treats

If you, your roommate or one of your friends are lactose intolerant, it means that many sweets and treats are off-limit.

Butter, milk or cream are common ingredients for most cakes, biscuits, ice-creams, but they are not irreplaceable. Margarine and neutral oils can be good substitutes for butter, while non-dairy milks and creams (such as coconut and almond) are now widely available.

The following recipes do not contain any milk or dairy, but if you use chocolate, make sure it is dairy-free or vegan.

1. Double chocolate nice-cream

2. Blueberry quinoa muffins

3. Strawberry and basil cheesecake

4. Vegan brownies

5. Breakfast cookies

6. Chocolate crinkles

7. Mango and lime chia pudding

8. Chocolate peanut butter power balls

Despite trying to behave in the safety of November, everyone knows over the next few days any hope we once had of avoiding indulgence will swiftly evaporate into Winter's sky.

So, what better way to acknowledge the festive season than to combine two of its most celebrated assets in one soul-soothing beverage?

Cue: Boozy Hot Chocolate!  To mark the Christmas season, a number of Dublin’s top bars have added a spruced-up version of everyone’s favourite sweet drink to their cocktail menus.

Zozimus on Anne’s Lane has merged “a generous amount of golden rum” with “warm luxurious chocolate milk”, vanilla ice cream and crushed biscuit to create their festive offering.

As you might have guessed, we are major chocolate lovers here at SHEmazing! so naturally we were incredibly excited to learn that Mars is set to release caramel flavoured M&Ms.

At first glance it may seem strange that the chocolate giant has never attempted to channel this much loved flavour into its famed red and yellow sweets before, but this is actually because creating the right caramel for the job has taken Mars years of planning.

According to Delish, engineers were tasked with finding a caramel which would fill M&Ms without causing the iconic treats to collapse.

This process was very time heavy, but at long last chocolatiers are confident that caramel flavoured M&Ms are good enough to join the brand’s permanent collection.

While it is not yet clear when they will arrive in Ireland, the new M&Ms will hit US stores in May 2017.

There's nothing better than having a sweet treat with your morning (or afternoon, or evening) cup of coffee.

And whether you like to sneak a snack in daily (oops!) or just fancy having one every now and again, it's an indulgence like no other.

Here at Shemazing! HQ, we love a little goodie, so we've come up with our top 5 favourite treats to have with our cuppa joe:

Chocolate biscuit slice:

If we're being very naughty, we love a good chocolate biscuit cake slice. The gooey delicious chocolate mixed with the crunch of the biscuit is just too good. Pair that with coffee and you're in heaven.

Jacob's Caffe Di Milano:

The latest to Jacob's, the Caffe Di Milano range is unreal. The Italian style wafer (which is so light you wouldn't belive) mixed with your choice of either chocolate, hazelnut or vanilla filling is perfect to go with your cup of coffee or tea. You'll make your way through a whole pack and won't even notice.

A doughnut:

For days when we're really bold, there's nothing better than making our way through a juicy doughnut. Especially lately when we're spoiled for choice in Dublin, a doughnut is the perfect cheat day treat. YUM.

Biscuits (ALL the biscuits):

If you haven't noticed already we're obsessed with biscuits. Whether it's a plain biscuit, a chocolate biscuit or basically just anything to do with a biscuit, we're there. We're SO there.

Cupcakes:

Cupcakes in all shapes and sizes are just the BOMB. Icing, no icing, filling, fruit, cream – there's so many combinations and something to suit everyone in the office. Each one is a little bit different and that's why we love them. Also… lots of sugar.

To some, cookies are treat-yourself food, a reward you give yourself every once in a while because your so damn healthy!

To others, they can be a go-to midnight feast (naughty), or something you eat with a cup of tea every day.

We believe that cookie dough may be just as tasty as the cookie itself, so when we came across Delish's Cookie Dough Dip, we couldn't help but share it with you.

Minus the flour and plus cream cheese, they have made cookie dough easy to make, way creamier and way dreamier.

The dip takes only a few minutes to whip up, and you most likely have some of the ingredients already: a block of cream cheese, butter, icing sugar, and milk chocolate chips.

Sounds good already, doesn't it?

Blend the ingredients together as much as you can; you can whisk by hand if you want an arm workout or opt for an electric mixer so save some time (and sweat).

Then all you have to do is pick a dipper! Delish have used some fab-looking pretzels, but the choice is up to you.

Cheese and Bacon Dip
Not as weird but still really delicious. All you need is some cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream and of course, bacon.

Bacon Cupcakes
An American treat. This bacon and maple syrup mix has become a huge hit with food lovers.

Bacon Cookies
Not only sweet but can also be seen as an arguable breakfast treat. All you need to make these bacon cookies is your regular oatmeal cookie recipe and again, bacon.
