Hmm, it’s really starting to seem like relationships are doomed when it comes to Strictly Come Dancing, as Caroline Flack is said to have ended things with her boyfriend Jack Street.

According to reports, conflicting schedules are to blame for the break-up, with Caroline busy in dance rehearsals while Jack has a high-flying career as a music manager. He has currently been spending a significant amount of time in the US with Sam Smith.

Jack is also expected to accompany the rising star on a tour in the US, beginning in January, meaning he will be away for a significant amount of time.

It was also reported that the former Xtra Factor presenter was distraught before her performance last weekend. If that’s the case, then she definitely nailed it, as she was fab!

Another Strictly couple break-up…who will it be next time?

Forget turkey and ham, we all know festive food is mainly about the desserts!

If you want to try your hand at something homemade this year, a fruit crumble is about as foolproof as you can get. There's no dough to roll or icing to make – and it's meant to look a little rustic and messy! So get to the kitchen give this simple but delicious recipe a go – just make sure you don't end up scoffing it all yourself (or just make two so you can do exactly that)!

This recipe calls for plums to go alongside the apples but you could easily swap in another festive fruit instead of the plums, for example 200g of fresh/frozen blackberries or 2 – 3 cored and sliced dessert pears.

Spiced apple and plum crumble

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 500g Bramley apples (or another tart apple of your choice eg. Granny Smith), cored and very thinly sliced
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 350g ripe plums, stoned and quartered
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons water

For the crumble:

  • 225g plain flour
  • 110g butter, softened and cubed
  • 110g caster sugar
  • 50g chopped hazelnuts (or another nut of your choice eg. walnuts)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180C / Gas Mark 4.
  2. Put the thinly sliced apples, 50g sugar, cinnamon and water into a saucepan and set on a medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it stew for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the plums and allow to stew for a further 5 minutes.
  4. Once mixture is quite soft, transfer it to a greased pie dish and allow to cool.
  5. To prepare the crumble, place the flour and cubed butter in a mixing bowl and rub together with your fingertips until the mixture becomes "crumbly" – it should resemble coarse breadcrumbs.
  6. Mix in the 110g sugar and the chopped nuts. If using berries instead of plums, add them to the stewed apples in the pie dish now.
  7. Cover apples with the crumble topping.
  8. Place dish in over and bake for 35 minutes until the topping is golden and crisp.
  9. Serve with ice cream or cream.

Walk the Line star Joaquin Phoenix, not exactly known for his tame television appearances, certainly didn’t disappoint Letterman viewers last night when he appeared on the popular late night chat show.

The acclaimed actor proceed to adopt questionable yoga poses on the floor of the studio before admitting that he’s engaged to be married, a big reveal that seemed to even shock host David Letterman.

The Her star decided to fill David in on a particular experience he had with his yoga instructor by lying on the floor and saying: “I don’t know if you can see this, but it’s a compromising and vulnerable position. My Julio Iglesias is up next to her goulash, and she’s thrusting, she’s pulling.”  Er, OK.

Clearly spurred on by the audience’s reaction to his anecdote, the actor goes on to say: “This is the crazy part of the story, we started dating. And I think she’s the one. I proposed to her and she said yes.”

Accepting congratulations from the clearly taken aback host, Joaquin looked very excited at the prospect of making this woman his wife.

Aw, we wish them both well!

Gwen Stefani, solo star and face of Grammy-award winning band, No Doubt says she doesn’t regret using the Harajuku Girls in her videos and public appearances because it ‘was all meant out of love’.

The 45-year-old musician, who is currently promoting her new album, has opened up in a recent interview with Time magazine about the criticism she received in the wake of her first solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby, released in 2004.

Gwen was slammed for using Asian girls as props, but the singer says: "For me, everything I did with the Harajuku Girls was just a pure compliment and being a fan.”

Refusing to bow to criticism she received during the time and which refuses to go away today, the star said: “You can look at it from a negative point of view if you want to, but get off my cloud.”

Gwen has been accused of treating the women like pets, even renaming them Love, Angel, Music and Baby, but the singer scorns these accusations, saying: “You can’t be a fan of another culture? Of course you can. Of course you can celebrate other cultures.”

Gwen, surprisingly however, goes on to say: “They were dancers that were cast, but they became real.”

Ehm Gwen, they’re living, breathing humans, so weren’t they always real?

Your social calendar is no doubt already filling up ahead of the next few weeks, with nights on the town and other festive events planned.

At such a busy time of year it's important to stay aware of your own personal safety and that of those around you.

Preparation is key, so keep these simple tips in mind.

1. Stay in groups
Whether it's a pub crawl or a big night on the tiles, it's so important to stick with a group of people you can trust. Where possible, share taxis and do not attempt to walk on your own late at night. It's just not worth it. If you're going out with a gang of people you don't really know, let a close friend know of your whereabouts just in case.

2. Make sure you have the essentials
Double check before you leave the house that you have everything you need. Even if you'll be using your card to pay for drinks, keep some emergency cash on you just in case. Ensure your phone is fully charged – if there's a chance it might die later in the night, write down the phone numbers of one or two of your friends, so that you won't get caught out.

3. Don't get too caught up
After a few drinks it's easy to let your own security fall by the wayside. Remember that you are your own responsibility – stay aware of where your bag is or check it into the cloakroom, try to pace your drinking as the night goes on, and don't disappear without letting a friend know where you'll be.

4. Have a back up plan
Not only can you expect big crowds while out and about this year, the weather can be changeable and even the best laid plans can fall apart. Have a plan B in case of emergencies – a meeting point if you lose friends, a taxi number or knowledge of where the nearest rank is in case it's needed, and again, spare cash just in case.

5. Be careful
If you're on your own at the end of the night, be extra cautious and aware of your surroundings. Sit near the driver if you're on a late night bus, avoid sitting in an empty train or Luas carriage by yourself and avoid walking alone. If you are flagging a taxi instead of using Hailo or a taxi service, take note of the plate number and the driver's name in case of lost property or any other unexpected event.

It is with very heavy hearts we can reveal Oscar-nominated actress Kate Hudson and Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy have called time on their three-year engagement.

The couple who began dating four years ago became engaged in 2011 and welcomed their son Bingham Hawn Bellamy that same year, but the romance is officially over with Kate seeking comfort from none other than Cheryl Fernandez Versini’s ex-‘something’, Derek Hough. Interesting!

Speaking in the past about her and Matthew’s long engagement, the stunning 35-year-old was unconcerned about the apparent delay, saying; “I’m planning nothing right now. I’m so busy, we’ve been so busy and it’s been great.”

Kate, who was married once before and has a ten-year-old son, Ryder, from the relationship, wasn’t in a rush to head back up the aisle, saying: “My parents aren’t married. And one of the reasons why they never got married is because they had been married before and they liked it the way it was.”

Despite the split, Kate and Matthew are, according to a source, "close friends and committed co-parents.” Kate seems keen to move on, however, and The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star has been spotted out and about with Derek Hough, eating, drinking and staying past closing in top LA restaurants.

Kate mentioned Derek as far back as last year when she said she had been ballroom dancing with him and that ‘it’s been a real blast!”

Should we have seen this coming?

Ah, the office Christmas party. Co-workers and alcohol can be a dangerous mix, and someone (probably you) is guaranteed to overdo it on the mulled wine and whip out their "fabulous" dance routine a little too early in the night.

Although you can't prepare for what lies ahead on the night, you can at least plan one part of your annual work event – the outfit.

If you're anything like us though, that won't exactly be a smooth process either. Here are nine stages you're guaranteed to suffer through when choosing an outfit for this year's party…

1. In mid-November, you vow that THIS will be the year you look incredible
Right, the party is six weeks away. That's loads of time to lose half a stone/save money/religiously exfoliate and moisturise daily. I'm gonna be the belle of the ball.

2. As the date draws closer, smug co-workers begin to talk about their outfits
Ugh, they're all so organised. Whatever.

3. With a week to go, you try to convince yourself you've plenty of time
Sure that's seven whole days! Oh god, who am I kidding? I'M SCREWED.

4. Cue a frantic trip into town the evening before the party
I thought Black Friday was weeks ago? Why are there so many crowds? Who are all these people?

5. You try on at least fifteen dresses, all of which look terrible
So apparently sequins don't suit me.

6. You ponder the possibility of not wearing a dress at all
I can just go in a Santa suit, sher. It'll be HILARIOUS. Casual clothing FTW.

7. You finally resign yourself to the idea of wearing the same dress as last year.
Ah, no-one will notice. We were all VERY drunk. Or maybe they'll all notice instantly? Oh god… this is so difficult.

8. You tentatively add a pair of antlers to up the "festive" element of your outfit
So fancy.

9. Party time! After two glasses of wine you instantly forget all of your outfit woes – hurrah!
TO THE DANCEFLOOR!

Superman star Henry Cavill is a single man again, ladies.

It's been confirmed that the actor and his girlfriend Gina Carano have split for the second time.

Gina, who is a former MMA fighter, first began dating Henry in September 2012 but the couple split up around six months later. However in October 2013 they were pictured looking cosy again while out for dinner in Rome, and things seemed to blossom again from there.

The couple had been quite serious since their reunion, even adopting a puppy together.

Too much cuteness in that picture – we wonder who's getting custody of the pup!

During the couple's original break-up, Henry famously had a fling with Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco. She has spoken about the brief romance and how it led to her seeing the bad side of fame for the first time. "I had no one following me until I met Superman," Kaley said in an interview with Cosmopolitan.

"I've been in this business for 20 years, and my whole life, I could go anywhere, do anything. There had not been one paparazzi photo of me until like several months ago. The recognition was crazy."

Sadly Kaley's off the market since marrying Ryan Sweeting last year, so Henry will have to find another Hollywood star to keep him company!

Singer Lauren Platt was voted off The X Factor during last night's semi-final results show, but her loss could be the key to salvaging her broken relationship.

The 17-year-old was dumped by boyfriend Liam Baker last week after numerous reports emerged of a romance between Lauren and Only the Young's Charlie George.

At the time, Lauren said she felt bad for shoving her boyfriend into the public eye. "Liam didn’t sign up for X Factor — but he ended up being dragged along for the ride. And to do that to a person is hard," she told The Sun.

The young singer also defended her close friendship with Charlie, saying, "It’s very rare to meet someone who is exactly like you, and it is scary how much we are the same."

However in an interview with OK! magazine today, Lauren revealed she has hopes for her and Liam to reunite, and said the main reason for the break-up was her hectic schedule on X Factor. "When you're on the X Factor, you don't have a personal life," she said. "That's how it should be. You can't go in there half-heartedly expecting to do well. You have to go in there all or nothing."

The teen admitted that her and Liam are on good terms and that the split was not as heated as the media had reported it to be. "The break-up has been so mature… Me and Liam are in very good places, we're still in touch," she said,

"One thing we do have on our hands is time. So to wait until my life has changed, however it's going to change, is nothing compared to what could be. Maybe we'll give it a rethink after that. We're kind of leaving it as whatever happens, happens."

Hmmm… we wonder if Liam is quite so chilled out about the whole thing!

Imagine you’ve just had an argument with your partner. You’re hurt and embarrassed and call up a pal to vent. Then imagine that she in turn gathers hundreds of other friends, acquaintances and even strangers, and tells them what happened too, and how you’re feeling about the whole thing.

You’d be angry, right? Shocked that everyone knows your business, maybe. Worried they’d make judgements about your relationship. You’d feel your privacy had been invaded.

But if you’re a fan of social media – and use it to shout about every aspect of your life, good and bad – that’s exactly what happens every time you post something. Sure, your close pals can see it, but what about all those other Facebook friends or Twitter followers? The ones you only kinda, sorta know? Or don’t know at all? Social media might sometimes feel like it is private, but it is in fact the total opposite.

On the plus side though, at least you’re not revealing all of your relationship ups and downs to thousands or even millions of strangers, as Chris Brown did over the weekend. The R n’ B star has been going out with model Karrueche Tran for five years, with lots of bumps in the road along the way. However Chris really sparked drama recently when he dissed Karrueche to his 6.5 million Instagram followers, accusing her of dating rapper Drake while Chris spent four months in prison.

Karrueche publicly retaliated – to just 2.5 million followers this time – saying, “I refuse to be repeatedly mistreated by someone that claims to love me. That's not love. And if that's what you define as love then I don't want it.”

Rather than call his girlfriend up or visit her at home, Chris’ apology again came via social media. ""Being young and dumb is one of my strong suits and emotional at best. I love hard and react impulsively when I'm hurt at times. I don't think social media is a place to air out or hash out personal problems and a n**** feel hella WACK for doing it," he wrote.

It’s understandable that when we are angry, or feeling guilty, or sad, we might want to tell someone about how we are feeling. But by venting on social media, all we are doing is inviting others into the most private parts of our lives. Sure, you might get some extra sympathy, but from who? That random acquaintance who knows nothing about your relationship? That girl who really doesn’t care about what happens but just wants to be part of the gossip?

We are so stringent about keeping certain elements of our lives private, but not others. Every time Facebook changes their policy there is uproar about what we do and do not have ownership of, and yet we are more than willing to share our feelings, our opinions and even what we’re eating for dinner with hundreds if not thousands of people.

Social media is just that – social. Next time you are considering sharing something online, ask yourself if you’d be happy to share that same information with each and every one of your followers if you met them in person. If not, then keep it to yourself.

With just over a month to go before the fourth series of Girls airs, we're getting a little ansty about what could be in store.

But a new promo for the season, released today, makes us wish we actually knew nothing at all.

Most of the plotlines seem fairly innocent – Shosh trying to work things out with Ray, Marnie freaking out about everything and Hannah being, well Hannah.

As for Jenna though, certain clips from the promo would suggest that she's moving in on Hannah's turf with Adam. Check out the two of them looking super flirty at 32 seconds in! Jenna is also seen telling Hannah that "the heart wants what the heart wants." Does the heart want Adam?!

We'll have to wait til January to find out more, but for now we are very intrigued!
