Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have reportedly broken up. Page Six revealed that the Riverdale stars went their separate ways shortly before lockdown started in the United States.

The couple, who have yet to respond to the break-up rumours, had been dating for three years.

Page Six shared, “Cole and Lili split before the pandemic hit, and have been quarantining separately. They remain good friends.”

News of the supposed break-up comes as no surprise to Riverdale fans. Skeet Ulrich, who plays FP Jones on the show, let it slip that the couple were no more during a livestream.

“They were a very cute couple. They're both beautiful people” he commented.

Sprouse was recently accused of cheating on the Hustlers star with model Kaia Gerber, but shut down the rumours.

"I tolerate a lot of rumours and slander from people online claiming to be my fans. Fans who feel entitled to my privacy precisely because I never indulge them. But attacking my friends, baseless accusations, leaking my address, and sending death threats are all qualities of insanity and fanaticism.

“When I first stepped into a public relationship this was one of the foreseeable consequences. And while I never truly intend to indulge any part of my private life to the ravenous horde, it’s clear my restraint in updating them has allowed them to push their own agenda onto my habits and lifestyle,” the former Disney star wrote.

The Riverdale stars started dating in early 2017 when they were cast as Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper on the teen-drama series.

We’ve got a love/hate relationship with Riverdale. It is one of the most ridiculous shows on TV yet we can’t stop watching it (trust us, we’ve tried!)

Season four has been as crazy as ever before and it has honestly left us baffled. These kids are 17! Why are they fighting criminals? Following murderers? And running a business?

The show is absolutely surreal and a lot of the storylines are so far fetched, but this latest fan theory has blown our minds.

Fans believe Jughead is actually writing a book and everything happening in the show is actually just a figment of his imagination.

Image

It makes so much sense, right?

Jughead is the show’s narrator after all so this theory is pretty believable. One of the first things Cole Sprouse’s character says in season one is;

“This story is about a town, a small town and the people who live in the town…"

Image

One fan explained the theory on Reddit: "That's why the episodes are "Chapters", and why Jughead is narrating the opening and ending of each episode. This is all part of his novel(s)."

We have to admit we’re loving this theory because Riverdale can be a little too ridiculous at times, but it is our guilty pleasure.

A new episode of Riverdale airs on Netflix every Thursday.

Riverdale honoured the late Luke Perry with a fitting tribute in last week’s episode.

The emotional episode left fans of the show in floods of tears, but it looks like we won’t see how the characters cope in the weeks after Fred’s death.

The creators of the teen drama said a time jump takes place between episodes one and two, which means this week’s episode takes place in September.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa felt like it would be wise to have some time between Fred’s funeral and the remainder of season four.

He told Entertainment Weekly, “I will say that the shadow Fred’s death casts is on episode 2 and honestly we’re about 10 episodes into the season and we’re still feeling that.”

“The truth is, something that like, Archie [KJ Apa] will be wrestling with that for the rest of his life, other characters less so. One of the things that’s been interesting is when a tragedy like that happens, everyone grieves and then people move on at different points.

“But for the person who’s at the core of it, they live with it every day. We don’t pretend it didn’t happen, it’s still very much permeating Archie’s story,” he stressed.

He continued, “In the writers room, we did want to start episode 2 on a little bit of a lighter note and get back into the high school world. I think that’s a nice balm, a nice counter to it.”

A new episode of Riverdale will air on Netflix on Thursday, October 17.

We have so many questions that desperately need to be answered. The main one being- where on earth is Jughead? Is he even alive?

Who knows.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief as the autumn time is officially here which means most of our favourite shows are set to return, including Riverdale.

We only have to wait a few more days to wait until Archie, Betty and co. return to Riverdale as it hits Netflix on October 10.

Season four will feature an emotional tribute episode to Luke Perry, who played Fred Andrews on the show until he tragically suffered a stroke last year.

There's no doubt fans will be taken aback by the emotional episode.

The Internet erupted when reports of Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse’s breakup spread like wildfire, but the Riverdale couple quickly made fun of media outlets (us included) and fans who believed the rumours about their separation.

The couple mocked the reports by sharing photos from their joint W magazine cover and we all felt awfully silly for caring too much about celebrity romances.

Lili has since spoken out about her relationship with the former Disney star and it sounds like she is as happy as ever.

The actress, who is currently promoting her new movie Hustlers, put all the rumours to bed during an interview with Coveteur

The Riverdale star was speaking about her upcoming plans for Halloween and it sounds like the duo are planning on dressing up together.

Lili teased, “I think I'm leaning in towards a character for Halloween. I think I'm going to do it with my boyfriend, Cole. I don't want to spoil it if it's not going to happen, but it's a TV duo."

Yes, she said boyfriend so Lili and Cole are obviously still loved up.

The couple have always been extremely private about their relationship, with Lili telling W magazine that it is vital for them to keep their personal lives private.

“I got the tattoo after my freshman year. I had a very, very bad experience; I was roofied by someone who sexually assaulted me,” she told the magazine.

The feeling of safety itself can epitomise home for many people, not just a place or a town: "If you don’t have that literal box, you have to create it in your habits.”

"People sometimes put working out first and don’t give their bodies rest. I’ll always choose sleep first. I think it’s just so underrated.”

“I danced for seven years, from age 4 to 11," she added. "Then I did musicals as a kid, then so much of acting school is movement classes and connecting your breath to your body. Activity has always been an important part of my life."

We don't know about you, but we're mighty confused right now about Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse.

Rumours rocked the entertainment world this week, with E! News and Harper's Bazaar among others reporting that the Riverdale pair had split up after two years of dating.

The former couple are now trolling us all after showing a united front, proving that they remain close friends. They both took to Instagram to debut a stunning vampire photoshoot, taken just before they broke up;

The interview explains their relationship in their own words, with Lili hinting that #Bughead's relationship on the TV show may also be coming to an end.

Shutting down rumours that they couldn’t be near each other, both of them mocked the ‘inside sources’ criticising their relationship, claiming that they were avoiding each other at Comic Con.

Lili captioned the photo: "BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know s**t." Drag us, Lili. We deserve it.

Meanwhile, Cole chose to go down a darker route and joked: "UNPRECEDENTED: Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart consume the flesh of ‘reliable sources’ to fuel their bacchanalian sex cult.’" Plot twist?

The interview took place just before they called time on their relationship, confirming that they'd parted ways in the months following the chat.

Emphasising the fact that they were on unstable ground, the duo had their interviews conducted separately but insisted they were on good terms.

Lili told W Magazine: "At first, I didn’t want things private. "Now that I’m X amount of years in, I do appreciate the privacy we have, that Cole's encouraged me to take.

"No one knows how long we’ve been together, and no one will until we’re ready to say it. No one knows how we fell in love, except for our close friends and us," she added.

Cole mentioned privacy in his part of the interview:

"Until you go through the paces and the dating stages and know that something is right for you, I don’t think it’s appropriate to bring others in.

"But in all honesty, my own happiness and her happiness come before caring about what people are saying."

“I try to be open because I'm not putting on a show,” she said. “I'm not trying to look perfect… my life in general is not extremely glamorous. I do a lot of really cool and glamorous things, but that's not my day to day."

"I like to show off myself as being in my natural habitat, which is pretty much just in my bed, eating," she said.

We truly appreciate her honesty and self-care PSAs; we all need time to ourselves, and mental health should always be a priority.

News recently hit that The CW has ordered a pilot episode for a Riverdale spin-off, and we're ECSTATIC. We need a Pops milkshake to calm down from all this exciting news, because one of the cast's main characters is set to star in the new show.

The title of the hit teen drama's newest addition is called Katy Keene, according to Deadline and TVLineand is a musical dramady which follows the protagonist to New York City.

The main character is a fashionista who, alongside her pals, are striving, "to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio," according to the network. We're already hooked.

However, they have begun to post a bit more about each other on their social media and Lili even took it a step further when she uploaded pictures of Cole to her Insta story – of him in her home for Thanksgiving.

Massive relationship milestone alert – meeting the parents.

The 22-year-old posted snaps of Cole with her dogs as well as a video of her dg by her dad's side as he cooked eggs.

She also posted an adorable video of her goddaughter Adeline making Thanksgiving cookies.

Since then, they have gushed about each other in various interviews.

Lili has said that she wants to keep her love life private because, '' it's just between two people, and that's the way it should be. It's not like I'm trying to dangle my relationship in front of people's faces like, 'you don't know anything about us.' It's just, you don't need to know. People feel like they're owed that, and you're absolutely not owed anything by me."

She did say some nice things about her boyf though.

"I like to go on adventures with Cole. He takes me to places where I'm like, 'How did you find this?' He's made me see these things that I would have never seen otherwise. It's escapism, which is so beautiful and wonderful."

And what about Cole?

He admits that Lili ''was a tough egg to crack, she's very shy at first, reserved, and I think it was about halfway into the first season she started letting people in truly."

However, he continued, ''she's one of those people that consistently pushes me to be better at the arts that I'm pursuing, and that's just the kind of person she is, she inspires excellence out of everybody she works with."

Sounds like true love to us.
