All relationships go through a little dip after the hazy excitement of the beginning stages. It’s not as exhilarating as it was at the start, your heart doesn’t race as much and he’s not your first thought each and every morning; this, as we all know, is normal. But how can you tell the difference between a comfortable routine and the impending demise of a relationship? Read on.

Date Night: If you’re more excited by your wine and carbonara than hearing about your boyfriend’s week, then chances are stuff is getting a little stale between you two. (The only time you should really prefer food to his company is when you’re hungover or have your period and if it’s a combo of the two, then all bets are off.)

Cinema trip: You suggest a trip to the flicks, not because you want to spend time with him, but because you really want to see The Babadook and there’s no way you’re going to that terror-fest alone.

Butterflies: They’re not there every day anymore. That’s fine! Ain’t nobody got time for that anyway. But are they there AT ALL anymore? Something to really think about.

The no-pants dance: Do you feel the same emotional connection you felt at the start or is it a paint-by-numbers routine you could literally do in your sleep? Speaking of sleep, if that’s your preference when you’re in bed together then you need to start asking some questions.

Weekly plans: There was a time when you’d step over your own mother (sorry mum) just to spend fifteen minutes with him. Now, he’s just become a less important part of your social rota. ‘Sunday afternoon- oh yeah, boyfriend, I suppose.’

Future plans: Remember when you’d gauge how well the relationship was going by seeing how far in advance the two of you would plan things? Knowing that you were both secure enough to pencil in a trip for three months in the future was oddly reassuring and REALLY exciting. Now future plans only instil a sense of dread in you. ‘The week after next? Ehm yeh…can I get back to you on that?”

A lot of these issues can be easily worked on if you feel the relationship is worth it, but if you're flogging a dead horse then there's no shame in admitting it, initiating the civil and dignified ending your relationship deserves and moving on. Life's too short to miss out on butterflies.

Last night we went to bed early with a hot water bottle. What did Jennifer Lawrence do? She threw on an LBD and a pair of platform heels and went out for dinner in hip LA eatery Ago with her gals, to celebrate spending 7 million dollars on Jessica Simpson’s old house. As you do!

The LA home which boasts five bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen and a home gym is NOT, however, Jennifer and Chris’s new love nest. In fact, Jennifer’s new beau, Coldplay front man Chris, has also recently purchased a new home. His new place was no cheaper however, also costing a whopping 7 million dollars. Chris’s ex-mother-in-law Blythe Danner, Gwyneth Paltrow’s mum, helped the musician settle into his new pad; further confirmation that all is well in the Paltrow/ Martin camp.

Jennifer as we all know has been through a rough time lately, but is enjoying the time she's getting to spend with Chris and has been accepted into the singer’s circle of friends. His pals think the pair are well suited saying: “Although Jennifer is different from Gwyneth, both girls are earthy. They like to play and act silly at times."

Jen famously admitted she wanted to punch anyone who says they like exercising, so we imagine the equipment in that home gym might start gathering dust soon.

You know the sense of satisfaction you get from finishing a really good book? And you know when that amazing story and those fabulous characters are RUINED by the movie industry? Yeah, that really sucks, but what about the times they got it right? Oh, so very right?!

Let's celebrate three specific occasions when the book worm and the movie buff BOTH won.

Bridget Jones Diary
Helen Fielding’s 1996 novel, Bridget Jones Diary, tapped into the trials and tribulations faced by single women everywhere and resonated with girls across the globe. We felt like we knew Bridget. Hell, sometimes we felt like we WERE Bridget.

Then there was talk of a movie release and we worried that no one would be able to do our beloved Bridget justice on the silver screen. How wrong were we? Renee Zellweger absolutely NAILED it. She was everything we knew Bridget to be and we wanted to sing ‘All By Myself’ with her, in our jammies, from now until the end of time.

The Fault in our Stars
The book, written by John Green and published in 2012, was a runaway success and touched the hearts of everyone who read it. In fairness, who wouldn’t be moved by Augustus and Hazel’s story of love, bravery and adversity?  No one, that’s who.

It came as no surprise to learn that the Fault in our Stars was being turned into a major motion picture. At first, we were sceptical. Did we even have any tears left? Turns out yes, yes we did. In fact we had more tears than we ever thought possible and that's always fun to find out in a crowded cinema, right? Always. Okay? Okay.

Lord of the Rings
You needed sub-human strength to even lift this whopper of a novel by JRR Tolkien, but once your muscles adjusted to the change, my God was it worth it! This was actually one of those books that you thought should DEFINITELY hit the silver screen. Imagine the action, the colours, the excitement!

So in 2001, they did it. And it was everything everyone could have wanted. The end.

After a bad break-up, you're well within your rights to disappear into a mess of Doritos, Haagen Dazs and fast food for a few days.

Usually this involves raiding the local Spar, heading to the McDonalds Drive-Thru and seeking refuge on the couch. Not for this woman though. Ohhh, no.

Tan Shen was on the train home after being dumped by her man, when she stopped for some comfort food at her local 24-hour KFC in Chengdu, China.

Now, we've all done the bould thing and ordered seconds in a restaurant, but Tan Shen decided to go for thirds, fourths and fifths too. One portion of chicken wings in, she decided that she wasn't leaving the restaurant. Ever.

At first staff didn't noticed her continued presence due to the shift changes, but as the week went on they began to get suspicious.

"I just wanted some chicken wings," Tan told Yahoo News. "But once I got in there and started eating I decided I needed time to think. I didn't want to go back to my apartment because it was full of memories of him. So I stayed."

After a week or so, media started showing up and the dumpee made the executive decision to head home and mourn her broken heart away from prying eyes. We hope she ordered a take-away portion of wings for the road…

Shailene Woodley, star of the sob-fest that was The Fault in Our Stars, has recently pronounced her boobs ‘great’ and we for one salute her. We applaud her confidence and, quite frankly, the woman speaks the truth! In an industry where actresses constantly feel under pressure to alter their appearance in some way, it’s very refreshing to know that a young, upcoming actress feels confident in her own skin and isn’t afraid to say it.

22-year-old Shailene who appears topless in her latest film White Bird in a Blizzard told the New York Post in a recent interview: “I felt great doing it. I was not fully robed. And our bodies had no make-up. My boobs are great. They don’t need any help.” Preach Shailene, preach!

White Bird in a Blizzard, directed by Gregg Araki, is due for release next month and tells the story of a young girl whose life is thrown into disarray after the disappearance of her mother. Having wow’ed audiences with her portrayal of teenage cancer sufferer Hazel Grace Lancaster in the summer smash The Fault in Our Stars, we can’t wait to see Shailene’s latest offering.

It has been revealed today that Joan Rivers, the much-loved comedienne, who passed away last September has left her daughter Melissa a whopping 75 million dollars in cash. Further to this astounding sum, Melissa is due to inherit her late mother’s New York home, worth an estimated 35 million dollars.

The outrageous 81-year-old presenter of Fashion Police passed away last month from complications during surgery in a New York clinic, however the official cause of death was only released last week. Joan’s only daughter, Melissa Rivers, appeared alongside her mother in reality TV show Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? and their relationship always appeared genuine, sincere and relatable.

Forty-six-year-old Melissa read a note at her mother’s funeral which, in true Rivers style, had the congregation rolling in the aisles despite the sorrowful occasion. She concluded her eulogy with the words: “ I love having you live with me and I am grateful for every minute Cooper and I have with you. You are an inspiration.”

Cooper, Melissa’s 13-year old-son was also bequeathed a undisclosed sum of money by his world famous grandmother.

Like the Coca-Cola trucks, the Brown Thomas windows and the Late Late Toy Show, the Starbucks red cups are a sign that Christmas is well and truly on the way.

With the arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latte last month for autumn, we knew the Christmas flavours wouldn't be long coming. But things are about to get even more festive this year with the arrival of a NEW drink – the Chestnut Praline Latte. Call us "basic" if you like, but this news has us VERY excited.

The drink was released in a few branches in the US last year as a test run, and it looks goooood:

Early morning #Starbucks! New Flavor: Chestnut Praline!!! Amazing!

A photo posted by Naomi Parfait (@naomiparfait) on

The Chestnut Praline Latte is the first new Christmas beverage to be released by the coffee giant in five years, and it will accompany our old faves, the Gingerbread Latte and the Peppermint Mocha.

It apparently beat the Cherry Jubilee Mocha to win a place on the Christmas menu. Couldn't we just have had both?

The new drink has "flavours of caramelized chestnuts and spices" and comes topped with whipped cream plus a light sprinkle of praline crumbs. Nom. Roll on November 12th!

Things took a turn for the awkward when Brad Pitt sat down with Zach Galfianakis for an episode of Between Two Ferns.

Then again, what was he expecting?!

While the entire interview in general is pretty hilarious, we didn’t think things could get any more awkward until Zack popped the ultimate question to Brad – the question nobody has dared to ask him for years: “Tell me what it was like the first time you laid eyes on Angelina. Was it like one of those classical love stories … like when Ross first saw Rachel?”

He then spits his gum in Zach’s eye so needless to say the interview was a massive success.

Brad was married to Jennifer from 2000 until 2005 before allegedly leaving her for Angelina Jolie, who he married last month.

It’s been two years since former radio DJ Jenny Huston left 2FM and embarked on an entirely new dream…jewellery designing!

Edge Only, the new Irish-made jewellery line is everything we have been looking for; high quality, solid sterling silver and carat gold pieces in edgy designs.

We all love to pick up statement pieces from our favourite high-street stores, but often it isn’t long before our fingers are turning green – and this was a big inspiration behind Jenny’s new company.

She decided that rather than “buying one junk piece” she would invest in some quality jewellery – but was left disappointed: “Nothing reflected my personality” she says.

Everything was “very formal” and just not for everyday wear.

So she decided to make her own line of jewellery that reflected her personality perfectly!

Going from spinning all of the latest indie-rock hits to designing Irish-made jewellery certainly seems like a major change, but it sounds as if jewellery has been in Jenny’s life for quite some time.

Her mother, Jane, directed and trained the Crafts Council of Ireland’s Jewellery Skills Course for over 15 years.

As a result, Jenny was brought up around workshops, precious metals and gems and many talented people – many of whom she uses in her new company – as she says herself: “It would be crazy not to use these people my mum has trained.”

So has Jenny completely left her music days behind her? Not at all – one look at the Rock & Roll collection at Edge Only will tell you that, as she says: “I’m going from being an indie rock DJ to a jewellery designer; I thought I should reflect that.”

She also added that her love for music “will never change” and she has “such fond memories” of her days as a DJ.

Jenny has used the past two years very wisely indeed saying she travelled a lot before settling back to learn everything she needed to before launching Edge Only: “I did lots of business courses … tried to cram as much in as I could.”

Well, it certainly looks as if it’s paid off as the company, which only launched on the 16th September, is gearing up to release a further two collections: Everyday Icons and Bugs which will appear on the site on the 30th October – we can't wait!

Jenny spoke of her love for the Everyday Icons collection in particular, loving the screw, nuts, bolts and other everyday things we see fashioned into statement jewellery we can wear everyday, anywhere.

Edge Only isn't just for the ladies either!

There is also an extensive range for men – with cufflinks, tie bars and rings, all made from high-quality precious metals that would make the perfect gift for any occasion!

Let's face it, ladies – we could always use a little help when it comes to choosing presents for boys!

What does she love most about her collection?

Well that seems to be twofold, as she says she loves the fact that the pieces made by Edge Only can be worn on an everyday basis with a casual outfit, or dressed up for a glam night out. The other important aspect to her new business that she loves is that it is all Irish-made, as she says it has always been an important thing for her to “support local designers”.

If everyday statement jewellery is what you are looking for, with high-quality, fashionable, and locally made – then Edge Only is the place for you!

The website also has a great advice section on caring for your precious metals, as well as products you can buy that will keep your jewellery gleaming for years to come!

Don't forget to check out Edge Only on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

Oh brothers! You can’t live with them, you can’t live without them. They can be your greatest support system, your inspiration and your rock. As well as being total brats, smelly eejits and incredibly insensitive. But still, there are so many things every girl can learn from her brother. Like these!

1. That All Men Are A Child At Heart

Manchild

It doesn’t matter what decade of their life they’re in: they will still play video games, call you stupid and laugh at their own farts.

2. The Extent Of A Mammy’s Love

Mammys Boy

In every Irish family it’s known that the daughter becomes more of a friend towards her Mother. You go with her to Aldi, help her with the laundry and gossip with her about the latest scandal. But for her little prince, she’ll use up all the food in the house to keep him fed and iron his pillowcases.

3. How To Give Powerful Dead Legs

Chinese Burns

We’ve all been beaten up by our brothers. Whether it’s kicking, punching, wet willies, wedgies, dead legs or Chinese burns (is there a more PC term for that these days?!), it has happened to you. But what this teaches you is how to withstand pain. And get your own back…

4. How To Stay Grounded

Grounded

You’ve found out that you’ve exceeded your own expectations in your summer exams, you got a great job and life is pretty sweet. Brothers have their own special way of telling you: “I’m proud of you, but don’t get ahead of yourself.”

5. How To Eat Like An Absolute Pig

food

If you have brothers, you know you need to get to the fridge first on a weekend, otherwise you'll starve. It's like they inhale everything…

6. The Honest Male Point of View

Males Perspective

Brothers aren’t afraid to tell you you’re acting batsh*t crazy. They’ll always offer you honest dating advice, give you a good insight into the male mind.

7. When To Stop Whining

stop whining

No matter how hard your life seems your brother will have no hesitation in telling you to shut up. In all fairness, they usually only say this when your hair straightener breaks or you’ve run out of tan mid legs and are in floods of tears over these disasters.

8. What’s “Hip”?

hip

Fact: You will never as cool as your younger brother. It seems that no matter what band you listen to or which social media website you engage with, they will always be one step ahead of you. When you do manage to impress them with your “hipness” they will pat you on back, leaving you a bit bewildered.

9. That It’s Not Just You Who Feels Their Family Is Insane

family crazy

They’ve attended every family event with you, have sat through numerous families dinners and have gone through all the rows with you. It’s good to know that you’re not the only one who thinks that aunt Emma is an absolute nut or uncle Karl is a sensational bore.

10. How To Deal With “Sharing” Your Food

stealing food

You’re lucky if your brother asks you “Are you going to finish that?” You’ll be sitting there, happily munching away on your dinner, merry with life until you look down to discover your plate has been conveniently moved over to where your brother is sitting.

11. That Boys Will Always Be Boys

boys will be boys

Even though there may be busts up, food stolen and you get teased day in-day out, we still love our brothers more than anything. After all, if you can’t beat them, join them.
