Ireland's top social influencers have been warned that they must tell their followers when an image has been edited.

According to reports, The Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland has said the public must be made aware when an image used in online advertising has been altered in any way.

The warning comes just days after a number of influencers rallied together to create a campaign against online bullying after Instagram account @bullshitcallerouter accused the women of misleading their followers through the use of filters and photoshop.

The page, which attracted thousands of followers overnight, caused quite the stir online

The anonymous woman behind the account told SHEmazing, “I wanted to bring awareness that the image portrayed by these 'influencers" is a highly sanitised version of reality.”

She continued: “I think the whole 'influencer' craze is just mindboggling. Here you have a select few, who have made their livings out of pedalling certain products and lifestyles on young women (mostly) in this country.”

“Now, I have no problem with ANYONE making a living and putting food on their tables.  What I (and many others it would seem!) have issues with is the whole fake lifestyle.”

In response to the controversy, fashion and lifestyle blogger Rosie Connolly admitted that she had previously edited photos that were used to promote products from advertisers, and apologised to her followers – a practice which, according to the ASAI, does not adhere to their codes of conduct.

It is not yet know how the warning will affect the relationships between brand and influencers, but we're looking forward seeing a more transparent approach when it comes to advertising and sponsorship.

Dating apps like Tinder and Bumble may have a role to play in the increasing amount of sexually transmitted infections being reported in Ireland, according to doctors.

It's believed that the laid-back attitude associated with online dating may we changing the way we think about casual sex, thus contributing to the increased risk of exposure to STIs.

Dr Ilona Duffy believes that young people are showing less concern for things like unplanned pregnancy and infections, than the generations before them.

"We're seeing the likes of Tinder, other websites where people are hooking up purely for sex and people, young people especially, don't have the same hang ups as they had years ago – worrying about pregnancy, worrying about STIs, worrying just about their reputation," she said.

"So it is very different. While it is fine to be on Tinder etc and meeting up people for casual sex – you've got to take precautions and I think that's not out there," she said.

She also said that an improvement in Ireland's sex education system is need to decrease the prevalence of STIs in Irish society.

However, she did point out that the growing number of sexual health clinics around the county could behind the inflated figures.

To protect yourself from STIs, make sure to use condoms during every sexual encounter, and avail of free, regular STI screenings.

North Dublin commuters will soon see their journey times shortened with the introduction of a new bus service connecting Finglas to the Luas Green Line at Broombridge.

A preliminary agreement has reportedly been reached between the National Transport Authority and Dublin Bus, with both parties backing plans for the new route to be put in place as soon as possible.

Its understood that the service could be up and running as soon as March 2018.

Fine Gael Deputy Noel Rock said he is hopeful the new bus route may pave the way for the Luas being extended out to Finglas.

"Historically Finglas has been badly underserved by public transport," he said.

"I have campaigned for, first of all, a bus link to connect Finglas with the existing Luas line and then to demonstrate the demand that is there in order to maybe demonstrate the case for building out a Luas extension into Finglas in the future," the Fine Gael TD added.

Thought we were over the worst of the bad weather? Think again.

The entire country looks set for another week of low temperatures, strong winds and heavy rain.

Widespread showers are expecting tonight, followed by southwesterly winds will become westerly in direction as the rain clears.

Temperatures will be slightly higher than the past few days with highs of eight to 10 degrees – though these figures will drop by dawn.

Tomorrow will bring a mixture of bright sunshine and blustery showers, with some turning wintery in the north and west of the country.

Winds will be strong and gusty with top temperature of four to eight degrees.

It's a similar story for the rest of the week with temperatures expected to dip as low minus one overnight.

Wind and rain will continue right throughout the week, though early indications suggest these will ease by the weekend.

A winter holiday has never looked more appealing…

Cushioning, submarining, hyping – we've almost lost count of all the awful dating trends that have emerged over the last year or so.

It's hard enough trying to navigate through the world of romance, let alone having to worry about all the little ways our potential partners can destroy our faith in love.

And the latest trend might just be the worst yet.

If you've ever been involved with someone, whether that be a casual fling or a full blown relationship, there's a very high chance you or your partner have engaged in a little thing the experts like to call 'micro-cheating'.

Micro-cheating is described as the act of flirting with someone behind your partners back, and while no physical content is made, its effects can devastate even the most stable of relationships.

Of course, flirting is a natural human behaviour, and something we can do without even realising, but how far does it have to go before it can be considered unfaithful?

Well, speaking about the phenomenon, dating expert, Melanie Schilling told The Huffington Post:

“Micro-cheating is a series of seemingly small actions that indicate a person is emotionally or physically focused on someone outside their relationship”.

She explains that examples of micro-cheating include texting someone in secret, lying about your relationship status or having someone saved under a fake name on your phone.

Of course, there's a chance that all these things could be completely innocent and not intended to cause hurt to a significant other, but ongoing secrecy could indicate illicit behaviour.

"If you feel you have something to hide, ask yourself why," she says.

So, what should you do if you become a victim of micro-cheating?

Confront your partner? Say nothing and wait it out?

Melanie has some advice:

“The first thing you need to establish is the intention behind the behaviour.

“If this is an unconscious habit your partner has developed over time, due to previous partners allowing it, then you have the opportunity to put your foot down and set some new rules.

“However, if this is something they are actively choosing to do, and they do not change when you ask them to, perhaps it's time to consider if this relationship is good for your well-being.”

In short, no one should ever be made to feel paranoid or unwanted, so if you find yourself suffering at the hands of your partner's behaviour, it might be time to reevaluate the relationship.

The girlfriend of British politician Henry Bolton has been suspended from the Ukip party after she reportedly made racist comments about Prince Harry's fiancee, Meghan Markle.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Jo Marney, a 25-year-old glamour model, used a number of racist slurs while referring to the future Duchess.

In a series of highly offensive messages sent to a friend, Ms Marney reportedly said Harry's “black American” fiancee would “taint” the Royal Family blood line and pave the way for a “back king”.

She allegedly went on to say refer to Meghan as “a dumb little commoner” who is “obsessed with race.”

In a statement to the paper, the young party member said: “I apologise unreservedly for the shocking language I used. The opinions I expressed were deliberately exaggerated in order to make a point and have, to an extent, been taken out of context. Yet I fully recognise the offence they have caused.”

‘No offence was intended and, again, I apologise unreservedly for any such offence or hurt that my messages have caused to members of the public, members of Ukip my friends, family and loved ones. ‘I have disappointed them all and let myself down. I cannot sufficiently express my regret and sadness at having done so.’

Ukip leader, Henry Bolton, who's relationship with Jo is under investigation by the party, confirmed that she was “immediately” suspended following the claims.

The pair's relationship became public earlier this month after the Ukip leader confirmed that he had changed his “relationship status” in recent weeks.

Henry, 54, began seeing the young party member after leaving his wife Tatiana, with whom he shares two children.

In the wake of the controversy, former Ukip leadership candidate Ben Walker has called for Mr Bolton to resign, accusing him of having “deeply flawed judgement.”

Ant McPartlin has revealed that he and his wife Lisa Armstrong will divorce after 11 years of marriage.

In a statement issued by his representative, he shared, “In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after eleven years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin.”

Both Ant and Lisa have asked for respect and privacy during this harrowing time.

He added, “No further statement will be made."

According to The Sun, the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here host decided to end their relationship.

The couple met at the Smash Hits tour in 1994 when they were in their late-teens. After 11 years of dating the British TV presenter asked for Lisa’s hand in marriage.

Ant and Lisa got married at St Nicholas' Church in Taplow, Buckinghamshire in 2006.

The pair have faced many hurdles throughout the years, including Ant’s addiction to super-strength painkillers, which put a strain on their relationship.

The Britain’s Got Talent host checked himself into rehab for drink and drug addictions in 2017, following a failed knee operation which left him in a great deal of pain.

Speaking about his time in rehab, Ant admitted, “I've put Lisa through hell with mood swings and depression and how it affects you.”

“I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that, I am truly sorry,” he told The Sun.

"I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time."

Earlier this week, it was reported that Mark Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million for a 10-day reshoot of Ridley Scott's All The Money in the World, while his co-star, Michelle Williams, was paid just $80 a day.

Some 22 scenes needed to be reshot after Kevin Spacey, who was originally lined-up to star in the film, was accused of sexual harassment by a number of young males.

Ridley made the immediate decision to re-cast Christopher Plummer in the leading role, resulting in a 10-day reshoot at the cost of $10 million.

However, reports of a huge pay discrepancy between the male and female co-stars sparked huge backlash online and across the media.

In the wake of the controversy, Mark Wahlberg has pledged to donate his earnings from the reshoot to the Time's Up campaign – an initiative fronted by some of Hollywood's most influential female stars to help those that have suffered sexual abuse or harassment in the workplace.

The actor made the announcement in a tweet posted on Saturday, saying: “Over the last few days my reshoot fee for All The Money in the World has become an important topic of conversation.”

“I 100 per cent support the fight for fair pay and I'm donating the $1.5M to the Time's Up Legal Defence Fund in Michelle Williams' name."

The tweet has since been liked and shared over 40,000 times.

In addition, talent agency William Morris Endeavor, who represent both Williams and Wahlberg, said they would donate an additional $500,000 to Time’s Up.

Given the interest the public had in Kate Middleton's wedding to Prince William back in 2011, it's no real surprise that that fascination is somewhat intensified when you throw a Hollywood star into the mix.

So, ever since news broke that Prince Harry had gotten down on bended knee and popped the question to actress, Meghan Markle, fans of the couple have speculated over what to expect from the couple's big day.

And more specifically, what to expect from Meghan's choice of gown, hair style and bridal bouquet. While we remain in the dark over the first two, royal tradition means we're given a sneak peek into the third.

Reports confirm that the former Suits actress will be following in the footsteps of the Queen, Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge when it comes to her floral arrangement, and will be carrying a sprig of myrtle up the aisle.

Myrtle is an evergreen shrub which symbolises love and marriage, and is understood to come from Queen Victoria’s own flower garden in the Isle of Wight, which is now 170 years old.

Meghan will be marrying Prince Harry on May 19 this year.

Those extra amounts you pay for using credit or debit cards rather than cash seem like so little, but they really do add up.

Thankfully, though, the EU ban on card surcharges comes into effect today, Newstalk reports.

This EU directive is meant to make electronic payments safer, faster, and easier. It bans additional charges for payments with debit or credit cards online or in shops.

Imagine all the money we'll save! In fact, Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commission vice-president in charge of financial services, said that this move could save EU consumers €550M a year.

The new rules will tighten security on electronic payments. They will also open the EU payment market to companies offering payment services.

As well, the directive will reduce customer liability for unauthorised payments. There is a new 'no questions asked' refund policy, with money reimbursed via direct debit in euro.

While we're just happy to see our wallets won't be so hard hit, EU politicians have said this is the next step 'towards a digital single market in the EU'.

"It will promote the development of innovative online and mobile payments, which will benefit the economy and growth," Valdis told Newstalk.

However, apparently some at the UK's Consumer Council are worried that shops will increase their prices to make up for the loss of card surcharges, the Irish Times reports.

"Already there is evidence of some companies replacing the card surcharge with a ‘service charge’. We may also see more businesses impose a minimum spending limit or a refusal of card payments altogether," the Consumer Council told the Irish Times.

"However, in spite of these fears, we believe the ban is a positive move as prices should become more transparent, making shopping around and price comparison easier for consumers."

Hmm… does anyone else have the sudden urge to do some online shopping?

On December 31, well-known YouTuber, Logan Paul, deemed it appropriate to upload footage of a man who had taken his own life in a forest in Japan.

The backlash was swift and severe, and in spite of Logan's two apologies, YouTubers have been quick to turn their back on him.

However, a decline in popularity is by far the least significant outcome of the ill-advised decision, with authorities in Japan asserting that 22-year-old Paul could face charges should he return to Japan.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, Taihei Ogawa, one of Japan's most decorated and well-respected former police officers, said: "It’s not an issue that you’re Japanese or a foreigner—but that you’re breaking the law."

"And you’re showing these lawless acts to thousands of people who follow you on YouTube, which sets a bad example," he added.

"Even if you did things as a prank, you damaged property, you bothered people, you obstructed the work of innocent people trying to make an honest living, you were rude to many and you were a pain in the ass."

Paul's potential charges would include destruction of property, public indecency, interference with business operations and traffic violations.
