As a former catwalk queen and the creator of America's Next Top Model, Tyra Banks knows a thing or two about the industry.

She has always campaigned for diversity in modelling, having famously featured plus-size and transgender models on ANTM, and yesterday Tyra took to social media to express her upset with the way the industry works these days.

"Models have so much pressure today… They have to be slimmer than slim. Skinnier than skinny," the TV star wrote. "When I was a young model, yeah, we had to think about our weight, but not like today. I think I was size 6, not a size 0."

Tyra also lamented the fact that so many models book jobs today based on their social media popularity more than on their catwalk skills. And if you take a look at the most sought-after models of 2015 – Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Jourdann Dunn, Karlie Kloss – their stats don't lie. Kendall alone has 29.5m followers on Instagram, with the others all racking up at least a million apiece.

Speaking about the changes that have happened since her own modelling days, Tyra said she didn't envy those working today. " They have to compete with actresses, recording artists and reality stars for magazine covers and ad campaigns," she wrote. 

"They have to have tons of followers on social media to book top notch jobs. And they have to do selfies that make them look relatable, but not TOO relatable, because then people may comment that they don't understand, 'Why the heck is THAT girl a friggin' model??!!!!'"

Accompanying her Instagram post was an image of a young Tyra backstage at a YSL show looking decidedly under-dressed compared to models these days:

"Yep, that's teenaged me right before a YSL show was about to start in sneakers, plaid flannel and bad jeans. Mr. Yves Saint Laurent could care how I looked when I arrived to his show. But when I hit his stage, he expected excellence," the 41-year-old explained. "And I made sure I delivered that every time I was chosen to walk his amazing runway."

Tyra finished her rant by sending "love and hugs to all working, aspiring and super models worldwide" adding "stay strong girls." 

This is the second time this month that Tyra has had people talking on Instagram, having shared a beautiful no-make up selfie last week and telling her followers, "You deserve to see the REAL me. The REALLY real me."

Does everyone remember Aaron Samuels? That guy who was a complete babe and had a weird fetish about his girlfriend’s face smelling like peppermint?

He also caused a lot of drama for The Plastics, but we still miss him.

Well you don’t have to miss him any longer because Aaron, actual name Jonathan Bennett, is making his way to our screens again. Finally!

The Mean Girls actor has joined the Food Network series Cake Wars. The 34-year old is set to host the American series which challenges four bakers to battle it out and create the best cake they can for a prize of almost €9,000.

Jonathan has admitted that while he’s delighted to be a part of the show, he’s also very excited about a particular aspect of the job description: the cake tasting.

"I like cake. Who doesn't like cake? Cake is delicious."

Mr Bennett, you’ve taken the words right out of our mouths.

While we were all secretly hoping for a rainbows and smiles type recipe to be top of the actor’s list, it turns out he’s a much savvier baker.

His go-to cake creation is a little out there, but we’ll settle for just watching him master the kitchen: "It's cornbread cake, and then you layer it with macaroni and cheese and then you drizzle it with buffalo sauce."

We have no worries about the actor keeping it clean in the kitchen, however bizarre the recipes get, because we all know by now: his hair does look sexy pushed back.

Jonathan just can’t seem to escape the compliment, but he doesn’t seem too worried about it;

“Today alone, six fans have told me my hair looks sexy pushed back,” he says. “And the reason fans say that to me every day is because they love the movie. I’m glad to hear it.”

We would love to have seen how Regina George would have reacted to him donning a nice chef’s hat and apron though.

A shocking terrorism attack has taken place at a Tunisian resort popular with Irish visitors. Several fatalities are now being reported by local media.

A pair of gunmen shot dead at least 27 people in the attack, which was aimed at two of the busiest tourist hotels in Sousse in north-eastern Tunisia.

The town is extremely popular with Irish tourists, with the likes of Sunway.ie frequently offering package holidays to the area.

Many tourists were on the beach at the time and ran to take refuge in their hotel rooms once they heard gun shots.

RTE Radio spoke to Dublin woman Elizabeth O’Brien, who is currently holidaying in the region with her two sons.

She told RTE listeners how she was forced to grab her children and run when she heard gunfire: “We were on the beach, my sons were in the sea and I just got out of the sea. It was about 12 o’clock and I just looked up about 500metres from me and I saw a (hot air) balloon collapse down, then rapid firing, then I saw two of the people who were going to go up in the balloon start to run towards me — because I thought it was fireworks.

“So, I thought ‘oh my God, it sounds like gunfire’, so I just ran to the sea to my children and grabbed our things and as I was running towards the hotel, the waiters and the security on the beach started saying ‘run, run run!’ and we just ran to our room, which is like a little bungalow.

“So we are actually trapped in our room.”

Another man, John Yeoman from Britain, has been tweeting his fear and astonishment at what unfolded around him.

"There has been a shooting on the beach at our hotel it's been going on for 20 mins," he said a little after noon today. He later added: "We were in the pool when we heard automatic gun fire. People ran past saying there was an armed man on the beach." 

He was forced to barricade himself into his hotel room using a bed and other furniture, and shared an image of his efforts online.

A terrorist attack took place on March 18 of this year at the famed Bardo National Museum in central Tunis. Some 24 people were killed in that attack – including four Italian tourists, three French and one Briton. Many others were injured.

The Department of Foreign Affairs does not recommend that Irish tourists should avoid the country entirely, but it says that caution is needed.

Indeed, the dfa.ie website warns: “The presence of extremist elements in Tunisia, as well as instability in neighbouring Libya, mean that there is a heightened threat of terrorism in Tunisia.”

It adds: “Irish citizens should maintain a high level of security awareness, monitor the local media closely and follow the instructions of the Tunisian authorities and tour operators.”

There is no Irish embassy in Tunisia, but there is an honorary consul.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has furthermore said that Irish people concerned for family members in Sousse can call 01 408 2000.

Who could possibly forget the special night that your entire secondary school experience was building up to?

The debs ball was always going to be a night to remember. Whether we remember it fondly, or if it was more of a cringe fest, nobody can forget the excitement of that oh-so special occasion.

And what about those people who went to more than one? There was always that one person in your class that had a stockpile of formal wear; a bedazzled fishtail ball gown ready to go at the first phone call.

It wasn’t enough to celebrate the momentous occasion with their own classmates, no, no no. Some people would be attending balls all over the country.

We thought we’d heard of all the extravagance possible… until just now. Ennis-lady Meghan Griffin went to seven. Seven! Could you imagine the amount of tan that took? We couldn’t.

Speaking with RSVP magazine, Meghan recounted her debs adventures and said (we don’t believe it) shopping for seven different dresses wasn’t stressful at all. In fact, she really enjoyed the experience.

It wasn’t all flawless style though, Meghan does recall her sartorial choices being a little less than on trend looking back on it. When asked what her debs style was she reflected it was more “yellow meringue” and “my big fat gypsy debs” than Beyoncé at the Met Ball.

But just where did she manage to find all those gowns? Meghan told the magazine she “insisted on ordering most of my dresses from the USA”. Fancy.

Not all glamour though, Meghan remembers one dress having to be taken in. The combination of the blistering Clare sunshine and her heavy tulle gown took its toll on the debutante master:

“After withstanding the heat, the weight of the dress and standing for over 30 minutes in four inch heels on a high stool, I fainted and I fell straight off the high stool into poor dressmakers arms.”

She managed to overcome the ordeal and at least one of her social events had a Disney princess-type ending. Meghan and her final debs date ended up staying together for eight years.

“When I text him to invite him his response was: “You better not be messing with me because if you are, that’s really mean”. That date was the start of our almost eight years together!”

Everybody together now: “Awwwh.”

It has been reported that Michael Buble’s son, Noah, has been rushed to hospital following an incident with scalding water.

Noah is almost two years old and is thought to have suffered serious burns which happened in an accident in their home.

Michael is reported by local media in Argentina to be out of the country as his wife, Luisana Lopilato, brought their son to hospital yesterday.

Luisana tweeted lastnight saying : "Thank you all for joining me in these moments! My child is very well. If God wants to soon we will return home."

The website Clarin.com has said that Noah has six percent burns following the incident.

Earlier this week in an interview with OK magazine, 28-year-old Luisana spoke about their very normal life saying “We're a normal family with complications, beautiful things and ugly things too. We're not a rare or unusual family."

Could it be true? Is a big congratulations on the way for Nicki Minaj and her beau Meek Mill?

The queen of hip hop has really been confusing fans lately. With marriage rumours running rife, Ms Minaj has only spurred these on with back and forth hints but no actual confirmation. 

However, recent reports have speculated that all the marriage hype sparked by the couple may in fact just be a ruse trying to distract the public from what could really be going on. And what the reports are saying is really going on is that Nicki may be pregnant.

According to MediaTakeOut, strict instructions have been given to everyone traveling on the couple’s upcoming tour. The guidelines that everyone on the tour has to follow seem to suggest that Ms Minaj might just be pregnant. 

Nicki and Meek will be performing at dozens of venues in the States and her tour manager has reportedly requested that there is no smoking of cigarettes or cannabis in any of the venues or on any part of the tour.

Could this be a sign that Nicki is carrying a child?

And, what's more? While the 32-year-old is well known for donning extremely tight clothing that shows off her curvy figure, the Anaconda rapper was spotted just yesterday wearing a baggy double denim outfit with a button-down blue shirt… This doesn’t sound like the Nicki we know!

Although the reports have yet to be confirmed, what is abundantly clear is that the couple are as strong as ever. Nicki recently took to Twitter to show just how obsessed with her beau she really is.

She followed this by saying "And just for the record, I'm in love with meek."

They may have only confirmed their relationship status with subtle shout outs and PDA filled snaps on social media but Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are officially the music industry’s most powerful couple.

Queen B and her husband Jay-Z have officially been dethroned.

According to Forbes the talented duo are number one in the ranking of highest paid celebrity couples ranking. The world’s highest paid DJ and his Bad Blood singing bae brought in an impressive €130 million last year.

Mr and Mrs Carter meanwhile racked up just under €100 million. No slacking off in that household. 

While Beyoncé and Jay’s On The Run collaboration tour was hugely successful, and also incredibly stylish, Taylor’s endorsement deals and multiple contracts for Harris mean they managed to kick the Carters off the top spot.

No hard feelings, we’re sure.

Taylor has deals with Sony and Keds while DJ Calvin maintains contracts with Giorgio Armani and Sol Republic.

The magazine teased the news as part of their Celebrity 100 issue, and in the ranking of celebrity earners only three couples made the list. Aside from Taylor, Calvin and the Carters, country music stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton made the list.

Not that these stars aren’t sharing the love. Taylor has been in the news recently for her generous donations to a family from Texas who were severely injured in a car accident. There’s also her latest trend of giving credit to her fans when reposting their photos from her concerts.

Both Tay and her new BF have careers that seem to be getting bigger and bigger, so as long as they stay together, they could end up being a serious celebrity power couple.

This may just be the best news EVER.

It’s hard to believe that one of our favourite films of all time is about to have its 20th anniversary.

Just like the columns of Cher’s house that date all the way back to 1972 – it’s a classic.

But fans can rejoice because the film’s creator, Amy Heckerling, has announced that the musical version of Clueless is already in the works and we are totally buggin’!

“I’ve written the, what they call ‘the book’ and it’s a jukebox musical,” Ms Heckerling told Entertainment Tonight.

While we are so excited about this upcoming project, we can’t help but wonder, who could possibly take over the roles of Cher, Dionne, Tai and Josh? The musical’s writer seems to be having the same thought process.

“Well casting – that’s like going to be like the main problem,” Ms Heckerling admitted.

With the anniversary of Clueless coming up, Alicia Silverstone who played Cher spoke about just how popular the film was and remains today.

“The amazing thing about this movie is that it’s still being discovered. I love when older people, like grandparents, tell me that they love this movie,” the 38-year-old admitted.

“That’s very odd and wonderful. And then little people who are just discovering it now – it’s just being passed on. It’s timeless. Even though it captured that time so well it seems that people really identify with it.”

While the producers have yet to hint at what “jukebox” hits are going to be in the show, we can only imagine that Rollin with the Homies will make an appearance – and maybe even some Billie Holiday… because we just love him!

In fairness, we totally get it.

Shabani is the male gorilla at a Japanese zoo that has been drawing in the crowds because of his rugged good looks… oh yes, that’s right, his rugged good looks!

According to Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, they have seen a huge spike in the number of female visitors to the zoo ever since Shabani gained public notoriety.

We do have to admit, as gorillas go… he’s pretty damn cute!

Posing up in matching flat caps and warm geansai, David Beckham and his eldest child, Brooklyn, certainly looked like the perfect father-son duo on a fishing trip yesterday.

The 16-year-old even got lucky: catching a huge John Dory fish off the coast of Dover that even the captain was impressed with.

"Not bad for his first time fishing," his beeming dad wrote on his Instagram account. "A nice John Dory that the captain said its the 2nd biggest one he had seen. Very proud."

That's not all the pair got up to either: the teenage son of Victoria and David also had his first driving lesson. And rather than slumming it in a battered old banger, Brooklyn was treated to a spectacular, vintage ride. 

Indeed, with his flat cap still on, he undoubtedly embodied the roaring 1920s. "First driving lesson," he said on Instagram. "Very Gatsby!"

Mr Beckham recently returned from a trip to Cambodia, where he went to see the work carried out by his UNICEF fund, and evidently is enjoying a bit of down-time with his family on his arrival back in England.

With his wife, he has three other children: Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10, and three-year-old Harper.

Despite spending a considerable amount of time in Los Angeles, Brooklyn's earlier Instagram snaps of their trips betrayed his love of rural living in the country of his parents' birth.

"Loving the country life," he captioned one image of him dressed in a traditional Barbour wax jacket. Another shot showed him out on the sea. "Fishing with my dad," he simply wrote.

Kerry Katona’s husband, George Kay, has been rushed to hospital with signs of a potential stroke.

The mum-of-five took to Twitter last night to ask fans to pray for her husband.

“Asking you all to say a prayer for @mrgsjkay been taken into hospital with signs of a stroke xxx.”

Thankfully, the former rugby player went on Twitter himself later in the night to share hopes that he was suffering from Bell’s palsy, and not a stroke. The two can be easy to confuse as Bell’s palsy causes weakness or paralysis of the muscles in one side of the face, similar to the tell-tale signs of a stroke.

“Hoping it’s bells paisley (think that’s how you spell it) xxx,” the 35-year-old wrote.

Kerry and George have been married since September and together they have a one-year-old daughter, Dylan-Jorge.
