No matter what age you were when you read the Harry Potter books, you most likely spent a fair few hours/years fantasising about what would happen if YOU randomly received a letter from Hogwarts.

Imagine the excitement –  no more Business Studies and Geography, and goodbye to the dreaded Irish Oral. Instead you'd have been learning how to transfigure teapots into toads, and eating your lunches in the Great Hall for all of your teenage years.

Happy days… Except that long-awaited letter never did arrive, did it?

If you're still wondering what on earth went wrong, this fan theory might explain things:

After all, if An Post managed to deliver Seamus Finnegan's letter, then surely they'd have been able to find our house too.

Many were looking forward to the start of RTE's new drama, Rebellion, which is based around Ireland getting its independence in 1916. 

But in episode one, which aired last night, many were shocked by the language used by the fair ladies. 

Two of the characters, Frances, played by Ruth Bradley and May, played by Sarah Greene, were heard blindingly swearing about one of them, "f**king an Englishman."

But fear not, because the writer of the show, Colin Teevan, said in a press conference that this was the language the Irish used before we became "Americanised."

He explained while the four-letter word has been used for "the act" for centuries, it wasn't until the 1920s that "f**k off" was used as a phrase. 

So all in all, Colin just wanted to keep the script true to the era, and we're just going to have to get used to all the ladies swearing their heads off.

It's only the first week of January, but Christmas already feels like an oh-so distant memory.

You're back to work, there are no more festive films on the telly, and you've put on half a stone in pure chocolate. Ideal.

They have been broken up for months now, but it seems that things might be taking a turn for the best for Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick. 

The duo were spotted with their six-year-old son, Mason and three-year-old daughter, Penelope, heading to the cinema together for a family day out. 

It's the first appearance the pair have made together this year and it seems that things must be going well for them since one of their many problems was Scott not spending enough time with his kids. 

The pair were separated on New Year's Eve though, with Scott ringing in 2016 at a Las Vegas party and Kourtney celebrating the new year at home with her sister Kim and some friends. 

Kourtney and Scott first broke up in July of last year, when he was clearly partying a little too hard for a father-of-three. 

But, after the 32-year-old completed another stint in rehab, Kourtney has been spending more and more time with him, sparking rumours of a reconciliation.

A former Wexford Tesco worker who was fired from her job because she ate breakfast at the Tesco café has been awarded €41,000.

Lisa Kinsella was fired from Tesco on August 19 2013 after she was seen on CCTV footage eating breakfast, which wasn't immediately paid for on two separate occasions. Three other employees were also dismissed because of the same reason. 

Ms Kinsella was initially acknowledged of her wrong-doing after she was asked to meet with her manager – with just 15 minutes notice. She was then suspended and subsequently dismissed two months later.

But at the tribunal hearing, it was revealed that she had later paid for her meals and it was common practise to do so as employees were not allowed to carry cash or cards on them while they were working. 

When Lisa was first fired, she appealed her dismissal on 16 separate grounds to Tesco HR, but everything was denied. 

Accordingly, the Employment Appeals Tribunal found that the grounds that Lisa was fired under were disproportionate, and she was awarded €41,000 compensation.

Dressed in a red bikini and cradling her bump, Anne Hathaway looked like any other expectant mum as she posed for a smiling holiday snap this morning.

The one difference? She had a gaggle of paparazzi on her tail as she did so.

News of Anne's pregnancy was confirmed back in November, but today the actress acknowledged it publicly for the first time, after noticing a few long-lens cameras following her.

"So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach I noticed I was being photographed," the Les Miserables star wrote on her personal Instagram account.

"I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be one that was taken with my consent. And with a filter :)"

We couldn't agree more – and there's no denying Anne looks downright amazing as she approaches her due date.

This will be the first child for the actress and her husband of three years Adam Shulman. Although it's not officially known when Anne is due, it's thought she's already at least six or seven months along.

Here's hoping she outsmarts the paps by sharing the first snap of her new arrival on social media too.

Ride, score and shift. Three words that sound totally innocent in most parts of the world – but have a very different meaning once you touch down on our tiny island.

One poor US author may have learnt that the hard way after her unfortunately-titled book made it to Irish shelves recently, much to the amusement of some readers.

Lisa Childs is a Michigan based-author working for Mills & Boon, and we reckon she's definitely never used the word "shifter" in the way we have:

You can pick up your copy of Taming The Shifter in Chapters now, according to Redditor Blackcrusader who spotted it this week.

This "shifter" in Lisa's case is actually a warewolf named Warrick James, who appears to be the love interest in the novel. So he's a shape-shifter, who also happens to like… well…. shifting.

Sounds like a very interesting read indeed…

She's known as the UK's sweetheart, but things could have turned out very different for Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

The pop star opened up to Ant and Dec in a one-off ITV documentary, When Ant and Dec Met The Prince: 40 Years of the Prince's Trust. 

Cheryl is featured in the documentary and candidly reveals that she could have turned to drugs or a life of crime if it weren't for the dance academy she attended when she was young.

The X Factor judge said, "If I didn't have [my dancing], and I wasn't lucky enough to come to dance classes or had that discipline instilled in me, I could have gone anywhere.

"I could have been a drug addict, I could have been in prison. Any route could have happened had I not had have this opportunity."

The hitmaker became an ambassador for the Prince's Trust in 2011 and since then she has set up two sister charities that help support disadvantaged kids in her hometown.

OK, so it was rumoured that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were seen "cuddling and kissing" at a music festival in Australia yesterday, but now there seems to be PHOTO evidence of the pair hanging out together again. 

The gorgeous duo were spotted by an eagle eye festival goer, known on Instagram as jlawodair, and in three pictures they are seen having the craic. 

Whether this means they are taking another go at their relationship, we don't know. But one thing's for sure, they have become mega-friendly in the past few months.

Miley helped Liam pick out a new pet (which is totally adorable) and then Liam admitted in an interview with Men's Fitness that he still has feelings for Miley. 

"You fall in love with who you fall in love with; you can never choose," he said. 

We have to admit, they were the cutest couple ever, so we're kinda hoping they're back together for real this time.

After there was a lot of speculation about the new Hermione, Ms Noma Dumezweni, the original Hermione, Emma Watson, has taken to Twitter to voice her thoughts.

And guess what? She's totally into it:

Sharing her excitement about the new cast, Emma tweeted, "Can't wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year," and then followed it with a million hearts. What a cutie pie.

Emma clearly wanted to send a message to the people who doubted that Noma could play the role. And we totally can't wait to see a pic of the two witches together!

We reported yesterday that Chris Brown was accused of punching a woman in a Las Vegas night club, but now it seems the tables have turned as Chris is planning to SUE the accuser.

A source close to Chris told TMZ that the pop star will be filing a lawsuit against Liziane Gutierrez, the woman who claims he punched her in the eye.

Liziane went to the police after Chris allegedly punched her and made a statement for assault. But now, TMZ is reporting that Mr Brown is going to file a defamation suit against her today.

Chris is also said to be trimming down his friends list and won't let anyone who brings "random girls" into his parties anymore. 

It is also claimed that Ms Gutierrez also went after Jason Derulo a while back after he left her on the sidewalk outside a Hollywood nightclub. She told TMZ a week after the party that Jason tried to "get it on" with some ladies at the party, who later left crying.

We're not sure who to believe with this one!

They kept us on our toes all through the Christmas holidays, documenting their time in St Barths together on Instagram.

They even left us wondering their relationship status multiple times with their flirty posts.

But yesterday, Justin shared a photo that definitely confirms they are indeed, an item.

Taking to IG once more, the Biebs posted a pic of him and Hailey sharing a rather romantic kiss. 

The love birds look like they might be in a club somewhere, but one thing's for sure: they're totally into each other. 

And in the year that we all became Beliebers, it's safe to say that we're all a little bit (a lot) jealous of Hailey.
