If you're still struggling to think of a Mother's Day gift idea for your mum, or if you just want to treat her to a day out soon, why not try a spot of afternoon tea?

It's got that little extra special touch over a normal restaurant lunch – and you don't have to stick to just tea, of course!

Here are some of our favourite places around Ireland for a girly afternoon…

Dublin
The Atrium Lounge at The Westin

Try their traditional afternoon tea with sandwiches, cake and loose lea tea for €28pp, or have some fun with their Most Peculiar Aftertoon Tea for €30pp, a Alice in Wonderland-style menu which includes a "Victorian mojito" in a teapot. Fancy or what?!

Cork
Hayfield Manor

You can choose to be served in the hotel's bright lobby area or in the elegant drawing room, with an afternoon tea including tea, sandwiches, cakes and homemade chocolates for €27pp, or for €39pp with a glass of Champagne.

Galway
The g Hotel

This boutique hotel offers afternoon tea in true style, with an assortment of sweet treats, sandwiches and tea for €26 (€42 for two people), or the above with a glass of pink Champagne for €37 (€59 for two).

Limerick
Adare Manor

The old Dunraven family home is now a stunning hotel, offering an elegant afternoon tea for €28.50pp (vegetarian option available) or €37.50pp with a glass of Prosecco or Prosecco Rosé.

Belfast
Titanic Suite at Titanic Belfast

Enjoy live jazz music as you are served up a selection of finger sandwiches, cakes, sweets and freshly baked scones with clotted cream, plus your choice of a slice of one Titanic signature cake, cut at the table for you. Prices start at £24pp, and go up to £29 to include a glass of Prosecco and £34 to include a glass of Champagne.

Can you imagine telling your current partner how many people you've slept with before them? Or vice versa?

It's a fairly awkward conversation and one many couples choose not to have. After all, the past is the past, right?

Elite Daily took some couples to find out just how your significant others' 'number' affects us.

The results are pretty hilarious, while some couples seem to already be aware, others decide ignorance is bliss.

Would you want to know how many people your other half has slept with and would you have a problem telling them your 'number'?

A pop star named Jelena Karleusa from Serbia has accused Kim Kardashian of ripping off her look.

A glance at Jelena’s Instagram account may explain why…

The singer, who is one of Europe’s top selling artists told US Weekly that she reckons Kim’s style team have been taking some tips from her Instagram account: “I think that her stylists are inspired by my IG page, not her. I don’t have a stylist. I do it all myself.”

Jelena’s signature blonde hair seems to be the catalyst for the complaints, but certain looks created by the pop star seem to have inspired Kim’s recent taste – perhaps Kanye is a fan of Jelena’s music?!

The mum-of-two has been drawing lots of comparisons between herself and the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star on her Instagram account, asking her 376,000 followers to ‘find’ her in a collage of photos that include Mrs. Kardashian-West.

Hmm, do you think Kim’s stylist have been seeking inspiration from Jelena’s photos?

Amy Huberman is the ultimate Irish Queen of Twitter, her witty anecdotes keep us entertained every day and frankly, we're not sure what we'd do without them!

Now, she has basically won Twitter, announcing her marriage to Amy Poehler…yes, really!

Okay, well no, we're sure they haven't REALLY gotten married (though that would be awesome, sorry BOD) but she did get to meet Amy in Trinity today.

Us, jealous? Most defintely!

Amy tweeted a photo of herself and the legendary other Amy on her Twitter account, writing: "Myself and Amy Poehler got married in Trinity today. We are very happy. Thank you for all the well wishes."

Amazing – congrats you guys. Can we come on the honeymoon?

It’s almost been a year since the tragic death of Peaches Geldof on April 7th last year.

The young mum-of-two was found dead in her Kent home by husband Tom after suffering a heroin overdose.

Today, on what would have been Peaches’ 26th birthday, her older sister Fifi Geldof shared a poignant tribute to her sister on her Instagram account, writing: “Thinking of her on her 26th birthday. Love you, wherever you are.”

Peaches’ two sons with Tom, Astala and Phaedra, have been kept out of sight since the death of their mother, having been a very prominent feature on her Instagram for several years.

However, the two little boys were spotted last week with their grandfather, Bob Geldof, their dad Tom and aunt Pixie.

We’re sure the next month will be very painful for the family as Peaches’ one year anniversary approaches.

In make-up terms, Instagram is the new YouTube. As YouTube becomes increasingly saturated with tutorial after tutorial, artists are increasingly moving towards the use of edited pictures and short-form video clips in order to share their work and stand out on what is a far more aesthetic platform.

Recently a really popular YouTuber, Gossmakeupartist, criticised the likes of Anastasia Soare (creator of the Anastasia Beverly Hills line) for favouring a somewhat heavy makeup look and helping to push the trend for that technique on Instagram in particular. It turned into something of an ugly (though popcorn-worthy) Twitter spat, which really was a shame.

There’s room for everyone and every kind of technique online, and Instagram is a brilliant tool for creatives of all types to showcase their work – some MUAs have even been discovered via their accounts. On that note, I thought I’d take things a little closer to home, and explore some of Ireland’s best makeup artists on Instagram…

1. Siobhán McDonnell – @letzmakeup82
I'm sure that more than a few of you know Siobhán from her hugely popular YouTube channel, LetzMakeup. She's hugely likeable and her honest, no-fuss persona is something that really stands out to me. Her videos are always some of the first for me to click on, but she's also totally worth following on Instagram for a bit of inspiration and product porn!

Super-filtered sneak peek of Friday's makeup tutorial….

2. Heather Davern @heatherdavernmakeup
Heather showcases a lot of looks on herself and her core aesthetic is all about fresh, clean skin, smokey eyes and daringly bold lips. She makes the somewhat daunting task of pulling off the two look absolutely effortless, and I'm always jotting down her choices and combinations of shades, as she simply never gets it wrong.

3. Ciara Allen – @ciaraallenmakeupartist
As well as being seriously talented at what she does (having worked with MAC, L'Oreal, Wella and more), Ciara's a lot of fun! Give her a follow for a peek at her professional work as well some personal musings, plenty of product chat and mini reviews – always with added craic!

4. Noella Geoghegan – @noellamakeup
Noella is a multi-skilled artist – aside from her makeup skills, she's a trained eyebrow professional, and had the privilege of working backstage at the London Olympics opening ceremony back in 2012. Her Instagram feed is full of the most beautiful creatures – mostly models that she's made up – and her impeccable technique speaks for itself.

5. Fabiana Coppola – @fabsyyy
MAC-trained Fabiana has just gone out on her own and I've no doubt that her venture will be a huge success. I love how she heavily favours a cat eye and her blending is just always on point! Fabiana uses a lot of indie makeup brands as well as the usual suspects, so definitely check her out if you're after something that little bit more unusual.

Well there's a look of disgust if ever I've seen one!

It’s almost that day of the year again and we are getting very excited!

While the annual St. Patrick’s Festival will take place in Dublin on March 17th, there is also so much going on around the country for you to check out as well.

Where will you spend the most Irish day of the year this 17th March?

Cork
The city comes to life with a four-day festival beginning on Saturday 14th March which runs right through until the 17th, when the parade will hit the streets of Cork. From tasty treats at the festival market to The Lee Sessions keeping Irish traditional music alive in the pubs of Cork, this will be a weekend to remember!

Limerick
The St. Patrick’s Day weekend events in Limerick city are every bit as exciting as people hit the races on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th with the Limerick International Band Championship hitting the streets on Sunday. Tuesday will see not only the parade captivating interest by all, but also Limerick’s beloved Milk Market which will open on St. Patrick’s Day for a non-alcoholic celebration of food, crafts and music.

Galway
This year, the Galway parade’s theme is celebrating ‘Galway’s Cultural and Creative Community’. Not only will the World’s Strongest Man be in attendance but the Galway Community Circus will feature in the parade too!

Belfast
Belfast’s St. Patrick’s Day parade is set to be a lively affair indeed! Not only will Blue’s Simon Webbe be headlining at a free concert at Custom House Square, but Louis Walsh’s band Homeland will also take to the stage! If the boozy atmosphere is something you are trying to avoid this St. Patrick’s Day, there is also a free event in Custom House Square from 1pm-3pm.

Univision TV presenter and Emmy-Award winner, Rodner Figueroa has been fired after he made derogatory comments about the First Lady of The United States, Michelle Obama.

During a show that was broadcast on Wednesday, Rodner was discussing the make-up artist who transforms himself in Kim Kardashian and Michelle Obama, Paolo Ballesteros when he made the comment that he made Michelle looks like she was in Planet of the Apes:

“Well, watch out, you know that Michelle Obama looks like she’s from the case of Planet of the Apes the movie.”

At the time, nothing was said regarding the defamatory comment, but a call later came from Michelle Obama’s office, complaining about the broadcast.

Now, Rodner has written a letter to the First Lady, TMZ says, explaining how his comment was not meant in racist way: “I’ve been an activist for causes in favour of minorities, as I have been discriminated against.”

Rodner also added that he is the first openly-gay Hispanic TV presenter and is from a bi-racial family.

Charlotte Crosby doesn't seem to be the greatest fan of one of the new additions to the Geordie Shore cast – and in true Charlotte style she's not afraid to talk about it either.

Nathan Henry and Chloe Etherington were drafted in as new cast members for the upcoming series of the reality show which airs next month.

While Charlotte has come around to Nathan already, there's already been some tension on set between herself and brashy 19-year-old Chloe, the youngest current cast member.

"It's always weird when we get new people on Geordie Shore, so it took me a long time to accept Nathan and Chloe," she admitted in her Star magazine column.

"I really like Nathan – he's funny and different. But with Chloe I was shocked – everything about her feels like she's trying to be me."

It turns out Chloe even imitates one of Charlotte's more notorious drunken habits! "She walked in and started talking about how she p****s herself," said Charlotte. Ew! "But I do get on with her – when she's not screaming."

Speaking to Reveal magazine about her first few weeks of filming, Chloe said she was confident that she would hit it off with all of the other cast members even before she entered the house.

"Going in the house I obviously was nervous that people wouldn't like us, but then I thought 'I'm a nice person, they have no reason not to like me'. Everyone was so nice, I knew straight away we would get on," she said.

Hmm… wonder what she'll think of Charlotte's latest comments!

Actress and singer Jodi Albert laid her mother to rest yesterday after she passed away earlier this month.

Jodi's mum Eileen lost her battle with cancer just over two weeks ago, and the former Hollyoaks actress shared a beautiful tribute on social media last night.

Posting a picture of herself as a child sitting on her mum's knee, Jodi wrote, "We said goodbye to your body today, but you are a part of me and will live on in my heart forever. I will raise my children and make you proud. I love you my mummy. I will treasure our special relationship forever! Thank you for the life you gave me. #myangelnow"

Jodi and her husband, Westlife's Kian Egan, married in 2009 and have one son together, three-year-old Koa. Last November the couple announced they were expecting a second child.

Speaking at the time of her mother's death just over two weeks ago, Jodi said Eileen "fought hard and her strength was inspiring right until the end," adding, "I will miss her forever and will do my best to be the loving selfless amazing mother to my children as she was to me."

Eileen was first diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and had been in remission for a number of years before it returned. A charity donation page set up in honour of her death has already exceeded its target of £3,500 (€4,898).

Jimmy Kimmel's "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets" segment is legendary by now, with everyone from Justin Bieber to Bryan Cranston taking turns to read aloud some of the more scathing tweets written about them.

Now the US President has stepped up to the plate, and the results are as brilliant as you might expect.

It's a tad awkward seeing the leader of the USA reading mean comments about himself, but he's a good sport – a true professional!
