Indulging in a spot of shopping is one of the nicest treats you can give yourself, and now you can actually help others with your sartorial splurging.

From Friday April 28 to Monday, May 1, Dundrum Town Centre will be playing host to a Shop for Good charity fundraising initiative for the fourth year running.

Aiming to raise funds and awareness for the charity Pieta House, Dundrum Town Centre has created a four day shopping event in the behemoth mall.

The way it works is that customers are asked to purchase Shop for Good coupons for €1.00 from pop-up booths around the centre.

100 per cent of the proceeds made from the sale of the coupons will go to Pieta House, and customers can use the coupons to avail of fantastic discounts across a huge range of stores and restaurants in Dundrum Town Centre.

'We are delighted that Pieta House is the nominated charity for the Dundrum Town Centre Shop For Good initiative,' said Brian Higgins, Pieta House CEO.

'We are so grateful for such initiatives because they serve to highlight the work that we’re doing at Pieta House.'

'It’s because of the generosity of people across Ireland that we are able to keep our services free of charge and are so happy to say that more than 29,000 people have accessed them since the day we opened 11 years ago.'

Pieta House is a free crisis centre offering counselling, therapy and support to individuals suffering with suicide thoughts and self-harm.

They also support individuals and families who have been bereaved by suicide.

This initiative is going to support this extremely worthy cause, so get shopping nd know that every coupon used is helping those in need of mental health support.

Love gin?

Well apparently, so does the rest of the country, because there are a number of gin festivals being held on the Emerald Isle this summer.

Here's a low down of all the best ones we have found:

1. Irish Gin & Tonic Festival

The Irish Gin & Tonic Festival is returning to Ireland this summer.

Running from June 25 to July 1, the nationwide celebration of some of Ireland’s best gin is back.

Any licensed bar, restaurant or hotel in Ireland can get involved by showcasing one of the many festival Irish gins served with a tonic of their choice for the week of the festival, and registration for the festival is free, so encourage your favourite bar to get involved.

2. Ginfusion

Ginfusion is coming to Dublin, and will be residing at the Bernard Shaw.

Celebrating and showcasing a host of different ways to enjoy the versatile beverage, the event will run across four days and nights on the June bank holiday weekend.

And best of all? Admission is FREE.

3. The Burren Slow Food Festival

So we all love gin, but we also have a penchant for cheese, and this festival brings the two together.

Taking place on May 12 to May 14, the festival promises to bring together food producers, chefs and writers for a weekend of talks, demonstrations and workshops.

4. Ranelagh Gin Fest

If you have a hankering for gin ASAP and can't wait until summer, then the Ranelagh Gin Fest, on April 28 to May 1 could be for you.

As well as being located in one of Dublin's most pleasant areas, the G&Ts at this festival are far from overpriced, at a very reasonable €6.00.

Hosted by The Hill pub, there are a number of delicious concoctions to try.

Tánaiste and Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald has spoken out about the Citizens' Assembly decision to replace or amend the 8th amendment.

The Minister told RTÉ  that 'the Constitution is not the place to deal with this very complex issue.'

'It's best dealt with between a woman and her doctors.'

'But of course you also have to have an appropriate legislative basis. My own thinking is that there should be a referendum next year.'

'Over the next few months, the all-party Oireachtas committee will consider the Assembly's advice and refine it into a proposal that can be put to the people,' said Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadaker, in a statement obtained by RTÉ.

'I believe that once this has been done, a final proposal should be put in a referendum in 2018 so that the people can have their say.'

The Citizens' Assembly voted in favour of access to abortions without restrictions over the weekend.

Despite an Amnesty International Ireland poll which found that 80 per cent of Irish people would vote yes in a referendum to repeal the the 8th amendment, Pro Life Campaign  spokesperson Cora Sherlock has said that 'it’s far from certain that it would pass.'

Musical icon, Sir Elton John, suffered a ‘’potentially deadly’’ bacterial infection during a flight from Santiago at the end of his South American tour earlier this month.

The legendary singer was forced to spend two nights in intensive care and cancel nine concerts that were due to take place in Las Vegas over the next two weeks.

After landing in the UK, Elton was rushed to hospital where he was treated for "a harmful and unusual bacterial infection."

According to BBC, a statement released by the singer’s management gave few details about the mysterious illness but did say the infections were "rare and potentially deadly."

Fortunately, Elton has been released from hospital and is now resting at home as per doctor’s orders.

"Thankfully, Elton's medical team identified this quickly and treated it successfully. He is expected to make a full and complete recovery," Elton’s management added.

The star is due to continue his Million Dollar Piano tour with a string of live performances in the UK from June 3.

In a statement, Sir Elton thanks his fans for their support and apologised for the cancelled shows.

"I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologise for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well."

A petition against the Sisters of Charity ownership over the new National Maternity Hospital has gathered over 91,000 signatures, and now a new poll has shown that the majority of Irish people are against the move.

An RTÉ poll found that 86 per cent of people do not want the Catholic Church to have any role in maternity services in Ireland.

The survey was conducted for the Claire Byrne Live programme.

The results come after protests had been staged outside the Department of Health against the Sisters of Charity involvement and a petition had since gone viral against their role.

'The Sisters of Charity is one of 18 residential institutions that is highlighted by the Ryan report 2009 to have been responsible for child abuse,' reads the petition manifesto.

'They still owe €3 million to the redress scheme for its survivors. The Sisters of Charity, along with three other religious congregations, were responsible for the management of Magdalene Laundries.'

'In 2013 they stated they would not be making ANY contributions to the State redress scheme to the women who had been subject abuse in the Magdalene Laundries.'

Minister for Health Simon Harris has attempted to reassure the public that there will be no Catholic influence on the health care provided to women at the new National Maternity Hospital.

'The identity and ethos of the current NMH will be retained,' reads a statement from the Department of Health.

'The new company will have clinical and operational independence in the provision of maternity, gynaecology and neonatal services, without religious, ethnic or other distinction, as well as financial and budgetary independence.'

However, a further poll shows that only 23 per cent of people surveyed believe the Minister's reassurances.

Tom Hardy has starred in some of the most successful action movies of the past decade, but on Sunday, the Max Mad actor brought some of his on-screen skills to the streets of London.

Two men had broken a red light before crashing the stolen moped they were riding into a £50,000 Mercedes at a busy junction.

Reports claim the actor was spotted chasing one of the thieves through gardens and building sites in London before making a citizen’s arrest on Sunday.

Tom then searched the man for weapons and waited with him until police officers came and made an official arrest.

An eyewitness told The Sun: "Tom must have been walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious."

He added, "I asked Tom what happened and he told me he chased him through my back garden and caught him around the block – but the route was like an assault course."

"I think he even checked the kid’s ID before cops took over."

Both men involved in the incident are reportedly facing charges.

According to the paper, Tom Hardy’s spokeswoman declined to comment.

You know when you're just about to take a big bite out of a lovely meal… and then a fly lands on it.

Most of the time you swat it away, right? Well, turns out you should probably bin it.

Why? When a fly lands on your food, it apparently gets sick. As in, it actually throws up on your grub. Lovely…

A recent survey asked participants what critter would make them run a mile from a restaurant: Rodents, flies, cockroaches, ants or snakes?

The majority said that cockroaches would make them flee, however scientists say that flies carry twice as many germs on them.

Flies aren't able to actually chew their food, so they have to throw up enzymes in order to slurp their grub up.

So, basically if a fly lands on your sambo and wants a bite, it will puke on it.

Also, flies like to eat things that we find revolting (trash, rotten animal carcasses, faeces), so the real danger when a fly lands on your food is actually it's body.

Germs from all those disgusting things a fly lands on clings to the hairs on the fly's body, so they pick up a host of bacteria and viruses.

So, moral of the story? Don't at anything a fly lands on. We definitely won't after finding this out.

Can you believe it's been 12 years since Step Up first debuted?

And for most of us, that movie was the introduction of Channing Tatum (anyone remember those cut-put magazine pictures of him that you'd stick up on your locker in school? Just me?).

Anyway, during the opening night of Magic Mike Live in Las Vegas, Channing and his Step Up co-star and wife, Jenna Dewan, told E! News that a reunion is on the cards.

"It's almost a probability," Channing said. "It's not even a chance it [won't happen]. It's just about when I can actually get a chance to get in shape to do it."

If all he needs to do is get in shape for the reunion, it could be happening sooner than we think.

Just as we were coming to terms with feathered brows, this new trend has caught us by surprise.

Say hello to barbed wire brows, the new way to style your eyebrows.

Barbed wire brow

A post shared by @athenapaginton on

Makeup artist Athena Paginton first shared this trend on her Instagram page last month, and with nearly 8,000 likes, people seem to be on board with making their brows look like pieces of wire.

Saying that though, the look is pretty simple to achieve. All you need to do is put some clear gel on your fingers and twist a few sections of each brow in opposite directions.

While some people will throw out anything that has the slightest sight of abnormality on it, there's always the ones that will cut off that mouldy corner of bread and proceed to make a ham and cheese sandwich.

And those people probably have reasons for doing so; mostly not to waste any food.

But, it turns out that if there's mould on your bread, you should just throw it out straight away.

Sliced Bread

A new study carried out in the US found that "with soft food, it's very easy for the roots [of the mould], or the tentacles, or whatever creepy word you want to use, to penetrate [deeper into the food]."

So, basically mould goes much further into the bread than we can actually see.

Marianne Gravely, a senior technical information specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture told NPR that while you may think you have some wiggle room with mould, it's best to just throw it out.

"I have seen mould spread from one slice to the next. I'm sure some people would really want to press the situation, but bread is cheap. Go buy some more."

Bread isn't the only food that prompts this problem, though. Soft fruit, jam and deli meat should also be thrown away if there's any sign of moulding.

However, harder foods such as chorizo, carrots, and hard cheeses can be salvaged by cutting off the mould since its roots aren't able to cut through their surfaces.

But to be on the safe side, Marianne recommends cutting off an additional inch of food around the mould.
