Former Spice Girls singer Mel B has revealed that she has no vision in her left eye after corrective laser surgery went wrong.

The X Factor judge admitted in a recent interview that the incident happened 15 years ago and that she has been relying on limited vision ever since.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, Mel said she is now considering a cornea transplant to fix the damage to her eye. The complex surgery would involve doctors replacing part of her eye with donor tissue.

"I can't see at all out of my left eye. The lasering went wrong so this will be totally life-changing," the singer said.

Although she is a pro at TV work these days, Mel admitted she has faced difficulties at times, in particular when she hosted the MOBO awards last month. "I had a bit of a nightmare. I was reading the autocue and then suddenly I realised that I couldn't see properly," she said.

The singer received a lot of criticism for her "blundering" hosting skills at the awards, with many viewers disappointed by how disjointed the ceremony was:

Despite being keen to have her vision corrected, Mel says her surgery plans stop there and she has no interest in cosmetic procedures, hoping to stay youthful by being as healthy as possible. "I don't want to have botox or surgery because I want to have expression in my face, but I want to look after myself," she said.  "I'm not an idiot. Looks do count in this business."

We wish Mel all the best with the transplant!

Irish mammies don't like a hot humid summer. They also don't like a freezing cold winter – like this one!

Here are some things you will definitely hear from your mammy this winter:

1. “You know something, I’d say it will snow tonight now”
Says every Irish mammy every night of December. The two times they are right they proclaim: "Now, what did I say." And it isn't a question.

2. “The roads are TRECHEROUS”
And they probably are, in fairness.

3. “You can’t go out in that you will PERISH”
She's right, you will. Put a coat on for feck's sake!

4. “The heating on and every door and window open…typical”
You can just hear the disappointment in her voice.

5. “Keep an eye on that fire now while I'm gone – not too much turf mind”
This is a BIG responsibility – so don't mess it up.

6. “It’s too cold to snow”
Is that even possible?

7. “It. Is. BALTIC, help me inside with these messages!”
Sure is, mammy. Ok mammy.

8. "Sure at least it's not as cold as 2010. Ah, The Big Freeze"
The memories come flooding back…it's horrific. They say it may happen again, you know…

9. "Run the taps there for a while so they don't freeze over"
The most annoying job EVER. Fact.

The long-awaited movie Wild, starring Reese Witherspoon, opened in 21 theatres in the States this weekend and looks set to go from strength to strength!

The film based on a memoir by Cheryl Strayed grossed a massive $630,000 and this figure is set to climb. Word-of-mouth and superb reviews meant that Wild, which tells the story of one woman’s 1,100 mile solo hike, was the weekend’s biggest newcomer.

Directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, the man responsible for 2013 release Dallas Buyer’s Club, Reese's latest offering is set to hit the silver screen here in January next year and we can’t wait!

If you hadn’t heard about Zoella before last week, we can’t say we would have blamed you. However, after the furore of recent days, it’s safe to say everyone has heard of her.

YouTube star, Zoella released her debut novel, Girl Online, in November where it sold 78, 109 copies in the first seven days alone, leaving the YouTube star speechless and on  a great high.

However, it wasn’t to last and now Penguin and Zoella have both confirmed that she did not write the novel alone, using a ghostwriter, which has led to much criticism. A rep for Penguin Random House told the Sunday Times: “to be factually accurate you would need to say Zoe Sugg [Zoella] did not write the book Girl Online on her own.”

Zoella, meanwhile, took to Twitter and said: “Thanks for all the positive feedback about Girl Online and for the doubters out there, of course I was going to need help from Penguin’s editorial team in telling my story, which I talked about from the beginning. Everyone needs help when they try something news. The story and characters of Girl Online are mine. I want to thank all of you who have taken time to support the book.”

Now, the criticism has obviously taken its toll on the rising star and she tweeted earlier: “Bare with me on vlogmas. I’m taking a few days out and off the internet because it’s clouding my brain. Thanks for understanding.”

It has been rumoured that an author named Siobhan Curham may be Zoella's ghostwriter due to a blog she had posted about writing a book in six weeks which has since been deleted. The book is believed to have been Girl Online by many speculators.

Will her young career be able to get up and move past what has undoubtedly been a very bad week for her?

Some of us have been Shellac converts for years, while others have yet to dip their fingers in this unknown world of nail care.

Whether you prefer to go au naturel with your nails or you’re a dab hand at a DIY manicure, there’s a lot to be said for availing of a Shellac treatment from time to time. (Or more often, if you become totally addicted to this ‘manicure miracle’.)

The treatments tend to be relatively inexpensive, the majority of salons offer free removal and there’s no denying that longevity plays a massive role in Shellac’s popularity!

But what exactly is Shellac, why is it often referred to as a ‘manicure miracle’ and what should you expect from a treatment?

Here are some questions you may have pondered if you’ve yet to treat yourself to this revolutionary salon treatment.

1. How is Shellac polish different from normal nail polish?

Normal nail polish tends to chip right? Well, Shellac polish is a whole lot thicker than your standard varnishes; a treatment requires three coats and each coat is then ‘set’ under a UV light which makes it virtually chip-proof!

2. How long does it last?

It is recommended that you have your Shellac removed after approximately two to three weeks because this is when natural nail growth will become visible.

After this point there will be a stark contrast between your natural nail colour and your chosen Shellac shade, and yes that’s the case even if you opt for a French polish!

Some lucky girls, however, can get up to a month out of a Shellac treatment before their own nail begins appearing!

3. What is the upkeep like?

Many therapists advise their clients to use cuticle oil on their nails twice a day while rocking their Shellac as this will nourish the nail beneath the treatment.

A small price to pay to ensure we’re looking after our own nails beneath the polish, right?

4. Does Shellac have an artificial look?

Shellac doesn’t lengthen or thicken your nails in any way, so your nails will look as natural as they normally do when you apply polish, but will last a whole lot longer!

5. What are the downsides of the treatment?

Shellac is not without its cons, but if you’re aware of these issues, they are very easy to avoid.

Shellac can damage your nails if you don’t have it removed professionally, something which is normally included in the cost of the initial treatment.

Picking and peeling at your Shellac treatment will have a detrimental effect on your nails, leaving them broken and very brittle, so be sure to take advantage of the salon removal!

The verdict

Shellac is a wonderful treatment to have because you get serious bang for your buck, manicured nails do wonders for your overall look and there’s something seriously indulgent about having someone tend to your hands and nails, right?

Beware though, you will spend more time than your boss might appreciate staring dreamily at those fab nails of yours, so maybe you should opt for your first treatment over the Christmas holidays!

Earlier this year, 15-year-old Brendan Jordan diva-danced his way to internet fame when he appeared in the background of a local news clip in the US, throwing some serious Beyoncé moves.

The video has since been viewed over 3 million times, and as a result Brendan has gained over 50,000 Youtube followers and a staggering 273,000 Instagram devotees.

Now clothing company American Apparel have picked up on the hype and have taken Brendan on as a model in their latest campaign:

The blurb next to the (downright epic) picture of Brendan's poses reads, "Brendan is from Las Vegas. He's half Peruvian (his dad was born and raised in Peru) and he learned Spanish from his extended family that helped care for him. He enjoys taking photos, shopping and collecting Disney memorabilia. In the future Brendan hopes to have his own TV show and design a clothing line. His biggest inspirations are his great grandmother Lucy and Lady Gaga."

The company said they "were inspired by Brendan after seeing his fearless act of spontaneity and applaud his efforts with the LGBTQ community."

American Apparel has gotten a bad rap in the past for its overly sexual ad campaigns, but we have to say this one is totally tasteful and pretty hilarious, too. Win!

Let's take a moment to worship Brendan and his epic dance skills:

As we all know, people normally fall into one of two camps during the festive season.

There are those that just can’t wait to get started and will spend hours choosing the perfect present for their loved ones and those that leave their purchasing until Christmas week and can’t decide if they like someone enough to fork out thirty euro on a gift set.

Regardless of the camp you fall into, whether you start splurging on the 3rd or the 23rd, Christmas shopping never, ever, EVER goes as smoothly as you might hope and if you’re of a forgetful nature, then Christmas shopping is a living hell.

Here is just one of the ways we fall short every single year.

Expectation: My handy checklist will be my armour against the chaotic Christmas crowds who, unlike me, will have been too disorganised to write a list.

Reality: My handy checklist is at home on the kitchen counter and now I can’t even remember my mum’s name, let alone her favourite perfume.

Expectation: I will be the calm voice of reason in every store because I have my trusty list and I don’t need anything else.

Reality: I will be the manic voice of insanity because I think the woman who lives at home might want that clothes horse.

Expectation: After checking three people off my list, I will relax over a hot chocolate and smugly admire my thoughtful purchases.

Reality: After checking I still have the will to live, I will slug desperately from a can of diet Coke in a crowded shopping centre while clutching a clothes horse like a cray-cray loon.

Expectation: I will remember what I got everyone last year because I will bring last year's list with me too so there will be no embarrassing double purchases.

Reality: I will struggle to remember what I had for dinner last night, so people can just deal with getting the same book three years in a row.

Expectation: I will not overspend because that is not conducive to good financial organisation.

Reality:  I will demand that someone take all my money and get me out of this list-less hell of my own making.

Expectation: I will arrive home, put my list aside for next year, tune into Christmas FM and begin wrapping my gifts.

Reality: I will trail home, growl at the forgotten list on the kitchen counter, sorrowfully watch Hostel and try to wrap a clothes horse.

Happy shopping, ladies!

Zosia Mamet shocked us all when she chopped her long brown hair right up to her chin and then later dyed it blonde.

Now, the Girls star seems to be attempting to give us a heart attack altogether as she unveiled her new GREY hair at the premier of A Most Violent Year in New York last night.

The new colour appeared to have some purple undertones and while we wanted to love it, we just didn’t. That’s not to say grey can’t work as a dyed hair colour, but it tends to have more of an impact on slightly longer hair.

That said Zosia rarely gets it wrong so we’ll let her have it this time! It's fun to experiment with lots of different hair colours and styles after all!

We're also 100% sure Shoshanna would HATE it.

We all know that stars love to share their lives on social media, but Chris Brown may have taken things too far with his recent move.

After he deleted a post in which he accused his ex-girlfriend Karreuche Tran of dating Drake while he was in prison, he has now posted an official apology to the model.

The rapper called himself “young and dumb” before saying that he wants his “baby girl” to know he apologises for what he has done.

"Being young and dumb is one of my strong suits and emotional at best. I love hard and react impulsively when I'm hurt at times. I don't think social media is a place to air out or hash out personal problems and a n**** feel hella WACK for doing it. So I AM APOLOGIZING I live in a glass house and the same shit that makes me great also is my curse. Everybody know I love that girl. I don't care how my image my look to the public because I'm still gonna be the best at what I do. I just want baby girl to know I apologize!"

Hmm, will she take him back…again?!

We're not convinced she will – she seemed adamant that the relationship was over in an Instagram post of her own yesterday.
