The Christmas lights are up and Tesco is rammed with selection boxes. To us, that means one thing – it's time to start shopping for a Christmas jumper.

We have the same dilemma every year… should we go all out-with a novelty jumper featuring bells and tinsel or keep it chic with an understated but stylish festive knit?

Luckily, it is possible to find a balance somewhere in the middle, especially on the high street. Here are a few Christmas looks we're coveting this season…

When you're a teenager, the idea of even being seen in public with your parents is embarrassing enough, never mind having to watch them on a cinema screen.

Doing a sex scene.

With an actor you *kinda* fancy.

That's the reality for poor Mia Honey Threapleton though, as her mum just so happens to be A-list actress Kate Winslet.

The English star admits her 15-year-old daughter was a bit taken aback to find out that there was a raunchy scene with Liam Hemsworth in the script for her latest film.

"When I told my daughter that I was shooting the scene that day she spluttered," Kate said of her time on the set of The Dressmaker alongside Aussie heartthrob Liam.

"I took it to be jealousy."

That's definitely one way to put it…

It turns out Mia wasn't the only one red-faced by the idea of a sex scene with the Hunger Games star, though, as Kate admits she found it hard to focus too.

"I did feel quite bad for Liam," she confessed to BBC's The One Show this week. 

"He’s a sweet guy but I couldn’t stop giggling."

Despite her embarassment, Mia already has aspirations to follow in her famous mum's footsteps, with Kate revealing that acting and film is a common dinner table topic for her family.

"There's a lot of positivity around it in our house," Kate said, on the subject of acting.

"What I really enjoy is that she's [Mia's] grown up not just watching me do it, but also learning how to respect it and that's what's nice for me."

Give it five years and maybe Mia will be the one setting up for a steamy scene with Liam…

Since Friends launched on Netflix at the start of this year, eagle-eyed viewers in the US have been picking up on a few mistakes that went unnoticed until now.

Some of them, like the 'Reserved' sign at the Central Perk, have cleared up things we've long wondered about – how DID the gang always get the same table without having to fight off other coffee lovers?

But other "mistakes," like this one discovered by entertainment site Recently Heard, have totally weirded us out.

Season 9, Episode 15 (The One With The Mugging) might seem perfectly normal, until you spot one GLARING error. Here's Joey and Rachel, standing casually in Monica's apartment:

The camera cuts away to Monica, then it goes back to Joey and Ra- OH WAIT:

Before you go writing to NBC to complain though, there is a very rational explanation for this impostor. Back in the days of the show's original release, when the series were only available to buy on VHS, most TVs used a 4:3 aspect ratio.

With the dawn of widescreen, we now view our shows from a wider angle, meaning we get to see a few extra centimetres on either side of the screen that would previously have been hidden. 

The result? All those stand-ins that were used when Jennifer, Courteney and the gang were busy getting their make-up done or chilling in their trailers are now VERY clearly visible.

Here's another example, this time of a Monica who is most definitely NOT Monica.

We're questioning everything we thought was real life.

Gwyneth Paltrow often been the subject of some ridicule for her lifestyle website Goop.

It does, after all, feature everything from "advice" on vagina facials to a guide on how to yawn correctly. 

The actress doesn't seem too bothered by the press though, and continues to share ever-more bizarre content, including her annual Christmas gift guide which came out yesterday.

Gwynnie's Ridiculous (And Awesome) Gifts guide supposedly features "a little ridiculous for every budget" rather than just "crazy extravagances," but we beg to differ.

They've been engaged since July and appear to be as smitten as ever… but even Jesy Nelson and Jake Roche aren't immune to the odd lover's tiff.

Jesy's night ended in tears on Wednesday after a bust-up with her fiancée at Litlle Mix's album launch party.

The foursome had gathered with friends and fellow stars at Kensington's Bodo's Schloss nightclub to celebrate the new record, but according to one source, Jesy and Jake had a "tispy" argument mid-way into the evening.

Jesy was pictured looking distraught as she climbed into a cab, while Jake left separately shortly after. According to one source, the party antics simply got out of hand for the engaged couple.

"The girls had been having a great night, dancing on the tables while bottles of vodka and Rick Ross champagne were flowing," a source told The Mirror.

"But then in the early hours, Jesy and Jake had a tiff. Jake stomped off to a nearby hotel and Jesy was clearly sobbing as she took a cab home."

All seemed to be well twelve hours later though, as Jesy made sure to post a selfie of her and Jake from bed, looking as happy as ever.

Jake seemed grateful to be back in his fiancée's good books, taking to his own Instagram page to thank her for looking after him.

"Had possibly the worst hangover today. One of them where you want to hospitalise yourself and get put on a drip," he wrote.

"But Miss Nelson fed me, hydrated me, sang me little mix songs when I was vomiting (last bit was a lie). The world is a better place with you in it, genuinely."

When it came to finally getting the job of her dreams, model Gigi Hadid definitely had to put in the hard work.

The 20-year-old made her debut walking the runway at the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York City on Tuesday. 

He rmom Yolanda Foster, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and former model herself, told E! News her daughter auditioned twice before finally landing the gig that she had always wanted.

The emotional moment Gigi found out she would be walking in the show took over social media last week.

"I still get emotional thinking about it. I've seen it 100 times and every time I see it, I start crying because I know it is something that she wanted so much and she worked so hard to get," Yolanda said of the video. 

"She's only 20 years old. She tried out twice and didn't get it and to get it the third time, it was just so special."

Gigi had already starred in a campaign for Victoria's Secret but it was her dream to walk the runway. Also earlier this year, she made headlines over her comments about body image. In August, she told The Daily Mail Australia that she did not want to be like "two pounds soaking wet."

Her mom shared a moving messages in support of her model daughter after the show:

"Hard work does pay off and dreams do come true……#ProofIsInThePudding," she captioned her snap.

Gigi’s mom has also made her struggle with chronic Lyme disease known. The disease  causes major fatigue and has occasionally landed her in the hospital.

"I'm getting better," she told E! News, explaining that despite her exhaustion she wanted to support her daughter at the event. 

"I'm probably about 60 percent but still spending most of my days in bed and resting."

If you thought that your childhood birthday presents were the business, then you might want to look away now. 

A Hong Kong businessman just dropped a record-breaking €45 million on a rare, 12.03-carat blue diamond for his 7-year-old daughter. 

That price tag — which is the highest ever for a diamond or gem sold at auction — breaks down to a record-breaking €3.7 million-plus per carat, according to Sotheby's, the auction house behind the sale. So basically, each carat of this blue beauty is worth almost 1,000 times the average amount spent on engagement rings around the world. 

The "Blue Moon diamond" was found in a South African mine. It has been graded the highest possible color quality for blue diamonds and deemed internally flawless by the Gemological Institute of America.

This bad boy was up for grabs as part of Sotheby's major jewelry sale in Geneva this week. A definite date in the diary for any jewelry aficionados who have some extra pennies lying around. 

The diamond's name comes from the phrase 'once in a blue moon'- but of course. 

"This show-stopping blue diamond surely is a once-in-a-lifetime stone," said David Bennett, Sotheby’s worldwide chairman of jewelry, in a statement. 

Sotheby's only identified the buyer as a private collector from Hong Kong. But The Guardian and many other media outlets have confirmed that it was purchased by billionaire Joseph Lau. 

Now named "The Blue Moon of Josephine," this giant rock isn't the first rare find Lau has gifted young Josephine. Just one day earlier, he reportedly dropped $28.5 million on a pink stone for her that he dubbed "Sweet Josephine."

The cucumber. It's a respected resident of sandwiches, gin and tonics and body moisturisers, but that could change very soon as the humble vegetable is on the brink of extinction. 

The Cucumber Growers Association have reported that there are now fewer than 100 hectares of land dedicated to growing cucumbers, with many farmers either retiring or moving onto more lucrative crops. 

And with major supermarkets like Tesco, Aldi and Lidl slashing their prices (because of cheaper imports from the Netherlands), there is a genuine fear that the veg will disappear. 

The CGA and various farmers unions from Ireland and the UK have reported that there is little incentive to grow the crop anymore. 

"Nobody in the supply chain is making anything from the production and sale of cucumbers. Without an increase in returns the cucumber industry won't be endangered – it will be extinct," said Joe Cappalonga, who heads fruit and vegetable wholesale for G&C Produce.

The dark lip trend is one that we don’t see disappearing any time soon. Which is completely fine for anyone who calls themselves a fan.

For every pretty pink or creamy nude out there, there’s going to be even more vampy shades to choose from. There is something so very glam about the dark lip look.
