Summer is just over and the autumn is calling our names.

That means shorter days, darker evenings, unshaven legs and it being acceptable to have a Baileys hot chocolate four nights a week.

Just me? Oh, well, you're all missing out.

So what's the perfect autumn cosy-couch-viewing? Sally Rooney, author of the fantastic Conversations with Friends, is coming to our rescue on that front.

According to Stylist, Sally’s upcoming book, Normal People, is set to be adapted for TV by BBC Three.

It's based around the book, which follows the lives of Marianne and Connell, who both hail from a small town in the west of Ireland and end up as students in Dublin's Trinity College.

It explores how people grow and change as they navigate their way through young adulthood and the interesting people that they meet along the way.

“I feel very privileged to be working with such an extraordinary team on the adaptation of Normal People. I’m looking forward to the challenge of working in a new form, and of thinking about these characters and their lives in new ways,” Sally said.

The cherry on the cake?

It will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson, who's work includes RoomThe Killing of a Sacred Deer and The Lobster.

Lenny said that, “Sally is a writer of the highest calibre and in Normal People she captures the ebb and flow of intimacy and desire with extraordinary skill.''

“I’m proud to be part of bringing her work to the screen audience it deserves.”

So, if awkwardness, humour and romance are up your street, then look no further.

Normal People is due to hit our screens in January and we assure you, you will not want to miss it.

Oh, Insatiable.

Where do I even start with you?

I think I'm like many others who only gave the Netflix show a go due to the almost-deafening roar of ''DO NOT WATCH THIS SH*TE'' that I seemed be faced with on every website.

Headlines ranged from ''Critics Say ‘Insatiable’ Is “Offensive” and “the Worst Netflix Original Series”  to ''Insatiable Is Dreadfully Unappetizing.''

Our review? Avoid it like the f*cking plague.

So let's start from the start – what is the show even about?

It centres on Patty Bladell, a formerly overweight high-school student in Georgia who – due to getting her jaw broken by a homeless guy – had it wired shut and lost a load weight as a result.

Now slim, Patty may have shed the weight but her horrendous personality has unfortunately gone nowhere.

By chance, she meets Bob Armstrong, lawyer and disgraced beauty pageant coach, who takes Patty under his wing and propels her towards pageant fame.

Bob is pointedly flamboyant (everything is pointed in this show btw) and in the first few episodes, is mistakenly accused of being a pedophile. (Yes, really.)

One of the main problems with Insatiable is that is doesn't seem to actually like it's main character – so how the hell are we supposed to?

Patty continually acts like a selfish b*tch – her actions show no regard for anyone but herself.

Phrases like ''skinny is magic'' that are bandied around definitely damaging but it is also the jokes that are racist, homophobic and sexist that I struggle with.

One of the few redeeming features is the Alyssa Milano, in her role as former-trailer-trash-turned-southern-belle-housewife Coralee, wife of Bob.

She is clearly enjoying the role here, but her storyline is simply as Bob's glam other half, who fancies his rival (also called Bob, keep up) and is jel of his young protegee, Patty.

Milano has defended the show, telling Vanity Fair,  ''the show is really a satirical look at what could happen if you do body-shame or bully someone and how that trauma affects their life. It’s also about how looks can be deceiving, an exploration of body image, about finding validation, and the desire to fill a void within ourselves.”

After over 200,000 people signed a Change.org petition to cancel the show due to what they said was a fat-shaming plot-line, creator Lauren Gussis gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter.

She explained that the show is not meant to be offensive in any way, stating, ''I wanted to poke at all those issues through comedy. But every single one of the issues that these characters struggle with -from eating disorders to body dysmorphia, to sexuality to needing outside power and validation, to wanting to be perfect, to mental illness – I have struggled with every single one of those things.''

She continued while ''everyone is entitled to their own opinion'', and in relation to the fat-shaming language that is woven throughout the show's narrative, she explains that it is the reality of what actually happens.

''I think we're in a real danger of censorship if we decide that we all have to tell stories in a certain way so that everybody else feels safe,'' she says.

Does she have a point? Should we be showing the brutal honestly that sometimes people do horrible things and say horrible things? Do we want to watch a show about that?

There are people who agree with Lauren, loved the show and have taken to Twitter to demand why it's taken so much flak.

One fan wrote, ''Insatiable doesn't fat same but instead shows that losing weight doesn't’t magically take away all the deep rooted problems that comes with body confidence issues.''

Another said, ''after watching more episodes, I wonder if a lot of people are upset with #Insatiable because it's holding a mirror up to themselves and forces them to see the reality of how cruel the world still can be….maybe they are even contributing to it in ways they didn't even realise.''

So what do I think?

I think that the show's intentions didn't come from a place of malice, and Lauren was aiming to explore issues like sexuality, body image etc. through satire.

My problem with it? It just doesn't work – and there are only so many jokes falling flat that I can take.

Netflix has a lot of worthwhile shows on it – Insatiable just isn't one of them.

Strictly Come Dancing 2018 is certainly hotting up and we, for one, are more than ready to get this year's series back on our screens.

The full line-up of this year's cast is almost complete and now BBC Breakfast have confirmed the first celebrity that is definitely taking part this year.

And it is one of our faves…Katie Piper!

According to the Metro, she said, ''it took a while to say yes because it’s something way out of my comfort zone.''

‘The only person I told was my husband and he thought I was joking. I’m worried I’ll be the first to go home!’ she confessed.

So who is the lucky dancer that she has her eye on? Anton?

''I would really like to be partnered with Giovanni, but I have no sway in that at all. So watch out Giovanni, I’m coming for you!’ she laughed.

When asked why she decided to take part in taking to that daunting dance floor every week, she said it was to do with gaining confidence.

''I think it gives a wider message, my past is irrelevant, to be able to go forward and do these things is a bigger wider message. That’s something I want to take forward, and it’s nice to be part of something so light-hearted!''

The show's rehearsals's have already kicked off and we're following the pro dancers on Instagram to see all of the behind the scenes gossip and action.

Katie's fans were so supportive wished her good luck on social media, writing, ''amazing news Katie! You’re going to be amazing!!I Can’t wait to see you on that famous dance floor!''

Another said, ''yes!!!! You’re going to be brilliant. Can’t wait to see your costumes/hair/makeup and dancing of course.''

Strictly starts filming this month, with the rest of the names to be revealed in the next two weeks before the series’ red carpet launch at the end of August.

We will be rooting for Katie – we know she is going to be brilliant.

Friends has been revealed as the most-watched streaming show and we’re not one bit surprised. There are dozens of series we need to watch, but sometimes all you want to do is curl up on the sofa and watch Friends, despite the fact that you’ve seen every episode at least five times.

In a report by Ofcom, the American comedy came out on top, beating shows like Peaky Blinders, The Crown and Stranger Things to the number one spot.

There are so many things we love about the show, from Chandler’s witty sense of humour to Monica’s immaculate apartment- can she come over and clean our houses, please?

Some episodes will have you doubled over with laughter, whilst others will warm your heart. Some might leave you feeling pretty emotional and others will actually teach you important life lessons.

Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, Ross, Monica and Rachel took their final bow in 2004 when The Last One Part 2 aired, but the show has only strengthened in popularity since we waved goodbye to the gang.

14 years on from the final episode and the show is just as popular as ever. It’s easier than ever to tune into the show with never-ending episodes on Comedy Central and the entire 236 episodes on Netflix.

The show's charm, humour and loveable characters make it easy to watch again and again, but there’s also a scientific reason behind our love for the sitcom.

Author Neel Burton told Huffington Post: “Nostalgia can lend us much-needed context, perspective and direction, reminding and reassuring us that our life is not as banal as it may seem. It also tells us that there have been — and will once again be –meaningful moments and experiences.”

Now that we know watching Friends is good for us we’ll be binge-watching the show until we’re old and grey.

Could we BE more excited?

As the search gets underway, Jason soon finds himself back at the heart of the action battling a sinister network that utilises terror and technology to maintain unchecked power.

We all need a laugh after a long week of work so get ready to enjoy Hot Fuzz, which is available today.

The funny and entertaining movie has been created from the brilliant minds of the creators of Shaun of the Dead.

So pull up a chair and get stuck into whichever book takes your fancy…

We The Animals

The book, centred on three wild brothers who live a rough childhood in rural upstate 1980's New York. has already created quite a buzz.

Lindsay fans get ready – our gal is BACK.

Instead of hitting the big screen, the 32-year-old is about to take over our TV bingeing for 2019.

Lindsay took to MTV's Youtube channel to announce that she is joining their crew in a new reality show.

The clip reveals the star saying: "Pack your bags MTV, we're going to Mykonos. I've joined the MTV family, and I'm Lindsay Lohan. Get ready."

The show is fittingly named Lohan Beach Club

It follows Lindsay leading a group of "handpicked brand ambassadors" as they "strive to rise above the temptations the Mykonos nightlife scene has to offer".

The Mean Girls actor will also co-executive produce the programme.

The Greek Islands are clearly a location close to the actor's heart.

It's her third business venture there as she already has Lohan Nightclub in Athens and Lohan Beach House Rhodes.

Permission to get excited is granted as filming is already underway.

However, we have to wait until next year to obsess over the new MTV show.

We have been dying to see what happens to the Stranger Things crew next!
But unfortunately, the new release date of Stranger Things has officially ruined our day.

It was an emotional final episode as we lost a beloved character, saw rekindled romances, and watched people dance the night away at Snowball.

Spoiler alert!

We were left on the edge of our seats as the camera flipped to show the school still in 'the upside down', and the monster looming over it all.

To our dismay, Netflix has confirmed that the season three will not be released until Summer 2019.

Yes, we have to wait an entire year! Why is it taking so long?

When asked during the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday, Netflix’s VP of Original Content, Cindy Holland, said they are taking their time with the ‘hand-crafted show’.

‘You know, the [creators] the Duffer Brothers and [director] Shawn Levy have worked really hard and they understand the stakes are high.

‘They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year.[…] it’s gonna be worth the wait.’

A recent trailer for the series modelled an advert for the Starcourt Mall, informing viewers of its opening next summer.

So, while we were warned of the possible release date, many of us fans were hoping for a fall debut.

Expectations continue to rise as the Duffer Brothers take their time creating the follow up season.

So, we will just have to wait a bit longer to see Eleven kick some alien a**!

Netflix are introducing a cool new feature to user profiles and we are rather excited about it.

Their profile icons are getting a major makeover in honour of a very special anniversary.

In August 2013, Netflix launched profiles. Netflix became uniquely yours, personalised to you and your taste. You no longer had to see your roommate’s movie suggestions in your Top Picks or your little sister’s cartoons in your Continue Watching. Your profile features the best suggestions based on what you watch.

The profile icons you’ve used for the last five years are getting a fun makeover. They’re also introducing a bunch of new icons — including some of the most beloved characters from Netflix shows and movies. Get excited, things are about to get a lot more personal.

Cathy Conk, Director, Product Innovation said “We know the series and movies on Netflix are more than just things you watch to pass the time. The stories — and the characters in them —are also your heroes, frenemies, soulmates and everything in between. We’re thrilled to give you a way to show your fandom and make your connection with Netflix more unique.”

“Profiles are key to creating a highly personalized Netflix experience. By watching on your own profile, we can showcase suggestions for TV shows and movies we’re sure you won’t want to miss,” she added.

“We’re always working to make it easier for our members to connect with stories they’ll love and creating your profile is the first step. If you don’t have one yet, we highly suggest you make one — and personalize it with an icon like Luke Cage, Crazy Eyes, or another one of your favourite characters.”

The new profile icons will be rolling out on the website, mobile, and TV devices over the next few weeks.

The hotly anticipated third instalment of smash Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things may still be a way off but fans finally got a little nugget of what the next season has in store.

Netflix released the short clip, titled, ''Ahoy! Something is coming… to Hawkins, Indiana!'' yesterday to mass excitement.

It showed a brand new mall, Starcourt Mall, that's coming to Hawkins in the summer of 1985.

Big permed hair, cycling shorts and neon legwarmers followed as the mall came to life with 80's shoppers.

Not to mention the appearance of fan favourite Steve Harrington (Joe Kerry) clad in a sailor outfit at what we can assume is his summer job in Scoops Ahoy! ice cream parlour.

Btw, whoever okayed putting a hat on top of The Hair – which is almost a character in it's own right – has some serious answering to do.

Joining him was newbie Robin (Maya Thurman-Hawke), who looked as equally unenthusiastic about working there as our Steve.

So what does it all mean?

Well, fans are literally combing through each scene, looking for any clues that creators The Duffer Brothers may have slipped in.

One fan wrote, ''you don't know how much ive seen this clip. i NeEd mOrE sTrAnGeR tHiNgS 3!!!!''

Most of the crazy fan theories and assumptions are that something is not quite right with Starcourt Mall – why make a clip solely dedicated to it if wasn't linked in some way linked to the Upside Down?

One comment said, ''I bet there is gonna be some epic showdown inside the mall with eleven and all the kids trying to defeat a monster'' while another agreed that the mall hold's definite importance in the plot.

''Brenners gonna waltz Back into Hawkins to find a shopping mall has been built over his lab. Eleven and mike go on a date to the mall and bump into Brenner.''

Helluva day….

A post shared by Shawn Levy (@slevydirect) on

One fan suggested that the mall was built on the grounds of Hawkin's lab.

Hmmm, not sure about that one but I suppose we'll just have to keep on guessing for now!

The show has another reason to celebrate as it has just landed a whopping and well-deserved 12 Emmy nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, and nods for David Harbour (Hopper) and Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven ) in their respective roles.

Shame that the amazing Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) missed out on a nom as he was insanely brilliant in S2.

Thankfully, a few more set secrets were spilled recently thanks to executive producer Shawn Levy's interview with GQ.

He explained that four of the eight episodes have now been filmed, but the Duffers are still writing the second half of the season while they edit the first half.

“We still are scrambling to find time for the [Duffer] brothers to write the second half of the season while we're making the first half. Like every creative type the brothers have their process, and no matter how resolved they are to be more efficient with their time or not, some things don't change.”

He also promised a turn in the plot “toward darker and bigger action-packed fare than we’ve ever attempted.”

Stranger Things 3 began filming in April in Atlanta but it looks like we'll have to sit tight til sometime in 2019 to see what the gang get up to next.

To scratch that ST itch, catch Summer of 84 next month and hold tight for that S3 trailer!

Is it just us or are you dying to get a glimpse at Olivia Coleman for Season Three of The Crown?

Well, wait no longer as Netflix has released the first image of Olivia as HRH Queen Elizabeth II with the  simple caption of ''Patience.''

Which is something we sadly don't have when it comes to the third season of the hit drama.

Olivia is set to take over the reigns from Claire Foy, who embodied the grace and quiet determination of Her Majesty with such ease, that she will be greatly missed.

However, fans are divided with their opinions, as some are excited to see what Olivia will bring to the role while others wish Claire could have stayed on.

One said, ''Isn’t it two-fold? 1. The Queen needs to age: I don’t think we can hang around while Claire Foy gets 20 years older. 2. As mentioned multiple times throughout the series, ‘The Crown’ is the most important thing, not the person wearing it.''

Another chimed in with, ''I'm really going to miss Claire Foy (and Vanessa Kirby!) but I'm excited to see this next chapter!''

Olivia has spoken previously about how stepping into Claire's shoes will be ''a very hard act to follow.''

A post shared by The Crown (@thecrownnetflix) on

She spoke to Radio Times about the challenge of taking over from Claire.

''She’s f***ing amazing and it’s a very hard act to follow. The grown-ups put us [Olivia and Claire] in touch, so I could ask her about it and she was just lovely – she’s one of the sweetest people ever and she’s brilliant.”

Other new members to the cast include Tobias Menzies as the Duke of Edinburgh and Call The Midewife's Erin Doherty in the role of Princess Anne.

The third and fourth series are also reported to cover the time span of 1964-76.

Producer Suzanne Mackie also said that Charles’ second wife Camilla Parker-Bowles will be introduced.

Series Three can't come soon enough!

It's not quite Strictly season yet but it's getting pretty close!

Is it too soon to say we can't wait for the cos autumn nights curled up on the couch judging celebrities for their Cha Cha Cha's?

Well, a titbit of news may have been leaked to tide you over for now – and it's to do with another possible contestant for the 2018 series.

According to Hello! magazine, is seems that sport star Alex Scott could be putting on her dancing shoes in a matter of weeks.

Alex is an ex-England and Arsenal Ladies footballer and has been a hit with her commentary for this year's World Cup.

It has been reported in The Mirror that the former Arsenal  defender ''ticks all the right boxes'' to appear in the BBC show

“It’s just a case of narrowing people down to see if they are really up for it and there aren't any commitments preventing them from going  ahead'' they said.

The 33-year-old would follow in a footsteps of Olympic long-jumper Greg Rutherford, jockey and former track cyclist Victoria Pendleton  and Olympic gymnast Claudia Fragapane.

Other contestants rumoured to join this year's line-up include Eastenders Samantha Womack who played Ronnie Mitchell.

Strictly have also recently announced that their newest pro dancers joining the show are Grazino di Prima, Luba Mustuk and Johannes Radebe.
