When people compliment our clothes, the age-old reaction is to say, 'cheers, Penneys, €2'!

We've bought our outfits in the retail chain since we were wee babies, and it's still our one-stop-shop for, well… basically everything.

Now, us Irish are all well aware that Penneys is called Primark in the North of Ireland and in the UK, but apparently Cosmopolitan is only realising this now, and they're mind blown.

"What if we told you that everything you know about the shop where you can buy ALL of the things in the world is a lie, and that it's actually called a completely different thing?" reads the article.

They then come to the revelation that Penneys is actually Irish, and originated in Dublin in 1969.

"Back then, it opened with the name Penneys – and it stuck. The Irish totally stick by their initial name, and in fact there was a lot of confusion when they decided to rename the brand overseas.

"There is reason behind the madness, though. Penneys may make more sense for the affordable brand, but the company had to switch to Primark for legal reasons. When they expanded to the UK in 1974, they chose to change their name to avoid legal action by the US retailer J.C.Penney.

"The Irish have steadfastly stuck with Penneys, and despite the fact that the company now has stores all over the world called Primark, they are proud to be the purveyors of the original name."

Yep, we're proud indeed.

The live-action version of Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast, is mere days from its release, and we (like you) are understandably pumped.

But we're not content to merely wait for the film to hit the silver screen, oh no.

We want all the merch before we even buy our ticket, and it looks like we're not the only ones.

From Belle-inspired Juicy Couture collections to beauty serums, we want it all, and we want it now.

But with the JC range coming in at over €800, we'rd rather splash our cash on Primark's adorable Chip Cup, and so would Instagram by the looks of things…

A snazzy disco ball drinks cup – complete with straw. Oh and they cost just €3-a-pop too.

Yup, we are ALL OVER these beauts – which come in gorgeous pink and metallic hues – as spotted recently in Penneys by the always fab Prosecco And High Heels

Dubliners Nicola and Emma, who run the blog, posted a snap of the items to their Facebook page, commenting: "I swear how cute how are these. €3 in Penneys."

Then, highlighting a sentiment we're all sorts of on board with, they added: "Gin would taste amazing outta them… in fairness gin tastes amazing from anything!"

Here at SHEmazing! we're furthermore envisioning garden party soirees once the weather picks up.

And as always with any gems from Penneys – you better be quick to nab these glitter disco ball drinks cups!

There is nothing more exciting than a new season of style, and we are definitely ready to shed our faux furs in favour of some lighter, brighter, springtime threads.

There are plenty of trends we are dying to ditch in 2017, so we've never been more eager to get to grips with spring/summer styles.

Unfortunately, our January budgets are still stretched a tad tight, but Penneys has stepped up and is already dolling out doses of fresh, forward-thinking fashion.

Jacket €23, Trousers €16

The high street bargain store has just unveiled its Spring 2017 collection, and some of it is seriously stylish.

We love this oriental style pyjama suit, which we could see Alexa Chung rocking with a pair of block heeled, black boots and a clutch.

Dress €25

Been dreaming of a Self Portrait dress all year but couldn't quite scrape together the funds?

You're in luck, because this white, detailed lace dress could have stepped straight of the high-end run way.

The high Victorian neck keeps this piece firmly in with the high street trends while maintaining an understated designer edge.

Mules €25

Mules are still going strong in the new season.

This Penneys pair are paying homage to one of winter's most popular looks, embroidery.

While we wouldn't be long getting frost bite if we tried to go sans socks in these beauties now, snap them up when they hit stores so your can wear them all summer long.

Jacket €23, Trousers €16

80s style, brightly coloured power suits were showcased on every designer runway, taking inspiration form America's latest presidential election and it's resounding pantsuit obsession.

This pink Penneys style is a softer take on the trend, ideal for weddings and cocktail parties with a structured shirt and clutch or with a slouchy t-shirt and runners for a casual day time look.

Jacket €21

Ok, we know we're getting a teeny tiny bit ahead of ourselves, but how divine would this panelled denim jacket look slung over an edgy black dress and boots for festival season?

If you can't wait until that long to wear this panelled piece, pair it with some high waisted trousers and a shirt for a casual work-to-bar look.

Mesh dress €16

Layers of mesh and tulle are one of Spring's biggest catwalk trends, but translating the look into a real life wardrobe can be notoriously tricky.

Luckily, Penneys had created this sheer mesh shift that can be thrown over a shorter dress, t-shirt dress or even black jeans for a deconstructed nod to the tulle trend.

We can already see ourselves emerging from Penneys, multiple bags in hand. See you in the queue!

You may have spotted Olivia Palermo rocking a seriously sleek military jacket recently.

If you didn't – well, she looked ALL sorts of fab.

And suffice to say if chic Miss Olivia is wearing military outerwear – it's a sure thing fashion-wise.

The bad news is that the coat is by Tibi and costs more than €1,000. And €1,000 is sadly out of your January budget (or, ya know, ANY budget ever).

HOWEVER, there is light at the end of the trend tunnel: Penneys has this fab number AND it's landing in stores next month

The very best part? It costs just €23.

Hurrah!

Picking up a fabulous – and affordable – present for the small one in your life isn't always easy.

But we were pretty bowled over by the cuteness of these pinafores from Penneys.

A steal at just €14, they come in four colours perfect for autumn: denim, green, black, and burgundy.

We're sold!

Since the day they first hit virtual shelves, it’s been almost impossible to get hold of Kylie Jenner’s famous Lip Kits.

And with metallic shades dominating the 2016 beauty scene, failing to nab one of Kylie’s Kits has been a major struggle in the lives of beauty lovers everywhere.

Because of this, we were delighted to learn that Penneys has come up with a solution to Ireland’s shortage of metallic coloured liquid lipsticks by launching a line of shiny new products which are already shaping up to be a solid dupe for Kylie’s.

Penneys has gone global over the last year with stores opening up in the US, Spain and most recently France. With level upon level of immaculately arranged clothes and accessories, beauty salons, phone charging areas and entire walls of cosmetics, these are no ordinary Penneys stores either.

After every new megastore opening we've lusted over the pictures on Twitter and Snapchat, all the while wondering when our humble Irish stores would get the same uber-glam treatment.

Well, it seems we didn't have long to wait, as one Penneys branch in the heart of Dublin has just re-launched after a major image overhaul. The re-design was done in stages over the last six months to avoid having to close the store entirely, so if you've been battling with hoarding and closed-off escalators whilst shopping there recently, that's why.

So, does the O'Connell St branch compare with the amazingness that is Primark Madrid or Boston? Let's take a look…

The shoe area alone looks incredible…

And we've got our very own Penneys-tastic map of Dublin…

Plus this EPIC make-up wall…

Oh, and a bikini wall too…

Plus a tech accessories wall for good measure…

And in true Penneys style there's still heaps of bargains…

Yup, we're sold.

While Penneys is considered the go-to for all things festival-, summer style- and night out-related, it's not the first place you might think of to source wedding supplies.

But the Irish retail giant has just launched Primark Weddings, a whole range dedicated to those perfect details for your big day.

While they're not stocking wedding dresses (not yet, anyway), there's just about everything else you could need for a Pinterest-worthy wedding day.

Like these flower girl dresses, from the Primark Wedding Little Stitches range:

Crochet Shift Dress, €14

Print Prom Dress, €14

Lace Overlay Dress, €14

Or these little touches for the church, reception and everywhere in between:

White Wedding Plaque, €2

Wedding Arrows, €3

And for your wedding night and honeymoon, there's a heap of stunning white lace and satin lingerie, starting at just €8.

Plus these sweet pillows for your first night as a married couple *swoon*

Mr and Mrs Bedding, Pillows €5

So basically, we just want it all.

Penneys has suffered from many controversies surrounding the treatment of it's overseas workers but has recently prided itself on maintaining the highest quality standards when it comes to the production of its budget products.

So it is a bit unfortunate that they have found themselves in the midst of another controversy.

A shopper has taken to social media to post the details of a pretty convincing note allegedly from a worker in China that she found in a pair of socks she had just bought in a Primark store in the UK.

The note was in Chinese but it's disturbing contents have been translated into English.

The note was allegedly written by a man named Ting Kun Ding who has claimed to have been imprisoned and is suffering at the hands of local governments in China.

Hmm, it all seems very dramatic to us but Primark have been in touch with Lucy Kirk who found the letter in a product purchased at a store in Huddersfield.

The Lad Bible also contacted  Lucy for comment who appears to be less than co-operative with Primark to try and help resolve the situation.

"[Primark] asked for further information on which product but I refused to say as I didn't want anything to go directly back to the place the socks had come from."

"The note said to gain media attention so that's the aim. I'm unsure [whether it's real] but I think it's worth the outcry in the case that it is, rather than believing it isn't and letting it be."

So yeah, the jury is still out on this one.
