Just when you think the beauty industry can't get any weirder, people start getting permanent nail art.

It has come to my attention that nail tattoos have been growing in popularity, and I'm intrigued.

My first thought? 'Jesus, that sounds like one painful procedure!'

However, according to Christian Boyd, a tattoo artist, the process of nail tattooing is actually completely painless.

The tattoo needle doesn’t actually pierce the nail or touch the skin, it only skims the surface – hence the lack of pain.

And while the ink is technically permanent, your nails are not.

The tattoo will simply grow out with your nail, and then you can start all over again with a new design.

“Knowing that you have this permanent thing that’s not actually permanent—it’s a little bit of a safety zone,” Boyd said to Vogue recently.

And while I may have been a bit unsure at first, I am now totally convinced by this groovy new beauty trend (and I desperately want to give it a go).

If you find yourself in NYC in the coming months, you can visit the Needle Nails shop in the East Village and give it a whirl.

Just take a look at these amazing nail designs, and try not to fall in love.

Kim Kardashian is no stranger to weird and wacky beauty trends.

From non-surgical tummy tucks to vampire facials, the reality star has helped put many procedures on the map – but we're going to go out on a limb and say that this latest treatment is the most bizarre yet.

On Sunday, Kim shared a video with her Snapchat followers that showed her getting a 'firming and tightening' facial.

Now, on first thought this sounds like a luxury soothing spa treatment, but oh no, that could not be farther from the truth.

Complete with robotic-like headgear, that wouldn't look out of place in a futuristic science fiction film, the star documented the entire process from start to finish.

What started as a rejuvenating beauty treatment, ended with what looks like some sort of facial clamp and a lot of probing around the chin area.

We're not sure that we're entirely convinced by this one, but hey, if it's good enough for Kim…

From tinsel lashes to Christmas tree brows, it's safe to say that this year's festive beauty game is the most extravagant yet.

Sure, they're not your everyday looks, but if you can't pll out all the stops at Christmas time, when can you?

And the latest festive beauty trend might just be our favourite yet.

Sequin lips are this year's most dazzling, albeit impractical, makeup look taking Instagram my storm.

Made in a collaboration with Buzzfeed, Vlada Haggerty created the look using liquid lipstick from Jeffree Star Cosmetics as well as hundreds on tiny sequins in various colours.

And while we are mildly concerned about the possible choking hazard, these larger than life sequin-themed looks are incredibly impressive.

Take a look for yourself.

Some blogger even put their own spin on the bizarre look.

We all have the same fear: going to hair dresser for a trim and leaving virtually BALD.

This should no longer concern you ladies, because there is a way to be rid of those horrid split ends, while maintaining your lengthy locks.

Hair dusting is a new Internet sensation, and it is absolutely excellent.

The process is achieved by snipping the very bottom of each hair strand, which removes damaged split ends, without chopping inches off your hair.

However, while this technique is fabulous, it's also extremely time consuming… which is why it is not widely practised.

We would definitely spend a couple of hours getting a trim, if it meant we could keep our length.

Despite the fact that it’s baltic outside, we are already mentally preparing for summer!

When we think about summer beauty and makeup, we always think of a fresh and dewy glow… and nothing too heavy.

Jenny Brough Photography | Celebrity | Fashion | Beauty | Flowers - BEAUTY:

That is why we are happy to introduce you to face glossing, which is set to be the biggest summer beauty trend this year.

Face glossing is a look that we saw on the runway last year, and also on Kylie Jenner (so it must be good!).

This wonderful beauty trend is considered a form of highlighting, when you apply clear face gloss to your temples, cheekbones, cupid’s bow, and eyelids.

Love a good greasy eyelid look. #facegloss #milkmakeup

However, it can also be used in place of an eyeshadow, just like King Kylie.

Whatever way you choose to apply your gloss, we guarantee you’ll love it.

Just when you thought beauty could not get any weirder, fake freckles arrive.

However, these are not the run-of-the-mill, sun-kissed freckles we all adore… they're glittery (of course!)

Yep, people are currently going mad for glitter freckles… and we cannot deny that they do look kind of cool.

Now, we are not suggesting you rock up to work on a Monday morning donning glittery freckles, but maybe on holidays… or at a music festival?

Fashion Week is like the bible of trends. Anything you see on the catwalk is sure to make its way into the mainstream pretty soon.

And while we can't all bow down to the bible of trends, this years beauty movements are super sassy and oh-so-chic.

Here, we dive into the biggest beauty trends captured from New York Fashion Week. You'll be donning these in no time:

Sassy Nails

Nails have never gone so far before. The Libertine's catwalk show completely decked out their models' claws in kick-ass designs.

CND designed the mega eye-catching collection and we're loving how out-of-the-box they are. The CND design team used Shellac 14 day nail colour and Vinylux weekly polish to hit the sassy nail trend.

Loud Lippy

Victoria Beckham's runway showed rocked the bold lip trend. She went for super soft foundation and eyes, yet the loud lip brought major style to the catwalk.

We're loving this deep red the models are donning.

Metallic Eyes

A big trend at Tommy Hilfiger's show was metallic eyes. Hues of silver and gold were lightly painted on to the model's eye, leaving the rest of the face clean and fresh.

Whether you're dressed up or dressed down, a bit of glitter on the eyelids will totally set you alight.

So, this may have just solved all of our problems when it comes to expensive shampoos and conditioners. One woman went on mission and appears to have come to the conclusion that we don’t need fancy products after all- just some dirt.

Mud—and the clay in it—is one of the oldest beauty ingredients in existence.

The ingredient has often been used in clay and mud masks for both hair and skin. People adore the ingredient as it absorbs excess oils and can deep-clean your pores.

What happens if you wash your oil-prone hair with muck? According to Allure, amazing things.

The mud-based shampoo Shea Terra Organics Moroccan Mud-Poo (yes, poo, not an unfortunate typo) has been around for a while. The latest in mud products comes in powder form and requires you to ix the powder and water together to make a “muddy slurry” concoction.

Then it is ready to be used like any other shampoo, except that instead of the usual floral scent mud shampoo has a mintier aroma. Good to know.

Cosmetic chemist Randy Schueller explains: "Clay can absorb oil and help clean your scalp, and it contains tea tree oil, which does have some antifungal and antibacterial properties."

This is why mud shampoo leaves hair feeling clean and will allow you to go for three days without washing your hair. Just think of all of the time you can spend not getting up early to wash your hair on weekdays with this wonder product.

However, Renee Jacques did note one issue with the mud shamppo:

“I do have one caveat about the mud-poo: It can be drying, so make sure you use a good amount of conditioner on the ends of your hair after using it. If you have dry hair, Shea Terra Organic's website suggests dropping a few squeezes of hair oil into your slurry before applying it.”

She said that she will definitely be trying mud shampoo again in the future and considers it something of a must-have beauty product.

Who wouldn’t love the opportunity for sun-kissed skin all year round? For most people, that healthy just back from the Caribbean glow also comes with freckles.

So, it was only a matter of time before someone came up with a product that allows you to bask in that sun soaked healthy feeling without actually having to be in the sun.

Great news, because the storms just don’t seem to stop rolling these days. The beauty brand Freck Yourself thinks freckles are sexy and we should all embrace the look.

"We want to give people the option to have freckles forever, but not forever to the point that they get them tattooed," says founder Remi Brixton to Mashable

So, she created a semi-permanent freckle stencil that lasts for 48 hours.

The freckle kit includes 72 self-adhesive stencils and a rollerball formula similar to sunless tanner. The adhesive sticker features tiny puncture holes smaller than a 1/16 of an inch.

The formula seeps through the holes when the stencil is removed, and you have then defied your own genetics, because why not?

“Users who apply Freck Yourself every morning have several layers of faded frecks, which produces incredibly realistic results for four to six weeks,” according to the Kickstarter page for the product.

Trial users have said that their temporary freckles have left them felling “fresh faced” and “youthful”.

What ever will they think of next?

The dark lip trend is one that we don’t see disappearing any time soon. Which is completely fine for anyone who calls themselves a fan.

For every pretty pink or creamy nude out there, there’s going to be even more vampy shades to choose from. There is something so very glam about the dark lip look.

However, a statement bold lip also comes with some less then appealing flawless side effects.

1. Straws are very necessary:

Well, you can do without them. But then you'll end up with an unintentional ombré effect. Also, no one really wants to leave the Granny-esque kiss marks on every single glass in existence.

2. Falling asleep in makeup means waking up with a red polka dot pillowcase.

Just another item to add to the washing pile.

3. You have to exfoliate your lips. Every. Single. Night.

If you’re constantly wearing highly pigmented lipstick then you're probably familiar with the old toothbrush and lip balm exfoliating trick.

4. The accidental over line:

However, Kylie Jenner has made this a non-problem, the oversized out is pretty much a beauty phenomenon.

5. Attempting to rock a cute and tiny clutch is never an option:

You need your lip liner, lipstick and a compact. Who needs keys these days anyway?

6. If you don't wear it one day, everyone notices:

“You look a bit different today, am I right?” This is because they're so used to you looking like a boss with your amazing lipstick.

Yes, in the world of beauty trends, hair tattoos now exist.

Of course they're only temporary but Kylie Jenner has already donned the major trend (because what is she if not an early adopter of all things hair and beauty?).

The tattoo appliqués apparently work as well on your hair as they do on your skin – assuming your hair is squeaky clean, silky-smooth and completely flat when sticking them on.

They also wash off as soon as you hit the shower.

Even though SHEmazing! loves a good beauty trend, we doubt this one would last in Ireland. One step out the door and the rain will wash it all away (sob).

We can only hope for a more permanent fixture now… or not.
