As anyone who has ever been for a wax can confirm, it’s unlikely to be the highlight of your week.

There you are, lying back half-starkers in front of a strange woman while she gets to work ripping out your hair – often from, ahem, sensitive regions.

So no, it’s hardly all that alluring.

However, most woman also admit that it’s a necessary evil – and one which at least leaves you smooth and hair-free for longer than two days (thanks, shaving).

There’s a lot to be said to a great waxist too – one that really knows that they’re doing and uses a decent product (we particularly love salons that stock the oh-so amazing Irish brand Waxperts).

Still – most of us have a least one waxing horror story: one that makes you shudder upon recollection.

And you’re probably not alone: indeed, Buzzfeed recently rounded up a selection of truly nasty tales… and here, SHEmazing! has selected the best for your, er, enjoyment.

1) “I work in a spa and heard an awkward shriek come from the waxing room. I asked my co-worker what happened.

“She told me she accidentally pulled the client’s tampon string, then tried to push it back in. Needless to say, that client never came back.”

2) “My legs had fallen asleep during the waxing. When I tried to get off the table, my legs gave out and I faceplanted half naked onto the floor while my waxer watched in horror.”

3) “At my salon I do all of the body waxing services. While in the middle of waxing a client’s backside, the woman farted and way more than just smelly air came out. It was a mess.”

4) “My first bikini wax was in high school. Two of my best friends waxed me while I laid on a coffee table in my basement.

“I guess you could say I was “surprised” by the pain, and I peed everywhere. I’m still embarrassed almost six years later.”

5) “Halfway through my bikini wax, the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate the building. Let’s just say fire drills are not fun when there’s wax all over your downstairs…”

6) “I recently got my very first Brazilian wax. The lady had put two wax strips on the lip. When she pulled one, I shut my legs in pain, causing the wax to basically glue my vagina shut.”

7) “When I went into the waxing room, I started making casual conversation with the aesthetician and I jokingly asked her, ‘Do I have a normal vagina?’ She looked at me and just laughed, ‘Haha no.’ We didn’t talk the rest of the time.”

8) “One time I got into the position where you pull your knees up to your chest and I farted loudly right into the waxer’s face. I immediately yelled ‘SORRY!’ and didn’t look her in the eyes for the rest of the session.”

9) I thought it would be genius to wax myself. I somehow managed to drop A LOT of hot wax all over the main hoo-ha area, as in NOT the bikini area.

“After a few seconds the wax had hardened and I realised I had basically sealed everything together. I attempted several pulls with zero success.

“So I did the only thing I could think of: I downed a bottle of wine, took a deep breath, and counted to three.”

10) “It hurt so bad, I started crying and having an anxiety attack. The aesthetician said, ‘Oh I’m so sorry! I’ve never had anyone cry on me before.’

“Literally the exact opposite of what I wanted to hear in that moment. Terrible first experience.”

11) “The woman doing my wax would first put the wax on me and then awkwardly blow on me to cool the wax down. She would look up and smile every time she did it. It was traumatising.”

12) “It was my first time. The waxer looked at me and said, ‘Oh my god. You didn’t trim beforehand?!’ She sighed and got an electric shaver. I was mortified.

“I was even more mortified when she said, ‘You’re so dry.’ I didn’t say another word until checkout… 45 minutes later.”

Uh oh, if you're offended easily, then look away now. A group of American's have watched Irish television series Father Ted for the first time and they really just didn't grasp it. Like, at all.

Fair enough, it is extremely Irish humour, but they had a bit of trouble trying to wrap their head around it. Buzzfeed asked some of their staff to sit and watch the iconic television series for the first time and according to them, Irish people wearing a lot of turtle necks.

Once the episode started, they got more confused. Asking "Were we supposed to laugh at that?" and saying "I don't think it's funny at all" in an innocent manner without realising that they are basically insulting our entire heritage.

They were most confused by the mention of a watching a film on the TV show to which they asked "What's filum? What's filum??"

And the attempt at an Irish accent? Please stop.

The most odd part of the video was probably the pair that said they were attracted to Father Dougal. He wasn't exactly a sex symbol when the series first aired, but now that you mention it…

In New York, all kinds of everything pass as everyday occurrences.

Men wear cats on their heads, and a naked cowboy plays the guitar on Times Square. That and it’s a place where fashion choices can be unquestionably described as ‘daring’.

So when one local woman on the verge of a milestone birthday wanted to come up with an inventive way to mark the occasion – she reckoned wandering around Manhattan in nothing but a too-small bikini (“is it supposed to ride up constantly?”) would do the trick.

And it did.

Donning bedazzled H&M swimwear, the newly-turned 30-year-old took to the streets… and proceeded to shake-off her insecurities.

“For my 30th birthday I’m giving myself the gift of giving no f***s and going out in NYC in a bikini,” Loryn Brantz said in an article posted to Buzzfeed.

The writer said she’s struggled at times with her weight and with bulimia – so she also saw the experiment as a small personal victory.

Before venturing out, she opted to write ‘30’ on her stomach. Although, as she explained: “It turns out writing on your belly can be very disorienting and I wrote it wrong. In the spirit of ‘giving no f***s,’ I decided to leave it as is.”

Loryn also admitted: “I was extremely nervous on the trip out of my building but once we got moving I started to feel pretty awesome until I received some mean looks.

“I was instantly transported to the feeling of being insecure in high school dance uniforms, which really caught me off guard since I hadn’t felt that way in a long time. I tried to do like Taylor and ‘shake it off.’”

On a trip to the farmers market, she light-heartedly compared herself to fresh produce: “So maybe the peaches had rounder butts than me, but what they had in butts they lacked in conversation skills.”

Ms Brantz said after a while she “felt like a warrior princess”. She added: “If someone had told me 10 years ago that I would someday sit publicly in a bikini, I would have fainted.

“It was strange and also a little sad that something so simple as sitting in a bikini felt empowering.”

And as her experiment draws to a close, she is reflective – and optimistic. “Here’s to walking around topless for my 40th!” she joked.

Afterwards, most commentators were encouraging: “This was beautiful to read. Congratulations :)” said one reader via Twitter.

Another said on the Buzzfeed page: Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! Looking at a beautiful woman like you I'd never have guessed that you ever struggled with your weight.”

A third stated simply: “You go, Loryn!! I think you kicked ass.”

This is pretty hilarious.

If you remember back to the good ol’ days of not having to worry about rent, or sugar or your carbon footprint, you’ll remember being scared about growing up. For all of the reason just listed.

Buzzfeed decided to ask these children what they thought adulthood was really like, and needless to say, they were right about everything.

Buzzfeed Video is back with some more informative details about food.

Don’t worry, they’re not trying our Irish delicacies again – this time they’ve decided to tell us all the gruesome details surrounding our much loved foods.

From ground beef to hot dogs, you’ll never look at the meat counter in the same way again.

Warning this video is not for the fainthearted, especially if you’ve just eaten.

Buzzfeed have published a list of ’25 coffee shops around the world you must see before you die’, and 3fe on Grand Canal Street made it to number 15!

In the article they said that “The vibes are so peaceful and calm that you’ll get lost watching the baristas prepare coffee” – we are SOLD!

Owner Colin Harmon is delighted with the publicity: “We’ve managed to make it onto a few international lists over the years, mostly thanks to the various baristas we’ve had compete at the World Barista Championships.

“We have quite a high profile internationally as a result but most of the coffee drinking public in Ireland have never heard of us so lists like this are great for business.”

Harmon appreciated how the article paid tribute to his dedicated staff as well: “It’s so nice that the article made reference to the staff in 3fe because they all put a huge emphasis on service and making sure customers feel welcome at the shop.”

We’ll definitely be heading down soon!

Another hit from Buzzfeed. Their staff have bravely opted in to taste test our Irish delicacies. Some of what they are treated to include  Tayto’s, Cadbury’s Turkish Delight and black pudding to which they refer to as ‘blood sausage’. We also have a problem with their choice of Tayto’s. Smoky bacon? Surely we’re more renowned for the cheese and onion!

The video is pretty hilarious and well worth a look. Anyone wanna try an ‘Irish taste tests American food’ version? Now that’d be worth a watch!
