When it comes to Facebook, the vast majority of us think our older relatives do nothing but post inspirational quotes and accidentally use the status box as a search engine.

But if this girl's granny is anything to go by, some actually use it to rag on their mate's baking skills – something which has delighted thousands in recent days.

Taking to Twitter, Row from Scotland shared a screengrab of an exchange which occurred between her grandmother and another woman, and it looks like Row's granny definitely knows how to speak her mind.

"Some poor bird is heavy chuffed with her tattie scones n ma granny has absolutely scorned her. 'Sorry Alison, they look sh*te.'" Row wrote in a post which has amassed a staggering 29,000 likes in two days.

After catching sight of Alison's efforts, Hazel Ramsay wrote: "Sorry Alison but they look sh*te. Hope they tasted better than they looked. I've no tried the recipe yet I will post a picture." (sic)

"Brilliant. Aw, that's made my night," wrote one Twitter user while another added: "Thank God Hazel brought the real talk."

Hazel for Mayor.

When it comes to our sense of identity, the second-last line of our address plays a big part in the person we become.

From local traditions to that accent, strangers can easily identify the corner of Ireland we call home from just a quick chat.

Well, at least we imagine that’s the case.

Growing up in a border village throws all sorts of challenges in the mix and can cause endless confusion.

Here are nine things you’ll know all too well if you grew up on the border of multiple counties.

1.  Choosing a school will define who you are

While it may come down to which school is closer, whatever choice you make will leave an impression on you.

Your sense of locality will forever be linked to that area and therefore, without even knowing it, you’ve made your choice.

2. You’ll always be a loner on the school bus

Growing up on the border, you’re bound to find yourself an extra 20 minutes from town.

Being the first pick-up on the school bus run will allow you the personal time you may need while you wait for the next kid to join you a little closer to civilisation.

3. No matter how broad, people will always comment on your accent

While you may only live ten minutes over the road, some people will still comment on how different your accent is and how they can “hear the twang”.

You will develop the ability to mimic those around you, choosing the slang you use carefully so to blend into the locality.

4. People will spin out of control when you tell them you have two addresses

Growing up where you did, your parents would have had to work out which address was the most beneficial for you.

Explain that living on the border means you get to choose the closest post office, regardless of its address, and get your post that little bit quicker.

Understanding that this is a case of practicality, people will soon nod in agreement and won’t feel like you’re keeping a dark secret.

5. Summer is the hardest time of the year

With GAA season is full swing, people will demand you spill blood and choose a side.

While your parents may have already made this decision for you when they bought you your first jersey as a child, many will still try and sway your decision.

Best to avoid the conversation altogether and go into hibernation until September.

6. Online shopping will test your patience like nothing ever before

While many will say online shopping is “easier” and “more convenient”, we know better.

Getting a package delivered will usually take weeks as you watch your tracking information go back and forth from “out for delivery” to “returned to depot” repeatedly thanks to confusion around the damn border county.

You will get to know all the couriers and depots within a 40km radius and what companies they work for.

Soon you will have your delivery system perfected and will receive packages with ease.

7. You will become a conversation chameleon

After a while, you will learn that the best way to cope with the inevitable “where are you from?” question is by beating them to the punch and asking first.

With their answer, you will know how to proceed.

Respond with whatever county you feel will create a common ground and watch as a new friendship flourishes.

8. Friends will feel betrayed when they realise it was all a lie

After a period of time, friends are bound to catch you out saying you’re from somewhere else and there will be a sense of betrayal.

At this time they will question many other things about your life. Assure them it was a white lie told innocently to help form the friendship.

When they realise there’s only a five minute difference between the place you said you were from and the place you actually call home, tensions will dissipate.

9. It will all come down to a map and a strategically placed dot

All the explaining in the world won’t be enough for some and inevitably it will come down to maps and dots.

Giving people a physical representation of where you live will provide a whole new level of understanding.

But with their new-found knowledge, come questions… on everything we just mentioned.

We first saw them on the runway of the Marni Spring/Summer 2013 show, but blurred lips are BACK, and better than ever.

That's right ladies, blurred lipstick is set to be one of 2017's biggest beauty trends, and we are loving it.

Last year brought use finely lined lips (Kylie Jenner, we love your work), and perfectly precise pouts.

This year is going to be a little bit more grunge, with an almost smudged effect taking over the beauty-sphere.

According to Cosmopolitan, you must "start off by dabbing some concealer on the outer edges of your lips. Then apply a lipstick in the colour of your choice to the centre of your lips."

Using a bold shade, "use your fingers or a lip brush to lightly pat some more lipstick on the rest of your lips. This will help to create a gradient effect where it looks like the lipstick fades into your skin."

How FAB-U-LOUS are these?

She wasn't the first one to do it, and she certainly won't be the last, but Lola Kirke's decision not to shave her armpits ahead of the Golden Globes has attracted a worrying amount of coverage among the press and public.

And while many have celebrated Lola's decision, it seems a certain section of society believe an unshaven female armpit warrants a death threat.

In a post which stunned fans and followers this week, the actress took to Instagram to address the 'controversy', and made reference to the negative backlash she had received in the wake of her red carept walk.

Sharing a photo of herself on the night Lola wrote: "Ok, Now I'm really ready. Thanks to all you beautiful people that didn't send me death threats on account of my awesome hairy armpits."

Refusing to dwell on the drama which followed her appearance, the Mozart in the Jungle actress decided, instead, to pay tribute to the individuals who helped her prep for the big night.

"And thank you @susanwinget for always making me feel cool and @reginaharris for my make up, @blakeerik for my hair and @andrewgn for my kickass dress!" she wrote.

Stunned by the star's admission, fans and followers wasted no time expressing their disbelief over her revelation.

"Why are ppl so amazed by this like wow hairy pits? I'm inspired," wrote one while another remarked: "Beautiful human!!! Thanks for trying to change this patriarchal society!"

"As Kelly Le Brock said in those old commercials, "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful." Glad you're refusing to be shamed by the demented and confused," added another.

Unfortunately, not everyone was on the same page, with one Instagram user writing; " So flashing disgusting armpit hair is somehow gona change womens rights or equality or whatever, find other ways , not this bullsh*t."

Can't school everyone.

The occupiers of Apollo House will finally leave the building this morning, as one of Ireland's most supported and well publicised acts of guerrilla activism comes to an end.

The Home Sweet Home initiative has said that it will move the residents to an undisclosed location.

More than 10 residents stayed in the building overnight as several returned from alternate accommodation they'd been provided by the government, which was deemed "unsafe" and "unsuitable."

They will leave the building this morning to comply with the High Court order to vacate, which came into effect at noon on Wednesday.

"It is regrettable that in recent days the state has failed to take this opportunity to publicly support this effort to address a national emergency." said the Home Sweet Home initiative.

"The Apollo House building, because of High Court Action, is not suitable for residents who need to access support services who can't get in."

"We are moving our residents to somewhere they will be able to access services. We are staying with them and continue to advocate for them."

"We will ensure that all of the matters agreed with Minister Coveney will be delivered and will continue our Emergency Housing Plan delivery."

Anyone still inside Apollo House in Dublin could be held in contempt of court, if they haven't vacated the homeless safe haven by the time the High Court is updated this morning.

Yesterday, the court refused to grant an extension to an order to leave the NAMA owned building.

A convoy of taxis are currently moving the residents to their new digs.

We had been warned that wintry conditions were set to hit the island – and it's now official: it's SNOWING in Ireland.

One caller told 2fm's Breakfast Republic that a bit of a blizzard is going on in Wicklow, while others around the country have been posting snaps of their own mini winter wonderlands on social media.

Kristine Boyd is this morning in Belfast – where the snow is coming down fast and heavy.

And Maeve McGrath in Kerry captured her dog on a snowy walk this morning.

There is also snowfall in Tipperary.

As well as in Ballymena in Co. Antrim.

Met Éireann has said that it will be "very cold today," with "some hill snow in places" which "will turn increasingly to sleet and snow at lower levels this morning, mainly over Ulster, Connacht and west Munster and in remaining areas this afternoon and evening."

And if that wasn't enough to make you want to hibernate, it adds: "Some thunderstorms are likely to develop also. Top afternoon temperatures of just 2 to 4 C., and feeling colder in the strengthening west to northwesterly wind."

Brrrrrrrrrr!

Lets not beat around the bush, we all love Nutella, whether it be in a crepe, on toast or even alone on a spoon.

So imagine our devastation when we read a study that claims that one of Nutella's main ingredients, palm oil, is carcinogenic.

The report, by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), claims that palm oil is more cancer-causing than any other oil when refined at temperatures above 200 degrees, as it often is in the food processing industry.

However, the study did not recommend that consumers stop eating it (thank goodness) as further research into the area is required.

Nutella producer Ferrero has taken a public stand to defend the ingredient, after some companies have called for a boycott of the cheap oil.

"Making Nutella without palm oil would produce an inferior substitute for the real product, it would be a step backward," Ferrero's purchasing manager Vincenzo Tapella told Reuters.

Nutella relies on the oil to help create its smooth, spreadable texture and maintain its shelf life.

In order to counteract the 3 percent dip in sales that Nutella has seen since the publication of the palm oil report, the company has released a TV ad discussing the studys findings and reassuring customers that its spread is safe.

"The palm oil used by Ferrero is safe because it comes from freshly squeezed fruits and is processed at controlled temperatures," Tapella says in the ad.

Well thank god for that.

Paris Jackson was adamantly against the casting of Joseph Fiennes as her father, Michael Jackson, in an upcoming Sky Arts television movie Urban Myths.

The teen spoke out about the casting of Fiennes, to the point where she called it 'disgusting.'

Fans were shocked by Fiennes’ appearance as Jackson as the trailer for the movie launched this week.

“I’m so incredibly offended by it, as I’m sure plenty of people are as well,” Paris responded on Twitter when asked for her thoughts on the portrayal.

"It makes me want to vomit."

The TV movie focuses on an alleged road trip across America that Michael Jackson took with Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando after 9/11.

A debate arose on Twitter when the casting of the film was originally released about the fact that MJ would be played by a white mad despite his African-American heritage.

“Where is the respect? They worked through blood sweat and tears for ages to create such profound and remarkable legacies. Shameful portrayal,” Paris continued.

“He made a point of it plenty of times to express his pride in his roots. He would never have wanted this.”

“It angers me to see how obviously intentional it was for them to be this insulting, not just towards my father, but my godmother liz as well," she finished.

“It is part of a series of comedies about unlikely stories from arts and cultural history. Sky Arts gives producers the creative freedom to cast roles as they wish, within the diversity framework which we have set,” Sky Arts previously told People

Two months after his split with Victoria's Secret model Bella Hadid, the Weeknd was spotted out on a date with singer Selena Gomez.

The Cant Keep My Hands To Myself singer and the Weekend were seen kissing behind a dumpster (not very Hollywood glam) in Los Angeles.

The pair were photographed cuddling as they walked down the street and were generally acting like a cutsie loved up couple.

Bella Hadid isn't too happy about this, and understandably unfollowed Selena on Instagram.

However she still follows her ex The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye.

Just in case you want to have a quick creep, right Bella?

Bella and The Weeknd dated for almost two years after they met in back in April 2015 when Bella agreed to pose for the Canadian musician's album artwork for the Beauty Behind The Madness.

The pair split two months ago, reportedly due to hectic work schedules.

Their schedules became synchronised at the Victoria's Secret fashion show in December, when The Weeknd performed a string of his most popular hits while Bella stormed the catwalk.

Selena Gomez aso performed at the event.
