More than 20 members of the same family living on three continents and separated by thousands of miles were brought together for one very special gathering by Domino's this week. For years the Matthews family, whose roots are in Dublin’s Walkinstown, have come together at Christmas for a reunion – no matter where in the world they are living. However, because of Covid-19 the family in the UK, US and Australia, like one million other Irish diasporas, couldn't make it home this year.

Domino's, the nation’s best loved pizza company, heard about the Matthews family’s passion for pizza and stepped up to the plate to organise simultaneous deliveries to the entire family all over the world allowing them to share their pizzas using the most ever-present technology of 2020; the video call. With stores across Ireland, the UK, US and Australia Domino’s was primed to be the perfect partner to bring them altogether. In celebration of this, Domino’s is offering one lucky Irish pizza fan a chance to win a delicious virtual pizza party by entering Domino’s Instagram competition which launches today over on @Dominos_ROI .

Speaking at this year’s virtual family reunion, Ruth Matthews Dodd said; “We have this lovely tradition of getting together in the house in Walkinstown for a big family dinner every December. It’s been so long since we’ve all been together and so much has happened in this last year. I miss my son Enda in Australia, my niece Lorna over in the UK and my brother Ronán in the US too and I just can’t wait to hug them again. Our family in Ireland is spread over Dublin, Kildare and Wexford so we haven’t been able to meet up properly for a long time too. It was just so great to see everyone at the same time, in one room, sort of, and to share pizza together. I can’t wait to see them all in person and argue over the last slice!”

Melanie Howe, Domino’s Pizza Party Patron said; “It’s been a really challenging year for so many and we’re lucky to be able to bring families together for some of their best moments despite such unreliability this year. Even when the world is making hugs impossible, you can rely on Domino’s to deliver piping hot, fresh pizza from dough to door, all over Ireland and the world. We’re hoping more people will get together safely with family and friends over video call and ‘share’ a pizza, safe in the knowledge that at Domino’s, we got this.”

The newest pizza style is a rich, hearty full-flavoured meal starring a Mediterranean-inspired flavour combination that’s tried and tested.

This week, from today until Friday, 1 March, people who spot the Domi-Pin will win one of the new Catalan Chicken and Chorizo pizzas on the spot…life just can't get any better.

We've all been there. Saturday night, not a word from anyone all day, when all of a sudden your phone lights up.

You immediately start planning your outfit and gearing up for the night ahead – but oh wait, it's just Domino's Pizza again.

Is there anything anything more disappointing?

Well, one Cork lad has decided that enough is enough, and although he loves Domino's deeply, the constant texts have got to stop.

Seán Fogarty took to his local branch's Facebook page to let them down easy.

“Look. What had was incredible that night  but i cant see you anymore (sic). I want you to know i love and respect you but im seeing someone else now,” he wrote.

And the plot thickens.

“I know i said don't worry about them but i have to be honest now. Im seeing Apache Pizza Ballyvolane. They make me feel special. But what we had was special too and ill cherish it always. <3 its not you, its me, and my wallet.”

But, determined to be the bigger person, Domino's waited until emotions had settled before dishing out the most brilliant response.

“Dearest Seán. It has taken me a while to write back, because I just couldn't bring myself to reach out to you again, knowing you would only break my heart even further. But I can stay silent no more,” they began.

“The time we shared… it really was special. I had no idea you were seeing someone else… that you had a bit on the side. I'll admit… it hurt. A lot. Especially hearing who you were cheating on me with.

“Do they give you as many toppings as I did? Do they knead your dough as long and as lovingly as I did? Do they taste as good as I do?”

“On second thought, forget I asked. I don't want to know. It would hurt me too much to hear the answers.

“I'll admit, I was tempted to beg you to take me back. Surely once you saw how much I needed you you would rethink things. But no. I won't beg. I will respect your decision and try to move on with my life.

“Hopefully someday I will find someone who held me like you did, who enjoyed me as much as you did. Someone who loves me for who I am – a steaming hot dish, crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside, cheesy af, sometimes spicy, sometimes not, who wants nothing more than to be loved and touched and devoured intensely.

“I believe that person does exist, and they will love me more than you ever did”.

But of course, like all great break-ups, Domino's finished with a little dig:

“Best of luck with your bit on the side – and don't be calling me at 2am when you get sick of her or when she disappoints you, because I'll probably be busy with someone else. #MovingOn #PepperoniPassion#BreakUpsAreHard”

You'll bounce back Domions – we got you!

Greatness from Dominooo's.

Yes, it's theme tune is stuck in our heads right now, but let's be honest with ourselves, we all love a feast from Domino's every now and again.

The pizza chain suits us perfectly on hangover days, sick days and as cheat meals, however, its latest revelation has people freaking TF out.

It turns out the Domino's Garlic and Herb dip (the family size version) contains 675 calories.

Yes, we know it's the equivalent of two McDonald's cheeseburgers, but we don't order Domino's to be healthy, do we?

Plus it's family size, and meant to be shared (but we can admit that we gobble it all up by ourselves sometimes).

Domino’s told The Sun: “Our Garlic & Herb Big Dip is great for sharing with family and friends, and we recommend each party size should serve at least four people. Single size pots are also available at 169 cals each.

“We’re committed to providing transparent nutritional information on our website and via our app, to enable customers to make informed decisions.”

We'll be honest, we're not too bothered by this news… we might even order a Domino's tonight.

Sometimes, we don't even want to ring up a restaurant to give our order, so this will come in handy for… well, for hangover days, hectic days, period days, or any other day that you just feel a little lazy.

Domino's will deliver your pizza even if you're not there, so it will still be piping hot for when you get home.

And you can even choose the style of your new Heatwave Letterbox, which include finishes such as ice chrome, slick nickel and classy brassy.

You can either sponsor the hen party for around 60 quid, give the men a '2am Bachelor Party Feast' or treat the newly-married couple to a 'Post-Honeymoon Adjustment To Real Life' pizza.

We'd say many married couples would prefer this as a present opposed to… well, silverware.

If anyone has a serious case of The Fear this morning, it's one particular branch of Domino's Pizza after an employee was snapped in a compromising position in a well-known highstreet supermarket.

So, it all kicked off when the guy, who was wearing a Dominos uniform, was photographed stocking up on potato wedges in a branch of Aldi in the UK.

Taking to social media to call the pizza giant out on the apparent indiscretion, SineadSarah shared the snap before writing: "Thank you @dominos – next time I spend 3.99 on tiny portion of potato wedges, I'll remember there from Asda." (sic)

Twitter users, unsurprisingly, wasted no time getting in on the drama as the tweet racked up more than 17,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

"Free Pizza for life coming her way so she doesn't reveal any more of your secrets!" wrote one (exceptionally gleeful) social media user.

"I feel so betrayed," added another.

Weighing in on the controversy, a spokesperson for the international franchise acknowledged the public's outrage, and hastened to offer an explanation for the move.

"With a big sporting weekend, very occasionally our stores are in an unfortunate position where some products may run out," she said.

"We do not advocate this as a solution and are investigating. We have rigorous food standards where our franchisees buy all food from our approved suppliers to help maintain the high standards customers rightly expect.”

Right, so…

Ever been so worse for wear that even ordering a takeaway feels like effort?

Well, at long last the heroes at Domino’s have found a solution.

The pizza giant has launched a new facility which allows customers to order food through Facebook simply by messaging the word “PIZZA” to a contact called “Dom”.

“Dom” – who is in fact an artificially intelligent chatbot – enables Facebook users to satisfy their cravings near instantaneously by automatically ordering a user’s favourite pizza upon receiving the word “PIZZA” or – if you’re really suffering – its emoji equivalent.

To get set up, all you need to do is open an “Easy Order” account with Dominos and link it to your Facebook profile.

Then, open your messages, find “Dom” and let him take care of the rest.

Sundays just got a whole lot better.

You know that delighted feeling you get when you order a takeaway only to learn on arrival that you’ve been given extra food?

Well, imagine how you’d feel if your delivery came with $5,000 in cash.

After ordering chicken wings from Domino’s in San Jose, a Californian woman discovered that she had accidentally been given a container full of cash instead of her food.

But while most of us would take the 5k and head straight for the shops, honest Selena Avalos contacted the branch from which her food had been sent and alerted those working there of their mistake.

According to The Sun, the popular pizza chain rewarded the Spacetel Wireless manager’s honesty by offering her free pizza for a year.

And just for being a good person, Selena’s boss gave her a paid week off work.
