Thanksgiving

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse are a couple that seem to be going from strength to strength.

The Riverdale pair, who met on the set of the CW show, have been dating for quite a while now – though it was ages before they confirmed the rumours that they were a couple.

However, they have begun to post a bit more about each other on their social media and Lili even took it a step further when she uploaded pictures of Cole to her Insta story – of him in her home for Thanksgiving.

Massive relationship milestone alert – meeting the parents.

The 22-year-old posted snaps of Cole with her dogs as well as a video of her dg by her dad's side as he cooked eggs.

She also posted an adorable video of her goddaughter Adeline making Thanksgiving cookies.

How sweet.

Lili, who was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to North Carolina when she was a teenager, seems smitten with her 26-year-old boyfriend.

They first when public with their romance at the Met Gala in May where they walked the red carpet together.

Since then, they have gushed about each other in various interviews.

Lili has said that she wants to keep her love life private because, '' it's just between two people, and that's the way it should be. It's not like I'm trying to dangle my relationship in front of people's faces like, 'you don't know anything about us.' It's just, you don't need to know. People feel like they're owed that, and you're absolutely not owed anything by me."

She did say some nice things about her boyf though.

"I like to go on adventures with Cole. He takes me to places where I'm like, 'How did you find this?' He's made me see these things that I would have never seen otherwise. It's escapism, which is so beautiful and wonderful."

And what about Cole?

He admits that Lili ''was a tough egg to crack, she's very shy at first, reserved, and I think it was about halfway into the first season she started letting people in truly."

However, he continued, ''she's one of those people that consistently pushes me to be better at the arts that I'm pursuing, and that's just the kind of person she is, she inspires excellence out of everybody she works with."

Sounds like true love to us.

From her high profile split with billionaire James Packer to the shade she received from singer Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey hasn’t had it easy these past few months.

And just as the hype surrounding the once celebrated star turns towards her new makeup collection, Mariah has been criticised for photoshopping her Thanksgiving photos.

Last week, the 46-year-old New Yorker shared a series of images of herself preparing for the American holiday on Instagram, one of which caught the eye of some very observant fans.

The picture shows the popstar standing in a plunging white bodysuit and distressed pair of jeans while holding a pie in one hand and a can of cream in the other.

Mariah’s followers were quick to call her out for digitally manipulating the shot, using tell-tale signs like a strange indent by her upper arm and a warped cabinet door behind one leg as proof of the offence.

“All that money she got and nobody could photoshop her correctly,” wrote one social media user.

“Mariah Carey was grateful for photoshop on Thanksgiving,” quipped another.

Earlier this year, Taylor Swift hosted a Fourth of July party so legendary she could easily have offered up her entire Thanksgiving in its honour.

But eager to continue her reign as the queen of public holidays, last week the Bad Blood singer rounded up her famous squad to mark Thanksgiving with a trip to the beach, an epic attempt at the Mannequin Challenge and, most importantly, a Disney-themed singsong.

Clearly enjoying her friend’s theatrical performance, the candid clips show a relaxed TayTay laughing and joking with her companions.

Last month, Khloé Kardashian hosted an uber-glam Thanksgiving dinner for the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan – but it turns out she may have kept us in the dark about one thing.

The reality star mentioned on the day that she had been up from all hours cooking and preparing food, even telling fans she was filming the process for her app.

In fact, she hit out on Twitter at some users who suggested she may have gotten in a catering company to prepare the meal for her.

A photo posted by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on

"I filmed on a tripod, in my kitchen a lot of me baking and prepping for today," she wrote, next to a snap of three Thanksgiving pies, monkey bread and cupcakes.

"For the people who don't believe I cooked the stuff, who cares to lie about cooking lol," she added in another tweet.

And yet, a new report by TMZ shows a €150 thanksgiving pie selection from premium LA bakery Sweet Lady Jane that looks VERY similar to Khloe's selection. Almost identical, in fact:

Rather than play down the whole "homemade" element, TMZ points out that Khloé even went so far as to place one of the pies on an oven rack to add to the DIY feel.

Of course, she could have just been warming them up…

Thankfully the 31-year-old was at least honest about one thing – the celebrity florist behind her breath-taking table arrangements.

Jeff Leatham, who also prepared the flowers for Sofia Vergara's recent Palm Beach wedding, was the mastermind behind Khloé's cream-and-gold decor.

Nothing homemade about that set-up!

The entire Kardashian-Jenner clan gathered at Khloé's home for Thanksgiving last week – but not everyone in attendance was a family member.

Kim, Kylie and Khloé all shared the same family snap on their Instagram feeds, showing the famous family gathered for a group photo: grandkids, (ex-)boyfriends and all.

As well as the presence of Scott Disick, plus a rare sighting of Kris and Caitlyn Jenner together, many fans wondered who on earth the guy in the camo jumper on the left could be.

Kourtney's new boyfriend? Kim and Kanye's manny? A male model brought along by Kendall?

None of the above, as it turns out. The man in question, J. Sakiya Sandifer, grew up with Kanye in Chicago and is counted among the rapper's best friends, according to TMZ.

So solid is their bromance that Kanye and Sakiya even penned a book of inspiring quotes together, Thank You and You're Welcome, back in 2009.

And if there was any doubt as to Sakiya's connection with the family, here he is as a groomsman at Kanye and Kim's May 2014 wedding, walking Kylie down the aisle:

Apparently, Sakiya was in LA on business and the close-knit family invited him along for a home-cooked meal.

As for Scott's presence in the family photo, he and Kourtney have been spotted together more frequently of late, even spotted laughing and smiling together as they took their son Mason on a shopping trip over the weekend.

They were also photographed out for lunch in Calabasas a few days before the family celebration.

A picture is worth a thousand words, especially a Kardashian-Jenner family photo.

Facts Channel recently asked a group of Irish lads and ladies over to taste the delicacies of American Thanksgiving dinner… and they were not impressed, to say the least.

They called Brussels sprouts "condensed grass" and theyhey thought the hasselback potato looked like an "armadillo." But they were particularly grossed out over the sweet potato and marshmallow casserole.

The truly-Irish sayings they come out with are brilliant though. No one else can describe like the Irish!

This year marks the first year that retailers in Ireland have properly embraced the idea of Black Friday, with hundreds of stores offering shopping discounts today and over the weekend.

One store manager – from Ecco Shoes on Grafton St – described this morning's scenes at 6.30am as "pandemonium," telling Today FM he had "queues down the street."

Thankfully though, the crazed shopping madness has yet to reach its peak here, in comparison to the US and the UK.

Many US retailers opened on Thanksgiving Day this year, meaning that today's Black Friday queues have lessened a bit compared to 2014 – but a look at the above video will prove there's still a LOT of people out there wanting bargains.

And some of the Reuters photos from today and last year have us thinking online shopping might be the way to go for the next… well, forever.

1. Ah, just a relaxed stroll through the tunnel of doom

2. At least this woman's headgear is on point

3. HANDBAGS, everywhere.

4. The zombies shoppers have arrived

5. You can really feel the love in this picture

6. Everyone's just having a great time, y'know?

7. We bet this poor lad was happy to get home after his shift ended

Yesterday a whole host of US-based celeby-types were sharing pictures and clips of their Thanksgiving celebrations. There was turkey, there were pies of sorts, there was more turkey.

It all looked mighty like our own Christmas Day… albeit with no Mass and no hour-long Mrs Brown's Boys special.

And how lovely too to see the entire, quirky Kardashian-Jenner clan come together.

Youngest of the bunch Kylie was even happy to share an Instagram snap of her "blended" family.

In fact, just about everyone – Kim and Kanye; Kris and Kris's beau-of a year Corey Gamble; an accepted-back-into-fold Tyga; Khloe; all the grandkids, and even the once beleaguered Scott Disick – showed up en masse for the celebration.

Hosted by 65-year-old Caitlyn at her sprawling Malibu home, fans online were quick to ask the question on everyone's lips: just where is Rob Kardashian… and WHO is the guy on the far left of the picture?

Rob, of course, has largely retired from public life over the last couple of years – with the 28-year-old reportedly still battling with his weight.

Indeed, many fans suggested that rather than step in front of the lens, the self-conscious Mr Kardashian would have been more comfortable in the role of photographer for the occasion.

That doesn't, however, clear up the presence of that mystery man – although some observers suggested he was merely a close family friend who had been invited to attend the gathering.

Anyone know WHO he is?

Khloé Kardashian might be fresh out of hospital after two weeks of bed rest for a bacterial infection, but she wasn't going to let a little thing like illness get in the way of a family event.

The reality star admitted on Twitter that playing hostess was "therapy" for her as she kicked off her Thanksgiving prep yesterday.

Kim, Kourtney, Kendall, Kylie (and Scott!) all descended on Khloe's Calabasas mansion for the holiday, and the 31-year-old didn't disappoint.

Just look at those place settings!

Bouquets of white and scarlet flowers lined the dining tables, with candles and brushed gold cutlery at each plate.

Can we come next year?

"I am sooooo proud of myself," the KUWTK star said, posting a snap of her famously pristine kitchen overloaded with traditional Thanksgiving desserts like pecan pie, pumpkin pie and gooey monkey bread.

If you're thinking that Khloé's massive entourage whipped up the picture-perfect meal on her behalf, you'd be mistaken – at least when it comes to the dessert spread.

"I filmed on a tripod, in my kitchen a lot of me baking and prepping for today," she wrote, next to a snap of the pies.

"For the people who don't believe I cooked the stuff, who cares to lie about cooking lol" she said on Twitter.

For main course she also served up a roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings – gravy, Brussels sprouts, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce *drool*

If this is Thanksgiving, we want in.

Today, November 26, marks Thanksgiving Day in the USA.

While Ireland is certainly home to a lot of expats, the Thanksgiving tradition has yet to catch on here, mainly because it is so tied into US and Canadian history.

The modern-day Thanksgiving celebration is usually traced back to a Pilgrim feast at Plymouth back in 1621 in honour of that year's good harvest.

And while Ireland has adopted traditions like Halloween trick-or-treating and pumpkin carving as its own, Thanksgiving is one autumn celebration that hasn't made it to these shores.

All the same, there are definitely a few elements of Thanksgiving we can totally get on board with…

1. Turkey, turkey, turkey
We never say no to a good roast dinner… and it means we don't have to wait until December 25.

2. A cheeky day off work
When is that ever a bad thing?

3. Pies, cornbread and green bean casserole
We're still not sure sure about sweet potato pie with marshmallow topping though.

4. Black Friday shopping discounts
Lots of Irish retailers have adopted the tradition of giving discounts on November 27, so prepare to blow your entire pay check tomorrow.

5. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Snoopy, Spongebob, Kermit – all our faves, only massive and inflatable.

6. Giving thanks and helping those less fortunate
Looking back at things we're grateful for over the past year should be something all of us do, regardless of where we're from.

7. Leftovers for days
Who can forget poor Ross and his stolen Thanksgiving sandwich?

8. Officially marking the start of the festive season
In Ireland, Christmas starts in that grey area between "after Halloween" and "December." In the US it's a lot easier to figure out.

Russell Brand and ex-wife Katy Perry began dating in September 2009, got engaged a mere three months later on New Years Eve and married in India the following year, but it seems Russell has suffered severe amnesia and has absolutely no idea who Katy is anymore.

In a bid to educate himself on American holiday Thanksgiving, Russell chatted with kids in the States who kindly agreed to school the actor and comedian on their favourite national holiday, but things got kind of awkward kind of quickly.

When Russell asked one school child who she would invite to Thanksgiving dinner, the answer she gave seemed to leave the 39-year-old just a little rattled.

When the little girl responded with a shy ‘Katy Perry’, the normally quick-witted star appeared momentarily stunned before quickly mumbling “Katy Perry? I don’t know who that is." Surely, he could have come up with something a bit better than that?

When another young girl said she’d invite Ariana Grande, Russell insisted he knew exactly who she was, only making his slight against Katy all the more obvious.

Surely, Russell could have gotten into the holiday spirit and said something nice about Katy to her young fans, no?
