Fans of lovable Modern Family star, Sarah Hyland, were left shocked yesterday when it was revealed that she had filed a restraining order against her ex boyfriend, Matt Propok.

The couple went out for five years and even starred in Disney movie, Geek Charming together so it came as a surprise to many to learn that Matt had been violent towards his girlfriend, with Sarah describing the terrifying incident in court files: “He places both of his hands around my throat and began to choke me. His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life.”

Following the leaking of the restraining order to the media by TMZ, Sarah has sent a message to her fans through an attorney asking for privacy as she goes through what must a difficult and scary time for her: “The document filed speak for themselves. Out of respect for the court, the process and all parties, I have advised Ms. Hyland not to comment on the matter. We request that you respect the parties’ privacy during this time.”

Jessica Simpson has revealed that she is planning to change her surname.

The singer was married to Eric Johnson during the summer and has said that her marriage has brought them closer together as a couple: “We are a little more addicted to each other. There is a level of love that has reached the highest of highs.” Sounds intense!

Jessica told the Today show in the US that she is going to change her name to Jessica Johnson: “When I renew my licence that’s very expired, I’m going to be Jessica Johnson.”

The singer also joked: “Doesn’t Jessica Johnson sound like the best stripper name ever?”

While she didn’t say whether the change would be on a professional level also, we have to say that ‘Jessica Johnson’ has a great ring to it! And not in a stripper way either, Jess!

However, Jessica has said in the past that the name ‘Simpson’ tends to have a bit more pull when it comes to the world of fame, so perhaps not: “If it’s a hard restaurant to get into, I will definitely say ‘Simpson.’ It helps a little bit.”

No matter how good your sex life might be, there’s always room for improvement. Let’s face it, both men and women are guilty of mistakes in the bedroom, and we reckon it’s time to get our acts together!

Here are some of the biggest mistakes men make in the bedroom (for the sake of equality we’ll be covering errors from us ladies too, don’t worry!)

1. Skipping the best part
Now, we admit that in the heat of passion sometimes you just need to rip off your clothes and get to it, but usually, foreplay is required. Not all ladies can have an orgasm from sex alone, so sometimes we need a little extra help. Lads, if you want to get us in the mood, don’t forget the most important bit!

2. Not grooming your man-garden
Look, we have gone through a lot of pain and struggle to get these smooth legs and this very presentable bikini line. Hair removal is pretty much a full-time job for us. So why must you insist on going au naturel down there? A little trim is all we ask… thanks guys!

3. Rushing things
Sex isn’t a chore on our to-do list that should be rushed through as quickly as possible. Unlike dentist’s appointments, doing laundry and hovering, sex is something we actually look forward to and take pleasure in! So why rush it? It’s not a race. There’s no standard length of time that sex should last, we know, but at least give us time to get into the swing of things.

4. Being a tad predictable
We agree that wild acrobatics mightn’t be necessary on a normal Tuesday night, but every so often it’s nice to change things up a little. Just because we enjoy a certain position doesn’t mean we want things the same every single time. Don’t be afraid to try out something new!

5. Forgetting about oral
For most of us, oral sex is a sure fire route to an orgasm. So if you want to please us in bed, don’t neglect it! Many men simply avoid oral sex because they’re not quite sure what to do. We promise, you can’t go too far wrong!

6. Assuming we’re done too
Here are the facts: it’s just not as easy for women to reach orgasm as it is for men. Unless you’ve gone all out to help us along, it was just another “good but not GREAT” event for us. All it takes is a little bit of effort to turn so-so sex into mind-blowing sex.

Online dating can be a bit of a minefield. You're presented with a few lines of information and a handful of pictures – not exactly the easiest way to find the love of your life. And let's face it, while we might not outright lie in our carefully chosen pictures, there's always a little bit of selective editing.

A cheeky filter or a good angle can make all the difference, but does it really matter if you don't look totally like your pictures? The guys over at Simple Pickup conducted a "social experiment" to find out. Their plan was inspired by a recent study which shows that, while the biggest fear for women dating online is meeting a serial killer, the biggest fear for men is that their date is going to be fat… because that would just be the absolute end of the world.

They got their stunning pal Sara to set up a few Tinder dates and then sent her off to meet the guys while wearing a fatsuit and full prosthetic "fat" makeup.

While the experiment is a little bit cringey, the results are interesting… especially when you compare them to the same experiment done with a guy.

Out of Sara's five dates, four of them left, with one saying he was "a little agitated" and another saying he really didn't "appreciate people lying." See for yourself here:

As for the male version… he did fairly well!

All the girls stayed put, and he even got a kiss at the end as well as a couple of plans for future dates.

Says a lot, doesn't it…

Justin Bieber’s new album collaboration with Cody Simpson might be delayed after Biebs was involved in a cliff diving incident.

He revealed on twitter that he had burst his ear drum while cliff diving, and has been told he may need surgery.

Ouch.

Justin broke the news to worried fans on Twitter, writing: “Busted my ear drum cliff diving. Doc says might need surgery now. Sucks.”

He reassured panicked followers however that though his injury might slow down the release of new music, that it wouldn’t put a stop to his album plans.

“My ear drum might back us up a little but I'm still bringing you this new music. Much love. Damn u cliff diving!”

“Got some exclusives on the fan club. We got a lot coming. No worries :)”

So the album is still going ahead. Great news for fans, bad news for everyone else. What about our ear surgery, eh?

Throw on another episode of the Great British Bakeoff, because this new study shows that indulging in ‘food porn’ will actually make you less hungry, not more.

The study, titled “Satiation from sensory simulation: Evaluating foods decreases enjoyment of similar foods” found that looking at particular types of food acts on your brain as if you’d actually eaten that food.

This means you not only will want the food less, but you will get less enjoyment out of eating it.

So next time you’re dieting, stock up on old episodes of cooking shows and feed your brain delicious goodies  – you’ll feel less sad that they’re not on the real life menu.

Last night was a big one for Linsday Lohan, who made her West End debut in Speed the Plow.

The play was meant to be her comeback to the world of serious acting, but according to initial reviews, things didn’t go quite as planned at the preview yesterday evening.

Lindsay got off to a rough start, forgetting her lines numerous times, saved only by prompting from offstage. Cringe.

She also relied on a book with some lines written in it that she used as a prop.

Reviewer Nico Hines wrote, “On the first night of previews, a work-in-progress feel is to be expected. But halfway through… the audience was openly laughing at Lohan's struggle to grasp [playwright] Mamet's sharp, trademark dialogue.” Well… that doesn’t sound too positive!

LiLo spoke about her struggle to learn the complex lines in an interview with The Telegraph earier this month. “It’s… terrifying, at times,” she said. “Because in the beginning I, like, panicked. I was like, ‘Oh my f**k, I can’t say all this s**t.’”

She remained calm yesterday on social media, with posting this picture of the Playhouse Theatre to Twitter with the caption "Ready."

Despite her obvious nervousness and forgetfulness, her performance still received praise from some audience members.

The actress herself seemed happy enough as she was pictured leaving her hotel later that evening:

The show runs until the end of November, so hopefully Lindsay will have time to swot up between now and then!

Cabs are here! Since MTV's Jersey Shore finished in 2012, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has made a fine living for himself with nightclub appearances, product endorsements and guest appearances on other shows.

It seems he wasn’t letting revenue officials in on his success though – Mike’s been charged with income tax evasion on earnings totalling $8.9 million (€6.97m). Ouch.

The 32-year-old and his brother Marc appeared in a New York courtroom yesterday to plead not guilty. Mike is charged with one count of conspiracy and two counts of filing false tax returns.

If he’s found guilty, Mike won’t get off easily – he’ll face up to nine years in prison, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.

The TV star hasn’t made any official comment, but he has been busy posting lots of inspirational quotes on Twitter and Instagram over the last few days, like these wise words:

Mike’s currently out on bail, but he is not permitted to leave New York or New Jersey without official permission. He'll return to court at the end of October.

This isn’t the first time the muscular star has been caught up in legal drama. Back in June he was arrested for brawling with his other brother Frank at the New Jersey tanning salon they share ownership of.

There are many reasons people are looking for alternatives to cow's milk on the market right now.

Whatever your reason to cut back on dairy – here are some alternatives you can try out!

Most of these milk alternatives will be widely available in supermarkets in Ireland now but if not then your local health food store is a safe bet!

Many milk alternatives can have sugar added so always try to find ‘unsweetened’ varieties to protect your teeth!

1. Almond milk
Almond milk is always a safe bet as it has a really lovely nutty flavour that is great in coffee, porridge, cereal etc. It’s not as rich as regular milk but you’ll soon crave the great aroma is adds to your food!

2. Coconut milk
No, not the canned variety. This coconut milk is more watery and perfect for your dairy-free baking and dessert making! It also tasted great in coffee in you like a coconutty-flavour.

3. Rice milk
Rice milk is said to be the least fattening of milks so if weight loss is what you are after then this is for you! Rice milk is also the best hypo-allergic of milks and has a lovely sweet flavour you’ll enjoy in your coffee or breakfast.

4. Soy milk
Soy milk can be the best of the alternatives to use in savoury dishes as it has a very undistinguishable flavour unlike almond or coconut especially.

5. Hemp milk
Hemp milk is made from the seeds of the hemp plant and has a nutty flavour and is also a little sweet and is high in omega-3 fatty acids.
