Plain old vanilla might be the default option when it comes to ice cream, but it seems this summer’s coolest treat trend has gone to the dark side for inspiration.

In between the endless stream of melting chocolate balls, icy Frappuccinos and rainbow coloured doughnuts which have come to dominate Instagram’s food porn network, you may have noticed a very unusual looking iced dessert known as black ice cream.

Pictures tagged #blackicecream show scooped and whipped ice creams served in a variety of ways, all of which are black in colour and seem to be popping up around the world.

The Tech Times has reported that Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream shop in New York is one vendor playing its role in the charcoal-coloured trend.

According to the site, Morgenstern’s black ice cream is Black Coconut Ash flavour which combines dark chocolate ice cream, squid-ink based food dye and a new flavour made from the “charred and processed remains of a coconut shell”.

And as if having black ice cream isn’t cool enough, it has been suggested that the activated charcoal in the recipe can help detox the body so you could say black ice cream is actually good for you.

Ten years ago we’d have lolled at the idea of photographing our dinners and sharing snaps of our day-to-day life online, but times have changed.

And while Instagram and Snapchat are now verbs in modern-day discourse, the vast majority of us know where to draw the line when it comes to getting snap-happy on the internet.

Unfortunately, not everyone is as savvy on this front as a 31-year-old plastic surgeon and father-of-two from the Ukraine has recently proven.

Sharing photographs of his unconscious patients on the operating table, Edgar Kaminsky has come in for considerable criticism from Surgeons at the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

While they acknowledge that the surgeon has a loyal fanbase online, they have found fault with the nature of the photographs he shares.

“Pre- and post-op pictures, when they are used professionally and respectfully, can be very helpful for patients,” Mary O’Brien, consultant plastic surgeon and BAAPS council member told the MailOnline.

"But inappropriate use of photos and social media is exploitative of vulnerable patients," she argued.

Suggesting the surgeon has more interest in gaining celebrity status than maintaining his professional reputation, she added: ”And it is my view, that during an operation, a surgeon should be focusing wholly on that operation, and not on marketing for his own personal gain.”

Defending himself against the criticism, Kaminskyi said: “All my broadcastings in Periscope are organized after the agreement with my patients.”

“They sign an appropriate document. I do not take social networks as a mean of communication, only as an advertising engine,” he added.

The minute we think we have our beauty routine sorted, one of the Kardashians will come along and remind us that we still have A LOT to learn on the cosmetic front.

And just when we think we've gotten the hang of one hack, we're introduced to another, and find ourselves questioning when we'll EVER have the whole thing nailed.

Reminding us that there's a whole treasure trove of beauty hacks out there, Kylie Jenner took to Snapchat and Instagram yesterday, and schooled her followers on her favourite ones.

While most of us opt for a blender when applying our foundation, Kylie – proving she's always one step ahead – explained that she actually wets hers and then uses it to set her powder.

According to Glamour, Kylie has the family's make-up artist, Mario Dedivanovic, to thank for the trick, with the reality star saying: "Mario taught me to get your blender a little extra wet to set your powder, So it doesn't look cakey."

In addition to revealing her handy little powder trick, the 18-year-old cosmetic queen gave her fans and followers a step-by-step tutorial on her daily beauty routine, and clocked up hundreds of thousands of likes in the process.

Now all we need her to do is provide a step-by-step guide to doing your day's make-up on the Luas, and we're all set.

In addition to being one of the first shows to give an accurate portrayal of female sexuality, noughties television sensation, Sex and the City, was known for its fashion-forward characters.

And its shoes – its hundreds and hundreds of shoes.

But while most of us are happy to allow the show its place in style history, there are others among us who are on a mission to remind us that the four New Yorkers – and their string of suitors – often fell short of the mark when it came to their wardrobe choices.

In an Instagram account called everyoutfitonsatc, die-hard Sex and the City fans can trawl through the casts' numerous ensembles and pour scorn on the somewhat questionable accessorising that went on back in the early noughties.

From Carrie's knee-high socks paired with open-toes shoes to Miranda's jaunty necktie teamed with a strapless dress, this account reminds us that when it comes to our favourite show of all time,it may be time to remove the rose-tinted glasses.

Full disclosure: We wanted that outfit.

From Brooklyn’s romantic posts with Chloe Moretz to Victoria’s candid photos with Eva Longoria, the Beckhams have been owning social media lately.

So naturally enough now that today marks the youngest Beckham’s 5th birthday, her parents have taken to Instagram to wish her a special day.

David – who was recently spotted hanging out with Amy Huberman at Wimbledon – shared a black and white picture of Harper kissing her dad on the cheek on Instagram this morning.

The image was captioned: “Happy birthday to my Pretty Lady…In 5 years baby Harper has brought so much love into our family.”

“Such a special girl in so many different ways we are so lucky to spend each day with such a beautiful soul.”

“We adore you baby girl happy birthday love Daddy.”  Awh!

Shortly after the soccer star’s post went up, designer Victoria used the same social media platform to wish her only daughter a happy birthday.

She captioned a waterside picture of her and Harper: “Happy Birthday baby girl.  We all love you so much.”

“Kisses from mummy X.”  Cute.

Earlier this week the famous couple celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary with a throwback picture online and on Tuesday their eldest son Brooklyn was spotted driving around London alone after passing his driving test.

It seems like the Beckham kids are getting very grown up altogether.

For years actress Eva Longoria has stunned with her style and beauty on the red carpet, but what did she look like before becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognisable faces?

Well – as her latest Throwback Thursday snap has revealed – she looked pretty much the same as she does today.

The star – who recently married businessman José Bastón – has taken to Instagram to share her first ever headshot with fans and while the exact date of the image has yet to be confirmed, it looks like Eva hasn’t aged a day since it was taken.

The 41-year-old celeb captioned the share: “#TBT Thanks @evajaclongoria for bringing this back!  Can anyone guess how old I am in this pic?! #FirstHeadshotEver #WhatUpWithThePuffyHair #MyNaturalHairColorJetBlack.”

Eva’s first big role came in 2001 when she played Isabella in an American soap called The Young and the Restless.

However she is now best known for her role as Gabrielle Solis in Desperate Housewives which she played from 2004 until 2012.

Margot Robbie, you might want to look away now – Wait, Margot Robbie reads this, right?

She does, of course she does.

Anyway, while Ms. Robbie admits she spent her teen years desperately trying to look like Harry Potter – no, seriously – one girl on Instagram has actually managed it for real.

Annelies Van Overbeek, who bears a striking resemblance to movie icon, Audrey Hepburn, has Instagram enthralled by her incredible transformations, but it's her Harry Potter one that has really caught the public's imagination.

Sharing two snaps of herself as everybody's favourite wizard, Annelies wrote: "And now for something completely different; my second attempt at looking like Harry Potter!"

"I watched The Prisoner of Azkaban yesterday and tonight we're watching The Goblet of Fire! (My fave HP book!)," she added alongside a photo of herself looking remarkably like the young male wizard.

"Don't worry, I didn't forget the scar! Nor did I cut my hair hahah!" she wrote alongside another close-up snap of her impressive transformation.

Let's be honest here, girl's got skills.

Aside from a brief affair with the teapot, the duckface has been the go-to selfie position since Bebo was a thing, but it seems the pouty pose may have to make room for a new kid on the block.

Welcome “fingermouthing” – the strategic positioning of the fingers in front of the mouth to give the classic snapping look a slightly more natural-looking element.

The benefits of fingermouthing include showing off your latest batch of gel nails, being able to cover up any unsightly blemishes and making you look like you could be thinking about something other than, well, fingermouthing.

This selfie position is super versatile and can be altered to suit any individual needs you might have by tilting the head, slightly opening the mouth and splaying the fingers more than might actually be necessary.

The stance is most commonly used by bloggers and celebrities and with basically every Kardashian-Jenner being a fan, we’re sure this trend is not going away anytime soon.

If social media is anything to go by in the last two days, hell hath no fury like an American scorned on July 4th.

And while we're pretty sure most people found Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston's July 4th celebrations more inappropriate than Kaley Cuoco's Independence Day slip-up, that hasn't stopped the Big Bang Theory actress from dropping to her knees and grovelling like there's no tomorrow.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the popular actress paid tribute to her country by sharing a snap of her three pets chilling out on an American flag, and people are NOT happy.

"Thank you @the_pet_handler for taking care of the squad while im out of town! 4th of July pups!" wrote Kaley in a move which Instagram users have deemed inappropriate on so many levels.

"Showing disrespect for the flag, it should never touch the ground, or let your pet stand on it!" wrote one while another remarked: "That's not a towel. I believe in the right to burn the flag in protest as long as it's in context, that's why so many people gave their lives, for freedom."

"But this is not that, this is simply disrespectful," they added "That's a flag. A symbol of what people have sacrificed for."

Acknowledging her major misstep, Kaley swiftly deleted the offending image before replacing it with heart-shaped stars and stripes snap.

I would like to comment on a photo I posted yesterday , that has caused lots of controversy. First off, please know, I have the utmost respect for my country. I am a proud American in every sense of the word. I understand the American flag stands for our freedom and represents American heroes , past and present. Yesterday I made a mistake by posting the picture that was taken of my sweet dogs posing on an American flag. I sincerely apologize to anyone that has been offended by my previous post. This is no way reflects my feelings toward what the American flag represents. Living in the public eye, can be extremely difficult at times. Every mistake and every imperfection is amplified. I am not perfect. I am a proud American, today, tomorrow, always.

We love a good beauty transformation here at SHEmazing! so naturally we were excited to find talented Instagrammer Annelies Marie Francine who is exceptionally good at recreating old-school Hollywood looks.

The Belgian teen is currently studying history at the University of Leuven but as a self-described “girl with big dreams and a vivid imagination” she also has a major passion for make-up and vintage fashion.

To channel this love, 17-year-old Annelies transforms herself into a variety of Hollywood stars including Audrey Hepburn, Vivien Leigh and Kiera Knightley, as well as Disney characters like Snow White and Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

She told Seventeen: "I have always loved using makeup and hair to transform myself into other people and movie characters."

"A year ago I cut my hair into a pixie cut and people started telling me I looked like Audrey Hepburn. I wasn't very familiar with anything old Hollywood related at all, but when I looked her up I fell in love with the elegance of vintage silver-screen glamour!"

Currently the teen mainly uses Instagram to showcase her talent but she hopes to start filming makeup tutorials on YouTube in the future.

Let us set the scene for you.

It's a quarter to four in the morning, you and your BFF are slumped across the kitchen table after a night out and as one of you cracks open more vino with the heel of your shoe, the other begins to have what can only be described as an existential crisis.

Teetering perilously close to the edge, she insists you mean more to her than – hic – anyone else in the world, but – hic – what is the point in this whole – hic – thing called life?

If that sounds familiar, you're going to feel like you've already read Justin Bieber's latest post because it basically sounds like all of us after a few too many gins with a few less hiccups and a lot more punctuation.

"It's crazy how some people don't even question or ponder the reason for their existence and are okay going through the motions," he began in a post which has clocked up 427,000 likes in just two hours,

"We don't live to die," he insisted." We have purpose and meaning! Step outside your comfort zone and challenge your friends by asking those tough questions like what do you think the meaning of life is? What do you think your purpose is?"

A photo posted by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on

"I'm not saying you have to believe the same thing I believe but at least have the discussion," he pleaded.

"Sometimes it can be scary opening yourself up to what can come from those conversations, and I think it can be easier sometimes to just avoid and not think about it."

Finishing off the post before faceplanting signing out, the Love Yourself singer wrote "But I think it's worth it!!!"

Good man yourself, Justin. Sure, you're dead right.
