Today we heard that Politics and Society will be introduced to the Leaving Cert syllabus next year.

The subject will taught at 25 schools around the country from September 2016, according to The Irish Times. Students will be learning about power and decision making on a local and global scale.

Interesting? Possibly. However, this news gave us serious flashbacks to the night before the dreaded exams and the pressure of trying to remember all of the exact details involving in ox bow lake formation.

Then we realised that there are some subjects that maybe should have been included in the syllabus long ago.

1. How on earth you should tackle doing 'the big shop':

The aisles are packed with tasty snacks! What's the difference between shallots and red onions? Where do we find the good quality beef? People have questions.

2. How to survive your first real job:

Are casual Fridays an urban legend or no?

3. How to handle a break-up like a damn adult:

A practical exam that tests your ability to not send a regrettable text at 4 in the morning.

4. The fine art of entertaining:

House parties are fantastic. However, sometimes people actually expect a sit-down meal, at a real table, madness.

5. How to find a place to live:

College accommodation won't be there forever, and Sex And The City gave us unrealistic expectations about city living.

6. How to adopt a somewhat healthy lifestyle:

Red Bull and Pot Noodles will only get us so far.

7. Time Management:

Falling asleep at your desk is very much frowned up in the land of the adults. So it would be best to know when it is not a good time to stay up until the crack of dawn watching Netflix.

How to be responsible on social media:

For that moment when you're 57 weeks into your ex-boyfriend's brother's housemate's cousin's BFFs Instagram account. Oops.

We all love a good feel-good Christmas film, but this magical movie comes with a difference.

A Belfast-based youth film festival charity, Cinemagic, presented the world premiere of A Christmas Star today in the Odyssey Cinema, Belfast to 2400 movie-goers.

Film fans and industry supporters alike came together to support the young cast and crew of the movie, bringing the magic of Christmas to the city.

Oscar-winning writer, Julian Fellowes, who launched the project a year and a half ago said that she is very happy with the outcome of the film.

“I am proud to be associated with the fantastic work that Cinemagic does. We are told on every side that it’s time to lower barriers and cross frontiers and this is exactly what Cinemagic is doing. Young people, from every type of background and culture, are being encouraged to explore the world of film for themselves, first hand.

"We want them to break through the glass ceilings and walls that surround them, and see for themselves what it’s really like. Whether or not they continue to live or work in the Arts, there can surely be no better preparation for seeking and finding the right life.”

The film's young lead actress, Erin Galway-Kendrick, is a newcomer to the industry but that didn't stop her working alongside some of the industry's professionals such as Bronagh Waugh from Hollyoaks and The Fall and Richard Clements from A Belfast Story

The cast were also lucky enough to have Pierce Brosnan, Suranne Jones, Kylie Minogue and Dermot O'Leary feature in the film, as well as having it narrated by Liam Neeson.

The 40+ crew aged 18-25 were all mentored by top industry professionals throughout their time filming, making the experience invaluable for them all.

Cinemagic and Signature Entertainment bring A Christmas Star to cinemas in Ireland and the UK on November 13 but if you can't wait that long to see the magic, here's the trailer:

For as long as we can remember, Emma Watson has stuck to her golden roots and is not one to drastically play up her looks.

But the 25-year-old recently donned a much darker hair colour than were all used to for a romantic gothic photoshoot for Vogue Italia.

A photo posted by Emma Watson (@em.watson) on

The actress was photographed for an editorial spread and to no one's surprise, she looks gorgeous – even with the hair change.

Her hair wasn't the only thing going a little darker though as she was featured with very smokey eyes, and moody clothing; quite the opposite from her usual bright and girly attire.

There's no telling if the new look was strictly for the shoot, but if it's permanent, she totally rocks it. Here's Vogue Italia's video of the fab photoshoot:

Belfast bus driver Paul Doyle has been praised by thousands for his kindness to a homeless man after a student who was riding his bus posted about his caring act on Facebook.

AnnaMarie McDaniel wrote a post on the Translink Facebook page. She described  how the driver stopped the bus beside a homeless man who was soaked in the rain.

On the bus home from university there, absolutely miserable wet and cold night. I get the same bus every Tuesday and…

The driver handed him a plastic bag with a winter coat that he had bought for him.

By this afternoon more than 66,000 people had liked the post. There were also close to 2,000 comments that praised Paul and thanked him for making their day.

Michael Dornan, a representative for the Unite union, told Belfast Live:

"Paul is a very laid-back, reserved and quiet person. He told me he had repeatedly seen this young man standing in terrible conditions with no coat and his clothes were very thin.

This particular day he just said he thought he would try and help and look after him. He put it in a bag with some food. The young lad got very emotional and broke down.”

He added that Paul is a very humble individual and he is taken aback by the amount of people who have responded to his generosity.

This is however not the first time Metro drivers have made the effort to help their local community.

"We as a Union intend to do something on the run-up to Christmas for homeless people, to help them in some way.

They seem to be the forgotten people of Belfast, especially coming up to Christmas."

Oh, Jen. When will you learn. The fabulously clumsy star has managed to fall yet again on the red carpet.

The 25-year-old took another tumble at the Madrid premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

A fan of the star caught the fall on their phone and shared it on to Twitter. It appears that her heels got caught on the train of her gorgeous Ralph Lauren gown, making her fall flat on her face.

As we all know it's not the first time the actress has fallen at a big event. She famously tripped up the stairs at the 2013 Oscars while walking to the stage to accept her award. She then fell again at the awards show the following year, making us think she should just skip the heels altogether.

One of the more popular technology crazes to take the world by storm is the evolution of the ‘smart bottle’.

There seems to be a fascination with inserting some type of monitoring device into almost anything you can use to store your beverages.

For example, the ePint is the latest new gadget to feature on Kickstarter. At first glance, the ePint doesn’t seem particularly fancy. However, at the bottom of the glass there is a Bluetooth device that connects to your smart phone or tablet and basically keeps track of how much you’re drinking.

This is fairly standard procedure when it comes to smart bottles. However, the ePint does have some more interesting specs.

This gadget wants you to have a good time.

Using info from the app, it will know if you’re watching a particular sporting event and light up whenever your team scores. It will also change colour when it’s empty, and keep track of how many drinks you’ve consumed over the course of the night.

If the time comes when you might have had one too many, the app is going to let you know and will even go so far as to ring a taxi for you.

While the ePint has not yet hit the market, according to the Kickstarter page the people behind the invention expect to start shipping them to fans in April 2016.

Also of note: the ePint comes with a built in bottle opener, naturally.

So don’t add one to your Christmas list just yet. If you are eager to get your hands on one you can back the project for €37 and make sure you will have one when the time arrives.

What will they think of next?

It seems to be one gig after the other for Rihanna these days.

The singer is already balancing being a creative director of Puma, her own beauty line, a new movie role AND her upcoming album ANTI – but being the ultimate Bad Gal, she's not stopping there.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that RiRi quietly started her own styling, hair and make-up agency with her managing partner, Benoit Demouy.

The new venture is named Fr8me and is based in LA. Their plan for the agency is to style artists for booking commercials, editorial photoshoots, advertisement campaigns and red-carpet appearances.

Rihanna spoke to THR on her new business saying, "Hair, makeup and styling play an important role in creativity. I am very involved with that part of my process, so this agency was an organic thing for me to do."

And Ri has already lined up hotshot staff to work in her new business. Her make-up artist Mylah Morales is taking to the main stage along with Taraji P Hensson's stylist, Jason Bolden and celebrity hair stylists Marcia Hamilton and Patricia Morales.

Along with her partner, Rihanna is planning to use social media to drive her new venture.

"The industry's changed so much — rates have gone down, and clients just grab images off social media, trying to bypass paying artists. But we're concerned with social media, too — we'll take a makeup artist with 500,000 followers over someone else."

There's no word yet on which celebrity clients  plan to work with the agency, but one thing's for sure – we'd have a Bad Gal Riri makeover any day.

Yesterday an incredibly, moving story was doing the rounds on the internet.

The reason it had managed to attract such attention so quickly, was largely due to the fact that Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston was involved.

The story about Jennifer Aniston meeting a homeless teenage mother in Vancouver appeared on Facebook and has gathered over half a million likes since.

The post also has over 46,000 shares currently.

"I was day tripping to Vancouver from Seattle and stopped in for lunch at a little cafe. From my window I saw a young…

The problem is that this charming story about Jen’s very kind act is not actually a real story.

It was actually posted to a Reddit thread five years ago. The thread was titled, "What is the nicest thing you've ever done that no one knows about?" The post was made by a user who has since deleted their profile.

The majority of the story is the same, but some parts are slightly different.

Since the Facebook page that posted the story is a just a fan account (the actress doesn't have an official page), people are almost certain that Jen is not the author of the very sweet story that was originally posted online.

Sorry, Jennifer Aniston fans.

The post had gathered so much attention that reps for Jen told The Huffington Post that she had nothing to do with the story:

"She does not participate in social media so basically what you see on fan pages is taken from articles they have seen on her.  This particular story we have no idea where it came from and has nothing to do with Jennifer."

We imagine that Jen is probably happy her fans think so highly of her, but this whole story is also just a bit bizarre.

Just when you thought Christmas jumpers can't get any better, the good people over at Funky Christmas Jumpers pull this delightful one out of the bag.

Rudolph has more than a red nose this festive season, as FCJ intends on breaking the Internet with this very cheeky take on Kim Kardashian's famous Paper Mag cover shot.

The jumper features our favourite reindeer draped with jewels and boldly showing off his plump derriere.

The jumper description reads: "Trade in your eggnog for some champagne and the perfect selfie opportunity.

"Then, post all of your selfies to the Internet for all of your friends to see that you’re the life of the party."

It's brilliant, right?! Here's a few more of our favourite festive jumpers that you can get your hands on this year:

This yuletide season, two (or should that be three?) of our favourite festive stables are FINALLY joining forces: yes, step forward The Late Late Toyshow AND the Christmas jumper – as released by Penneys, no less.

Ho, ho, ho!

Toyshow jumpers: women's [left] and men's [right], both €20

After all, little could get us in the mood for seasonal festivities more than a brightly-coloured geansaí, sourced from our favourite affordable store, along with the airing of a certain live television classic.

Available in chic grey shade and classic navy shades and featuring an adorable Christmasy owl surround by snow, the €20 tops also feature The Late Late Toyshow logo.

Kids jumpers, €15

Along with a stash of fabulously comfy loungewear [priced from €14], and cute kids' items [priced from €10], the attire hits Penneys nationwide this month… all in time for the Ryan Tubridy spectacle, which this year airs on RTE on November 27.

Girls and boys PJs, €10

Better still, with €2 from every purchase going to the Temple Street Foundation, there is really no excuse (we didn't need one, mind) not to get your hands on these festive treats.

Women's lounge set, €14
Men's longe top and bottoms, €15 for the set

To celebrate the launch of the collection, home-grown boyband Hometown earlier visited the children’s hospital to spread some music and Christmas cheer.

Speaking about the collaboration, CEO of The Temple Street Foundation, Denise Fitzgerald, confirmed: “The Toyshow is a beloved national institution and many of our little patients will be watching from their hospital beds on November 27.”

It seems that McDonalds is committed to giving customers exactly what they want.

The fast food giant certainly had people smiling when it was announced that  sweet potato fries would be introduced to the much-loved menu. The launch of a gourmet breakfast also proved to a huge hit.

Then, the all-day breakfast menu was announced and we couldn’t believe our luck. Of course, the dreamy breakfast ideal has yet to be launched in Ireland, but we remain hopeful.

In attempts to remain the go-to fast food chain, McDonalds announced that 14,000 restaurants in the US will add mozzarella sticks to the menu.

McDonald's mozz sticks

The best part: the price is $1 (€0.93).

The company is believed to be making the cheap – and delicious – new addition in attempts to reverse declining sales from the last quarter.

“We will win with our food,” said Mike Andres, president of McDonald’s USA about the recent struggle.

Cheese-filled deliciousness for 93c sounds like a big winner to us.

Now, we shall just have to wait and see if these gloriously cheap snacks are going to make an appearance on Irish shores.

Deep-fried goodness for less than €1? Oh, and let us not forget that they also come with a marinara flavoured dip. Fabulous. Just imagine the scenes.

Our lunch time snack options may have just been transformed, everything in moderation after all.
