Brittany Murphy

It's hard to believe that it has been almost seven years since the tragic passing of actress Brittany Murphy in her Beverly Hills home at the age of just 32.

Though the death was determined to have been from 'natural causes' at the time, there has been much speculation into the tragic case and its strange circumstances ever since.

The actress' death was believed to have been a combination of pneumonia and anaemia, as well as the accidental mixing of prescription drugs in her system.

But according to a recent investigation undertaken by E! News, there are many authorities close to the case who still have questions.

"I had questions initially and those questions remain," said a respected pathologist Dr Cyril Wecht to the news site.

Brittany's husband, screenwriter Simon Monjack, also died of the exact same issues of wife just five months after her death in their home adding even more suspicion to the case.

Brittany's mother Sharon has since claimed both deaths were caused by toxic moulds in their house while her father, Angelo Bertolotti, has speculated that a toxicology report included evidence of deliberate poisoning.

While the circumstances around the death have yet to be satisfactorily cleared up, authorities have revealed that the case would reopen if the evidence presented itself.

"We would have to have direct evidence,"  L.A. County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.

"In all honesty, it would take something like a confession. Something connecting somebody with it.

"A reexamination could happen also if law enforcement contacted us. Or we can reopen the case if there is substantial evidence."

This may just be the best news EVER.

It’s hard to believe that one of our favourite films of all time is about to have its 20th anniversary.

Just like the columns of Cher’s house that date all the way back to 1972 – it’s a classic.

But fans can rejoice because the film’s creator, Amy Heckerling, has announced that the musical version of Clueless is already in the works and we are totally buggin’!

“I’ve written the, what they call ‘the book’ and it’s a jukebox musical,” Ms Heckerling told Entertainment Tonight.

While we are so excited about this upcoming project, we can’t help but wonder, who could possibly take over the roles of Cher, Dionne, Tai and Josh? The musical’s writer seems to be having the same thought process.

“Well casting – that’s like going to be like the main problem,” Ms Heckerling admitted.

With the anniversary of Clueless coming up, Alicia Silverstone who played Cher spoke about just how popular the film was and remains today.

“The amazing thing about this movie is that it’s still being discovered. I love when older people, like grandparents, tell me that they love this movie,” the 38-year-old admitted.

“That’s very odd and wonderful. And then little people who are just discovering it now – it’s just being passed on. It’s timeless. Even though it captured that time so well it seems that people really identify with it.”

While the producers have yet to hint at what “jukebox” hits are going to be in the show, we can only imagine that Rollin with the Homies will make an appearance – and maybe even some Billie Holiday… because we just love him!

Brittany Murphy’s father Angelo Bertolotti is really not happy about the biopic about his late daughter. He took to Twitter to voice his opinion after cringing while watching the trailer.

“I am disgusted and outraged that Lifetime decided to produce such a trashy project, defiling the memory of my beautiful, talented daughter, Brittany Murphy.”

“Lifetime’s casting was atrocious, Amanda Fuller, the girl playing Brittany, looks absolutely nothing like her. Everyone looks ridiculous in their bad wigs and the dialogue is nauseating.”

“#brttanymurphy would have been MORTIFIED if she knew what a mockery they made of her life and her gorgeous looks and talent. #unauthorized”

Amanda Fuller has replied to the comments in a recent interview and said she has had to block Brittany’s dad from Twitter:

“He can do what he wants. But I just think it is interesting that the minute she is back in the press he is all about, ‘I am going to sue’ and all that stuff. If he really respected his daughter's memory then I don't know if he would be trying to make all this controversy about it. Let her rest in peace.

“It is what it is. All of our hearts were in the right place. I had two days to prepare.

“I would have loved to have months of preparation and time to get down to a really skinny body so I could portray her physically better.

“We would have loved to have had more money and more time for vocal lessons and stuff like that. But in the end, I think it became less of it being a look-alike piece and more about just trying to capture the essence of who she was.”

While it can’t blame Angelo for being upset at what he sees as an inaccurate portrayal of his daughter, we really feel sorry for Amanda Fuller! It can’t be easy getting that kind of abuse when you’ve done your best!

The first trailer for Lifetime’s The Brittany Murphy Story has been released.

Actress Amanda Fuller stars as the tragic Brittany, who died in 2009 with the primary cause of death ruled as pneumonia.

Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack, passed away only five months later under similar circumstances.

The new TV show deals with the lead up to Brittany's untimely death, as well as the aftermath.

The life of late actress Brittany Murphy has been made into a two-hour film which will air early next month on TV channel Lifetime.

The biopic, entitled The Brittany Murphy Story, will tell the story of the star’s childhood years and her rise to fame, as well as the events surrounding her sudden death almost five years ago.

Actress Amanda Fuller, best known for her role on Grey’s Anatomy, will play the adult Brittany.

Lifetime has not revealed its source information for the script, with speculation mounting that Brittany’s family did not give permission for the story to be told on film. A spokesperson for Brittany’s mother Sharon Murphy said she was not consulted in any way before or during production of the film.

Brittany died from pneumonia and other causes in December 2009, while her husband Simon Monjack passed away five months later as a result of similar health issues.

The trailer for actress Brittany Murphy’s final movie, Something Wicked, has been released and it looks spooky!

The actress, who passed away in 2009, plays the character of Susan and it would appear from the trailer that her role is a complex one.

While the filming of the movie was wrapped in June 2009, the movie is only set to be released on 4 April 2014.

Brittany Murphy’s last ever movie will finally hit the big screen – more than four years after her death.

Described as a thriller about love gone wrong, Something Wicked stars Brittany as a psychiatrist attempting to uncover sinister forces causing a newly-wed couple’s relationship to fall apart.

Murphy died in 2009 after collapsing at her LA home. The coroner determined the primary cause of death was pneumonia, but said multiple drug intoxication was also a secondary factor.

The movie will first be released in on April 4th in Eugene, Oregon – in honour of where it was filmed – and will be shown at various cinemas in the coming weeks.

Producer Joe Colleran praised Murphy’s acting in a 2011 interview with USA Today, calling a moment in the film “one of the best scenes of her career.”

Something Wicked also stars One Tree Hill’s Shantel VanSanten and Pretty Little Liars Julian Morris.
