspapers are verging on heinous when it comes to their coverage of women.

In 2014, the media’s obsession with the female body is a familiar one; be it an in-depth description of Tara Reid’s “worryingly skinny” frame (The Mirror Online, 2/11/14), or Lady Gaga’s supposed concealment of recent weight gain (Mail Online, 14/3/2014).

Regardless of their weight, celebrities are lambasted both for ‘covering up’ and dressing in ‘scantily clad’ outfits. There is no way to win – or so it seems. Let’s remember, this is big business. A large cohort of publications, both online and print, use bodies (male and female) to sell papers or increase traffic. It’s undeniable that this kind of selective, sexist coverage is disheartening. However, there is power in choice.

I can recognise that Holly Hagan of Geordie Shore fame willingly told the Daily Mail that she "still had great sex when she was fat’. I can respect that she exploits the tabloids in that manner in order to make money (which is, arguably, empowering), but that doesn’t mean that I have to read all about it, or even discuss it with anyone.

There is another element of cruel media that serves to remind us that scrutiny is a two-way street: the comments. I understand and endorse the concept of free speech, but I am quite sure that any online publication that allows any person to be branded "rough as a badger’s rear" (Mail Online comment section) by an anonymous troll isn’t my read of choice. Comment moderation on certain news sites is still at a horrifyingly unsophisticated level, and for that reason, I just choose not to read them.

What’s even more depressing is the angle that some publishers choose to take on certain events. When covering Emma Watson’s #HeForShe speech at the UN a couple of months back, the Telegraph ran the story alongside a picture of her in a short dress, rather than the sharp suit she donned on the day. More recently, Lena Dunham slammed the Daily Mail for writing about her "slimmer face" and "unique look" upon the occasion of her UK book launch, rather than giving her book anything more than a passing mention. Personally, I’d rather read about the book or the speech itself, and thankfully, there are plenty of sites out there to give me that information.

Isn’t it up to the individual to choose what media she or he consumes? Why are we so accepting and eager to be spoon-fed stories that encourage us to pit ourselves against each other based on appearance and weight, rather than wit and intellect? Exercising discretion in what media we read, discuss and share, both on and offline, is something we should perhaps all consider. Think of it as a means of, ahem, ‘conscious uncoupling’ from the worst culprits.

It’s always good to think for oneself, and sometimes, I do worry that most of us have forgotten how.

Oh Miley, you can’t be serious!

The singer has come in for major criticism yet again, after painting her pet pig’s nails and sharing the evidence to Instagram.

We are not making this up!

The star took to the photo blogging site to post a picture of the animal’s trotters covered in red nail varnish, with the caption: “Pig pig gonna be lookin’ fresh”.

Indeed, Miley.

Another shot shows Miley holding pig Bubba Sue, while a member of her crew continues the strange pampering session.

It seems her social media followers were not impressed however, with one commenting: “I don’t know…I remember that you was good a few years ago. But now you’re just a b*tch”.

Others expressed their concern for Miley’s pet, writing: “Seriously? That’s terrible for the pig.”

Oh Miley, we’re scared to ask what you’ll get up to next!

Our beauty blogger of the week is the stunning Orla McConnon. Orla’s blog, TheOrlacle.com, is right up our street so we were thrilled to catch up with her for a quick chat! Orla’s funny, honest and relatable approach to all things beauty based makes her a stand-out in the world of Irish beauty blogs. We value Orla’s opinion, we appreciate her puns and we adore her down-to-earth attitude. Ladies, this girl is one to watch.

1. What is your best budget beauty buy?

My best beauty budget buy is the Essence Liquid Ink Waterproof liquid eyeliner in black. This is the truest black eyeliner I have ever used. It stays all day too which is great because when you're putting the effort in to do a cat eye, you want that stuff to stay put!

 2. What is your top make-up tip?

My top make-up tip is to always ask for a sample of a foundation when you can before you purchase. It's so annoying when you spend a lot of money on a foundation, to find out it really doesn't suit your skin at all. So don't be afraid to ask, it could save you a lot of money.

3. Most girls have a much-loved lipstick – what's yours?

I'm a lipstick fiend and I'd say two thirds of my collection are nudes, so this is really hard! But, I'd have to say MAC Viva Glam II is my favourite.

4. What was your very first perfume and what are you currently wearing?

My first perfume was SJP 'Lovely' and I still wear it today! I absolutely love it! And then I also alternate between Roberto Cavalli 'Serpentine' and Bulgari Omnia in 'Amethyste'.

5. You're only allowed to use three make-up products for the rest of your life… what are they?

This is a cruel question but if I had to pick I would say:

Essence Liquid Ink eyeliner in Black- I think liquid liner just opens up your eyes and makes you look awake. I would rarely go out without it. A few times I've forgotten to bring mascara and I've literally painted my lashes with this and it worked a treat!

MAC Studio Sculpt foundation- This started as my 'going out' foundation and sneakily fell into my everyday routine. I love how this is a gel formula. It's got a great medium to full coverage, with a slight dewy finish. I have quite dry and dehydrated skin, and this works perfectly for me.

MAC Bronzer in 'Refined Golden'- I think I've been using this since I was 14! If I don't wear bronzer, I feel so washed out and flat. Whether it's for a heavy contour at night or a quick flush of colour, I always have a bronzer in my makeup bag!
