Yearly Archives: 2016

Well, you can't say we don't look good.

It has been revealed that Irish women spend a total of three days every year styling our gruaige.

A survey carried out by Great Lengths Hair Extensions found that the average Irish woman cares a lot about her hair, and all of these hours are mainly spent washing and blow drying.

Most ladies wash their hair every other day, with only 8 percent taking Kim Kardashian's approach of washing their hair every five days.

But if this is surprising to you, it probably shouldn't. Ireland has one of the highest rates in Europe for using foundation and fake tan. We're a glamorous bunch, right?

And it's not only the ladies taking up this much time for styling. Yep, the lads are in on it too, spending the same amount of time gelling and styling their locks.

And who won the prize for being our hair hero? None other than Vogue Williams, of course.

We're not even sure how we feel about this, ladies.

In a new video by Kourtney Kardashian, she shows us how to… eat a Kit Kat. Yep… a Kit Kat.

The reality star breaks it down into six steps, and while we know everyone has their quirks, we're not sure this is enough to make a video out of.

We think we're just going to sit back and eat our chocolate bars like normal people, thanks.

It seems like Donald Trump might NOT be allowed to enter our fair green isle.

TDs and senators have to discuss the outcome of two petitions calling for Donald Trump to be banned from coming to Ireland.

The Joint Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions have to address both petitions after Irish citizens were appalled by Donald's comments on banning Muslims from America.

Yet, it might not be so easy as the panel have to examine if the petitions comply with standing orders.

Last month, Enda Kenny said that Mr Trumps comments were "not acceptable."

However, Donald does own his very own hotel in Doonbeg, Co. Clare called Trump International Golf Links and Hotel, where he was warmly greeted in 2014, so for now, the outcome of these petitions is high up in the air.

We know diamonds are a girl's best friend, but we think that our dogs might just come above the sparkly stones.

Researchers have found that our pet dogs can sense what we're feeling by combining information from different senses.

Animal behaviour specialists and psychologists carried out a number of studies to suggest that dogs can tell the difference between positive and negative emotions, and apart from humans, they are the only other animals to possess such a trait.

As part of the research, seventeen dogs were shown two different pictures. One was of a happy human and the other was of an angry human.

Various sounds were then played to the dogs of a person's voice – again, one happy tone, and one angry tone.

The researchers found that most dogs matched the happy human with the happy tone of voice, and did the same for the angry picture and voice.

"Our study shows that dogs have the ability to integrate two different sources of sensory information into a coherent perception of emotion in both humans and dogs," said Dr Kun Guo from the University of Lincoln's School of Psychology.

"Our findings are the first to show that dogs truly recognise emotions in humans and other dogs."

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin might be all about the sexy selfies and blurry kissing photos on Instagram these days, but their relationship wasn't always so slick.

The pair, who have been friends for years, met for the first time back in 2009, when they were introduced by none other than Hailey's dad Steve Baldwin.

A clip, which appears to be taken backstage at Justin's My World concert, has surfaced online and it is all kinds of adorable.

Justin is seen shaking his fringe (cos why not) before Steve approaches him and says "This is my daughter Hailey. We’ve been enjoying your music."

A sullen-looking Hailey reaches out to shake Justin's hand and mutter "hi" in response to Justin's "pleased to meet you."

If Justin and Hailey really do turn out to be the real deal, we demand the clip be shown at their wedding.

Dublin commuters are sure to hit travel chaos next month as LUAS drivers are set to carry out two 48-hour strikes.

The strikes will take place on February 11 and 12, and a week later on February 18 and 19, which both fall on Thursdays and Fridays.

SIPTU trade union confirmed the news today and said that the overwhelming vote to take industrial action led to the decision for two day stoppages.

It will be the first strike for the tram company, as workers are demanding a pay increase of almost 54 percent.

OK, let's try not to freak out and totally fan-girl but the news is true, there will be a FULL Friends reunion soon.

NBC has confirmed that Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer will all take part in a special show to honour sitcom director James Burrows.

The special is going to air on Sunday, February 21, which possibly means they will be filming pretty soon.

However, NBC's Robert Greenblatt put a little spanner in the works: "Hoping that all six of them will be in the same room at the same time, but I'm not sure we can logistically pull that off," he said.

Will and Grace's Sean Hayes will be producing the special episode and the Will and Grace cast will also be included.

This is going to be one hell of a show.

2015 was by all means a rollercoaster year for the One Direction lads, after they lost a member, dropped some killer album tracks… and announced their hiatus.

The foursome revealed they'd be taking at least two years out from music, which you can safely assume probably means it'll be more like four or five years, unless they're offered a seriously good deal from their record company.

However a new source today suggests the lads have no plans to reunite EVER again – although the evidence supporting that definitely seems a bit shaky.

Niall, Harry, Louis and Liam decided "not to renew their recording contract" after wrapping their tour in October, the insider says.

"The 1D thing just ran its course. They’ll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers."

Considering this "hiatus" has always been sold as "at least two years," to us it seems like no surprise that a new contract wasn't signed.

But for some 1D fans, it's come as a bit of a shock:

The lads themselves have yet to address today's reports on their own social media, but we're guessing it won't be long.

Five schoolchildren are reportedly still missing after being swept away by an avalanche in the French Alps at around 4pm local time today.

The children were part of a group of around 10 students from Lyon who were skiiing in the Les Deux Alpes region with their teacher.

Four children are believed to have been found seriously injured, with some in a state of cardiac arrest according to local police. Their teacher was also found unconscious by a ski patrol.

All of those found were taken to hospital in nearby Grenoble.

According to the BBC, witnesses have reported that the avalanche seemed to have been triggered by a group skiing through the area.

Rescue helicopters and rescue personnel with dogs are still at the scene.

The Bellecombes piste is graded as a black slope, which is the steepest and most difficult rating.

Well, if we said we don't like Coppers, we're all clearly lying.

Last year, the owners of the infamous nightclub, Cathal and Paula Jackson, made profits of almost €5m, which is close to €95,000 per week and €13,500 per day. Wow.

At €4.94m, the profits were down by 11 percent from 2014, where the club made a profit of €5.5m.

The pay received by the Jacksons has not been made public, but in previous years they were paid €10,000 a week.

Copper Face Jacks employs 193 people, and total staff costs for the year was €3.75m.

The Harcourt club managed to stay alive and thriving as many other night clubs around Dublin and Ireland closed because of the recession.

Khloe Kardashian has finally spoken out about the ugly side of her ex-husband, Lamar Odom's overdose.

The reality star was on The Howard Stern Show this morning, and was quite frankly grilled about Lamar's near-death experience.

"I’ve said, "You do whatever the f*** you want to do, but please promise me you’ll never go back to a disgusting brothel again.

"If you want to pay someone, you can pay someone in the privacy of your hotel. Like, what are you doing?"

She added that, "He said he obviously wasn't thinking and he promised he wouldn't go back to a place like that." But unfortunately, he did.

Khloe did admit that she believes her and Lamar are soulmates, but she isn't in the right headspace to be with him again.

"You know, things change and life gets in the way and that's OK," she admitted. She just wants him to get better now.
