The fierce Lena Dunham is fighting for women everywhere, one nude photo at a time.

The influencer celebrated the nine-month anniversary of her hysterectomy with gorgeous photos of her body.

Posted on Instagram, her revealing portraits exposed the rawness of her painful experience over the past few years in a way that has resonated with women everywhere.

“I’ve never celebrated the 9 month anniversary of anything and I realized last night why that number feels so funny- I won’t ever do it the way I planned to.

“My body is mostly healed and every day I find a new bruise on my heart, but today I offer myself gratitude: from the most pained place, I somehow knew to choose myself.”

Today is National Leathercraft Day, National Relaxation Day and National Lemon Merengue Pie Day. It’s also the 9 month anniversary of my hysterectomy. I’ve never celebrated the 9 month anniversary of anything and I realized last night why that number feels so funny- I won’t ever do it the way I planned to. My body is mostly healed and every day I find a new bruise on my heart, but today I offer myself gratitude: from the most pained place, I somehow knew to choose myself. The purest glint of who we are and know we can be is always available to us, calm and true at our center. My friend Paul named my uterus Judy, and when she was being uppity we called her out, hence the tattoo on my ribs, which hurt like fuck even through the pain meds: #RIPJudy. Today I give thanks for Judy, for her graceful exit and for this body, which is stronger than I’ve ever given it credit for. Happy Giving Birth To Myself Day.

The American actress was diagnosed with endometriosis, a condition where cells of endometrial-like tissue migrate outside of the uterus and attach to other places in the body.

These cells are structured to break down and bleed, but they cannot escape through a period if mislocated. This results in extreme pain that varies as hormone levels change, according to Endometriosis UK.

The condition affects one in ten women in the UK, and along with agonising pain, it often causes infertility.

After three hospitalisations within a year, Lena was unable to bear the terrible symptoms any further and decided to undergo a hysterectomy. She wrote about her life-changing experience in a moving letter.

“All along the way, a massive fear of mine was ‘being discovered,’ that someone would decide I wasn't strong enough for my work or my life because of what I dealt with physically and emotionally. But I am strong because of what I've dealt with.”

Now, the Girls star is reflecting on endometriosis in honour of her hysterectomy anniversary with a powerful statement.

“The purest glint of who we are and know we can be is always available to us, calm and true at our center,” she said in celebration of her health. Lena urged women to remember, no matter what we are going through, that we can always find ourselves through the pain and trauma. Somewhere buried under all that hardship is a strong and powerful woman capable of digging herself out.

The actress explained her friend named her uterus Judy, and Lena has a tattoo in tribute to her lost, physical symbol of womanhood that reads ‘RIP Judy’.

“Today I give thanks for Judy, for her graceful exit and for this body, which is stronger than I’ve ever given it credit for. Happy Giving Birth To Myself Day.”

But the courageous actress is clear to convey that a woman's femininity does not lie in her levels of estrogen or her functioning uterus. It is defined by her strength to carry on and fight for her true self to shine through whatever obstacles life throws her way.

Lena continues to be a bold advocate for women’s health and openly sharing about her chronic condition has helped raise awareness of endometriosis and it’s painful symptoms.

“I am no longer scared of my body,” she declared. “In fact, I listen to it when it speaks. I have no choice but to respect what it tells me, to respect the strength of its voice and the truth of my own.”

Modelling is see as the ultimate in glamorous career paths – the jet set lifestyle, beautiful clothing and legions of adoring fan online and IRL.

However, it's also a cut-throat industry, where a 'new face' can be disposed of after a single season, 20-hour days are the norm, pressures come from drink and drug use, low weights are standard, and women can be exploited.

While in the 1980s and 90s, the fashion industry revolved around a few faces, the super models of the time, such as Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, it's not a changed landscape, with armies of models in each show and a wave of new, teenage models presenting a Fashion Week each season.

A post shared by @supermodels_work on

In an effort to alleviate the exploitation of young women in an industry which currently relies heavily on the labour of teenage girls, Vogue has pledged to only book models aged 18 and over.

The iconic fashion tome is hailing the rest of the industry to follow suit.

'When Brooke Shields, then fourteen, graced the February 1980 cover of Vogue, she was an outlier, writes Vogue's Maya Singer.

A post shared by Kaia (@kaiagerber) on

'Since then, models in their mid-teens have appeared in many of our fashion editorials. No more: It’s not right for us, it’s not right for our readers, and it’s not right for the young models competing to appear in these pages.'

'While we can’t rewrite the past, we can commit to a better future.'

Modelling is a highly stressful, highly physical job, and taking the pressure off teenagers from contributing to the industry can only be a good thing.

There have been reports of scammers claiming to be an iTunes employee contacting people and requesting payment for money they claim is owed.

The scammers insist the victim buy an iTunes gift card as payment and ask for the 16 digit gift card number.

The anonymous cons recently tried to trick a business in Cork into sending them money. A request was made via email, sent by a person claiming to be the Manager of the company.

The message asked a staff member to purchase €2,000 of iTunes gift cards and send on the voucher numbers, but thankfully the employee contacted their Manager by phone to verify the request, suspicious of the sender's intent.

Gardaí say to be cautious of the ongoing scam and watch out for any phone calls, voicemails or emails from scammers claiming to be a representative of an organisation.

They may claim that you owe money and insist on immediate payment by a gift card. In some cases, victims are told they are facing criminal charges.

The scammer may know some information about you, so be sure not to trust them just because they use your name or have other personal details.

Detective Superintendent Healy warned: "We fear that this is an emerging scam and would urge people to be vigilant. The retailers of such cards should also be vigilant.

“Please remember, If you are NOT purchasing an item from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or an Apple Music membership, do not make a payment with iTunes Gift Cards.

“There's no other instance in which you'll be asked to make a payment with an iTunes Gift Card. If you fear you have been a victim of this scam or any other scam for that matter, please pick up the phone and call Gardaí”.

The iTunes gift card scam is just one of many that have recently surfaced in Ireland and the public is advised to continue to exercise extreme caution when answering phone calls.

We're all a little bit guilty of using the aul filter a bit too much when we're uploading our snaps to Instagram.

Magazine covers are photoshopped and social media is filled with images that have been tweaked and edited.

Unfortunately, we rarely see what people actually look like.

Thankfully, Urban Decay have taken to Instagram to show un-retouched skin, and it's actually very important.

The brand have chosen models with skin texture, freckles, and actual, visible pores. (Yes!)

The images are beautifully striking and show off Urban Decay's products in all of their glory – without any filters altering them.

The response that the images have gotten on social media says it all – people want to see more of reality when it comes to beauty.

People took to social media to express their delight, writing, ''finally the beautiful reality is revealed. No more plastic photoshop surgery. Way to go!'' and ''I love seeing real skin texture!''

Another person said, ''this is unedited picture is both a delight to look at and a confidence present for all the girls in the world.''

It's about time that major make-up brands are taking steps to highlight people who aren't naturally flawless (which is all of us btw).

Scars, freckles, lines, sun spots, line is what makes us all unique, so maybe it will make people think twice about popping a filter on every time.

And hopefully other brands will follow Urban Decay's footsteps because we think it looks unreaaal!

They continued: “We have been deeply touched by the incredible outpouring of love and support we have received from close friends, supporters and fans all around the world. Thank you for your compassion and prayers.”

We know it's still a while away but we're seriously buzzing for Halloween.

Craving pumpkins, stuffing our face with eyeball-shaped sweets and, of course, indulging in scary movies makes it one of our fave times of year.

So while we'll deffo be seeing the latest Halloween, we can now add Goosebumps 2 because who didn't bloody love these books as a kid?

I was obsessed with the weird and wonderful stories by R.L Stine even though they scared the sh*t out of me tbh.

Goosebumps hit our screens in 2015 and starred Jack Black as creator Stine.

This  time around, the movie follows two teenage boys (the up-and-coming Jeremy Ray Taylor and Caleel Harris) in a small town who stumble upon a manuscript in an abandoned house that used to be owned by R. L. Stine called "Haunted Halloween."

They open it, unknowingly releasing Slappy (Avery Lee Jones), who plans to cause a Halloween Apocalypse with his monster allies and the teens have gotta stop him.

If you're looking for laughs and spooks mixed in with a bit of nostalgia then you can't miss Goosebumps 2 this Halloween.

It hits cinemas worldwide on October 12th – see ya there.

In response to the papal visit this weekend, those impacted by the discovery made at the Tuam Mother and Babies Home will gather in peaceful vigil.

Survivors of the home and relatives of infants found on the grounds will host their vigil at the same time as the papal Mass in Phoenix Park.

The vigil will be held in Galway on August 26th.

'Pope Francis needs to make a public statement saying he is sorry for what was done in the name of the church in the past, rather than meeting victims in private,' Historian Catherine Corless told The Irish Times.

Ms Corless worked tirelessly to trace the death certificates of 796 who resided at the Tuam site.

'I cannot see what the problem is with a public statement of apology.'

Last year, significant numbers of human remains were found in what appeared to be a septic waste unit at the site.

'These remains involved a number of individuals with age-at-death ranges from approximately 35 foetal weeks to 2-3 years,” said The Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation.

'Radiocarbon dating of the samples recovered suggest that the remains date from the timeframe relevant to the operation of the Mother and Baby Home. The homes ran from 1925 to 1961.'

The site had been undergoing excavations to investigate sub surface anomalies that were considered worthy of investigation.

The singer recently shared how he proposed to his wife, Ayda Fields, and the story is straight from a Rom-Com.

The power couple has recently celebrated their eight year anniversary, reflecting on all the wonderful milestones they have accomplished together.

Just last week, Ayda posted a photo of their wedding day, celebrating her and her husband’s strength to brave the ‘journey’ they have travelled together.

“Thank you for taking the midnight train to anywhere with me. It's been the journey of a lifetime. Happy Anniversary! I love you!”

It seems the Let Me Entertain You singer has reciprocated his wife’s public declaration of love.

In honour of Romance Awareness Month, Robbie posted an adorable photo of the two laughing and holding hands.

The singer wistfully looked back at how he proposed to the love of his life.

“Every time I used to think of Ayda and pull a card from a deck it would always be a queen, so I took her to the place that I first laid my eyes on her and gave her four queens.

“Each card said one word each. Will… You… Marry… Me?”
