Despite describing her own account as “boring”, earlier this year Selena Gomez beat the likes of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and all the Kardashian-Jenners to the title of most followed person on Instagram.

And now, the Same Old Love singer has become the first person on the site to hit 100 million followers – even though she’s been absent from social media for a month.

As noted by seventeen.com, the 24-year-old’s lack of Instagram and Twitter activity appears to coincide with the cancellation of the remainder of her Revival tour.

Last month, the former Disney star shocked fans by announcing that she would be taking a career break to deal with ongoing health issues. 

She’s been suffering from Lupus, depression and anxiety.

But while fans were undoubtedly disappointed to learn that they would not be seeing Sel perform in the near future, they have been actively supporting her on social media as when they realised she was closing in on the coveted 100 mil following, they launched a #SelenaBreakTheInternet hashtag to push her account over the finish line.

Close-to a year after shedding a load of weight – reality TV star Lauren Goodger is still working up a sweat and keeping the excess pounds at bay.

However, the 30-year-old – who is known for her love of heavy contouring, false lashes and HD brows – showed why OTT makeup and the gym rarely mix.

In a selfie posted to her Instagram account yesterday, Ms Goodger can be seen working out with enthusiasm… so much so that her mascara is smudged around her eyes and her foundation is practically dripping down her face. 

It seems that the snap may have been an attempt to answer her critics: late last week, the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant was criticised for piling back on the weight that she worked hard to lose when unflattering photos of her came to light.

It was an issue she addressed in the same Instagram entry. "Sunday afternoon gym session," she wrote. "When I train I trainnnnn hard, this is one of the hardest targets to date."

She continued: "Since seeing bad pap pics lately even though I don't agree I look like that at all, I've been training extremely hard and I nearly feel as Amazing as I did on my DVD it works and I'm sticking to it not long now."

Last month, Lauren also posted a super-fit throwback snap of her at a svelte 9st. 

The star, who once weighed-in at 13st, wrote alongside the snap: "My eye is on that goal – here I go again."

Her weight-loss journey has been well-documented – dropping an incredible 4st and going from a size 16 to a size 6 after overhauling her diet and exercise habits. 

Yes, since emerging as queen of the I'm A Celebrity jungle last year, Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison has gone from strength-to-strength.

It's a transformation that Vicky herself attributes more specifically to ditching junk food and alcohol and switching to a healthy diet of three meals a day. 

She furthermore has a best-selling fitness DVD and a V-Nutrtion range of nutritional bars.

However, the 28-year old has taken even her loyal fans by surprise with her latest Instagram post. Showing a before-and-after snap, Ms Pattison's incredible transformation can be seen to full effect.

Her fans were quick to compliment her too. "Really impressive transformation! Keep it up and be proud!!" said one. "You were still hot before but you're on fire now!! X" said another. A third commentator remarked: "Body achieves what the mind believes, well done you look amazing."

Just this week is was announced that Ms Pattinson had been given an ITV presenting gig for an I'm A Celeb spin-off show.

If ever we need further evidence that babies – and even photographs of babies – can turn people (and their brains) to absolute mush, we need look no further than Blac Chyna's Instagram page.

After uploading a photograph of her four-year-old son captured soon after his birth in 2012, Chyna was inundated with congratulations from fans who clearly misunderstood the situation.

Assuming that Chyna had given birth to Rob Kardashian's baby, countless Instagram users rushed to share in their delight last night despite the fact Chyna had captioned the image with her son's name – King Cairo.

"Rob finally is a daddy! Congrats to you all," wrote one confused member of the public while another added: "Ohhhhh soo nice to share the first photo of her!"

"He's so beautiful@blacchyna and @robkardashian! Congrats to you all!" added another.

Rushing in to clear up the confusion, more alert members of the Instagram community urged their fellow followers to pay closer attention to the captions which accompany images.

"Dats not Rob's baby. It's Chyna's son when he was born. It even says his name at the caption," one explained. (sic)

"This is her son, not her daughter that she's having with Rob," clarified another.

So nope, Chyna 'did not have her baby early', she was merely going for a ThrowbackThursday vibe, and probably regretting it now…

In a black-and-white snap posted on her Instagram account, where she boasts some 2.4million fans, the 31-year-old showed why she's a seriously in-demand underwear model and former Sports Illustrated star.

Baby Liv was born in Tel Aviv last month weighing in at 7lbs. 

Bar married businessman 41-year-old Adi Ezra a year ago and has previously stated that they'll be having "a big Jewish family" together.

They may be been dating nine months at this stage, but that doesn't mean Liam Payne's fans are fully ready to accept it.

While they might be able to deal with the odd red carpet appearance, it looks like some die-hard Directioners struggle when offered insights into Liam and Cheryl Cole's private life as the former 1D star discovered earlier today.

The 23-year-old singer, who is currently recording his solo album in Los Angeles, decided to give his girlfriend a shout-out on Instagram, and not everyone can handle the intimacy of the shot.

Sharing a snap of the pair getting their chill on with face masks, Liam wrote: "I miss you!…the things you make me do. Home soon!"

The post, which has clocked up more than half a million likes in just seven hours, has divided Directioners – some of whom can't get enough of the new couple and others who'd rather they reigned in the private photoshoots.

"Awwww, you guys are legit goals," wrote one while another added: "This is so cute, wish I had a bf to do this with!!"

Unfortunately for the couple, other people were less enthused by the snapshot into Chiam's family life, with one writing: "What on God's good green earth is that?"

"Sorry but I can't like this," added one while another snarkily remarked: "Mother and son bonding. This surely makes my heart warms. How sweet Liam!"

Hailey Baldwin is reportedly being sued for plagiarising an author’s words on Instagram in the midst of Justin Bieber’s Insta row with Selena Gomez.

OK so we know that’s a lot of celebrity in one intro, but possibly prompted by that very public spat Hailey used the popular social media site to share a deep quote about human error which, as it turns out, wasn’t written by the model herself.

According to Page Six, the posted quote had actually been pulled from Say What’s Real – a book whose author was not impressed to see her words associated with the 19-year-old in articles about JB’s tiff with his ex.

The image – which has since been deleted – included insights like: “We’ve all had our fair share of things we’ve done, both good and bad.  What makes the present so powerful is when we take complete responsibility for our actions, we allow ourselves self-growth.”

And: “The truth always comes to light, so it’s better just to own it.  We’re all guilty of things, but show people you have enough love and respect for yourself to be honest about it and learn from it.”

Now, writer Melissa Molomo has demanded that Hailey apologise for causing confusion about the work’s origins by failing to credit her in the post.

A letter sent by Molomo’s legal rep also states that by “stealing” the quote Stephen Baldwin’s daughter could be liable for up to $150,000 (around €134,000) worth of damages.

So ladies from now on when regramming inspirational quotes, be sure to acknowledge where those words really came from.

Upon learning that the controversial rapper had finally created a verified account on the picture sharing site, the world quickly began to wonder what would be the focus of Yeezy’s first post.

While Tom Hiddleston and John Mayer kept Twitter entertained through last night’s Emmys, Kristen Bell set to work with winning over Instagram.

Before the event even began, the Bad Moms star used the ‘gram to keep fans up-to-date with her red carpet beauty prep – a process which included a suspect-looking lip conditioning sticker and whole lot of joking around.

Clearly in the depths of a makeover, the actress shared a snap of herself wearing a face mask with the caption: “I have serious doubts this is actually a lip conditioning sticker my makeup artist @simonesiegl applied over my mouth…I’m pretty sure she just wanted me to zip it.”

She then posted a pic of her puffed up hair and wrote: “Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and said, confidently ‘This looks GREAT guys!  Let’s go!’  Then I was informed we’re only half way done.”

It looks like the 36-year-old’s glam time really did pay off as she appeared on the red carpet in one of the most stunning dresses of the night – a full skirted floral gown with a perfectly plunging neckline which has already been classed as bridal inspiration by online commentators.

Model Emily Ratajkowski, American Pie star Natasha Lyonne and Golden Globe nominee Sarah Paulson also wowed on the night with their very different outfits of choice.

As if Kristen hadn’t already made her way into our go-to Insta list, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star finished off her night just as we would – by tucking into a big slice of pizza.

Looking slightly less glam than in her earlier pics, the actress shared a photo of herself with sauce on her chin alongside the caption: “The shading on my chin tonight was courtesy of @pizzasauce.”

Well – if the Twilight star’s recent Insta upload is anything to go by – in the weirdest way he actually kind of can!

While it’s not altogether clear whether or not the 24-year-old actor has actually decided to give this year’s pastel trend a go, his new pic would certainly suggest he’s given it some thought.

The King of Pop's daughter Paris Jackson has revealed she has been heavily bullied and attempted to take her life by suicide four years ago.

The 18-year-old totally broke down as she recalled how she was abused by Internet bullies, and then continued to say "nothing has changed".

In a now-deleted video shared on her Instagram page, Paris was visibly upset and shaken.

She said: "I don't understand how there can be so much hatred in the world.

"I've tried sticking up for myself, the whole blocking the haters thing, not reading the comments… I've tried a lot of things. But it's hard when there's so much of it.

"I don't get why I'm such an easy target. I try to be nice to everyone I meet, I give everyone a chance.

"I try to be open with you guys about what I do on a daily basis. I don't hide a lot, I'm very public," she said.

Paris then spoke about her two-year break from social media and why she decided to return.
