When a gal is content for her boyfriend to go naked paddle boarding in full view of the paparazzi, you imagine she's pretty chill about everything else in the relationship too.

But it sounds like Katy Perry picks and chooses her battles if a recent interview with Women's Wear Daily is anything to go by.

While naked watersports is a go'er, living in Malibu is most definitely not.

Not content with Orlando's decision to set up shop by the beach (is she serious?), Katy vented in a way which has many of us here at SHEmazing! HQ shaking our heads in confusion.

"My boyfriend lives in Malibu and getting used to that drive was, like, ‘Are you kidding me? What kind of life is this?"

"There’s no pop-over and I never really got used to Malibu ‘cause it’s halfway to Santa Barbara, so I’m always just going to Santa Barbara then." she sighed.

While she acknowledged the perks of living by the sea, she insisted that people were less likely to come visit due to the distance.

"I get the whole coming to L.A. and living by the beach thing," she admitted before adding "But it’s really… it’s so far, nobody who lives in town is going to come see you."

Jeez Katy, sounds like your wallet is too big for your fifties as well…

"Now they're trying to do this happy family thing. They refer to themselves as a family a lot," the source said.

Pinned above the bed of a young woman in the United States is a small drawing of two bicycles.

They act as a daily reminder that despite all she has endured since January 2015, there still exist heroes in her story.

Hers is a story which has, since it came to global attention at the beginning of the summer, acted as a platform for heated debate on rape culture and white male privilege.

Hers is a story of such notoriety it could have – and should have – signalled a considerable turnaround in the judicial system’s approach to rape cases.

Instead, hers became a story which compounded the well-worn argument that when it comes to victims of rape, they serve the life sentence while the perpetrator, if even convicted, is given ample opportunity to twist the facts until a rape is deduced to nothing more than drunken fumblings and crossed wires.

We have been taught to believe that good will always prevail, but as Brock Turner walked free from Santa Clara County jail last Friday, one can’t help but think that that saying holds as much water as ‘they all lived happily ever after’.

Brock Turner’s father described his son’s sexual penetration of an intoxicated person with a foreign object and his intent to commit rape of an intoxicated woman behind a dumpster on an American college campus last year as ‘20 minutes of action’.

And whether we want believe it or not, the American judicial system – and more specifically Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky – was of the same opinion.

Twenty minutes of action which brought the two male cyclists who happened upon it to tears, but hey, maybe they don’t know how this whole rape culture thing works.

While prosecution in the case pushed for a six-year sentence against the Stanford University student, Brock Turner was sentenced to just six months.

And he walked free after just three.

After stripping a young woman of her dignity, after defiling her in countless and unimaginable ways, and after buying her ‘a ticket to a planet where she lives by herself’, Brock Turner is now sleeping in his own bed.

A bed which doesn’t need a drawing of two bicycles above it because in his story, he’s the hero.

I mean, how else would you describe a young man who bravely endured a summer behind bars just because some girl couldn’t handle 20 minutes of action behind a dumpster?

When news broke that his nephew, Brendan Dassey, had had his conviction for the murder of Teresa Halbach overturned last month, hope in the Steven Avery camp intensified.

And as his attorney, Kathleen Zellner, filed the motion for his exoneration, Steven, whose story in Making a Murder gripped millions this year, focussed on his desire to write a personal memoir.

While speaking to In Touch, Steven maintained confidence that he would soon be freed, saying: "I’m comfortable. I know I have a good attorney and that she’ll prove my innocence."

After revealing that he wants the memoir to explore his time in prison and the personal struggles he endured at the hands of the legal system, 54-year-old Steven then admitted he could see the book making its way to the silver screen.

When pressed as to who would play him in the story of his life, Steven replied: "Maybe Brad Pitt,"

Despite sounding certain that Brad was the man for the job, the father-of-four admitted that he hasn't seen the A-lister in too many films as television access was limited during his time behind bars.

"We don’t get too many stations, but we’ve got the news," he explained.

Well, if you're going to opt for anyone, you opt for Brad Pitt, right?

Tyga has been in a lot of hot water lately, and now it seems like Kanye is bailing him out.

The rapper has just announced that he has signed Kylie Jenner's beau Tyga to his G.O.O.D. Music record label.

Kanye revealed the news during his pop-up show at New York's Highline Ballroom at New York Fashion Week last night.

For Tyga's last album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, he self-released it through his Last Kings label, but that obviously didn't work out too well for him.

Let's hope this works for both of them!

Over the past few years an increasing number of so-called dieting experts have preached the banning of carbohydrates as a means of losing weight.

But unfortunately for those of us whose willpower can at times be a little lax, dodging an entire – and terribly delicious – food group can quickly become a major struggle.

Thankfully a number of women have come forward in recent months to share their carb positive body transformation stories, and if Madalin Frodsham’s bikini pics are anything to go by, we’ve a feeling carbohydrates aren’t as detrimental to dieters as many would have you believe.

After growing sick of constantly having to count calories, the 27-year-old Australian sought the help of a nutrition coach who advised her to up the volume of carbs in her diet by a massive 45 percent.

Admittedly, this news didn't exactly send Madalin straight into the arms of a bread, pasta and chip-filled love fest, but in order to reach her body transformation goals she did increase the levels of complex carbohydrates in her diet.

I was chatting with my good friend  @gracemaeslay about fitness the other day. She's super fit and runs her own Beyoncé style dance classes (I know, epic!) and she was like "yup I'm doing to do Kayla now!" I think she knows that if I can do it, she can most definitely do it because she knows I was the most unfit person alive!  Anyway, she did the first circuit and messaged me basically dying  I didn't have much words of encouragement… Haha basically said it gets worse before it gets better! But she's so freaking determined and was like "you know what I tell myself? It's only 30 minutes."  I couldn't agree with her more! When I first started I'd lay in bed for half an hour coming up with excuses to not do it. I've now learnt to not even question it, wake up, lace up and go #gogetitgurl Leggings and crop: @publicmyth

Complex carbs are those which are made up of long chains of sugar molecules and include wholemeal grains, legumes and everyone’s favourite sweet potatoes.

According to the Daily Mail Australia, eating more carbohydrates while keeping track of her macronutrient intake – the levels of carbs, protein and fats in the diet – allowed Ms Frodsham to increase her body’s muscle definition without changing her exercise regime or weight.

Interestingly this process also allowed Madalin to up her calorie intake from 800 calories per day to 1,800.

So, what’s Madalin’s advice to those avoiding these nutritious delights?  Well obviously: Carb it up!

“Don’t do what I did for so long,” she said.  “Don’t waste your time eating salad when you could be eating sweet potatoes and banana pancakes.”

Madalin, we really like your style!

He may only be ten weeks old but it looks like this adorable cheetah cub has already gained himself a rather unexpected friend for life.

Upon contracting pneumonia shortly after being born, this baby cheetah – whose name is Emmett – was transferred from a Conservation centre in Cumberland, Ohio, to Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

But despite receiving the treatment he required, the poor little mite was finding it difficult to adjust to his new surroundings and so he was introduced to a seven-week-old puppy called Cullen.

According to a now viral Facebook post, staff at the facility believe Cullen will help Emmett settle into his new home as the golden pup should help calm the cheetah who is by nature a “skittish” animal.

Then once he’s ready, the adorable cub will become an ambassador for cheetahs who are still living in the wild and his newfound friend “will be with him every step of the way”.

There’s only one thing more sickening than people seeing a dodgy photo of you and that’s when that stomach flipping pic is permanently preserved in your final year yearbook.

But while many of us live to regret not asking for a reshoot on photo day, one 17-year-old New Yorker decided he would take matters into his own hands.

Unhappy with his potential yearbook picture, James Charles from Bethlehem, New York, retook his senior year photos to make sure everyone remembered just how on fleek his highlighting skills really are.

The aspiring makeup artist told BuzzFeed News that on the day of the original yearbook photoshoot the available lighting did not do his makeup justice – hate that – and so James decided to organise a shoot of his own.

Desperately in need of an “iconic” senior year picture, the teen quickly sourced a photography company who would allow him to use a ring light – a tool used by makeup artists and bloggers to ensure photos really do their skills justice – and had the photos retaken.

James was so impressed with the final results he took to Instagram to share his experience.

In a post which has since received almost 100,000 likes and nearly 5,000 comments, he wrote: “So I retook my senior photos & brought my ring light with me so my highlight would be poppin.  I love being extra.”

A tweet about the incident received a similar reaction, with even former Disney star Zendaya coming out to celebrate the move.  She retweeted James’ story with the caption “you win”.

If James’ work is good enough for Zendaya, it is definitely good enough for us!

After Giuliana Rancic made a point of saying that former Disney star, Zendaya, smelled like weed and patchouli when walking the red carpet with a head of stunning dreadlocks, we soon learned the 20-year-old star was well able to defend herself.

But it seems like this type of treatment is far from rare in the life of the young actress – something which she highlighted on Snapchat over the weekend.

According to a video she shared with followers in recent days, she and a male friend were subject to racial profiling during a visit to a Vons store.

Carefree…free of care

"So, we just got out of Vons," she told the camera. "Now, I am trying to buy a lot of gift cards."

"There are certain limits and some things, which is understandable so I'll take the less amount, whatever." Zendaya continued. "But the lady that was helping us… I don't think she was a huge fan of our skin tone."

The actress then recalled having the assistant throw her wallet after telling her she could not afford the $400 purchase.

"I can't make this up! This is what we deal with," she insisted. "Long story short, there is so much progress to be done in our world."

According to Refinery29, a store manager eventually intervened and allowed Zendaya to make her purchases.

Look, we all know that with a world of beauty comes a world of pain.

From waxing and threading to blistered heels and aching calves, looking good definitely comes at a price, and it looks like this girl just found hers.

In a move which has internet users falling all over themselves this week, Twitter user, Cachet, decided to share the moment she got stuck in her own face mask.

And hell, that girl can squawk.

After an agonising minute working the treatment off her skin, Cachet did what any girl would do in that situation, and decided to look on the bright side… for a moment.

"My skin is soft!" she told the camera before admitting that her face was, in fact, burning off her.

Despite Cachet's undeniable agony, members of the public are keen to focus on the results, with one writing: "I laughed but I lowkey wanna try it because her skin is nice."

"Skin looks buff though," wrote another Twitter use while someone else added: "Your skin pop though!"

And we thought getting our eyebrows threaded was something to shriek about…
