Body shaming is still alive and well in society, whether it's in the Instagram comment section or among a peer group.

For many people, body shaming is something they deal with everyday, and the very first time anyone made a comment about their bodies was memorable.

The founder and CEO of sportswear company Oiselle Sally Bergesen took to Twitter to ask women to share that first comment on Twitter to shed light on the issue.

Hundreds of women took to the hashtag #TheySaid after Sally shared her own experience of being called a 'butterball' as a child.

Women from all walks of life and of all shapes and sizes shared their experiences, proving not only that body shaming is a regular occurrence, but that it effects women of all sizes.

Many of the experiences were completely heartbreaking:

The comments were made by family, co-workers and even college professors.

The hashtag aimed to create a narrative around body shaming, and women from around the world are still contributing.

The Sisters of Charity order is set to receive a multi-million euro sum in a deal for the religious order to exit the new National Maternity Hospital complex.

The news was confirmed yesterday, with James Menton, chair of St Vincent's Healthcare Group, telling The Irish Independent that the sale of the site would amount to millions.

Members of the religious order were previously renting the site to the St Vincent's Healthcare Group.

The involvement of the Sisters of Charity in the new National Maternity Hospital was met with a wave of criticism from the public.

An online petition was created, which has since garnered over 105,000 signatures, against the move.

National Maternity Hospital board member Mícheál Mac Donncha told The Journal that there was no doubt that the public's opinion influenced the decision for the order to remove themselves from any hospital involvement.

'I’ve no doubt that their withdrawal was caused by the controversy,' he said.

Yesterday, Tiger Woods was arrested for a DUI in his home state of Florida.

The golfer, who less than a decade ago was raking in €1 billion, was arrested for "driving erratically, all over the road," in the early hours of the morning.

According to TMZ, police sources said that the former sportsman was "arrogant," when the police smelled booze off his breath and refused to take a breathalyser test.

This refusal led to an automatic arrest, however this morning his team have insisted that he was not drunk.

Instead, they're claiming the incident was the result of "an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications."

He was in police custody for nearly four hours before being released.

In a statement, Tiger said: "I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions.

"I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn't realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.

"I would like to apologise with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans. I expect more from myself too.

"I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.

"I fully cooperated with law enforcement, and I would like to personally thank the representatives of the Jupiter Police Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office for their professionalism."

A 36-year-old man accused of raping a university student at Kilmashogue Lane, Rathfarnham, Co Dublin in September 2014 has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court.

According to a report in The Irish Times, the defendant told Gardai that he had 'fully consensual sex' with the woman he met through Tinder three years ago.

The court heard that upon his arrest, the accused asked Garda Ciaran Byrne: "Who am I supposed to have raped? Is this the girl from Tinder?”

The jury heard that the two individuals met three days after exchanging messages through the dating app, and began their date at a McDonalds restaurant.

The prosecutor told the court that the accused became angry when the complainant rebuffed his sexual advances before ordering her out of the car and driving off.

The court then heard that the accused returned and ordered the woman into the car before driving further into the mountains where the alleged rape took place.

Testifying in court, Dr Roz Quinn explained that the woman visited her practice on Camden Street the day after the alleged rape and was tested for sexually transmitted infections in addition to being prescribed the morning after pill.

Speaking to prosecutor, Alex Owens, Dr. Quinn provided the court with an overview of her meeting with the alleged victim.

"It was very much a non-verbal consultation, there were very little words spoken. She (the complainant) looked at the floor throughout. She was tear-stained and was wearing no make up, she didn’t look well at all.”

The trial continues, with Mr Justice Paul Butler presiding.

It’s been 30 years since a young mother-of-two went missing following a night out in Dublin city centre, and as the anniversary of her death approaches, her two daughters are taking the opportunity to appeal to the public for information.

Antoinette Smith spent July 11 1987 at a David Bowie concert at Slane Castle before deciding to continue the festivities with a visit to La Mirage nightclub on Dublin’s Parnell Street later that night.

At approximately 02.15, the 27-year-old left the nightclub and wasn’t seen again.

She was considered a missing person until her remains were found on Glendoo Mountain almost a year after her disappearance.

Three decades on and the person or persons responsible for Antoinette's death have not been brought to justice – something which understandably weighs heavily on the mind of the two children she left behind.

Now 37 and 34, Lisa and Rachel admit that their mother’s brutal passing has cast a long shadow, but they remain hopeful that their appearance on tonight’s Crimecall will go some way towards solving the case.

“We had a stolen childhood, but, it’s like they’ve stolen some of our adulthood as well because for us it doesn’t go away,” Lisa said.

“I’d be lying if I said we didn’t struggle. We do. Everyday. Because it’s always there, it doesn’t go away. Because the person that did it is still out there."

"I’m 37 now and it’s like I’ve lived my life without her. It’s crazy to think I’ve had a lifetime without my Mam. It’s heartbreaking to think that two young kids who are now adults they still have no sense of closure. To me closure is catching the person,” she continued.

“It would mean a great deal to us because it would mean we can actually put her to rest, she can rest in peace. And it means we can move on,” Rachel added.

Gardaí are appealing directly to those who may know what happened to Antoinette. For further information on the case, tune into tonight’s Crimecall on RTÉ One at 9.35pm.

Jesy Nelson's fans have always loved the singer's forever-changing locks, but we think the latest makeover is her most daring one yet.

The Little Mix star took to social media yesterday to debut her new look – and we're totally in love with it.

Jesy uploaded the snap ahead of the band's Radio 1’s Big Weekend performance on Sunday.

She simply mentioned the gig in her caption, and let her fans do the talking about the makeover.

One fan, who was clearly very excited about the change, wrote: “I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR HAIR JESY!!!!!!”

While another commented: “Honestly what look does Jesy not suit?”

And we have to agree, it looks like Jesy can pull off any look she wants to.

While debuting her new look at the Radio 1 concert, her bandmate Perrie had to excuse herself after cursing on stage.

Because of the swear word used, the performance had to be pulled from live broadcast, with presenter Matt Edmonson having to apologise to fans.

"Apologies there. Sincere apologies for any bad language you might have heard.

"That was not intended to go out on the radio. We apologise if you're offended by that. We're going to dip out of their set for a little while now."

While being asked to be a bridesmaid means that your bestie truly cherishes your friendship, we've all heard the horror stories of fall outs and fights leading up to the Big Day.

One of the most common things bridesmaids complain about is not having the time to organise everything to the bride's specifications, and we all know that is when stress levels rise.

However, this woman created a business out of being a bridesmaid, and she's raking in the cash because of it.

Jan Glantz created Bridesmaid For Hire three years ago after being asked to be a bridesmaid twice in the space of 48 hours.

And now? Well she has given up working full-time in order to pursue her business, which makes her on average $1,500 (€1340) per gig.

Her $1,500 package includes comprehensive pre-wedding planning, hen party help and walking down the aisle with the bride in question.

However, Jen charges extra for services such as a tutorial videos for bridesmaids ($27/€24), Skype sessions to answer the maid of honours' questions ($272/€243) and a bridesmaid speech writing guide (£136/€121).

In a recent interview, she told The Telegraph, "I'm a mix of on-call therapist, virtual assistant, social director and peacekeeper. I do the bridesmaid's dirty work – and I love it."

And if you think Jen's services are for brides without any friends, Jen assures that it's nothing like that.

Instead, it's for women who need a bit more support on their Big Day. She ensures that everything is in order and runs smoothly.

And the testimonials on her website certainly stand up to that, with brides praising Jen for her support and advice.

“One of my Maids of Honour personally told me after the wedding how much pressure and stress it took off her being able to work with Jen,” wrote one bride.

“That meant a lot to me that the people I love the most got to enjoy the party. I was stress-free and happy, because my friends were stress-free and happy.”

While another said, "Hiring Jen was one of the best wedding investments we made. I am so happy I was able to relax and enjoy my wedding – it was the most perfect day."
