Yearly Archives: 2016

When you were a kid and watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we bet you wished you could visit it and eat ALL the chocolate, right?

Well, Universal Studios Orlando announced plans today to open a Willy Wonka inspired restaurant and even though it's miles away, we're super excited because, well.. chocolate.

The restaurant will be called The Toothsome Chocolate Factory, and according to the press release, the restaurant will feature "towering smoke stacks, funky gadgetry, and staff wearing unique Steampunk fashion".

And as for the menu? Well, it's no surprise that it'll be flooded with chocolate but also has a few options which include "unique twists on classic steak, seafood and pasta entrees, gourmet burgers, sandwiches, incredible salads, all-day brunch and so much more".

But what really caught our eyes were the milkshakes, because.. LOOK:

The restaurant is set to open "later this year," and we feel like just booking a ticket to Orlando to go to the restaurant. Which we won't – but you know, dreamz

Do you ever find yourself watching your favourite TV show and wonder where they find all of their fab outfits? So do we.

And now there's a new app that can help you do just that. Ever is changing the way you shop, and soon your wardrobe could aspire to be Hanna's from Pretty Little Liars.

It works by linking the app with your TV to get a screenshot of the outfit that's on the screen. Then whenever you see something you like, click the app and you'll receive a few options to purchase the clothes the characters are wearing.

And if you're watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians and like Kourtney's jeans, the app will show you the jeans but loads of other options as well so you don't brake the bank.

Sounds fab, right? But don't get too excited, there's still a few things the app needs to work on.

So far, Ever only works with a limited selection of streaming services and it can't be used with live shows. It's also not hooked up to Netflix yet (which is a bummer because what other streaming services do we use over here?!).

So, while you might not be able to find Olivia Pope's coat just yet – imagine ALL of the possibilities!

Enda Kenny might have been swapping gifts and sprigs of shamrock with Barack Obama yesterday, but another well-known politician was left outside in the cold.

After receiving his "usual invitation" to attend the annual St Patricks Day event at the White House, Gerry Adams was subsequently denied entry at the door.

According to the Irish Times, Adams waited around for 90 minutes while security "examined his passport," but decided to leave when it became clear he wasn't getting in any time soon.

Taking to Twitter this afternoon, Adams posted a picture of the invitation he had received with the caption, "Just saying."

Although he often faces increased security checks when flying due to his connections with the Irish Republican movement, he has previously attended the White House's yearly event without issue.

Sinn Féin's deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald and the North’s deputy first minister Martin McGuinness were reportedly allowed to enter the event without issue.

In a statement today, Adams described his "grave disappointment" at not being permitted to enter the premises.

"I had received my usual invitation to attend the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the White House and was pleased to accept.

"When I arrived the staff at the White House informed me that there was an issue of ‘security’.

"After two decades of travelling back and forth to the USA and countless meetings in the White House with successive US Presidents, this is an unacceptable development."

He also criticised the ongoing scrutiny he – and other Sinn Féin party members – face when travelling to the US.

"Some of our political representatives have been denied access to the USA while others, including myself, have to regularly go through additional searches and scrutiny when we travel to and from the USA."

Ah, Liam. Putting the Irish spirit into all of us.

Na Piarsaigh hurling team are playing against Ruairí Óg Cushendall in Croke Park tomorrow for the All Ireland Club final.

And Ruairí Óg Cushendall has recrutied one very famous man – Liam Neeson.

Apparently Liamo was a bit of a hurler back in the day and even played on the St Patrick's team in Ballymena.

If you want a bit of a junk food binge, then say hello to Twix Spread.

It's safe to say that we try to mix everything together these days; Snickers mixed with cookies, Mars mixed with brownies… But, now Twix has already mixed it all up for us so you can put it on your bread, toast, pancakes, waffles.. you get the picture.

For now it's only available in the UK (crying here) but we're hoping it'll come over to our shores pretty soon.

In fact, the new product, courtesy of parent company Mars Drinks and Treats, isn't the only delicious spread to hit the market over there.

It's created a whole load of spreads based on Milky Way, Mars Bars, Maltesers and Bounty bars – ALL of our favourites.

We just need them here. Now

Life as a journalist means there's generally an inbox full of press releases awaiting your attention, but when one comes in directly from Chelsea Handler, you sit up and take notice.

The US TV and comedy queen launches her own chat show with streaming service Netflix on May 11, and she's being very hands-on about the whole process indeed.

As well as asking fans to suggest possible names for the new show via Twitter, she also knuckled down and wrote her own press release. And when we say wrote, we mean wrote – it's literally a photograph of a piece of paper scrawled on by Chelsea:

Amazing. The release for the show – which will stream every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on Netflix – reads like a letter from Chelsea to herself.

"This is your new show schedule, so if you're thinking about having a baby – DON'T," she writes, before going on to list some key pieces of life advice.

– "I know it's hard for you, but waking up is a great way to start the day."

– "Never give up on your dream guest list: Michelle Obama, The Pope, Arnold Schwarzenegger's maid."

– "Sign up for Netflix."

– "You wanted a new show, you got it. You wanted to be on Netflix, you are. You wanted to spread your wings, now FIX B*TCH."

As for possible names, here are two of our fave suggestions so far:

Roll on May 11 – this looks set to be huge craic altogether.

We'd all be lying if Kate's (seemingly) effortless tresses were not our hair goals for every single day of our lives, because they obviously are.

The Duchess's barnet has become something of a cult phenomenon, so obviously when her hairdresser speaks, you listen.

And we are here to tell you that Kate's official hairdresser, Richard Ward, has just spoken.

"I think the 'gringe' – or the grown-out fringe as it was called at the time – is feminine and pretty, and can break up someone’s face," said Richard to OK! Mag on Kate's favourite way to sport her hair.

"I’m a big fan of fringes for changing someone’s look without doing anything too drastic.

"A side-swept 'gringe' like Kate's is good because it is forgiving and easy to grow out if the woman who has it isn’t a fan."

Richard did admit that if we wanted the flawless waves of her royal highness, we'd wanna be prepared to shell out.

"If you’re after expensive-looking hair like Kate’s, the key is the blow dry. You’re never going to get rich girl hair without a good blow dry.

"The products are important, but having hair that is in good nick, thanks to regular trims, treatment, and a decent hairdryer is the secret to making it look fabulous."

Okay, so he may have dashed our dreams of rocking Kate's effortless waves everyday, but he did give some tips on trying out her blow-dry style at home:

Step 1 Spray a volumising hairspray through your roots, put a smoothing cream on the ends and dry your hair until it's 80 per cent dry.

Step 2 Wrap 2 inch sections of hair around your brush adding the heat of the hairdryer and press the cool button to set the style in place.

Step 3 Take the brush out of the hair and wrap the hair around your finger and clip for longer lasting hold.

Step 4 For the final step, take the clips out and brush through your hair for an effortless Kate Middleton look.

Now go forth and conquer those tresses.

Ever have those moments when you're scrolling through Instagram and you see a pic from your friend's account so you go onto their page and realise you haven't seen the last ten snaps they've posted?

Yep, us too. It's super annoying. But, according to Instagram, we all miss about 70 percent of what's in our feeds everyday.

So, it has decided to change a few things around which means your IG is going to look a bit different soon.

The photo-sharing app announced that it is going to fix this problem over the next few months by introducing an algorithm-based feed.

This means it will place the photos and videos they think you'll like first so you'll never miss a thing. Sounds good, right? But we're a little suspicious.

The concept behind this means that if you haven't been on the app in a few hours and your BFF shares a photo of their dog, you won't have to scroll back five thousand years to see it. It'll be at the top of your feed.

BUT what if Kim Kardashian shares another nude selfie? The algorithm change could possibly favour the already popular IG accounts and leave us normal beings in the dark with our ten likes.

I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

While we're so happy this little pup has been given a happy ending, she literally had to go through hell to get there.

Chi Chi landed in Arizona yesterday to be united with her new forever home and thankfully has a happy, normal life to look forward to.

The Labrador pup was bred in South Korea for human consumption (yes, to EAT) as dog meat is considered a delicacy in certain parts of the world.

And according to ARME, the shelter that found Chi Chi and rehabilitated her, her story is a truly horrific one. (And we mean truly so you may wanna skip over this next bit if you are sensitive to animal cruetly).

A spokesperson for ARME revealed that the gorgeous pooch was kept in horrendous conditions as she was prepared for the meat trade.

"During this time her flesh was believed to become more tender, by binding her legs together and hanging her upside down while being tortured day in and day out. All this was done in darkness. She was beaten and felt nothing but extreme pain and terror.

"She was hung by her legs for so long and so tight that the binding starting entering her flesh. Her legs became so badly infected that her flesh rotted off her bones.

At which she was no longer of use as 'meat,' because her 'meat' had been rotting, and therefore she was thrown away in a trash bag and left to die."

It was then that the pup was found and treated though a vet had to remove her paws as they were so severely damaged.

Thankfully that's where Chi Chi's old life ended and her new, and happier one begins.

The dogs Facebook page saw thousands of donations and words of support allowing her to find her way to her new forever home. And we couldn't be happier for her.

Watch her incredible story below (but maybe find somewhere where you can cry in solitude first):

Let's face it, there's a lot of feelings when it comes to weddings. Some love them, some hate and some just go for the free food.

And just because it's your wedding day doesn't mean that everyone invited is suddenly going to jump for joy because you're getting married.

Most wedding invites come with a standard 'I accept with pleasure/decline with regret' formula, but these newlyweds-to-be decided to be totally honest – and we're just wondering if their invited guests were as truthful as they were.

Here's the invite below:

Yep, it's a lengthy one. But it hits every possible feeling about weddings that there is.

Would you be happy if this invite arrived in your door? Would you tell the honest truth or tell a little fib as to not upset the bride.

It sure is a witty one, but we're loving how humorous it is.

Well, it seems like Scotty T is sick of Steph and Jeremy's drama.

The Geordie Shore star has disowned the couple, saying that they've "gone off the rails" and Stephanie is a "liar."

While talking to BANG, Scott admitted that he'll stay friends with a few of the housemates – but Jephanie haven't made the cut.

"I don't want to be friends with them because I feel as if they have gone off the rails. I mean Jeremy, when he left Big Brother, apparently he said some things about me. He was like 'Scott's been getting with Megan [McKenna] but he's got a girlfriend.

"But, she's not my girlfriend, it's just a girl I've been meeting. Then apparently he had a presenting job [Xpose] and he missed it," he told the website.

"Steph just does my head in because she's a liar. When she came in she was like, 'I've got a boyfriend. I want to marry him. I love him, I love him.'

"Then she pulled Jeremy she said: 'My boyfriend's done so many bad things to me' using that as an excuse because she got with Jeremy."

Even though Scotty and Jeremy were close in the BB house, Scott wants to keep his distance from the wild model.

"I just think Jeremy is not doing himself any favours, and I don't really want to associate myself with that because I can get out of that.

"Last year I was out loose going out every day but I'm in work mode so trying to keep myself to myself."

We think Scotty is making the right choice.
