Bad news for fans of Ru Paul's Drag Race.

Up until now, avid viewers of the show were free to binge watch any season of the show on Netflix.

However, the streaming service has announced that as of April 30, seasons two through seven will be removed from the service.

'Unfortunately series 2-7 will be leaving at the end of the month,' a Netflix spokesperson told Pink News.

'Sadly, this is due to rights and licensing issues.'

'However, the remaining series will still be available on the system.'

A petition has been conceived in protest of the series' removal.

'On the 30th of April 2018 Ru Paul’s drag race seasons 2-7 are going to be taken of Netflix. This is unacceptable,' reads the petition, which has over 28,000 signatures.

'RuPaul drag race is a groundbreaking show which has not only opened up the minds of millions to knew ideas, but also showed everyone who has watched this incredible show that it’s okay to be who they are.'

'Without this show on Netflix the messages that it’s sharing will be closed if to many who need it most.'

We're adding our names right this minute…

The sun is out, and after such an endless winter, it would be a crime to stay indoors and not enjoy the gorgeous weather.

And what would make us happier then a few cold cans on the canal? Nothing, but ice cream is good too.

This delicious recipe is easy to make and you'll bloody love them.

Seriously, you'll end up eating them all.

Ice-cream sandwiches

Ingredients

For the cookies

  • 100g sugar
  • 200g butter, at room temperature
  • 300g flour

For the filling

  • 500ml vanilla ice cream (or any flavour of your choice)
  • Optional: sugar sprinkles or mini chocolate chips, to decorate

Method

1. Heat oven to 180°C. Prepare two large baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together. Add the flour and continue to mix until the mixture turns into a soft dough. Using your hands, press the dough together to form a ball.

3. With a floured rolling pin, roll the dough about 4 to 5 mm thick on a floured surface. Using a small round cookie cutter, cut into discs and place on prepared baking sheets.

4. Bake for 16-18 minutes then let cool completely.

5. Place a scoop of ice cream on one cookie, then place another cookie on top and press slightly. You can dip the sandwich in sugar sprinkles or mini chocolate chips if desired. Freeze until ready to serve.

i wish i could say i’ve been waking up at 5:30am for meditation and morning hikes my entire adult life, but that would be a lie. today on the blog, i’m sharing my personal story about my dark past with alcohol, partying, and how i ended the addictive cycle before it ended me. alcohol, drugs, and partying are an acceptable part of our youth culture. we are just ‘getting it out of our system’ and ‘living life to the fullest!’ and while that was true for me at first, it became another way for me to numb myself and it spiraled out of control and drove me down a dark lonely path of self-sabotage. when leaving a life of partying and alcohol behind, it can be extremely isolating trying to make new friends who have similar interests, especially in a new city. in the blog post, i share how i formed a new community of like-minded people who supported me and shared similar interests. i also share some tips for navigating the dating world when #sobercurious, how to own your choices and overcome the “peer pressure” we can feel when saying NO. knowing whats best for you and your body is empowering. let your choices uplift you and set you free. link is in bio  #sobercurious #leefromamerica

It’s weeks like this that I realise how much I love cooking and being in my own kitchen! #domesticprincess #missyou I mentioned/warned you guys that these next three weeks were going to be INSANE for me! I’m trying my hardest to keep you in the loop and keep you up to date with my eBook, meet up, fruit & nut mix launch on Monday, activewear restock, YouTube uploads, protein balls news and more so I haven’t even had time to grocery shop, let alone cook! SOOO I’ve pretty much become a master at ordering takeout and grabbing meals on the go. I usually always go for some kind of dense salad or nourish bowl. I make sure there’s some nice, healthy fats in there like avocado, nuts and seeds, as well as loads of veggies!! Sometimes I get boiled eggs, chicken or salmon and other times I’ll gravitate towards vegan falafels, chickpeas and lentils. I don’t restrict myself, and I try to keep my diet as colourful as possible!! While I’m feeling really time poor and exhausted right now, I’m genuinely so excited and blown away by everything that’s going on! I can’t wait to share some really REALLY exciting news with you. Stay tuned sissys. BIG things coming!!

When I was 11, my family from Boston came to visit.

It was so exciting, especially when the kids were all given a fiver each, and let wander up Grafton street – without adults.

Of course, our parents were near, and there were 5 of us in a little squad (safety in numbers).

We took our money and went straight to The Joke Shop, where we purchased candy cigarettes.

We stood outside the shop, a group of kids, and pretended to smoke – because we thought it was cool.

Fast forward 15 years, and I've traded in my candy smokes for the real deal (sadly, don't do it kids).

Anyway, I pondered this childhood memory today, and couldn't help but think how INAPPROPRIATE candy cigarettes are/ were.

Image result for candy cigarettes

Imagine if you saw a group of kids smoking fake smokes today? You'd probably be appalled.

I mean, I would be appalled, despite the inevitable Camel Blue that would be in my right hand at the time.

I looked into candy cigarettes, and discovered that they have in fact been banned in Ireland, and a number of other nations.

The old school sweet treats have also been banned in Brazil, Finland, Norway, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.

Honestly it just makes me LAUGH, at the thought that these sweets were a thing.

A very popular thing I might add.

And, while they may have been banned, you can actually still get them online, if you feel like reliving your youth.

Dare you?

Fresh out of a masters degree, I decided that it was time to fly the nest, and see what the world had to offer.

I longed for major hustle and bustle, and the excitement only a melting pot city can bring.

So, naturally, I packed my bags (all 4 of them) and headed to New York, the concrete bloody jungle.

All my life, I had dreamed of moving to New York, and even now, I've been home for almost three years – and I still plan to move back.

In fact, I'd go in the morning, given half a chance.

But I digress…

I loved my time in the Big Apple, the city, the lights, the new and amazing friends I met, that I still speak to every week.

I set myself up nicely, a gorgeous house with my close friends, a glamorous internship in a fashion PR company, and a cheeky bar job.

However, as amazing as my time was, there were days that I desperately longed for the comforts of home.

You find yourself missing the small, insignificant things that you'd usually take for granted.

I missed the familiarity of home. You know exactly where your going and how you're going to get there – whether it's a bar or a party.

In NYC, I found myself whipping out Google maps for the first few months, in a desperate attempt to get to where I needed to go.

After a while, I got the hang of it, but I still had those days where I got on the wrong subway, or took a wrong turn.

I also missed the little comforts of home. Up until the day I moved to New York, I lived at home with my parents, my brother and my STUNNING dog.

I never had to think about stuff like furnishing a home, buying toilet paper or even stocking the fridge – it was always done for me (yes, I know, spoiled brat etc).

So while I was away, my meals consisted of yoghurt, sparkling water, and bags and bags of pasta. Nutritious.

I also really missed the craic.

No offence to Americans (I love you all), but there is something truly unique about the Irish sense of humour.

There were days where I'd spend minutes laughing at my own jokes, only to realise that my mates had absolutely no idea why it was funny.

You know what I missed most?

A good dose of tea and biscuits, while having the chats with my mum.

Seems kind of silly, but there is honestly nothing I love more than coming home after a long day, and flicking the kettle on.

Pour up mugs of tea, devour the packet of chocolate digestives you have in the press, and have a good little gossip session.

Yes. Yes it bloody is. #nyc #whoneedsarealman #thankssophie

Those special moments you share with your mum at the kitchen table, or on the couch.

Not major milestones like birthdays, the simple sweet things in life (like a great cuppa and a biscuit)

You can't beat it.

However, New York… I'll be back, keep my seat warm.

For someone so much younger than us, we sure do look up to Millie Bobby Brown.

The 14-year-old impressed us all when she first appeared onscreen as the enigmatic Eleven in Stranger Things. The English actress possesses a quiet intensity and talent that would impress at any age.

She's gone on to win a Screen Actors Guild Award and is soon making her feature film debut in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Now, the accomplished teenager has added another accolade: the youngest ever person to be named on Time's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Millie joins the likes of #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, Nicole Kidman, Cardi B, Taoiseach Leo Varadker, John Krasinski, and Meghan Markle, who are also featured on the Time 100 list for 2018.

Her profile was written by another beloved TV actor, Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame. The dad-of-one said he 'superfanned' the 14-year-old, so he and his wife met up with her to get ice cream.

Aaron soon realised getting a casual cone with Millie may have been a belittling move:

"The moment we started speaking, I realised we were in the wrong setting. I had thought, Oh, she’s 12, let’s get ice cream. No.

"She may have been 12 in years, but her spirit and mind were timeless. A wise woman was speaking from her cherubic face."

He continued,"It was like speaking to a future mentor with a perspective and groundedness that I could only have dreamed of at that age. Or at any age, if I’m being honest.

"Maybe that’s why she’s such an extraordinary actor. She somehow understands the human experience as if she has lived it for a thousand years. I’m proud to know her. To call her a friend. To call her my adopted daughter."

We are so thrilled for Millie; with her poise and talent, she deserves to make history.

The Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) and Dublin City Council (DCC) confirmed today that the official spring count on rough sleeping identified 110 persons sleeping rough across the Dublin region on the night of 27th March 2018 and into the morning of 28th March 2018.

The DRHE has been responsible for the delivery of rough sleeping counts in Dublin since 2007.

A total of 110 persons are confirmed as rough sleeping in Dublin in Spring 2018.

This is a 40% decrease in the number of individuals sleeping rough in Dublin from 184 in Winter 2017 to 110 in Spring 2018.

Of the 110 persons discovered sleeping rough:

  • 51 persons had a PASS record, 7 persons did not have a PASS record and of the remaining 52, there was insufficient details provided to ascertain whether they had a PASS record;

  • 58% of people were Irish national, 42% were non-Irish nationals and 31 individuals did not have their nationality identified.

  • 90 people were discovered in Dublin City (North and South) and the remaining 20 were located outside Dublin City, Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

  • 84% were male, and 16% were female.

Mr. Brendan Kenny, Deputy Chief Executive, Dublin City Council welcomed the decrease in the numbers of people sleeping rough and said “We have been working with our charity partners to increase emergency accommodation, and have in the last few months increased capacity by 260 permanent beds."

"This has had a significant positive outcome in terms of decreasing the numbers of people sleeping rough. However, the large number of people sleeping rough is still a serious area of concern and we will continue to work through the Housing First Service to engage with these people and work with them to access appropriate services.”

Unless you've been living under a rock you'll know that the renter's market in Dublin is a complete shambles right now. Rents are going up and students and young professionals are being forced to shell out crazy amounts of money just to have a roof over their heads.

Change is coming- although it may not seem like it from the window of that €800 a month box room- and that the head of that change is Anna O'Flynn, CEO of Generation Accommodation.

Originally from Westmeath, Anna is all to familiar with the struggle of finding student and young professional accommodation. She began studying Engineering in UCD and changed to Economic and Maths after 18 months. It was then she first discovered Enactus.

“It was a Monday evening and I wanted to go home then go back out on a night out. A friend convinced me to go along to this Enactus meeting with her. To be honest, I hadn't a clue what it was about.”

Enactus are "a charitable organisation which develops future talent by enabling third level students to create, and implement, social entrepreneurial projects which positively impact our local and global communities."

But for Anna, Enactus means so much more than that.

“It’s all about empowerment. In college there’s all these charities that might do events to raise money and awareness but that’s only one day or one hour a week. I know it’s kind of corny, but the best way to describe it is really, give a man a fish and you feed him for a day but give him a net and you feed him for life.

"We’re empowering people to rethink the way charities and social enterprises run. We’re encouraging people to make a real difference."

During a training day, Anna's group, many of whom were from outside Dublin, realised that housing was one of the biggest issues faced by our generation.

"We had masters students from the US and Germany who had come over a week before their course began and ended up living in hostels until they found something."

But housing wasn't the only issue they wanted to tackle. Elderly isolation is also at an all time high in Ireland- and it's a lot more dangerous than one might think. Loneliness increases mortality rate in the elderly by 26%, worse than both smoking and obesity.

“We also had some people from Dublin on the team who had lovely neighbours. They would pass them on the street and would stop for the chats because that might be the only person they talk to all day.

"One of the girls had a grandmother near UCD who was living alone. Many of the elderly people are living alone as their families aren't around or are living abroad."

So they thought- why not encourage students and young professionals to live with retired people with a spare room? So Generation Accommodation was born.

“I thought we were mad, we were only a group of students- how could we possibly make this work?”

Finding potential renters wasn't an issue on UCD's teeming campus- but reaching homeowners proved to be more of a challenge.

"We put up posters for events and coffee mornings but we didn't have much luck. It can be difficult to get people to trust you when you’re basically telling them to open their homes to a stranger.”

So Anna opted for a more personal approach. The GA team  presented at a post-mass coffee morning in Mount Merrion parish hall. Luckily for them, they had their first taker.

“Once one person does it and their friends see them do it and see it’s a reputable source, it definitely makes a difference. They also see that we do everything to mitigate the risk associated with renting out. After that first hurdle there were far more homeowners willing to try us.”

The benefits of shared accommodation are palpable on both sides. For the renters, they can avail of extremely reasonable rent, as well as all the creature comforts of a home away from home. Anna also cites the "cultural difference" between the two generations as an advantage- to give the younger people "a different way of seeing things". Especially for foreign students, who can get the "real Irish experience" of being immersed in a local household.

For the homeowners, the increased security of having someone that they can depend on in the house is extremely important. The homeowners self-select who they rent to, promoting a good relationship between the two.

“Meeting the renters really humanizes them. There’s this stereotype that students are wild party animals and in the vast majority of cases it’s simply not true. Many of them may be fourth years or masters students who just really want to knuckle down and study.

“That’s why the coffee mornings are so important- they get to meet the person instead of the stereotype."

On a day to day basis, having someone checking in on the retiree can make a massive difference to their quality of life.

“Even during the recent cold spell the renter were able to pop down to the shop for a few bits instead of the elderly person having to venture out in the snow and ice by themselves."

This year, GA merged with the social enterprise Inhoming and will be officially relaunching in the near future.

The future is also looking bright for Anna, right now she's busy matching applicants to suitable homes, and has plans in the works to launch GA nationwide, with one eye on overseas expansion.

Feeling like you might have the next big social enterprise idea? Anna's advice to is utilise any supports you can find.

“There are so many support and programmes out there. Ireland has relatively small network as well so it’s easy to get to know different people and opportunities.

“Say yes to different opportunities, it’s amazing what doors will open.

"If I hadn't said yes to that first meeting I wouldn't be where I am today.”

18-year-old Joe Moreno from Texas knew that there was only one special lady he wanted to ask to prom. No it wasn't his high school sweetheart or crush, but his mother.

His mum Vanessa had never attended her own prom. She had dropped out of school at the age of 17 in order to give her son the best life possible.

Joe spared no expense for the date, even buying her corsage and picking her up.

Sharing pictures of the fabulous evening on Twitter, he went viral. Not only did his selflessness resonate with many people, but many commented on how radiant Vanessa looked.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Joe said that he had always planned on bringing his mum to the prom, and has even cleared it with the school before the event.

"Me and my mum have a unique relationship, she has really pushed me to do the best and focus on the important things like school. My mum is also a great and caring individual who loves to have fun, through vacations and all. She has pushed me and my two younger siblings to be the very best."

Vanessa told the New York Post , that it was a perfect evening.

"Sometimes people don’t know the sacrifices us mothers make. We just hope that it does get seen, and I am so glad my son did see my sacrifice and wanted to give back. It meant the world to me."

Joe added that they didn't expect to go viral.

"Me and my mom didn't really expect it to go viral. I love my mum with all my heart. I hope something that people would take away from the story would be to feel grateful for parents and their sacrifices. Cherish your parents and always make sure to give back."

What an amazing young man!
