Since having a fleeting romance with Justin Bieber this year, Sofia Richie has sky-rocketed to the mainstream.

She's now seen out partying with the likes of Rita Ora, Paris Hilton and Kylie Jenner – all major fashionistas in their own right. I've been keeping an eye on Sofia's style for months now because frankly, I think it's weird and wacky (in a good way).

Sofia is not your average girl-next-door celeb and often dons pretty 'out-there' outfits – something I thought I could never pull off myself. But I wanted to, so I tried.

After creeping on her Instagram page I took on my next quest of Dressing Like A Celeb. Not wanting to spend very much cash, I had a ponder on PrettyLittleThing for inspiration and was pretty happy to discover the likes of Sofia-worthy trousers for only €9.80, as well as a gorgeous LBD for €21. Steal!

OK, so for my first outfit I went for a dress, over a jumper and some black leather thigh-high boots.

Honestly, I thought this looked bizarre on her Insta, but was very surprised when I put the clothes on myself. It actually looked pretty good?

I thought matching a skin-tight LBD with an army-print jumper underneath would look awkward AF and totally out of place.

But do you know what? I might consider wearing something like this for the Christmas party season. With the black dress only costing €21 and the khaki top at €8.40 (OK so the boots are my own), you couldn't get any better than that for an outfit around this time of year. I felt slick and I was comfy and warm so I'm going to put this outfit as a win.

Me – 1, Sofia – 0

For my next outfit, I decided to try something a bit more casual, but still 'out-there' nonetheless. This consisted off crazy-coloured tracksuit bottoms and a crop top.

Now, I'll be the first to tell you that my wardrobe is practically full of black, so wearing brightly-coloured trackies is something I'd never ever do. Not even in bed when I'm mighty hungover. It's just a no-no for me. And I think this outfit was a definite no-no for me, too.

Even though it was casual, I felt gawky. I felt too BRIGHT, like there was flashing Christmas lights wrapped around my legs.

However, if you're into these PrettyLittleThing trackies, they do come in at just under a tenner. Many people would wear this outfit and be able to pull it off, but I felt awkward (as you can probably notice in the picture). Sofia wins this one.

Me – 1, Sofia – 1

For the last outfit, I'll admit I picked something I knew I'd never wear right off the bat. While I loved the pieces on Sofia separately (that coat is #goals), I'd never wear them together. Eh, where's her trousers at?!

But yet again, I was surprised. It looked super cool, and it was cosy (even though I only had two items of clothing on).

Now before I get carried away, I'd definitely need something underneath this if I was to wear it out, but I think it worked well.

It was the most expensive outfit, with both the thigh-high boots and aviator jacket costing €70 a piece, but I'd happily pay that because the quality was fab.

Actually… I was delighted with the outfit! I'll give this half a point, because honestly, I picked it for the lolz, but then was quite pleased with the outcome.

Total: Me – 1.5, Sofia, 1

I didn't think any of these outfits would suit me and believed that only the rich and famous could pull something like this off.

So, I guess it just goes to show that it's OK to step outside of your comfort zone every once in a while. You might be surprised – I definitely was.

When it comes to Harry Potter merchandise, the sky's the limit for some people.

And nowhere was this more evident than during a recent auction which saw a first edition Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone go for a staggering £43,750.

While those in the know at Bonhams Fine Books and Manuscripts Sale estimated the book might go for between £15,000 and £20,000, it exceeded all expectations after a series of what has been described as "intense bidding".

"This was an exceptional price for a much-loved modern classic," senior specialist Simon Roberts said following the astronomical deal.

“The book was in excellent condition which added to its appeal for collectors and I am not surprised that it attracted so much interest and such intense bidding.”

According to reports, the first edition, which hit shelves in June 1997, went to a London-based businessman.

Christmas Day is a time to spend with family and friends, eating chocolate while trying to ignore your mum's persistent plea to wear something 'more respectable' for mass.

However, for the 175,600 women who work on December 25th their day is a little bit different.

As you unwrap gifts and toast the special day (more than once), firefighters, gardaí, nurses, hotel staff, midwives, carers, doctors and charity workers will be donning their uniform for the day – when many  would squirm at the thoughts of even getting out of their jammies.

So, to thank these inspirational ladies for keeping the country going, Boots Ireland decided to treat a number of women from a range of occupations to a day of much-deserved pampering.

Paramedic intern, Emma Kennedy from Offaly and her sister, midwife Shona Kennedy, are both due to work this Christmas day, and were delighted with the early festive treat.

“It was wonderful to be treated like a celebrity by Boots. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and kind. We had a great time.”

31-year-old Rachel Cunningham a contact worker with Focus Ireland spent last Christmas working in their coffee shop, providing meals to homeless people who otherwise wouldn’t have had anyone to spend the day with, and couldn't thank Boots enough.

“People need support and care every day of the year, it doesn’t stop on Christmas Day. The experience with Boots was completely different to my day to day life. It was amazing and fun and a little surreal! I loved every moment of it.’’

With Kylie Minogue's Everybody’s Free to Feel Good in the background, this is one video that is GUARANTEED to make you feel appreciated – because you are.

There’s little better than finding a One4all gift card nestling in the middle of a birthday or Christmas card.

But we’d be lying if we said we didn’t regularly curse the fact we couldn’t put it to good use at our favourite Irish store – Penneys (obvs.)

It looks, however, like our luck has finally changed!

Brace yourselves ladies, because today Penneys announced they have officially partnered with the gift card company!

So, if you’ve a card or two lying around or been saving one up for a serious spree, now’s the time!

The 10-minute class is available online and absolutely free, so you can use it to your peril for whenever you need to de-stress.

The video aims to draw attention to how cats and kittens can put us in a good mood, and hopefully it'll help Blue Cross re-home it's adorable rescue cats.

Take a look and see if it calms you a little – just watch out for the purring (you'll know what we mean when you hear it)!

If an email marked 'Netflix cancellation' lands in your email inbox, take a deep breath and ignore it, ladies.

While the thoughts of someone putting an end to our nightly TV binges sends a chill through most of us, the company have assured customers that the email which is currently doing the rounds did not originate with them.

According to the Independent, the email informs customers that their account has been cancelled and requests they click on a link and input credit card details in order to reactivate it.

It has been established that the link directs customers to a phishing website, so your enthusiasm to 'reactive' your 'dead' account could cost you your savings.

"Phishing scams are, unfortunately, very common and often exploit well known brands. Internet users should always be cautious when they receive an email request any personal information or credit card details.” said Nicola Watkins, a spokesperson for Netflix.

Customers have been asked to contact Netflix at phishing@netflix.com if they receive an email which raises concern.

Heroes don't always wear capes, you know.

Sometimes they wear umbrella hats, and still there's no denying them as one 16-year-old girl from the States recently reminded us.

After being asked by a male classmate to send him a photo of herself in the shower, Reece Hebert happily obliged, and a star was born.

Rocking a multicoloured umbrella hat, Reece hopped on in, snapped away, sent the pic and then shared the exchange on Twitter.

And unsurprisingly, the Twitosphere is having a field day.

"I laughed way too hard at this," wrote one while another added: "You're hilarious. I don't know you, but I like you,"

"Girl, you are awesome," commented another while someone else predicted: "This gonna blow up."

Reece, take a bow.

Ah… rich kids. There's nothing like them, huh?

From lavish holidays to customised cars that cost more than houses, you'd have to win the lotto to keep up with them.

But now, it looks like an app is giving them inspiration of how to be more flashy… and we just can't deal.

Aptly named Rich Kids, the €1012-a-month app is exclusively for teens and young adults who like to share their purchases and boast about it online.

The photo-sharing app is inspired by the Instagram account of the same name and helps its users "discover and be inspired by the real rich and famous."

VOM.

However, apparently Apple vommed as well because according to The Memo, they banned it for being "inapproprate."

The creators of Rich Kids released a statement saying they weren't breaking any of Apple's rules, but the tech company basically just wanted nothing to do with them.

Now, we all know that a little gloat on Instagram is common practice, but putting up a paywall? Nah, don't think so.

An Irish couple are live-tweeting their trip to Liverpool for an abortion in a bid to highlight the risks they are undertaking “to do the most humane thing possible to a baby that will never survive.”

The couple, who have not been named, took to Twitter to explain that during their first prenatal appointment they were offered a genetic screening test – their firstborn has a genetic condition and there was always the risk that future children would also be effected.

Sadly, following testing, their baby was diagnosed with Edwards syndrome – a condition which means the “period of life would be counted in the minutes and hours after birth”.

“It is a crushing sentence for any person to hear let alone for my wife who has had to give up her career to become a full time carer for our little boy,” they wrote.

“We should be telling our friends and relatives about our joyous news at just over twelve weeks instead we are now past the point of being able to go to a hospital in the UK so we had to make arrangements to visit a clinic [sic].”

Explaining their reasons for tweeting their journey, the couple said that they want to help those who have found themselves in a similar situation and to highlight the risks involved in having to travel abroad at an already traumatic time.

"We hope that this may enlighten those who do not want to listen or even allow the people of this country to decide for themselves.

“Our Government has continually kicked the can down the road and we the people must decide if we can allow this to happen.

"We hope that by documenting our experience [we] may help those that may have been through something similar or may be unfortunate enough to do so in the future.”

What a truly heartbreaking journey this couple are currently undergoing.

The Humans of New York Facebook page is easily one of the most popular on the site, and while it generally gives an insight into the lived experience of anonymous members of society, yesterday it put Barack Obama under the spotlight.

Shortly after Donald Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States, Barack Obama, who spent two terms in the White House, shared a message with the public which was added to the HONY page.

In an incredibly candid account of his rise to power, the father-of-two revealed that constant knockbacks resulted in a loss of confidence and sense of unease about personal goals.

“I first ran for Congress in 1999, and I got beat. I just got whooped. I had been in the state legislature for a long time, I was in the minority party, I wasn’t getting a lot done, and I was away from my family and putting a lot of strain on Michelle." he said.

"Then for me to run and lose that bad, I was thinking maybe this isn’t what I was cut out to do. I was forty years old, and I’d invested a lot of time and effort into something that didn’t seem to be working."

In an attempt to inspire others, Obama shared his method for navigating personal and professional pitfalls, continuing: "But the thing that got me through that moment, and any other time that I’ve felt stuck, is to remind myself that it’s about the work."

"Because if you’re worrying about yourself – if you’re thinking: ‘Am I succeeding? Am I in the right position? Am I being appreciated?’ – then you’re going to end up feeling frustrated and stuck."

"But if you can keep it about the work, you’ll always have a path. There’s always something to be done," Obama finished in a post which has been likes 752,000 times since its upload ten hours ago.

The post has been inundated with support from Facebook users, with one writing: "I will always be proud to have lived during the Presidency of Barack Obama. He was the true progressive and he'll be sorely missed."

"He and Michelle brought so much grace, youth, and intelligence to the White House. They're so *real* too, just genuine, fun-loving people." added another.

Donald Trump will be sworn into the Oval Office in January of next year.

Fans of Gigi Hadid were left stunned last week when iconic fashion designer, Tommy Hilfiger, reportedly suggested that garments worn by the 21-year-old model during a recent show were chosen on account of the fact she wasn't as tall or thin as the other models.

"Our casting director said, 'She doesn't really fit because, you know, she's not quite as tall as the other girls, she's not quite as thin,'" Tom reportedly told Yahoo during about interview on his latest show.

"So they put a red, white and blue poncho on her. It covered a lot of her body unfortunately, but it received millions of hits so I said why don't we ask her to design a line for us."

As media outlets and Gigi's fandom whipped up a storm, Tommy was quick to respond to the controversy in an official statement insisting his comments had been taken out of context.

And while some may assume the designer was simply doing some serious damage control, it sounds like the woman at the centre of the controversy is with him on this one.

Speaking to Access Hollywood in light of last week's story, Kendall's BFF insisted she knew Tommy had nothing but love for her.

"I know that when Tommy said it last week, it was in context of a larger story that wasn't shown," Gigi said.

"Tommy was rooting for me and regardless of what the stylist of that season said or what he put me in, Tommy wanted me in the show, and Tommy was pushing for me and Tommy loved my curves,"

Check it out here.

Like many, many others, Vogue Williams took to social media yesterday to voice her opinion on Donald Trump becoming president elect.

She shared an image of Statue of Liberty holding her hands up to her head, and wrote: "Waking up to the news that Trump is going to President of America is terrifying.

"A misogynistic, racist, unintelligent fool to rule one of the biggest nations in the world, we need to be afraid. Clearly money can buy you anything."

Obviously, everyone has a different opinion and one fan didn't think Vogue was entitled to hers, saying she is just "hopping on the bandwagon."

Vouge quickly hit back, writing: "Bandwagon? You don’t think I know about Clinton? She was the best of a bad bunch which is usually the case in politics, trump is a complete moron at least Hillary would have listened to her advisors and has a brain."

The fan, who has now deleted her comments, wrote back to the model again, to which she replied: "You seem so narrow minded @maebh21 you think because I’m in the public eye I can’t have my own opinion, well I do and that’s it…

“I’m glad you’re so into politics, it may be a surprise to you but so am I, I write political pieces for my column almost weekly so I know what I’m talking about."

Many hopped to Vogue's defence, commenting under the picture, "I totally agree with every word you have said, celebrity or not you have hit the nail on the head."

Another follower said, "Vogue is highly educated. She has a formal education like the rest of us, and "poor vogue , just because you are a model people assume you are stupid."
