The Imitation Game actor and Oscar nominee, Benedict Cumberbatch, is facing serious heat after comments he made during a recent interview.

Benedict appeared on talk-show, Tavis Smiley, when he spoke about diversity in film: “I think as far as coloured actor go, it gets really different in the UK and a lot of my friends have had more opportunities here [the US] than in the UK, and that’s something that needs to change.”

Of course, it wasn’t the actors stance on the diversity in film that has upset people; but his use of the word ‘coloured’. The term is considered to be outdated and one look at Twitter will show that Benedict has caused considerable hurt in his use of it:

The actor is now being called on to apologise, though his rep has yet to comment on the situation.

Update 20:17 – Benedict has issued a statement apologising for his comments, saying:

"I'm devastated to have caused offence by using this outmoded terminology. I offer my sincere apologies. I make no excuse for my being an idiot and know the damage is done. I can only hope this incident will highlight the need for correct usage of terminology that is accurate and inoffensive. The most shaming aspect of this for me is that I was talking about racial inequality in the performing arts in the UK and the need for rapid improvements in our industry when I used the term. I feel the complete fool I am and while I am sorry to have offended people and to learn from my mistakes in such a public manner please be assured I have. I apologise again to anyone who I offended for this thoughtless use of inappropriate language about an issue which affects friends of mine and which I care about deeply."

Emma Watson has confirmed that she will be taking on the role of Belle in the upcoming live-action version of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast!

We have to say, whatever casting director made that decision may just be a genius – we genuinely cannot think of a more perfect actress to take on the gutsy, book-loving role of Belle!

Emma made the announcement on her Facebook page, writing: “I'm finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There'. My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it. Emma xx”

The news comes only days after Emma was praised for an eloquent speech she gave as part of #HeforShe. It has been seven months since the actress was announced as an UN Women's Goodwill Ambassador and the work she has been doing is truly incredible.

We think you’re going to be fabulous, congratulations Emma!

Now all that is left to know is…who will Beast be played by?! We have a few requests…

Former Scrubs star Zach Braff sent his fans into a frenzy when he tweeted a photo of himself and his former co-star, Sarah Chalke.

The pair played on-screen couple Elliot and JD in the long-running comedy so when Zach tweeted their night out, fans were bound to get excited. Always the joker, Zach took things one step further and wrote: “Guys, we actually ended up together.”

Unfortunately, the actor followed this revelation up with “#jokedontmakeherhusbandmadatme” crushing all of our dreams that JD and Elliot actually ended up together.

Zach is still firm friends with co-star, Donald Faison and the pair really are the original 'bromance' with Zach often posting sweet snaps of Donald's son, Rocco.

Donald is currently expecting another child with his wife, Cacee Cobb so we're sure the pair are glad to have an extra pair of hands in the house!

Once a little-known South American grain, quinoa is now a fully-fledged superfood. Eaten hot or cold, quinoa packs in twice as much fibre as any other grain, and is full of iron, magnesium and amino acids.

While quinoa is a great option if you want to feel fuller for longer, the truth is it can taste fairly bland when eaten by itself.

If you're sick of simply adding quinoa to your lunchtime salads, fear not, as there are so many different ways to use this extremely versatile grain.

Here are just a few…

1. As a risotto
Quinotto is just as creamy and delicious as a standard risotto, but the usual Arborio rice is replaced by, you've guessed it, quinoa. Sauté the uncooked quinoa with some onions and oil before adding veggie stock one ladle at a time, allowing the liquid to absorb before adding more. Try adding frozen peas, mint, smoked salmon and creme fraiche for a totally decadent dinner!

2. In veggie burgers
A spoon or two of cooked quinoa will go a long way to bulking up a veggie burger and doubling its fibre content. Simply add cooked quinoa to your burger mix before frying, grilling or baking them.

3. As a crispy coating, instead of breadcrumbs
Rather than coating chicken, prawns or any other meat in breadcrumbs, use uncooked quinoa instead. Dip your meat in a flour and salt mixture with the spices of your choice, then dip it again into a beaten egg mix, and finally dip it into the quinoa before frying on either side or a few minutes. Delicious! For a gorgeous looking meal, use red and black quinoa together as your coating.

4. In homemade muffins
Quinoa is a great ingredient in sweeter foods too. Add some cooked quinoa to your muffin mix instead of oats to add texture and keep you satisfied all morning.

5. To bulk up soups
If you're a fan of soup but find you always need a few slices of bread on the side to fill you up, try adding a few spoonfuls of cooked quinoa to the bowl instead. If you're making soup from scratch, add the quinoa around five minutes before the end of the cooking time. If you're eating an instant soup, simply add the quinoa about halfway through the heating time.

Signing photos is a huge part of being a celebrity and sometimes it can lead to some awkward moments…

Kanye experienced one of these so-called awkward moments when he was asked to sign a photo of Kim on her wedding day. Except it wasn’t a photo of Kim on her wedding day to Kanye – it was a snap of her at her wedding to ex-husband, Kris Humphries.

Thankfully, as we all know Kanye is one of the Hollywood’s most calm and collected stars – okay, no he isn’t but on this occasion he handled the situation very well!

Looking at the photo and laughing, Kanye says: “nah man, you just pulled out the wrong *muffled*.” Kim, who was by Kanye’s side, doesn’t seem to notice what is happening as she does her best to get by the photographers and reporters.

We think this may be a new Kanye on our hands!

Kim was married to the basketball player in August 2011 but famously filed for divorce only 72 days later. The reality TV star later married Kanye West in May 2014 and the couple have one daughter together, North West.

With so many egos living there at once, we reckon the Kardashian-Jenner household must be a hotbed of sibling rivalry!

Fans of the family's reality show will know that Kim is struggling to deal with her little sister Kendall's skyrocketing success on the catwalks, but this latest photoshoot shows that the 34-year-old can still give as good as she gets.

LOVE magazine today published the cover image for their February issue, featuring Kim alongside none other than Cara Delevingne.

Given that Cara and Kendall's blossoming friendship has been one of the most well-documented celeb relationships over the last year, we can't imagine Kendall is too happy about Kim stepping in on her turf!

An insider revealed over the weekend that Kim is constantly trying to one-up Kendall's achievements, and this latest project seems to be no different. "Kendall will bring up things that she’s doing, working on or projects that she’s been offered and Kim will play nice and be happy for her, but will immediately find a way to make the conversation about her," a source told Hollywood Life. "She’ll say things like, ‘Oh, that’s nice Kendall. I remember when I did that.’”

Ouch!

The LOVE cover solves the mystery of that polaroid Kim posted of herself and Cara a few months back – so they weren't just hanging out at the pool together! And as well as working on the magazine's cover shoot, Kim was also interviewed by Cara herself for a feature inside.

To really add salt to the wound, Kim's photoshoot comes just a couple of months after Kendall was featured as the cover star for LOVE's December issue. It seems these two are determined to outdo one another.

First dates can be downright terrifying, especially if you're just out of a relationship or haven't been on the dating scene in a while.

The most important thing to remember is that whoever you're meeting is probably just as nervous as you are. There is no point in freaking out – this is just a first date after all, a chance for you both to get to know eachother. It's not about selling yourself, it's about having a good time with someone new!

That said, there are a few basic dos and don'ts to keep in mind to ensure you show off your best self…

What to do

Do… speak up and be decisive
Saying "oh, I don't mind" to every question he asks about where to eat/what pub to try/what film to see doesn't show that you're totally chill, it just shows that you're… well, a little dull. Indecisiveness can get old, fast, so if you have a suggestion or an opinion on something, say it!

Do… be on time
At this stage in our lives we should all have a solid idea of how long we need to get ready for an evening out, so allow yourself ample time to prepare. Yes, arriving fashionably late might seem charming and sweet, but he'll appreciate you much more if you show up on time and don't leave him sitting by himself with only his nerves for company.

Do… avoid your phone
Checking our phone is something we do so many times a day that we barely even notice it's happening. Avoid getting lost in Facebook alerts or work emails by just putting your phone out of reach, in your bag or coat pocket. You're here to get to know each other so make the most of it!

Do… act interested
The best way to avoid awkward lulls in conversation is simply to ask questions. As you two get chatting, you'll find things flow more naturally, but having a few semi-general questions on hand is a great way to start things off.

What not to do

Don't… wear something uncomfortable
Yes, that high-waisted skirt might look A1, but if you can't breathe in it after two bites of dinner then maybe it's best to leave it in your wardrobe. A first date is nerve-wracking enough without you having to worry about how you look.

Don't… skip a meal beforehand
It's natural to lose your appetite if you're feeling a little nervous, but skipping lunch will only make you more jittery. The same goes for eating on the date – if you're going for lunch or dinner, then order as you normally would. Going for "just a green salad, please" when it's totally NOT you isn't going to make you appear any more feminine or attractive, in fact it'll probably just make him feel uncomfortable.

Don't… talk about your exes
Other men are the number one no-go topic on a first date. Be it other guys you're seeing right now or that ex who totally screwed you over, just avoid the topic until you've at least gotten through Date #1. Trust us on this one!

Don't… freak out over the bill
If the bill comes, offer to pay, but if he seems keen to cover it himself, then accept graciously, say it'll be your treat the next time and leave it at that. Don't push the issue if he genuinely wants to pay. If you two are meeting in a bar, let him buy the first round and buy the next one yourself. That way, you're both on even footing with no hassle.

A brand new passport card will be made available to Irish people in July.

The card will make travelling within the European Union easier as well as being useful for nights out, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Charlie Flanagan said: “The passport card will be particularly useful for young people who use their passport booklet as identification, especially on nights out.”

The card is a credit-card sized form of ID, meaning it will easily fit into our wallets and purses which will hopefully decrease the number of lost passports!

It sounds like the blind panic of convincing ourselves we’ve lost our passports after a night out on the town may be a thing of the past as the minister says that he has often been concerned with his own children bringing theirs out: “As a father I have often felt concern about the impracticality of the passport booklet as a means of identification for young people on nights out and this new card will be a far more practical option.”

The new card is the first of its kind in the world. Being valid for five years and costing €35 when it is launched in July, people can apply either online or through an app that has been set up for the new initiative.

Former Eastenders actress Danniella Westbrook may have been enjoying the trip of a lifetime in Egypt with her newly engaged pals Chris Maloney and Gary Doran this weekend, but she went through a pretty traumatic event before she left.

The actress' on-and-off boyfriend Tom Richards, who is struggling with drug and alcohol addiction issues, reportedly had to be rushed to hospital after collapsing on Danniella's doorstep recently.

It's believed police were called to Danniella's house after reports of a raging row, but that Tom had collapsed by the time they arrived, due to an overdose of prescription drugs combined with alcohol.

This isn't the first time that a row between the pair has escalated out of control. Back in the summer Danniella was seen throwing her phone at Tom's head during an on-street argument, and before Christmas Tom was arrested at a London hotel after yet another heated argument.

This most recent incident has apparently prompted Danniella to end her relationship with Tom once and for all, but she is having a hard time cutting ties with him "Danniella was absolutely horrified. Their relationship has been very fiery," a source told the Sunday People. "She finally had the strength to end it properly but Tom is making things very difficult for her."

It's been a tough few months for Danniella, who admitted on Twitter last year that she was living in sheltered housing having lost her home.

We hope that things start to look up for the actress.

In previous years the unofficial aim for Irish people has been to get as far away from Ireland as possible on St. Patrick's Day, but this time around we're thinking we'll stay close to home!

Dublin's St. Patrick's Day events have been re-branded in recent years, changing from one parade on the 17th March to a four-day festival jampacked with cultural, creative and fun events.

Although this year's line-up will not be announced in detail until next month, a few of the main events have been revealed and we have to admit they sound great!

Last year a three-year theme of "Past, Present and Future" was created for March 17th's parade, beginning with a look back at Ireland's rich history in 2014. This year the theme continues moving forward with a "Celebrate Now" message, paying tribute to Ireland's culture of arts and creativity.

Other key events include the festival's Big Day Out in on Sunday 15th March, with street performances, Irish language classes, artistic events and open air shows overtaking Georgian Dublin, and of course the annual 5k road race.

If that all sounds a little too much like "family fun" to you, then we recommend checking out this year's I Love My City line-up, featuring artists from a variety of disciplines performing in intimate and once-off events across the city.

So why not skip the pub this Paddy's weekend and discover what Ireland's cities have to offer? By the looks of this year's events, you won't regret it!

Lindsay Lohan may have been in hospital battling symptoms of the rare virus chikungunya this week, but she showed she's never too ill to cause controversy!

The Mean Girls star shared a mirror selfie on Instagram which soon sparked a massive reaction from her followers, but probably not for the reason she had hoped.

Lindsay's photo, which showed her teeny-tiny body clad in a pair of Calvins and a crop top, was captioned "#mycalvins are helping me fight off my chikungunya hehe"

While the actress' noticeably slimmed-down waistline may of course have been a result of her recent struggle with illness, fans were quick to point out a number of discrepancies in the photo including some wonky-looking bottles on the right of the sink and uneven lines on the wall behind. Both are telltale signs of Photoshopping which have caught out other celebrities such as Beyoncé and Paris Hilton in the past.

Commenters soon ridiculed the picture with one writing, "lol photoshop fail" and another saying, "lmao the photoshop is so obvious here."

Lindsay has yet to confirm or deny the rumours but either way we're delighted to see that she is on the mend at least, after contracting chikungunya from infected mosquitos during her holiday in French Polynesia over Christmas.
