Christmas can be an amazing time of year – lots of cosy snuggles, warm fires, pretty lights and presents. However, it also means a LOT of time spent at home and around our local area. Sometimes fun – sometimes hellish.

Here are the faces we will probably need to perfect to get through the rough moments this Christmas:

1. The ‘Oh my God, I LOVE it’ face

2. The ‘Mmm, this tastes SO good, how did you make it?’ face

3. The ‘trying hard to stay awake in mass’ face

4. The ‘I’m so wasted and trying not to show it’ face

5. The ‘I’d love to teach you how to Skype your sister on your new iPad, mom’ face

6. The ‘no way, I did NOT eat the last mince pie’ face

7. The 'Oh, it is just so good to see you, you look great' face

It goes without saying that we’re all guilty of a few beauty sins. Whether you’re a little liberal with your foundation every once in a while or you forget to remove your slap after a 14 hour day, none of us are perfect. (Hell, we can't be amazing at EVERYTHING.)

But if we have anything in common it’s probably that we all carry around far too many near-empty bottles and tubes when we should be taking stock of our make-up bag and having a ruthless clear-out every six months or so.

Let's make this our New Year’s beauty resolution; if you’re on board, here’s how to get started.

Mascara

If your mascara is becoming clumpy, it’s not necessarily time for a new one.

Try immersing the tube in a cup of warm water for a few minutes and watch how it reinvigorates itself!

If you’ve purchased a new mascara and yet you’re still carrying around a near-empty tube, then bin it!

You bought the new one for a reason, remember?

Powders

We’ve all had a palette of pressed powder or bronzer shatter on us, but we soldier on and continue to use it on a daily basis despite the fact it coats our clothes and bag in powder, right?

Cut your losses and ditch it immediately. Treat yourself to a new one, you have had a make-up trauma after all!

Brushes

Be honest, how often do you wash them? We all need a little schoolin’ in that department, don’t we?

Experts recommend we wash our brushes once a month in warm, soapy water to avoid germs and infection.  Every thirty days; that’s doable, right?

Nail Polish

Yes, you love the shade, but does it look as good when it’s clumpy and streaky on your nails?

If you’ve tried the age-old trick of adding a little nail polish remover to the actual polish and it’s still not as good as it used be, then admit defeat, bin the bottle and treat yourself to a new shade!

Lipstick

When was the last time you rocked that pearly pink?

If you haven't worn a lipstick in over a year, then chances are it's best days are over, so why not free up some space in your make-up bag for the latest lippie must-have!

Girls, start the new year by taking the time to rummage through your beauty bag and discard the non-essentials, then hit the beauty counter sales to re-stock.

You deserve a few treats for your organisational skills, after all!

Michelle Keegan sent Twitter into a tizzy earlier today when she tweeted about feeling depressed watching the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The former Coronation Street actress tweeted: “With all the pics of the Victoria Secret models going round I should be motivated 2 go gym, instead they’re doin the opposite! #depressed.”

While many followers weren’t too impressed with her use of the word ‘depressed’, one commenter in particular really angered Michelle when they wrote: “this tweet purely done so your army of fans will reply with “u could be a model hun” to boost ego.”

It wasn’t long before the actress hit back, writing: “oh shit [sic] up you idiot! I’m in the public eye doesn’t mean I can’t tweet something normal! Keep your opinions 2 urself.”

Yikes – don't mess with Michelle!

In a black-and-white image posted on the magazine's Instagram page, Kendall is pictured straddling none other than her supermodel pal Cara Delevingne, with the caption, "Kendall on Cara".

‘Bra shopping’ should never be mistaken for ‘bra browsing'. ‘Bra browsing’ involves pretty straps, pastel colours and pearl detailing while 'bra shopping' involves stress rashes, support cups and sobbing in cubicles.

Ladies, these two activities should never be confused unless you want your day on the high street totally ruined.

Let us be really. really clear here, 'bra shopping’ is a completely different thing and these, girls, are the stages.

1. Acceptance

The phrase ‘function over fashion’ is enough to bring most of us out in a cold sweat, but then we stand tall and acknowledge that sometimes evil just prevails.

We throw our shoulders back, push out our ill-supported chests and march off to the nearest department store.

2. Suspicion

We encounter Margaret, 4 foot 11 and sporting a measuring tape around her neck, who sizes us up immediately.

You do some sizing up of your own. Yeah, two can play at this game, Marge.

3. Tentative Enthusiasm

Ok, credit where credit’s due, Margaret looks like she’s got this and guides you into a fitting room.

“Oh, I’m in safe hands here with this one”, you tell yourself.

4. The Sweats

Minutes later, you’re hot and clammy, your fringe is frizzing and the bra you arrived in suddenly looks oddly alluring, despite it’s visible under wire and fraying straps.

What is happening here?

5. Panic

 “Do you need a hand?"

“Don’t come in Margaret!” you think in alarm. You’ll see that I still need to fasten it around my waist before hauling it into place. That can’t happen.

6. Hysteria

The bigger the bra, the more beige they become. The smaller the bra, the more tween-like they appear.

‘Who gets sexy, but functional bras?!’ you think in mild hysteria.

7. Joy

And then suddenly you’re a woman in a perfectly fitting bra! You have done the impossible.

Look at me. I am a woman.

8. Pride

You stand back to let Margaret admire you and you can’t hide the proud smile that’s creeping across your lips.

Margaret doesn’t smile. She knew. Margaret always knows.

9. Confusion

So, now what?

You have one bra that fits; do you continue to harm yourself, your bosoms and your back by wearing your other ill-fitting bras?

10. Indignation

€56 for one bra?

Bad back, it is. I'm going home.

Ariana Grande had a bit of an awkward encounter with an Angel at last night’s Victoria's Secret Fashion Show when she was belted in the face by a wing.

Elsa Hosk was coming down the runway as Ariana was belting out one of her hits, but didn’t quite spatially assess the situation and was hit by a wing before ducking down.

The singer laughed off the incident in a tweet earlier today, writing: “a Victoria’s Secret angel accidentally smacked me in the face with her wings and it was awesome #goals #bangbangintomyface.”

We bet that model is feeling lucky the rumoured 'diva' Ariana didn't appear at that particular moment! Perhaps she'll be next to be knocked off the runway following the mysterious absence of former Angel Jessica Hart following her Taylor Swift diss…

This plumber has got movvves!

Instead of doing a bit of work, this guy decided the beat deserved some respect, so he threw around some major shapes before realising he was caught on camera.

Trying to hide behind the doorframe, he tells the camera: “I’m a bit embarrassed about that.”

Aww, don’t be embarrassed, we LOVED the show!

It has been reported that X Factor stars Andrea Faustini and Ben Haenow have been ordered to lose weight after apparently putting on the pounds in the X Factor house.

A source for The Sun reports that orders ‘from the top’ say that the singers need to “cut out biscuits and get to the gym.” According to the report, producers believe that the extra weight will affect their position in the competition and make their careers as future hitmakers that much harder.

Andrea has previously admitted that those in the X Factor had attempted to get him on a diet, but he wasn’t having any of it: “The X Factor tried to put me on a diet. For three weeks I ate broccoli and grilled chicken. But I hated it. Yuk.”

We're not sure how their weight could in any way affect the sales of their music if it is good enough to stand alone. It seems there is a lot more on The X Factor bosses' minds that simply bringing us the next new talent in music.
