Residents in the French capital are being urged to stay indoors in the aftermath of multiple shootings that has left, according to local media, some 60 people dead and dozens injured.

Shockingly, up to 100 people are also currently being held hostage.

Police in Paris have said that the gunmen were armed with automatic rifles and grenades when they attacked a shopping mall, a restaurant, a nightclub and a theatre in highly-organised, coordinated attacks.

Reports from the scene say that anything from 60 to 100 hostages are currently being held by two gunmen at Le Bataclan concert hall. The attackers are said to be in possession of a significant amount of explosives.

Three grenade explosions have furthermore taken place at the Stade du France while the upmarket Les Halles shopping mall has also been attacked.

Eyewitness Ben Grant told the BBC he was in a bar with his wife when he heard gunshots being fired. He added that he saw a least half a dozen bodies on the ground.

"I was told people in cars had opened fire on the bar," he explained. "There are lots of dead people. It's pretty horrific to be honest."

He added: "I heard gunshots. People dropped to the ground. We put a table over our heads to protect us.

The first incident seemingly occurred at the popular Le Petit Cambodge restaurant on trendy Rue Bichat in the 10th arrondissement – incidentally close to where the Charlie Hebdo shootings occurred in January.

Numerous emergency services are currently at that scene.

A second shooting was then reported just minutes later at a nightclub in the area, Le Bataclan.

The national soccer team had been hosting Germany in a friendly soccer match at Stade du France when three explosions took place outside the stadium. There are as yet no reports of casualties from those attacks.

The exact motive of the shootings is still unknown, but witness at the nightclub told France Info radio that the men he saw opening fire and shouted: "Allah Akbar". He reported: "The men came in and started shooting. Everyone fell to the ground. It was hell."

In January in Paris, a series of attacks that began at the Charlie Hebdo offices saw 17 people lose their lives.

US president Barack Obama this evening called the killings an attack "upon humanity".

French president Francois Hollande, who had been watching the France Vs Germany game, is holding an emergency sitting of his parliament at midnight Paris time.

Declaring a state of emergency as the French army is mobilised, he also said in a statement this evening that France's borders are being closed in response.

Well, what are the chances of something like this happening of a Friday?

Actually, considering that there are not that many dedicated supporters on location in Zenica this evening, the odds of spotting your dad in the crowd on the telly is decidedly more likely.

Which is exactly why William Murphy’s dad is going to have some serious explaining to do when he arrives home.

Yesterday, William realised that he hadn’t seen his dad for the entire day. Naturally, he was beginning to feel a bit unsettled by the notion.

However, he need not have worried because once he turned on the on the nine o’clock news on RTÉ his questions were answered.

There’s dad! Right there on the streets of Zenica in his very fetching green jersey. He is quickly being branded a hero by social media users for his dedication to the sporting cause.

In case you were wondering, Zenica is 2,752.9 kilometres away. So, you know, a handy detour on your way back from picking up a few messages.

Fair play to him, but now we’re dying to know how he explains himself when he gets home.

Breaking news! It turns out that even Adele is not immune to a good bout of bawling whenever she hears her own music.

In fact, Adele is very  aware that her music makes you cry, and is revealing that she uses herself as the test subject to determine whether or not a song is good enough to be tear-inducing.

In her latest interview with The New York Times, Adele said that she knows she's got a good tune on her hands when she feels herself start to well up.

"In order for me to feel confident with one of my songs it has to really move me," she explained. "That's how I know that I've written a good song for myself — it's when I start crying. It's when I just break out in [expletive] tears in the vocal booth or in the studio, and I'll need a moment to myself."

So when you hear Hello and start sobbing over the missed romantic opportunity with that random guy on the bus that you briefly made eye contact with 2007, you're exactly the kind of audience that Adele is working to reach. She really knows what gets to us all.

Prior to the release of her latest tear-jerker, Adele worried that she'd waited too long to release another album. She explained that she didn't see much buzz about the teaser that played during The X Factor — she only saw three tweets. "I was like, 'Oh, no, I've missed my window.”

"'Oh, no, it's too late. The comeback's gone. No one cares.'" Her boyfriend then showed her that the tweets actually numbered in the thousands, with good reason.

Hello seems to have been played nonstop since the release, and the amount of memes that is has inspired have surely broken some sort of internet record.

Hello sold more than a million downloads in a week and is poised to become the biggest song of 2015.  So, Adele is clearly content with her in-studio testing process of crying her eyes out.

Winter is the best time of the year to invest in some great footwear so we were delighted to hear our fave Irish comic queen has returned with another shoe collection for us to drool over.

The ever stylish Hubes posted a pic to her instagram yesterday from her latest campaign with Bourbon footwear. Her fifth collection with the footwear retailer features a wide range of styles and colours from metallic pointed heels to suede charcoal grey boots.

Speaking to Xpose, Amy picks the delectable ‘Forever Young’ grey suede high heeled boot as her favourite from the collection, calling it her ultimate “dressy shoe boot.” Available from just €119.99, these boots are perfect to get you through the party season.

Amy has revealed that her different shoe types are named after some of her favourite films. For example, the Bullitt is named after a 1968 film by Steve McQueen. Cute! There is also the ‘Atonement’ (a peep-toe heel), the ‘Fame’ (a sparkly ankle boot) and the ‘Grease’ (a biker boot of course!).

The 'Sixteen Candles' in Blush €99.99
The 'Grease' Biker Boot in Noir €129.99,
The 'Singing in the Rain' boot in Couch €129.99
The 'Working Girl' Flat in Pewter €99.99

Lucky for us all the collection is already available to peruse online, but make sure you are quick because certain styles are already selling out.

We are counting down the days to payday!

Planning a wedding? You have to think about the invites, the cake, the venue, the band, the food, the photographer, the church and countless other things but for most brides finding the perfect wedding dress sits firmly at the top of that never-ending list.

Shopping for the perfect dress is pretty much a wedding rite of passage. You gather your mammy and your trusted bridesmaids to sip champagne and try to find the perfect gown before heading out for a boozy brunch. And we all know that we may just HAVE to repeat the process… numerous times.

But what if you would prefer to have the dress dilemma sorted in the click of a button and for just couple of hundred euro…

Well ASOS has the now given you that option. The trusted online retail giant has announced the launch of it's first line of bridal gowns. Notoriously ahead of the fashion curve, ASOS is aiming to sell designer looking gowns for a fraction of the price.

Due to be available online from April 2016, official prices have not ye been released but according to Who What Wear all the dresses will cost less than €400! Now THAT is a bargain.

The styles range from more traditional silhouettes (lacy long sleeves, a-lines and trumpet styles) to more modern looks (short cocktail style dresses and Grecian goddess style numbers). And with a price tag that will leave a lot of spare cash in the big day budget, these dresses are definitely winning us over.

We can't wait to get a peek at the full range but for now, just need to find a husband…

We may have been having some unseasonably warmer weather these past few months, but this week winter has well and truly arrived. Apart from some casual SNOW showers across the country today, good aul Storm Abigail also delighted us with winds of up to 120km/h.

Oh and then there was the rain.

But lucky for us we always have a trusty umbrella on hand to shield us from this ungodly weather, right? WRONG. If you are one of the many people having to give up on umbrellas this week then you are definitely not alone. Join us as we recount the stages of our daily battle with that unreliable but mandatory life item, the umbrella…

Optimism

Clearly the reason all our umbrellas fail us is because we refuse to spend more than a fiver on them. Well, lesson learned. Spending €30 on a proper umbrella will solve all of our winter weather woes because surely an umbrella at that price is indestructible. Surely.

Incredulity

Evelyn on RTE says that the weather is going to be horrific, but it can’t be that bad. She is always a bit dramatic anyway. It will be fine, I have a coat for warmth and an umbrella to keep me dry. I am SO prepared.

Fear

Mmm. It does actually look pretty miserable out there

Rage

Okay, this is BAD. The brolly is now inside out and the people in that car are LAUGHING at me. WHY UMBRELLA, WHY.

Denial

It’s fine. The umbrella is fine. It is a bit misshapen and it looks like I am holding half a plastic bag over my head, but my hair is still kind of dry… kind of.

Despair

The only thing worse than being out in a storm with a flimsy umbrella, is being out in a storm without one. I should have know that it was going to fail me, I should have known.

Acceptance

There is no umbrella in the world that could withstand that weather, but I had better buy another one just in case.

Yes, we already know that model of the moment Gigi Hadid looks pretty much flawless wearing next to nothing.

However, there is a good reason that we’re also very invested in the star’s style when she’s not modelling Victoria’s finest secrets. After making her long awaited debut for the lingerie brand this week Gigi was back to bundling up.

Her latest winter outfit is giving us major style envy because it was effortless and also bang on trend same time. There’s a grand total of four pieces visible (including accessories), and we want them ALL.

Everything Gigi wore was sleek and statement making, there’s a reason she’s considering one of the best-dressed celebs these days.

The piece that we cannot peel our eyes from is her showstopper of a winter coat. The Kempner design wraps all the way around the body, which makes it super comfortable and warm, but also very flattering.

The furry collar added that extra bit of coziness, while still looking terribly chic. Gigi paired the long coat with over-the-knee Stuart Wetizman boots.

Her accessories included her favourite Karen Walker Deep Worship sunglasses and Rag & Bone's circle bag.

We’re not at all jealous. Especially because we discovered Asos have a very furry coat of a similarly stylish nature for a fraction of the designer cost. Win!

Hurrah! Now we can all be as trendy as the famous model, success.

Ryan Seacrest is probably the most employable person in Hollywood.

In case you were not aware he’s the producer of American Idol and Keeping Up with the Kardashians, hosts a daily radio show, hosts American Idol and collaborates with Macy’s on his own menswear line, Ryan Seacrest Distinction

Now he is adding another gig to his already mile long CV. The television personality has announced he’s teaming up with celebrity skin expert Dr. Howard Lancer to launch a men’s grooming line in 2016.

The doctor is Ryan’s long-time dermatologist. The pair have come together to produce a line of products that are designed specifically for men.

“Ryan has been a patient and friend for a long time,” Lancer told Allure. “He’s always been interested in skincare, and while we’ve talked about this partnership for a while, now is the right time.”

Ryan is not the only Hollywood A-Lister to launch such a line. Rob Lowe, a seemingly age-defying human being, has just launched his new skincare line, Profile

“I’ve sent it out to all my bros and the response has been great,” he told People magazine.

“Zac Efron is a big fan of the cleanser. It’s very early — I’m sure I’ll be getting more feedback. But it’s pretty much as I hoped. People are digging it.”

Well, if Rob’s line already as Zac’s blessing then we reckon Ryan is going to be facing some serious competition.

Fifty Shades of Grey is coming back. Hurrah for all of the fans who just cannot get enough of the series.

However, this time around, the filmmakers are doing something new when it comes to the production of the film. Variety reports Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed will be filmed back-to-back, starting in 2016.

This essentially means that fans have a definite release date and won't be left in the dark for much longer.

The film also has a brand new director, James Foley, taking over from Sam Taylor-Johnson who departed the franchise in March. So that really put an end to any hopes that her husband Aaron would be making an appearance.

Truly, a heart-breaking thought.

Despite any rumours to the contrary, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are back. Oh yes, the two actors will return and pick up where they left off. In case you forgot that involves a lot of shirtless toast eating and lots of questionable flirting while travelling in expensive aircrafts.

A very short teaser for Fifty Shades Darker has been released. However,  it's really not much more than Jamie putting on a masquerade mask, because why not?

Both of the films have been given release dates too. So you can start planning your entire world around the days they movies come out. Fifty Shades Darker is said to arrive in cinemas 10 February, 2017, followed by Fifty Shades Freed one year later.

But what about the newest book in the series you cry?

It would seem filmmakers have not yet deemed the world ready for a cinematic insight into Christian Grey’s mind. How unfortunate for everyone.

Oh come on, everyone wanted to see an attempt at this on the big screen, didn’t they?

If you’re one of the unlucky people who is a long-term sufferer of migraines or headaches then we have some good news for you.

If you’re also a lover of piercings then this news is going to make you even happier. The internet has recently been full of claims surrounding a certain piercing and the positive affects it has for headache sufferers.

A daith piercing (a piercing that passes through the ear’s innermost cartilage fold) is being claimed as the cure for those who suffer with migraines and headaches.

This is pretty great news for those that do suffer, considering that it could mean they would no longer be relying on expensive painkillers. A long term cure could cost just €25.

A photo posted by IPRICKU (@ipricku) on

It sounds almost too good to be true. However, many people who have had the piercing are using social media to support the claims that the piercing really does work.

It hasn’t been confirmed as of yet whether the piercing is a real cure for migraines and headaches. One doctor wrote a blog post addressing the issue and noted:

“If a person enjoys ear piercing and suffers from frequent headaches, it may be worthwhile to consider getting this spot pierced.Since body piercings are generally less than $100, this may be a very economical treatment alternative.”

The theory behind the daith piercing being a cure for headaches is based on the idea that it is the same pressure point acupuncturists will target to relieve headaches.

The Migraine Relief Center recognises the link between ‘daith’ piercings and easing migraine symptoms.

“The principle is that the piercing mimics acupuncture by hitting a pressure point, which relieves the pressure in the patient’s head,” the website states.

“By having it done on the same side as most migraines occur, it’s thought to help reduce the incidence of migraines in the area.”

Kelsey and Mia are two girls who know exactly what they want for Christmas this year.

The BFFs (although that status is up for debate right now), will appear on TV3’s Toy Show and in a preview of the 1 hour special, the pair were asked what they wanted Santa to bring.

They were left feeling a little put out when they realised they both wanted the same gift: Kyle.

Kyle Howey is the mini-heart throb who has managed to steal the hearts of the two besties. Needless to say, the battle for Kyle’s affections proved to bring some serious sass from the duo.

“Santa’s going to go to his house, get dust and sprinkle it over his head and then he’s going to think about me,” said Kelsey.

Mia wasn’t going down without a fight though, and her comebacks are probably the funniest thing you’ll hear today.

Meanwhile, Kyle seems to be less than enthused with the girl’s affections:

“They do be fighting over me. They do be all over me trying to hug me,” he said.

TV3 will air TV3 Toy Show Auditions on Friday at 8PM.
